  • Imlpementations of an Interface with Different Types?

    - by b3njamin
    Searched as best I could but unfortunately I've learned nothing relevant; basically I'm trying to work around the following problem in C#... For example, I have three possible references (refA, refB, refC) and I need to load the correct one depending on a configuration option. So far however I can't see a way of doing it that doesn't require me to use the name of said referenced object all through the code (the referenced objects are provided, I can't change them). Hope the following code makes more sense: public ??? LoadedClass; public Init() { /* load the object, according to which version we need... */ if (Config.Version == "refA") { Namespace.refA LoadedClass = new refA(); } else if (Config.Version == "refB") { Namespace.refB LoadedClass = new refB(); } else if (Config.Version == "refC") { Namespace.refC LoadedClass = new refC(); } Run(); } private void Run(){ { LoadedClass.SomeProperty... LoadedClass.SomeMethod(){ etc... } } As you can see, I need the Loaded class to be public, so in my limited way I'm trying to change the type 'dynamically' as I load in which real class I want. Each of refA, refB and refC will implement the same properties and methods but with different names. Again, this is what I'm working with, not by my design. All that said, I tried to get my head around Interfaces (which sound like they're what I'm after) but I'm looking at them and seeing strict types - which makes sense to me, even if it's not useful to me. Any and all ideas and opinions are welcome and I'll clarify anything if necessary. Excuse any silly mistakes I've made in the terminology, I'm learning all this for the first time. I'm really enjoying working with an OOP language so far though - coming from PHP this stuff is blowing my mind :-)

  • How to keep track of call statistics? C++

    - by tf.rz
    I'm working on a project that delivers statistics to the user. I created a class called Dog, And it has several functions. Speak, woof, run, fetch, etc. I want to have a function that spits out how many times each function has been called. I'm also interested in the constructor calls and destructor calls as well. I have a header file which defines all the functions, then a separate .cc file that implements them. My question is, is there a way to keep track of how many times each function is called? I have a function called print that will fetch the "statistics" and then output them to standard output. I was considering using static integers as part of the class itself, declaring several integers to keep track of those things. I know the compiler will create a copy of the integer and initialize it to a minimum value, and then I'll increment the integers in the .cc functions. I also thought about having static integers as a global variable in the .cc. Which way is easier? Or is there a better way to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Function returning pointer to struct

    - by GammaGuy
    I am having some issues with code that is returning a pointer to a struct declared inside a class. Here is my code so far: SortedList.h #ifndef SORTEDLIST_H #define SORTEDLIST_H class SortedList{ public: SortedList(); ... private: struct Listnode { Student *student; Listnode *next; }; static Listnode *copyList (Listnode *L); }; #endif SortedList.cpp #include "SortedList.h" ... // Here is where the problem lies Listnode SortedList::*copyList(Listnode *L) { return 0; // for NULL } Apparently, the copy list method wont compile. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio and the compiler tells me that "Listnode" is unidentified. When I try to compile, here is whhat I get: 1>------ Build started: Project: Program3, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------ 1> SortedList.cpp 1>c:\users\owner\documents\college\fall 2012\cs 368 - learn c++\program3\program3\sortedlist.cpp(159): error C2657: 'SortedList::*' found at the start of a statement (did you forget to specify a type?) 1>c:\users\owner\documents\college\fall 2012\cs 368 - learn c++\program3\program3\sortedlist.cpp(159): error C4430: missing type specifier - int assumed. • Is it possible to implement events in C++?

    - by acidzombie24
    I wanted to implement a C# event in C++ just to see if i could do it. I got stuck, i know the bottom is wrong but what i realize my biggest problem is... How do i overload the () operator to be whatever is in T in this case int func(float)? I cant? can i? Can i implement a good alternative? #include <deque> using namespace std; typedef int(*MyFunc)(float); template<class T> class MyEvent { deque<T> ls; public: MyEvent& operator +=(T t) { ls.push_back(t); return *this; } }; static int test(float f){return (int)f; } int main(){ MyEvent<MyFunc> e; e += test; }

  • Problem with inherited classes in C#

    - by Unniloct
    I have a class called "Entity," with two child classes: "Creature" and "Item." (I'm making a game.) Creature has two functions called "Attack," one for attacking Creatures, and one for attacking Items. So far, everything works well. Now I'm working on the shooting bit, so I have a function called SelectTarget(). It takes all of the Entities (both Creatures and Items) in the player's view that the player can shoot and lets the player choose one. So here lies the problem: SelectTarget() returns an Entity, but I need some code to figure out whether that Entity is a Creature or an Item, and process it appropriately. Since this question looks kind of empty without any code, and I'm not 100% sure my explanation is good enough, here's where I'm at: if (Input.Check(Key.Fire)) { Entity target = Game.State.SelectTarget.Run(); this.Draw(); if (target != null) { //Player.Attack(target); // This won't work, because I have: // Player.Attack((Creature)Target) // Player.Attack((Item)Target) // but nothing for Entity, the parent class to Creature and Item. return true; } } (If the way the game is laid out seems weird, it's a roguelike.)

  • [C++] Parent-Child scheme

    - by rubenvb
    I'm writing a class that holds a pointer to a parent object of the same type (think Qt's QObject system). Each object has one parent, and the parent should not be destroyed when a child is destroyed (obviously). class MyClass { public: MyClass(const MyClass* ptr_parent): parent(parent){}; ~MyClass(){ delete[] a_children; }; private: const MyClass* ptr_parent; // go to MyClass above MyClass* a_children; // go to MyClass below size_t sz_numChildren; // for iterating over a_children } (Excuse my inline coding, it's only for brevity) Will destroying the "Master MyClass" take care of all children? No child should be able to kill it's parent, because I would then have pointers in my main program to destroyed objects, correct? Why might you ask? I need a way to "iterate" through all subdirectories and find all files on a platform independent level. The creation of this tree will be handled by native API's, the rest won't. Is this a good idea to start with? Thanks!

  • Can I use a method as a lambda?

    - by NewAlexandria
    I have an interface the defines a group of conditions. it is one of several such interfaces that will live with other models. These conditions will be called by a message queue handler to determine completeness of an alert. All the alert calls will be the same, and so I seek to DRY up the enqueue calls a bit, by abstracting the the conditions into their own methods (i question if methods is the right technique). I think that by doing this I will be able to test each of these conditions. class Loan module AlertTriggers def self.included(base) base.extend LifecycleScopeEnqueues # this isn't right Loan::AlertTriggers::LifecycleScopeEnqueues.instance_method.each do |cond| class << self def self.cond ::AlertHandler.enqueue_alerts( {:trigger => Loan.new}, cond ) end end end end end module LifecycleScopeEnqueues def student_awaiting_cosigner lambda { |interval, send_limit, excluding| excluding ||= '' Loan.awaiting_cosigner. where('loans.id not in (?)', excluding.map(&:id) ). joins(:petitions). where('petitions.updated_at > ?', interval.days.ago). where('petitions.updated_at <= ?', send_limit.days.ago) } end end I've considered alternatives, where each of these methods act like a scope. Down that road, I'm not sure how to have AlertHandler be the source of interval, send_limit, and excluding, which it passes to the block/proc when calling it.

  • How to use wkhtmltopdf.exe in ASP.net

    - by David Murdoch
    After 10 hours and trying 4 other HTML to PDF tools I'm about ready to explode. wkhtmltopdf sounds like an excellent solution...the problem is that I can't execute a process with enough permissions from asp.net so... Process.Start("wkhtmltopdf.exe","http://www.google.com google.pdf"); starts but doesn't do anything. Is there an easy way to either: -a) allow asp.net to start processes (that can actually do something) or -b) compile/wrap/whatever wkhtmltopdf.exe into somthing I can use from C# like this: WkHtmlToPdf.Save("http://www.google.com", "google.pdf");

  • How do I generate C# code from WADL files?

    - by Anders Sandvig
    I am looking for a code generator than can generate C# code to access RESTful web services described by WADL files in a way similar to how wadl2java works. Doing som searching I came across the rest-api-code-gen project on Google Code, but although the latest source does in fact support C#, the REST Describe & Compile demo site does not. (The C# button is there, but it's disabled.) I realize I could download the source and set up my own server with the latest version, but I would prefer not to, as what I need is a command line tool and not a web application with dependencies to Google Web Toolkit. I guess I could write my own a command line tool based on the same source code, but if it has already been done, or other tools can do the job, I'd rather avoid it. So, I'm wondering, are there any tools like that out there?

  • Image auto resizes in PdfPCell with iTextSharp

    - by Mladen Prajdic
    Hi, i'm having a weird problem with images in iTextSharp library. I'm adding the image to the PdfPCell and for some reason it gets scaled up. How do i keep it to original size? Here's the image of the PDF at 100% and the image in its original size opened in paint.net. I though that the images would be same when printed but the difference on the pic is the same on the printed version. Having to manually scale the image with ScaleXXX to get it to right seems a bit illogical and does not give a good result. So how do I put the image in its original size inside a PdfPCell of a table without having to scale it? Here's my code: private PdfPTable CreateTestPDF() { PdfPTable table = new PdfPTable(1); table.WidthPercentage = 100; Phrase phrase = new Phrase("MY TITLE", _font24Bold); table.AddCell(phrase); PdfPTable nestedTable = new PdfPTable(5); table.WidthPercentage = 100; Phrase cellText = new Phrase("cell 1", _font9BoldBlack); nestedTable.AddCell(cellText); cellText = new Phrase("cell 2", _font9BoldBlack); nestedTable.AddCell(cellText); cellText = new Phrase("cell 3", _font9BoldBlack); nestedTable.AddCell(cellText); iTextSharp.text.Image image = iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance(@"d:\MyPic.jpg"); image.Alignment = iTextSharp.text.Image.ALIGN_CENTER; PdfPCell cell = new PdfPCell(image); cell.HorizontalAlignment = PdfPCell.ALIGN_MIDDLE; nestedTable.AddCell(cell); cellText = new Phrase("cell 5", _font9BoldBlack); nestedTable.AddCell(cellText); nestedTable.AddCell(""); string articleInfo = "Test Text"; cellText = new Phrase(articleInfo, _font8Black); nestedTable.AddCell(cellText); nestedTable.AddCell(""); nestedTable.AddCell(""); nestedTable.AddCell(""); table.AddCell(nestedTable); SetBorderSizeForAllCells(table, iTextSharp.text.Rectangle.NO_BORDER); return table; } static BaseColor _textColor = new BaseColor(154, 154, 154); iTextSharp.text.Font _font8 = new iTextSharp.text.Font(iTextSharp.text.Font.FontFamily.HELVETICA, 8, iTextSharp.text.Font.NORMAL, _textColor); iTextSharp.text.Font _font8Black = new iTextSharp.text.Font(iTextSharp.text.Font.FontFamily.HELVETICA, 8, iTextSharp.text.Font.NORMAL, BaseColor.BLACK); iTextSharp.text.Font _font9 = new iTextSharp.text.Font(iTextSharp.text.Font.FontFamily.HELVETICA, 9, iTextSharp.text.Font.NORMAL, _textColor); iTextSharp.text.Font _font9BoldBlack = new iTextSharp.text.Font(iTextSharp.text.Font.FontFamily.HELVETICA, 9, iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD, BaseColor.BLACK); iTextSharp.text.Font _font10 = new iTextSharp.text.Font(iTextSharp.text.Font.FontFamily.HELVETICA, 10, iTextSharp.text.Font.NORMAL, _textColor); iTextSharp.text.Font _font10Black = new iTextSharp.text.Font(iTextSharp.text.Font.FontFamily.HELVETICA, 10, iTextSharp.text.Font.NORMAL, BaseColor.BLACK); iTextSharp.text.Font _font10BoldBlack = new iTextSharp.text.Font(iTextSharp.text.Font.FontFamily.HELVETICA, 10, iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD, BaseColor.BLACK); iTextSharp.text.Font _font24Bold = new iTextSharp.text.Font(iTextSharp.text.Font.FontFamily.HELVETICA, 24, iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD, _textColor);

  • Show PDF in iPad using CGPDF APIs

    - by AJ
    I have learned Apple has release CGPDF APIs in SDK 3.2 for drawing PDF context. What I understand from these APIs is that you can draw a PDF to a data object or a PDF file. You can then export it, may be, to your sandbox's directory OR add as an attachment in the mail. But I am not sure if we can use these APIs to read a PDF from application bundle and show it to the user page-by-page on the screen. What I want to do is open a PDF of a magazine in a magazine reader app. I was also wondering if we can identify the links in a PDF file and open them in the app. Let me know if have done OR doing anything like this. Thanks AJ

  • Trouble with ITextSharp - Converting XML to PDF

    - by AllenG
    Okay... I'm trying to use the most recent version of ITextSharp to turn an XML file into a PDF. It isn't working. The documentation on SourceForge doesn't seem to have kept up with the actual releases; the code in the provided example won't even compile under the newest version. Here is my test XML: <Remittance> <RemitHeader> <Payer>BlueCross</Payer> <Provider>Maricopa</Provider> <CheckDate>20100329</CheckDate> <CheckNumber>123456789</CheckNumber> </RemitHeader> <RemitDetail> <NPI>NPI_GOES_HERE</NPI> <Patient>Patient Name</Patient> <PCN>0034567</PCN> <DateOfService>20100315</DateOfService> <TotalCharge>125.57</TotalCharge> <TotalPaid>55.75</TotalPaid> <PatientShare>35</PatientShare> </RemitDetail> </Remittance> And here is the code I'm attempting to use to turn that into a PDF. Document doc = new Document(PageSize.LETTER, 36, 36, 36, 36); iTextSharp.text.pdf.PdfWriter.GetInstance(doc, new StreamWriter(fileOutputPath).BaseStream); doc.Open(); SimpleXMLParser.Parse((ISimpleXMLDocHandler)doc, new StreamReader(fileInputPath).BaseStream); doc.Close(); Now, I was pretty sure the (ISimpleXMLDocHandler)doc piece wasn't going to work, but I can't actually find anything in the source that both a) implements ISimleXMLDocHandler and b) will accept a standard XML document and parse it to PDF. FYI- I did try an older version which would compile using the example code from sourceforge, but it wasn't working either.

  • Android-Java: Constructing a triangle based on Coordinates on a map and your bearing

    - by Aidan
    Hi Guys, I'm constructing a geolocation based application and I'm trying to figure out a way to make my application realise when a user is facing the direction of the given location (a particular long / lat co-ord). I've got the math figured, I just have the triangle to construct. //UPDATE So I've figured out a good bit of this... Below is a method which takes in a long / lat value and attempts to compute a triangle finding a point 700 meters away and one to its left + right. It'd then use these to construct the triangle. It computes the correct longitude but the latitude ends up somewhere off the coast of east Africa. (I'm in Ireland!). public void drawtri(double currlng,double currlat, double bearing){ bearing = (bearing < 0 ? -bearing : bearing); System.out.println("RUNNING THE DRAW TRIANGLE METHOD!!!!!"); System.out.println("CURRENT LNG" + currlng); System.out.println("CURRENT LAT" + currlat); System.out.println("CURRENT BEARING" + bearing); //Find point X(x,y) double distance = 0.7; //700 meters. double R = 6371.0; //The radius of the earth. //Finding X's y value. Math.toRadians(currlng); Math.toRadians(currlat); Math.toRadians(bearing); distance = distance/R; Global.Alat = Math.asin(Math.sin(currlat)*Math.cos(distance)+ Math.cos(currlat)*Math.sin(distance)*Math.cos(bearing)); System.out.println("CURRENT ALAT!!: " + Global.Alat); //Finding X's x value. Global.Alng = currlng + Math.atan2(Math.sin(bearing)*Math.sin(distance) *Math.cos(currlat), Math.cos(distance)-Math.sin(currlat)*Math.sin(Global.Alat)); Math.toDegrees(Global.Alat); Math.toDegrees(Global.Alng); //Co-ord of Point B(x,y) // Note: Lng = X axis, Lat = Y axis. Global.Blat = Global.Alat+ 00.007931; Global.Blng = Global.Alng; //Co-ord of Point C(x,y) Global.Clat = Global.Alat - 00.007931; Global.Clng = Global.Alng; } From debugging I've determined the problem lies with the computation of the latitude done here.. Global.Alat = Math.asin(Math.sin(currlat)*Math.cos(distance)+ Math.cos(currlat)*Math.sin(distance)*Math.cos(bearing)); I have no idea why though and don't know how to fix it. I got the formula from this site.. http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong.html It appears correct and I've tested multiple things... I've tried converting to Radians then post computations back to degrees, etc. etc. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this method so that it will map the triangle ONLY 700 meters in from my current location in the direction that I am facing? Thanks, EDIT/// Converting the outcome to radians gives me a lat of 5.6xxxxxxxxxxxxxx .I have a feeling this bug has something to do with conversions but its not THAT simple. The equation is correct, it just.. outputs wrong..

  • PDF Manipulation with Adobe's Form Input Fields

    - by Justin
    Hello, I am trying to simplify a process where I currently use my hand calculations of X & Y Co-Ordinates of each value. Which works fine, but is causing me a lot of pain as I have to do quite a number of PDF's. I know that I can open a PDF and insert "input fields" within Adobe Acrobat Pro, which it would be great if I could use PHP to connect to those input fields and insert a value from a PHP Form. WORKFLOW:: PHP FORM PHP PROCESSING ENGINE TO FINAL PDF WITH FORM VALUES IN THE LOCATION OF THE ADOBE INPUT FIELDS. If someone has some information on something like this it would be much appreciated.

  • iText PdfPTables, document.add with writeSelectedRows

    - by J2SE31
    I am currently modifying an existing system that generates reports with iText and java. The report template is as follows: Header1(PdfPTable) Header2(PdfPTable) Body(PdfPTable) I am currently using the writeSelectedRows to display Header1 and Header2, but document.add is used to display the Body. The problem is that the system is setup to write the headers AFTER the body has already been displayed on the screen, so I am displaying my headers on top of my body content. My question is how do I add my body table (using document.add) and have it display about halfway down the page (or any predetermined vertical position)? This way I would have sufficient room to display my headers above the body table. Note: I believe the body table is using document.add to facilitate automatic paging if the body content is too large.

The xml data is as follows: Nous sommes sous l'emprise du Divin cœur de Celui que mon fils vénère par-dessus in the fo file the same line is generated as : --------Nous sommes sous l'emprise du Divin c?ur de Celui que mon fils vénère par-dessus As you see all the other accents are getting generated fine except for the 'œ'character. Any help is greatly appreciated. This one issue is holding up a project.

  • Render SSRS .RDL to PDF and just open it.

    - by FelipeFiali
    I tried to be the most descriptive I could. Ok, so since I've never done anything like this before, I guess it's better to ask before starting at all to just don't get the whole process wrong. We have a report that has to be called from an ASP.NET application, it could be a simple button. Through the code-behind, I gotta pass in a paramater, render the report, and don't save it anywhere, just open it to the user, as a .pdf file so he could save or print it. So please, give me links or tips, I'm reading MSDN documentation right now... If you have any suggestion on other technologies, as for the report, I'd like to hear it, but it has to be called from ASP.NET. Thanks in advance!

  • How to render Asian characters in a PDF using xhtmlrenderer

    - by Mark Derricutt
    I was wondering what steps were needed to render Asian characters using the java based xhtmlrenderer (flying saucer) library? I am wanting to render the following: <html> <body>????????</body> </html> Without any font settings being added to the HTML this renders fine in normal browsers, but I can't find anyway to render this to PDF using the iTextRenderer portion of xhtmlrenderer. After following various threads on the mailing list, I see lots of posts talking about adding .TTF files from the c:\windows\fonts directory, and I have modified the examples to run on linux ( https://gist.github.com/643173745182c9becc57 ), which shows me various fonts being displayed, but I don't see any Asian glyffs. Does anyone have any decent pointers, or clean solutions to this problem? Or am I looking at the wrong problem with a really simple solution elsewhere?
