    This file appears to be in a binary XML format. What is this format and how can it be parsed programmatically (as opposed to using the aapt dump tool in the SDK)? This binary format is not discussed in the in the documentation here: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/manifest/manifest-intro.html Note: I want to access this information from outside the Android environment, preferably from Java.

  • Unable to find or obtain a context for request certificate

    I am trying to send push notification to iphone. By searching on internet i found that register the P12 file on server with winhttpcertcfg. But when I tried with this command winhttpcertcfg -g -c LOCAL_MACHINE\MY -s "CertificateName" -a "ASPNET" on command window after installing winhttpcertcfg. But I am getting the error "Unable to find or obtain a context for request certificate" Can you please suggest me, how to solve this error?

I download the .xsd from http://csharptest.net/downloads/schema/log4net.xsd and put this in VSFolder/Xml/Schemas. But, how can I say to my log4net.config to use the XSD Schema?

  • CA2000 and disposal of WCF client

    There is plenty of information out there concerning WCF clients and the fact that you cannot simply rely on a using statement to dispose of the client. This is because the Close method can throw an exception (i.e. if the server hosting the service doesn't respond). I've done my best to implement something that adheres to the numerous suggestions out there. public void DoSomething() { MyServiceClient client = new MyServiceClient(); // from service reference try { client.DoSomething(); } finally { client.CloseProxy(); } } public static void CloseProxy(this ICommunicationObject proxy) { if (proxy == null) return; try { if (proxy.State != CommunicationState.Closed && proxy.State != CommunicationState.Faulted) { proxy.Close(); } else { proxy.Abort(); } } catch (CommunicationException) { proxy.Abort(); } catch (TimeoutException) { proxy.Abort(); } catch { proxy.Abort(); throw; } } This appears to be working as intended. However, when I run Code Analysis in Visual Studio 2010 I still get a CA2000 warning. CA2000 : Microsoft.Reliability : In method 'DoSomething()', call System.IDisposable.Dispose on object 'client' before all references to it are out of scope. Is there something I can do to my code to get rid of the warning or should I use SuppressMessage to hide this warning once I am comfortable that I am doing everything possible to be sure the client is disposed of?     I'm getting to grips with EF4 code first, and liking it so far. But I'm having trouble mapping an entity to a table with a composite primary key. The configuration I've tried looks like this: public SubscriptionUserConfiguration() { Property(u => u.SubscriptionID).IsIdentity(); Property(u => u.UserName).IsIdentity(); } Which throws this exception: Unable to infer a key for entity type 'SubscriptionUser'. What am I missing?

However, I get "Class SQLite3 not found" when I use new SQLite3("database");

  • onServiceConnected never called after bindService method

    Hi, I have a particular situation: a service started by a broadcast receiver starts an activity. I want to make it possible for this activity to communicate back to the service. I have chosen to use AIDL to make it possible. Everything seems works good except for bindService() method called in onCreate() of the activity. bindService(), in fact, throws a null pointer exception because onServiceConnected() is never called while onBind() method of the service is. Anyway bindService() returns true. The service is obviously active because it starts the activity. I know that calling an activity from a service could sound strange, but unfortunately this is the only way to have speech recognition in a service. Thanks in advance

    Hi all, Im using Pylons in combination with WMI module to do some basic system monitoring of a couple of machines, for POSIX based systems everything is simple - for Windows - not so much. Doing a request to the Pylons server to get current CPU, however it's not working well, or atleast with the WMI module. First i simply did (something) this: c = wmi.WMI() for cpu in c.Win32_Processor(): value = cpu.LoadPercentage However, that gave me an error when accessing this module via Pylons (GET http://ip:port/cpu): raise x_wmi_uninitialised_thread ("WMI returned a syntax error: you're probably running inside a thread without first calling pythoncom.CoInitialize[Ex]") x_wmi_uninitialised_thread: <x_wmi: WMI returned a syntax error: you're probably running inside a thread without first calling pythoncom.CoInitialize[Ex] (no underlying exception)> Looking at http://timgolden.me.uk/python/wmi/tutorial.html, i wrapped the code accordingly to the example under the topic "CoInitialize & CoUninitialize", which makes the code work, but it keeps throwing "Win32 exception occurred releasing IUnknown at..." And then looking at http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/2007-August/006237.html and the follow up post, trying to follow that - however pythoncom._GetInterfaceCount() is always 20. Im guessing this is someway related to Pylons spawning worker threads and crap like that, however im kinda lost here, advice would be nice. Thanks in advance, Anders

    I've been racking my brain (android newbie here, so not hard to do) for awhile trying to figure out how to accomplish this: Desired Layout using a RelativeLayout or something other than AbsoluteLayout which is what this was created with. I'm coming from a Windows programming background where the device adjusts the 'absolute' positioning for you and GUI layout was a non-issue. The first layout works great in the emulator, but doesn't format for my Nexus One or any other screen that differs from the emulator size. I expected this because it's absolutely positioned, but haven't found a solution that will format correctly for different screen sizes. My goal is to have the layout work for different screen sizes and in portrait / landscape. After some debugging I pinpointed my problem to line 50 of WebFormViewEngine.cs: protected override bool FileExists(ControllerContext controllerContext, string virtualPath) { try { object viewInstance = BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath(virtualPath, typeof(object)); return viewInstance != null; } For reasons unknown to me, BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath tries to find masterpage.aspx.vb file which does not exist because MVC application is published. What makes BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath behave this way, and how to debug? I've tried this with new blank MVC project. After publishing it and stopping at above location, BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath creates an instance without trying to compile anything.

  • managing images in an iphone/ipad universal app

    Hi, I'm just curious as to what methods people are using to dynamically use larger or smaller images in their universal iPhone/iPad apps. I created a large test image and I tried scaling down (using cocos2d) by 0.46875. After viewing that in the iPhone 4.0 simulator I found the results were pretty crappy... rough pixel edges, etc. Plus, loading huge image files for iPhone users when they don't need them is pretty lame. So I guess what I will probably have to do is save out two versions of every sprite... large (for the iPad side) and small (for iPhone/iPod Touch) then detect the user's device and spit out the proper sprite like so: NSString *deviceType = [UIDevice currentDevice].model; CCSprite *test; if([deviceType isEqualToString:@"iPad"]) { test = [CCSprite spriteWithFile:@"testBigHuge.png"]; } else { test = [CCSprite spriteWithFile:@"testRegularMcTiny.png"]; } [self addChild: test]; How are you guys doing this? I'd rather avoid sprinkling all of my code with if statements like this. I want to also avoid using .xib files since it's an OpenGL-based app. Thanks!

  • Extending Programming Languages

    (Since I just posted this in another question, but my browser had to be annoying and submit it without content first, here it is again:) I'm a fan of clean code. I like my languages to be able to express what I'm trying to do, but I like the syntax to mirror that too. For example, I work on a lot of programs in Objective-C for jailbroken iPhones, which patch other code using the method_setImplementation() function of the runtime. Or, in pyobjc, I have to use the syntax UIView.initWithFrame_(), which is also pretty awful and unreadable with the way the method names are structured. In both cases, the language does not support this in syntax. I've found three basic ways that this is done: Insane macros. Take a look at this "CaptainHook", it does what I'm looking for in a usable way, but it isn't quite clean and is a major hack. There's also "Logos", which implements a very nice syntax, but is written in Perl parsing my code with a ton of regular expressions. This scares me. I like the idea of adding a %hook ClassName, but not by using regular expressions to parse C or Objective-C. Finally, there is Cycript. This is an extension to JavaScript which interfaces with the Objective-C runtime and allows you to use Objective-C style code in your JavaScript, and inject that into other processes. This is likely the cleanest as it actually uses a parser for the JavaScript, but I'm not a huge fan of that language in general. Basically, this is a two part question. Should, and how should, I create an extension to Python and Objective-C to allow me to do this? Is it worth writing a parser for my language to transform the syntax into something nicer, if it is only in a very specialized niche like this? Should I just live with the horrible syntax of the default Objective-C hooking or pyobjc?

    For IE7, it's possible to add filter: none; to the body css to disable cleartype on fonts through CSS. I don't like the fuzzy look it gives, and it isn't really consistent across browsers. IE; Firefox and IE6 show it differently.     I'm trying to run an ASP.NET MVC 2 web application under IIS on Windows 7, but I get a 403.14 error. Here are the steps to reproduce: Open Visual Studio 2010 Create a new ASP.NET MVC 2 project called MvcApplication1 Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost:{random_port}/ and the page will render correctly. Click on MvcApplication1, and select "Properties". Go to the "Web" section. Select "Use Local IIS Web server" and create a virtual directory. Save. Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost/MvcApplication1/ and an IIS error HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.. It's clear that for whatever reason, ASP.NET routing is not working correctly. Things I've already thought of and tried: Verified that all IIS features are enabled in "Turn Windows features on or off". Verified that the default website is configured to use .NET 4.0 Reassigned ASP.NET v4 scripmaps via aspnet_regiis -i in the v4.0.30319 directory. Here's the most amazing part - this is on a just-built machine. New copy of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, clean install of Visual Studio 2010 Premium, no other websites and no other work performed. Anything else I can try?
