  • Subversion: How to make local changes to a file *never* check in, but have it sync with remote anyway?

    I have a file with local changes that should never sync back to the repository because it's for my local installation only. But if that same file is changed in the repo, I want those changes to update my local copy, anyway. At the moment, the file in question always shows up in the list of changes when I want to check-in my changes, and I have to manually exclude it from the check-in. How do I make it so that I can just update, with the above restriction in place? Thanks :)

  • HTML5 Local Storage of audio element source - is it possible?

    Hi stackoverflow experts I've been experimenting with the audio and local storage features of html5 of late and have run into something that has me stumped. I'd like to be able to cache or store the source of the audio element locally to enable speedier and offline playback. The problem is I can't see how this is possible with the current implementation. I have tried the following using webkit: Creating a manifest file to set up local caching but the audio file appears not to be a cacheable item maybe due to the way it is stream or something I have also attempted to use javascript to put an audio object into local storage but the size of the mp3 makes this impossible due to memory issues (i think). I have tried to use the data uri and base64 to use the html as a audio transport that can be cached but again the filesize makes this prohibitive. Also the audio element does not seem to like this in webkit (works fine in mozilla) I have tried several methods of putting the data into the local database store. Again suffering the same issues as the other cases. I'd love to hear any other ideas anyone may have as to how I could achieve my goal of offline playback using caching/local storage in webkit.

I have a very large text file there (approx. 500 lines) which I usually need to modify, then copy the contents of that file and paste it in my local browser. The way I usually do this is cat filename and then select/copy the ssh output. That takes a lot of time. I was wondering if there is a utility that will put the remote file's contents in my local clipboard.

It's accessible perfectly to everyone outside of my local network, but since I switched to a Gateway 2Wire DSL modem/router I'm unable to use the domain to access the server from my network. I can access it via a local IP or by putting it in my Windows hosts file but this is annoying to do on every computer and for every subdomain. Any idea how I can fix this? Thanks!

  • Can the users can apply Windows update without local administrator rights?

    My users are running on windows XP 32bit. normally WSUS automatically download and notify them to select which update want to install in the past they were in local administrator rights,now I reduce them to user rights so now they can't see the yellow notification said updated are available. Is there a way to give users permission to see the yellow notification and they can select updates by hand without local admin rights or power users? Any advice would be appreciated Thanks

    I need to create a local user with the same name as a domain user under CentOS with Likewise installed. When I use Useradd it says user exists, because a domain user with the same name exists. It is a service account for backup and does not work using a domain account. On machines where the local account was added before likewise was installed it works fine. Is there a way to temporarily disable this check?

    I am new to Perl and I work in a Linux OEL 5x server. I am trying to configure the Perl DB modules for Oracle connectivity (DBD and DBI modules). Can anyone help me out in the installation procedure? I had tried CPAN didn't really worked out. Any help would be appreciated.   • Converting to and from local and world 3D coordinate spaces?

    Hey guys, I've been following a guide I found here (http://knol.google.com/k/matrices-for-3d-applications-view-transformation) on constructing a matrix that will allow me to 3D coordinates to an object's local coordinate space, and back again. I've tried to implement these two matrices using my object's look, side, up and location vectors and it seems to be working for the first three coordinates. I'm a little confused as to what I should expect for the w coordinate. Here are couple of examples from the print outs I've made of the matricies that are constructed. I'm just wondering how I should deal with the last (w) coordinate? Should I just set it to 1 after performing the matrix multiplication, or does it look like I've done something wrong?     I've installed git via the instaler and not with terminal with commands, and my $PATH changed, the path to the 'local' git was added the the end of the variable, and my $PATH changed to this: /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/git/bin However, that doesnt help me, because i the path to Xcode's git comes first. so what I've done is the next, I added this lines to my '.bash_profile': export PATH="/usr/local/git/bin:$PATH" and now my path is the next: /usr/local/git/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/git/bin And I wanted to know how to remove the duplication from the end of the Path so I end up with: /usr/local/git/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin Thanks Ahead!   • Is there a snippets program that allows for tab entry of variables across the mac?

    I love Sublime Text editor and the ability to create code snippets like so: <snippet> <content><![CDATA[\$("${1:selector}").${2:method}]]></content> <tabTrigger>jq</tabTrigger> </snippet> This allows me to type jq[tab] and then have it expand to $("selector").method where I am able to tab through the string 'selector' and 'method' in order to change them. But what I'd really like to do is use this same snippet when working in Chrome Dev Tools, so I was looking for a mac snippets program that could support this. However, the three programs that I looked at (Keyboard Maestro, Snippets, CodeBox) don't support the ability to tab through to highlight predetermined strings and change them. Does anyone know of an app that will do this?

  • Is it customary to write Java domain objects / data transfer objects with public member variables on mobile platforms?

    We performed a code review recently of mobile application Java code that was developed by an outside contractor and noticed that all of the domain objects / data transfer objects are written in this style: public class Category { public String name; public int id; public String description; public int parentId; } public class EmergencyContact { public long id; public RelationshipType relationshipType; public String medicalProviderType; public Contact contact; public String otherPhone; public String notes; public PersonName personName; } Of course, these members are then accessed directly everywhere else in the code. When we asked about this, the developers told us that this is a customary performance enhancement design pattern that is used on mobile platforms, because mobile devices are resource-limited environments. It doesn't seem to make sense; accessing private members via public getters/setters doesn't seem like it could add much overhead. And the added benefits of encapsulation seem to outweigh the benefits of this coding style. Is this generally true? Is this something that is normally done on mobile platforms for the reasons given above? All feedback welcome and appreciated -

In Objective-C there some "special" types that are just maps to C primitives. Like the NSInteger. #if __LP64__ || (TARGET_OS_EMBEDDED && !TARGET_OS_IPHONE) || TARGET_OS_WIN32 || NS_BUILD_32_LIKE_64 typedef long NSInteger; #else typedef int NSInteger; #endif I know how to use the static keywords for objects but I don't understand the implications on C primitive types. When should I use a static NSInteger x instead of NSInteger x? What happens with the memory in both cases?
