• CSS Margin Issue

• How to set the base path in IIS 7 hosting a WCF application?

  I've been fighting my way through the process of migrating a (previously self-hosted) WCF application to IIS7 (I've never used IIS before and I realise that this is a very simplistic question but I failed to google/SO the answer so far). My service is hosted at http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/SampleWebsite/Service.svc but when I access it with ?wsdl all the references that should read http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/ are actually set to the window machine's local network name (i.e. http://localpc3/). I've tried using the WCF tool to add the external IP address to the base address section under the service I'm configuring as well as a number of setting inside IIS but I can't seem to track down the correct place. Where do I set this? IIS manager, web.config, somewhere else?

• How to create Server-side Progress indicator in Javascript

  Hey Guys, I want to create a section in my site, where a user has a few simple update buttons. Each of these update buttons will be going to the server, and will do a long crunching behind the scene. While the server crunches data, I want the user to have a some kind of progress indicator, like progress bar or textual percentage. I'm using jQuery as my javascript library, and CodeIgniter (PHP) as the server-side framework, if it's important... What I was thinking about is using PHP's flush() function to report progress status to jQuery, but I'm not sure that jQuery's ajax functions are reading the output before it's complete... So any advice/explanation would be useful and helpful! Thanks :)

  Visual Studio 2010 has no longer uses .vsprops files and instead uses .props files. To add a .vsprops file to a Visual Studio 2008 project, one could right-click the project icon in the Solution Explorer panel, choose Properties, go to the Configuration Properties | General section, and modify the Inherited Project Property Sheets property to contain a list of .vsprops paths. One could also modify the Visual Studio 2008 project file directly. Is there a way in the Visual Studio 2010 GUI to add .props files to a project? The Inherited Project Property Sheets property seems to have been removed. If manual editing of the project file is the only way to include .props files, where can one find documentation on doing it?

• Crystal Reports: global variable running total not displaying in header

  Using Crystal Reports I'm trying to display the running total of a database field in the header where all the labels are. I've attempted to do this by placing the running total (RTversion) into a formula field with the following: Shared stringvar CurrentVers; CurrentVers := {#CurrentVers}; and then in the page header section I have the following: Shared stringvar CurrentVers; EvaluateAFter({#currentVers}); CurrentVers; with {#CurrentVers} running the 1st largest number. Is this incorrect? Update: The goal is to display the latest version in the header near the labels to show what the current verseion is for comparison.

  I imported a website made in visual studio express 2008 to visual studio express 2010. When I run the home page I get the following error: "It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS." When I looked up the meaning of this on Google I read their needed to be a change to the configuration of the virtual directory. Another suggestion was to change the web config files . T Were these suggestions correct? If so how do I emplement them so that I can view these website pages on my local machine.

• Determining full XHR request URL on a Google Chrome XHR Breakpoint

  I am initiating a jQuery ajax ($.ajax) post, within the Google Chrome browser. I have setup a XHR breakpoint in the "XHR Breakpoints" section of the "Scripts" tab within the Developer Tools. The criteria of the breakpoint is "get" ie. I want the debugger to break on all XHR requests which contain the word "get" in them (somePage.asmx/getListOfAnimals) is an example. The breakpoint is being correctly hit, however I am unable to determine what the exact URL that is being requested. I realize I can remove the breakpoint and see what URL is being requested from the "Network" tab, but I want to know this at the time the breakpoint is hit. I have tried stepping through the XHR request once it has been hit in Chrome, but I must be missing a Javascript object/property which contains the fully requested URL. Google Chrome has detected that the XHR requested URL contains "get" but how do I get to this URL from within the debug session before the request is made?

  Hi, I have query regarding the disposing of an object. The scenario is as follows. In a Desktop Appication, developed in C#, I have a function in which a object in created like this. namespace Class 1 { variables section; .... .... Function1() { local variables; try { Object1 obj = new Object1(); .... .... if(true) { .... } else { **obj.Dispose();** } } catch() {} finally {} } } The object is not disposed when the else part is executed. The msdn link for this is http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.componentmodel.component.dispose(VS.90).aspx according to which the component should realase all the resources used by it.   Hi, I was working on a Silverlight + WCF application. One fine day when I opened the Website in Visual Studio 2008, it gave me an error "Error 99 It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. D:\IVY\AdminWCFWorking\AdminWCFWorking\AdminWCF\AdminWCF.Web\Web.config 46" I have 3 folders in the application. Each having different functionalities. I could find that these folders are not configured as application and hence the Visual Studio Web Server is throwing this error. I also found a way out for this, which said that I need to right click on these folders and select properties and do something, but at first place, when I right click the folder, when in VS, I cannot find the properties link! Can anyone please help me on removing this error. Thank You

• retain drop down value page posting back to itself asp.net

  I have an aspx page that has... if (!IsPostBack) { PopulateBrand(); in the Page_Load. This PopulateBrand() simply populates my drop down. That works great and on post back it retains the value. The problem I'm having is that there is also a link on the page that is posting back some parameters to this page. What is happening is that when this is clicked it's falling through this !IsPostBack section and wiping out my drop down values that I had selected and repopulating it. How can I prevent this and just retain what I selected when this page is posting back to itself when the link is clicked? Thanks.

  I'm supporting a ASP.NET v2.0 app installed on a Windows 2003 SP3 Enterprise on a quad core 8G machine running on .NET 2.0 SP1. before enabling the config, ran "tasklist /m mscorwks.dll" Image Name PID Modules w3wp.exe 7888 mscorwks.dll add under section in web.config ran IISRESET, rebooted server too ran "tasklist /m mscorsvr.dll" INFO: No tasks are running which match the specified criteria. ran "tasklist /m mscorwks.dll" Image Name PID Modules w3wp.exe 6251 mscorwks.dll It seems like gcServer is not taking effect. Are there any additional settings/ configurations necessary to get it working?

• IE8 won't load JavaScript file in "Compatibility View."

  Here's my JS insert: <script type="text/javascript" src="include/profile.js"></script> In IE8 with "Compatibility View," the file never loads. The first line in the file is a simple alert() call, so that I know it loaded. Change the browser to Standards View, and it loads fine. Also, if I add: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=100" > It forces to Standards View and it loads fine. Any idea why this would be the case? I've not been able to test against IE7, but I know the JS file also does not load in IE6. Right now the tag is in the section of the file.

  I'm having problems using params in the ORDER BY section of my SQL. It doesn't issue any warnings, but prints out nothing. $order = 'columnName'; $direction = 'ASC'; $stmt = $db->prepare("SELECT field from table WHERE column = :my_param ORDER BY :order :direction"); $stmt->bindParam(':my_param', $is_live, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindParam(':order', $order, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindParam(':direction', $direction, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->execute(); The :my_param works, but not :order or :direction. Is it not being internally escaped correctly? Am I stuck inserting it directly in the SQL? Like so: $order = 'columnName'; $direction = 'ASC'; $stmt = $db->prepare("SELECT * from table WHERE is_live = :is_live ORDER BY $order $direction"); Is there a PDO::PARAM_COLUMN_NAME constant or some equivalent?   Hello everyone: This is a CSS related question, I got one good answer from my previous question, which suggested to use some CSS code like overflow:auto together with a fixed height container. And here is my actual implementation : on uni server Please follow the instructions on screen and buy more than 4 kinds of tickets. If you are using IE8, Opera, Safari, Chrome, you would notice that the lower right corner of the page now has a vertical scroll bar, which scrolls the content inside it and prevent it from overflowing. That's what I want to have in this section. Now the problem is, this would not do in FireFox 3.6.2. Am I doing something not compliant to the CSS standard or FireFox has its own way of overflow control? You can inspect the elements on screen, and all controlling functions are done in one javascript using jQuery. All CSS code are kept in a separated file as well. According to the professor, FireFox would be the target browser, although the version was set to 2.0...

I thinking that I should use a blockquote or sidebar to contain the quoted document. But how do I go about making random headings in non sequential order? • How to encrypt the mobile configuration profiles in iOS (in OTA deployments)?

  I am trying to sign and encrypt .mobileconfig profiles for iOS devices. Signing works perfectly using openssl::pkcs7 sign function in ruby, however using encrypt function, I get an encrypted data but Safari fails to install the profile saying "Invalid Profile". There are two questions in this regard: Which data from the .mobileconfig profile is actually encrypted that goes into the .. section of the EncryptedPayloadContent ? Is the data in binary format (.der) or base64 encoded? Any help in this regard would be helpful as APPLE severly lacks any documentation in encrypting the profiles.

  Given a word jumble (i.e. ofbaor), what would be an approach to unscramble the letters to create a real word (i.e. foobar)? I could see this having a couple of approaches, and I think I know how I'd do it in .NET, but I curious to see what some other solutions look like (always happy to see if my solution is optimal or not). This isn't homework or anything like that, I just saw a word jumble in the local comics section of the paper (yes, good ol' fashioned newsprint), and the engineer in me started thinking.

• Best placement for javascript in Asp.net MVC app that heavily uses partial views

  What is the best place for javascript that is specific to a partial view? For example, if I have a partial view (loaded via ajax call) with some divs and I want to turn those divs into an accordian, would it be better put the $("#section").accordion() in script tags inside of the partial view, or in a .js file in the function that retrieves that partial view and inserts it into the DOM? Obviously, common methods I will be keeping in a .js file, however I am more talking about javascript very specific to the partial view itself. Most things I find on the net seem to say to put all javascript into a separate .js but nothing addresses the idea of partial views.

  Hi I'm new to both winsock and bluetooth programming. I need to develop a bluetooth service to run on a pc. Looking at the MSDN library they say to use WSASetService(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa362921%28VS.85%29.aspx) function to publish a service. The problem is that the WSAQUERYSET(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa362920%28VS.85%29.aspx) structure, that has to be passed to WSASetService, needs a binary SDP record and i don't know how to get it. In the Windows embedded section of the MSDN library they describe a procedure to obtain an SDP record using Bthnscreate. I installed Windows CE 6 to use this tool but i can't find it in the install directory nor in the entire system. How can i get an SDP record? Thanks!

  I have a list of Accommodation objects bound to a Repeater, and then a nested Repeater which has the various attendee groups listed [e.g. Default, Seniors, Juniors]. This is all output fine, with the values displayed as LinkButtons, which when clicked gets sent to a code-behind event handler. Here is an example of the output to give you a picture [with some er... interesting attendee group names]: In the event handler, I test the object parameter to see which Repeater has been sent, as the outer repeater's links can also be clicked [so the Accommodation would be set, but no Attendee Group]. Is there a way to get a HiddenField from the outer RepeaterItem that contains the currently clicked inner repeater's LinkButton? E.g. From the image, I click the Attending link in the Women section. So the EventArgs via FindControl can get me the hidden field which contains the Attendee Group's ID, which is good, but I also need the Accommodation ID [to know whether it was either Wimbledon Hotel Inn or New Acc]

• replace tiny mce with ckeditor in joomla

  hi I have a joomla project. In this the text editor is tiny mace. But there is no option to upload a pdf file. So I want to implement Ck editor or fck editor instead of tiny mce. I have downloaded ck editor and install as usual way (admin side -extension-install- uninstall section) and disabled the tiny mce in Plugin Manager. But I can't show the editor; I think I am in wrong way. Does any one have any idea? Please help me.
