Hi,
I'm using Quicktime Alternative and Chrome. The player bar looks very different (and better, I think) in IE. Is there a way to change the way it looks in Chrome?
Thanks for any help.
Am a large keyboard user, and I've never hit back/forward/refresh or the favourite buttons on my browsers. Within safari, I can modify each of the buttons that appear.
I wish in Chrome to only be able to see the address bar, and the page. Is this possible?
I have a few extensions next to my URL bar in chrome on windows 7. When I press any of them, or even the bookmark star, the text box that pops up is clear. I am using the following extensions: ablock plus, googleTranslate, firebugLite, ghostery, avastWebRep, Ultimate UserAgent switcher, Web developer toolbar, desprotetor de links, DNT plus, and WOT.
I am set to block popups but not javascript in chrome and have a blackout theme installed.
any ideas?
Recently, on most Microsoft sites, I started to see a bar at the top of every page with a hyper-link indicating "Internet Explorer 8 - faster, safer, easier".
I can understand that Microsoft shows this in browsers other than IE8.
But: this also appears in IE8 itself.
Why?

What is the step-by-step way to make a custom Windows 8 installation ?
For example, with a minimal example, I would like an image which :
Has a single user named "User"
This user has Chrome and Firefox installed
Has no link in the start screen except the desktop link
Has no buttons on the task bar
I have tried to use sysprep but I lose user settings. The CopyProfile seems to apply Administrator's settings on programmaticaly created accounts, but does not preserve local users settings accross installations.
In Outlook 2007, when in Calendar view, there's a category (group) of calendars on the left hand bar titled "People's Calendars".
We're migrating from a system where all employees have access to read and write to all other employees' calendars (via a 3rd party Web Calendar). Is it possible, from an admin level, to auto-populate this People's Calendars category in everyone's Outlook with all the employees in the company, and grant everyone read / write access to everyone else's calendars?
(Running Exchange 2010)
Thanks,
Duncan
Does anyone know how to tell windows 7 to bar a wireless network? It keeps logging into a random open one with no bandwidth my neighbors have instead of the good one we have here. I keep unchecking "automatically log in if available" and it keeps re-checking itself. I want it to NEVER log into this network no matter what without manual intervention. I do not want to disable auto connecting, just tell it "do not ever connect to this one without my express permission".
I recently installed Windows 7, and for some reason my Libraries don't open to My Documents, Music and so on.. I can access my files by typing into the explorers address bar, but clicking anything doesn't do anything, it just stays on the same screen. What's wrong?
Since this is occurring on a relatively new install, I currently have 259GB free out of 297GB on my HD. The My Documents folder only has about 500 mb of Data.
In my address bar, on the left of the star, there is an option Snapback: [Empty] for every site. I haven't seen this before and I don't have the Snapback plugin. Doesn't anyone know where it may have come from and what it does?
I recently upgraded to 3.5.6 on Ubuntu, and may have had some plugins upgraded, but not sure which. I have a ridiculous number of plugins on this comp otherwise I could just try disabling them one at a time.
For SEO purposes, I need someone to modify my .htaccess file.
Here's what I need to do:
current URL: http://www.abc.com/index.php?page=show_type&ord=1
to
new URL: http://www.abc.com/amazing
Please note that that if someone types in http://www.abc.com/amazing, they must be served content from the current URL, but the new URL must stay in the address bar. I tried this and it didn't seem to work
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/?amazing/([^/]+)/([^/]+)/([^/]+)/([^/]+)/([^/]+)/ /index.php?page=show_type&ord=1
On Windows XP, I have a disconnected Wireless connection which shows up in the System Tray.
I have gone into Network Connections dialog box and elected not to show an icon when it is disconnected, yet it remains visible.
I have gone into the Task bar properties and elected to always hide this icon, but that doesn't remove it from the system tray.
How do I remove it?
Thanks
Yahoo messenger is huge:
And that's as short as you can make it, it won't shrink vertically anymore.
How can i make it a more reasonable size, e.g.:
In fact, if we're making it look better, how about Yahoo stops pissing on their users and makes it:
Okay, yes, the last one was me complaining. But the first two are a valid question!
Note: The cut-off title bar is because Yahoo! developers don't pay their taxes, and assume that everyone runs at 96dpi.
Any way to get the total size of files in the Recycle Bin in windows 7 without having to Select All and hit Properties or More Details? This was available in the Status bar in XP, is there any add-in or something that can give a brief summary of the Recycle bin in Windows 7?
Just a short and easy question, I hope.
Currently, I've got a primary domain linked to my (virtual) hosting server.
I now have a second domain name which I would like to link to a specific subdomain, i.e.
domainB.com/X - subdom.domainA.com/X
Preferably without having this redirect show up in the address bar.
Can this be achieved through DNS settings alone, or would it require me to add a .htaccess file in Domain A's root folder?
Hi,
I am quite inexperienced with DNS, so this might be simple.
Our main domain foo.com is hosted at provider A. Now, we would like to host bar.foo.com at some other provider B - they have the domain set up with them, so I figure that I can do this by somehow adding the nameserver at provider B to the DNS configuration at provider A.
The current DNS config is as follows: http://imgur.com/kG099.png
How can I add the new subdomain to this configuration?

When the battery power is down and the unit not plugged in the computer is forced into a sleep mode requiring pushing the start button when power is re-connected. The initial desktop screen appears to be greyed out and is unresponsive with a timer bar which, when the timing sequence is complete restores an active desktop. I can't find any reference to this phenomenon in the OSX literature I have. Any pointers to where I can get more information? Perhaps I am using the wrong search criteria?
Is there any plugin to some IDE that show the number of times a line is run in the code?
Eclipse's ECLemma does not seem to have a setting to show execution times at the left-hand-side bar, like in the service WebCat.
So I'm a dual-booter. I'm looking for an easy way to keep up-to-date symlinks in my Linux home folder pointing to every file and folder in the root of Windows personal directory.
So, say I have foo.txt and bar.txt in C:\Windows\Documents and Settings\Nathaniel. I want symlinks of those files to automatically be made in /home/nathaniel/ (while I'm running Linux, of course).
I want Firefox to redirect bad and broken links to Google search instead of the "Can't find the server" page. If it takes an add-on, that's okay.
When you enter a bad or broken link in Google Chrome, the browser takes you to a search results page with all possibly relevant links to the request attempted.
Please don't suggest the search-tool-bar, I am aware of it. And it's not really significant in this scenario.
After you switch the Start menu to the classic style on a computer that is running a version of Windows Server 2008 without Hyper-V, the Start menu is not displayed correctly. Specifically, a black area unexpectedly appears on the left side of the Start menu. Additionally, the Windows Server 2008 logo bar is displayed horizontally instead of vertically.
How can I get rad of it ?
Hi,
I am using MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.5). On the status bar, check I click the Wireless icon, it said 'Open Network Preferences'
And then in the Network Preference, I click 'AirPort' tab, the status said 'Inactive' But the 'Turn AirPort on' is disabled and the Network Name is disabled as well.
I have unlocked the preference pane as well.
So how can I turn on Airport?
Thank you.
Something went wrong while I was attempting to restore a backup, and KDE System Guard ceased to display properly.
This is the correct display (command running from root: kdesudo ksysguard):
This is the incorrect display (command: ksysguard):
Here in the incorrect display, the menu bar is missing, and the tab "Process Table" is unclickable.
I have already tried to remove the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/ksysguard/ but to no avail.
My question: How do I restore KSysGuard back to factory defaults/normal functionality?
Is there anyway to move the Start Menu button on the taskbar in Windows 7? I've decided to try moving the taskbar to the left so I have more vertical screen real estate, but I would like the start menu to be at the bottom of the bar. Is there anyway to move it?
In Windows 95/XP/Vista I could click on the start menu, "All Programs", and I would get a list of all my programs.
In Windows 7 when I click start menu, "All Programs", I get a single column with a scroll bar - but that's not what I want, I want to see All Programs.
How do I do this? I've looked in the start menu options but cannot find an option that appears to show me all my programs.
I downloaded Silverlight for Safari to use Netflix.
This download has caused my MacBook's volume keys to become non-functional, although I can still change volume through the icon in the menu bar or through system preferences. When I press the keys to change the volume, the transparent volume icon appears on the screen with a circle-slash icon at bottom center.
Does anyone know how to make the keys functional again? I deleted Silverlight but still no sound.
