• mailman not relaying email to external address

  I have a setup of mailman with postfix on an ubuntu server 12.04. My problem is that mailing list emails are not forwarded to email addresses external to my institution. However the initial welcome email is received by everyone, internally and externally. in fact, a simple email from command line with mail is successfully sent to anyone after that, mailing list emails are only forwarded to internal addresses. the domain name I'm using for the server is not that of my institution who is hosting the server. • How to split audio into multiple channels from optical S/PDIF or 1/8"?

  I have a motherboard which has an optical S/PDIF output or 1/8". I'd like to "split" that signal into the appropriate channels so that I can then connect that to the wires behind my car's headunit which, in turn, run to the amp. The factory Bose amp just takes a single connector with a million wires running out of it, so that's why I would need to separate the signal into separate channels. On the other end there are four RCA connectors: front left, front right, rear left, rear right. The sub-woofer signal does not require an additional connection. • With NHibernate, how can I add a child object when updating a parent object?

  I have a simple Parent/Child relationship between a Person object and an Address object. The Person object exists in the DB. After doing a Get on the Person, I add a new Address object to the Address sub-object list of the parent, and do some other updates to the Person object. Finally, I do an Update on the Person object. With a SQL trace window, I can see the update to the Person object to the Person table and the Insert of the Address record to the Address table. The issue is that, after the update is performed, the AddressId (primary key on the Address object) is still set to 0, which is what it defaults to when you first initialize the Address object. I have verified that when I do an Add, this value is set correctly. Is this a known issue when trying to add sub-objects as part of an NHibernate UPDATE? • DOS Batch file to find "new" files by date

  My PC has entered an infinite BSOD loop - but I do have access to a safe-mode command prompt. I'm trying to get an idea of "what changed" that might have triggered this. e.g. I might have gotten a virus, or an app update went belly up. I'd like to thus see which files were created/modified in the last few days/week or at least the *.exe, *.dll, *.com, *.bat etc. I thought I was ok with my Batch-fu but I'm stumped on how to write a quick batch file/command that would list the files for me. REM This will find the files, but the results are all muddled REM all EXE files, reverse sort by date, recursively through sub-directories dir *.exe /O-D /S What I'd really like is to find all (executable filetypes) that were created/modified in the last 3-7 days. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  My university provides a public_html file in each student's Linux directory so tat each student can have a webpage. I want to put all my PHP scripts into that file and place the index in a sub-directory called webroot. I'm trying to work out a way to have an .htaccess file in the public_html that will redirect ALL requests in that folder to be redirected. There's lots of advice on redirecting any file that doesn't exists but I want to redirect regardless of the existence of a file. Can I use something like RewriteCond TRUE?

• Copy files with filter (XP)

  I have a huge folder (over 6GB) with multiple sub-folders that I want to copy onto an external hard drive, however I do not want it to copy any PDF, EXE or ZIP files across to save space. Is there any software that will help me achieve this? I have looked at TeraCopy but this doesn't seem to have any filter mechanism on it. I am using Windows XP (* sigh *). *edit: found the xcopy command, will this do it? Can anyone help me with the syntax?

Whats happening: After dig, answer section empty, the query is trying to access a.root server instead of 192.168.0.197 ,even though i have defined 192.168.0.197 as dns in gateway1's resolv.conf Why? I need this working asap, can anyone here help ?

• Map a drive to root of a server (\\sever) in Vista

  Hi, In Win XP, I can very easily map a network drive to the root of my NAS server. I browse to it in Explorer (\192.168.1.70), choose "Map Network Drive", choose the drive letter, done. In Vista, this does not seem possible. I have to go "Map Network Drive" from 'Computer', then enter the address, but it will only let me map to specific shares (sub-folders off of the server root) and NOT to the server root share. Since my NAS has built-in shares (music, photo, video, etc.) then I would have to have drive letters for all of these, which I absolutely don't want. Can anyone tell me - how come I can easily map to the server root from XP, but not in Vista? Is there something fundamentally different in the networking across the two OS's? Or do I just need to do things a different way? Hope someone can help. Thanks, AT

  I have a 6 images , and each image has a certain section that i want to save as a separate image , the problem is that it has to be accurate because i am doing some animation using the sub-image so they should exactly . so I want to accurately extract a that part from each of the 6 images , i can't do it using a image editor in which i have to make the bounding box myself because it will not be accurate , is there any program that lets me do this by like defining a box using numerical values. PS: I don't want to write matlab or opencv program for this .

• Optimal dir strcuture for keeping millions of files on an ext4 system

  I need to keep millions of files on an ext4 system. I understand that having a structure with multiple subdirectories is the general accepted solution. I wonder what would be the optimal approach in terms of number of dirs/subdirs. For example I tried a structure like 16/16/16/16 (that is, (sub)directories from 1 to 16) and I found that I am able to move 100K files to this structure in 2m50s. When trying to move 100K files to a 8/8/8/8/8/8 structure it took 11 minutes. So the 16/16/16/16 approach seems to be better but I was wondering if anyone has some empirical experience with an even better dir/subdir distribution.

When I look into task manager --processes or by using perfmon memory counters(Sqlserver:memory manager:Target server memory and Total server memory) I am getting high memory utilization by sqlservr.exe process nearly 8 GB (Target server memory counter) and 7.95 GB (Total server memory). and when I restart the MSSQLSERVER service it again shoots up to the same size. I am getting this issue quite frequently. Please help me out in identifying why sql server is using so much memory and how to find out what query , stored procedure etc is making sql server use that much memory. * I am not using any triggers or cursors in my code.   I've got a set of 5000+ files that I need to do a simple search and replace in. I have been doing it in a text editor (EditPlus) by opening 500 files at a time, doing a global search/replace, saving all, closing, etc. But, that's taking literally hours to do and it's boring and tedious and I already have done it once today and need to do it again because all the files got refreshed. Is there a way to do this via the Bash command line? Here's the details: Find onchange="document.location ='/products/view.html/view/'+this.value" Replace it with onchange="alert('Not implemented')" style="display: none" All of the files have a .HTM extension, but they are nested in several sub directories.

• Passenger_wsgi.py given precedence over DirectoryIndex?

  I was having an issue with my site today, where apache wasn't serving index.php by default. I had moved passenger_wsgi.py to the directory above document root so that I could serve python files without having to use PassengerAppRoot in the .htaccess file. I wanted to do this because I set up a development sub-domain on the site, and I wanted to use a different passenger_wsgi for the two domains, but that meant having different .htaccess files for the different PassengerAppRoots. Is there a way to have passenger_wsgi.py where it was and still let apache serve the index.phps? edit: I'm sorry, I'm tired. I just realized that the way this probably works is that passenger_wsgi.py is handling the routing instead of apache.

• Windows 2003-R2-Server: Process "System" takes large chunks of CPU time

  I have a domain controller running 2003 R2. The server behaves very well when restarted daily, however, each day it is not restarted, there's a process called "System" that takes enourmous chunks of CPU time (up to 95%). The server supports AD, WINS, DNS, has Kaspersky Endpoint Security running, and manages backups via Arcserve 15. When I tried so far: Process Explorer (ex-Sysinternals) shows that the "System" process has no sub-processes. In the "Threads" tab of the detailled view I can see that 90% of the CPU time is used up by "ntkrnlpa.exe+0x803c0". The "Interrupts" process is running at 3-5% of CPU time, I'm not sure if this accounts for the amount of CPU time that System takes.

• Windows 2003 Server Intermittent DNS Issues

  Looking for a little help here. I have a Windows 2003 DNS Server set up on our network. Lately computers on our LAN have been, at times, unable to resolve a certain sub domain for our website whereas other times the request is resolved just fine. During these periods of "downtime" all other network activity (i.e web sites, internal resolutions, network shares, etc.) remains normal. I can tell it is a problem with our DNS server because the resolution always works from outside our network. I'm hoping someone out there has experienced something similar or could at least offer me place to start troubleshooting. Thanks!

• MS project publishing to TFS web portal display

  So, when we initially created our MPP schedule, I made use of indends / subordinates to break down the project by the various stages of the lifecycle, which is fine... no issues there... But now that I'm trying to publish this over to TFS display, it'll only pick up the actual "action items / sub-tasks" seeing as I have resource allocation specified. So for example I have an "Analysis" phase with a few items underneath, and "System Requirements" phase with the same items, so when I publish these to TFS, it won't display the "Parent" distinction between items, so both "Tasks" instances are being published in TFS under the exact same name... So, if I can't do this Automatically, I'll likely have edit each tasks with "Analysis - Item 1", "Analysis - item 2", "SRD - Item 1", "SRD - item 2"... is there a way to do this automatically, or will have to go the manual route??

• Windows XP: Slow start menu 'All Programs' response

• Prevent folder deletes at top level only on Server 2008

  I'm trying to prevent folders moves, really folder delete in NTFS parlance, for series of folders within a network share. So let's say I have: FolderA, FolderB, FolderC. Each folder has various files and subfolders. I want the Domain Users group to have modify access to all files and folders beneath FolderA, FolderB, and FolderC. However I don't want them to be able to delete these three top level folders. The issue we are having right now is people keep accidentally dragging one top level folder into another. I've tried used advanced NTFS permissions to deny domain users delete access to these top level folders, and set the permissions to apply to "This folder only", however it seems to only affect sub-folders, and not the top level. Platform is Server 2008 Standard. Thanks in advance.

• Are there any free Windows based BluRay players out there?

  I have a BluRay drive in my PC, and I'm wondering what the cheapest way to actually get it to play a movie is (I didn't expect this to be trouble). I'm using Windows 7. I installed CyberLink PowerDVD 8 (I'm currently downloading 10 but it's taking a very, very long time) and I get the below "error" when trying to watch a BluRay movie: CyberLink PowerDVD is not able to play the protected content on your digital output device. Please switch to an analog output (VGA, D-Sub) and then try again. I can't get VLC to play it and my research yields no plugins for VLC to enable it either - unless I'm vastly missing something. Help!
