  • While running a batch file in Windows 7 with Admin rights from a thumb drive, how can I get the file path back to the thumb drive?

    I have a piece of software that is being distributed to several departments for installation onto Windows 7 laptops. They install software from the thumb drive and then they have to run a script to properly configure the software. Because the script is changing registry files and program files, it requires Admin rights. When running as Admin, it drops into the System32 folder and I no longer have an easy scriptable way to access files that need to be copied from the thumb drive, simply because I don't know for sure what drive letter its going to use on the various machines. Previous installations were on Windows XP and the command window file path stayed within the script folder. I've found similar questions here and I have already tried Relative Paths, but it can't seem to find the proper folder on the thumb drive or I can't seem to find the proper way to format it.

  • How to boot Snow Leopard without Rebel EFI?

    I have Mac OSX 10.5.7 on one hdd and I want to install Snow Leopard 10.6 so I attach another hdd, format it with GUID, and then boot my system using free Rebel EFI disc, then I install the Snow Leopard but in the end the setup fails. When I restart the PC and boot using Rebel EFI it shows Snow Leopard installed. So I boot that in safe mode and it started. My problem is I cannot boot it into safe mode because I have Chameleon already installed for 10.5.7 and in the Chameleon I can not see any option to boot into safe mode? So does someone know how do I boot Snow Leopard?

  • Remote Desktop Connection to the same screen as on the monitor?

    I'm running Windows Home Server on, well, my server. It's in my entertainment center, hooked to my TV, and I use it to listen to music and watch movies. Right now I have a keyboard and mouse stuck beside my TV so that I'm able to load a movie. It would be nice, though, to be able to remotely control the screen. Remote Desktop Connection seems to open its own session in the background, separate from the session shown on the monitor. This doesn't do any good because things started via remote desktop must be closed or changed via remote desktop, and I can't start a movie with remote desktop and then see it from the screen. Is there a way to get Remote Desktop Connection to connect to the visible screen? I am currently using UltraVNC; it was doing the job, but it has its quirks. For instance, the problem just now that prompted me to ask this question; upon trying to connect, UltraVNC informs me that "Server closed connection - The server running as application". This is just one of several problems I've had with it, and I want something that is as reliable and low-maintenance as the built-in Remote Desktop Connection. (and free) If the answer to the above is no, I'm welcome to recommendations for a different remote desktop system to try.

    I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. I tried to copy something into my Pendrive. The copying windows will appear. Now, try to click on the small icon on the left of the title bar. A context menu will appear. Click on the icon again. The context menu will disappear but the copying process is also canceled. So, do you have this problem? Is it a bug?

  • Why are my Windows 7 updates continuously failing?

    I'm an advanced level user here with an odd issue. I have two Windows Updates that are failing to install, every single time. I'm getting a mysterious "Code 1" error on both updates, an error for which I'm having difficulty finding a solution. The updates in question are: Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538243) System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [May 2011] Because these updates are failing, the Shut Down button in my start menu always has the shield icon next to it, indicating that "new" updates will be installed on shut down. But, of course, they'll fail and when the PC is restarted, the shield icon is still there.     I've been trying for many days to get Red5 to install on Ubuntu 10.04. The libraries above should be all that are needed according to Red5's documentation and I got the latest version of each.

  • windows 7 no internet access

    Just did a fresh install of Windows 7, and the network and sharing center says no internet access. Disabling and enabling the adapter seems to fix the issue temporarily, but the internet stops working shortly after. I have installed the latest NIC drivers and have installed all Windows updates. I have also tried manually setting the ip/gateway/dns and running netsh int ip reset in an elevated command prompt. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with a wired connection. I have searched for hours, but have found no working solutions. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • How can I set my bootloader to load my primary (C:) partition?

    I created 4 partitions and want to use them to have seperate Windows XP, Windows 7, (possibly) Windows Vista installations, and "WinDummy" (to test applications in Vista, XP or another OS). I used Norton Ghost to install an OS to the drive in about 3 minutes. My problem is that I installed the spare first on the 4th partition, then Windows 7 on the second. I tried to set the bootloader (with easybcd) to use the first partition - but it doesn't want to. Heres my debug screen on easybcd As you can see, the device is set to H and i cant figure out how to change it. I can make my bootloader use Windows 7 first, but I can't make it use my C: install of XP instead of my spare H:. How would I fix this?     I have the aforementioned keyboard, and occasionally the "Func" key will get unpressed. It gets especially annoying when I try to rename a file, and start winword by accident, or try to refresh a page, and nothing happens (It's the undo - no effect inside a browser usually). I know I can rebind those keys to just do nothing, but I just wanted to know why does the func mode changes by itself? Can it be something with power management/screen saver?

That made me think that there isn't any metadata in an ISO file, just the files content and their properties. However, today I find in ImgBurn that there is a field called Imp ID, which typically contains the software used to create the ISO file. I'm not sure if it is specific to the UDF and/or CDFS filesystem. What are the other possible metadata fields in an ISO file? What software may I use to see them?

  • How to get my external IP address (over NAT) from the Windows command-line?

    The Windows "ipconfig" command can only show me the parameters from the Ethernet interfaces from my machine (even with the "ipconfig /all" argument). It can show detailed information about the interface, but it will never show me my external IP address over a NAT network. However, there are several websites, such as "What is my IP address" that can get and show my external IP address. So I'm wondering, is possible to get this value externally? Should I expect that there is some way to get this information from a command line at my local machine... I need to get this value to log on an application that I'm doing with VBScript. There is some way to do this, from a "cmd" on Windows?

    I have a Samsung 128 go SSD : MZ5PA128HMCD-01000. When I'm using it : there is always I/O errors. I tried to secure-erase it. But it is impossible to create a new NTFS (or any filesystem...) partition because I still get I/O errors. I tought maybe upgrading the firmware will solve the problem. Unfortunately, I'm not able to upgrade the firmware with Samsung SSD Magician Tool ... because Magician says there is no Samsung SSD on my computer... Is there a way to make Magician recognize this Samsung MZ5PA128HMCD-01000 SSD? Is another tool available to flash any firmware on a SSD? What should I do to fix this SSD?

    Hi when I use the command crontab -e to set up cron, the commands get triggered (according to syslog) but nothing happens. Also if I run sudo crontab -e. The only way to actually get cron working is to manually etc /etc/crontab I'm confused, since syslog gives me the same output for both methods. Any ideas for tracing down this bug? Thanks alot!
