  I am using core data trying to create a simple database app, I have an entity called "Game" which has a "creator". I have basically used the iPhone table view template and replaced the names. I have the games listed by creator. Currently the tableview looks like this...   I'm working on a large computer science school project using java and SQlite. After finding out that the zentus.org wrapper errors on databases with ON DELETE and ON UPDATE clauses set, I have changed to the other wrapper found at http://www.ch-werner.de/javasqlite. However, I find the documentation lacking somewhat when trying to get an overview on how it works and how to use it, and the function descriptions are very very short, and you have to scan through every function and somewhat guess how they work and what they do. I wasn't able to find any guides on google on how to use it. My question: Does anyone know a link for a guide or tutorial for the ch-werner.de/javasqlite wrapper, or else can give me a basic code example, or give a quick overview of querying the database and the most used functions, and how to use them?

• Quad channel memory and compatibility

  My motherboard has quad channel memory compatibility. There are 8 memory slots in all: 4 slots are black the other 4 slots are white. I currently have 4 memory modules of 1 GB each in the 4 white slots. That leaves me with 4 free memory slots. My question is: can I put 4 memory modules of 2 GB each in the 4 remaining slots or do I have to use modules of 1 GB all over? • How to de-dupe identical photos that have a slightly different file size?

  I imported many photos using the new "camera import" feature of Dropbox. Many of those were duplicates of photos previously imported by direct copying from the camera. Strangely, the Dropbox import appears to slightly reduce the file size. E.g. here on the right is the file imported through Dropbox: Comparison of the two files using pdiff returns "Images are binary identical", but tools such as fdupes or even the Picasa "show duplicate files" feature, consider them as unique. What can be the cause of this file size change? Is there any way to undo it? Most importantly: how can I de-dupe efficiently without regard to file size comparison? (running pdiff comparison over all photo pairs in my library is obviously impractical...) A solution for either OS X or Windows would do.

• Two strange efficiency problems in Mathematica

  FIRST PROBLEM I have timed how long it takes to compute the following statements (where V[x] is a time-intensive function call): Alice = Table[V[i],{i,1,300},{1000}]; Bob = Table[Table[V[i],{i,1,300}],{1000}]^tr; Chris_pre = Table[V[i],{i,1,300}]; Chris = Table[Chris_pre,{1000}]^tr; Alice, Bob, and Chris are identical matricies computed 3 slightly different ways. I find that Chris is computed 1000 times faster than Alice and Bob. It is not surprising that Alice is computed 1000 times slower because, naively, the function V must be called 1000 more times than when Chris is computed. But it is very surprising that Bob is so slow, since he is computed identically to Chris except that Chris stores the intermediate step Chris_pre. Why does Bob evaluate so slowly? SECOND PROBLEM Suppose I want to compile a function in Mathematica of the form f(x)=x+y where "y" is a constant fixed at compile time (but which I prefer not to directly replace in the code with its numerical because I want to be able to easily change it). If y's actual value is y=7.3, and I define f1=Compile[{x},x+y] f2=Compile[{x},x+7.3] then f1 runs 50% slower than f2. How do I make Mathematica replace "y" with "7.3" when f1 is compiled, so that f1 runs as fast as f2? Many thanks!

  Problem: I have an address field from an Access database which has been converted to Sql Server 2005. This field has everything all in one field. I need to parse out the individual sections of the address into their appropriate fields in a normalized table. I need to do this for approximately 4,000 records and it needs to be repeatable. Here are the rules for this exercise: 1 - no whining about how this should have been separate fields in the first place, we are often confronted with less than ideal situations and have to make the best of them 2- for this post, use any language you want 3- feel free to play code golf 4 - Assume an address in the US (for now) 5 - assume that the input string will sometimes contain an addressee (the person being addressed) and/or a second street address (i.e. Suite B) 6 - states may be abbreviated 7 - zip code could be standard 5 digit or zip+4 8 - there are typos in some instances UPDATE: In response to the questions posed, standards were not universally followed, I need need to store the individual values, not just geocode and errors means typo (corrected above) Sample Data: A. However when the password is incorrect this shows as 2 invalid attempts in AD.   al descargar un archivo a través de cualquier navegador (chrome, firefox, etc) e intentar abrirlo directamente, en vez de abrirse el archivo se abre el directorio en que se descargó. lo mismo me sucedió al intentar abrir un archivo desde el dash de gnome-shell. Esto sólo me sucede con los accesos directos a los archivos, cuando estoy dentro de nautilus se abre el archivo sin problemas. he intentado en distintos entornos de escritorio, el que uso más constantemente es Gnome-Shell, bajo Ubuntu 12.04 ¿cómo lo puedo solucionar?   Post/Install() failed in ISetupManager::InternalInstallManager() with HRESULT -2147023293. - Es el mensaje que aparece en la descripción del error o en los archivos de log. Algunos dicen que si buscas más a detalle encuentras el problema. Después de reintentar la instalación como 8 veces, desinstalando cada vez más cosas, te encuentras con que la solución es sencilla: ¡Desinstala Office! No sé por qué, pero creo que Microsoft asume que si eres un desarrollador, primero instalarás VS2008 y después Office; si lo haces al revés, se generan problemas de compatibilidad (ya que VS2008 instala herramientas de interoperabilidad/desarrollo/conexión con Office, Visual Studio Tools for Office) y la instalación no pasa a veces ni del .net Framework. A final de cuentas, creo, ésta es una medio sencilla.

  Pessoal, nunca foi tão fácil fazer deploy de aplicações ASP.NET 4 no VS 2010, é impressionante a facilidade. Para o Road Show eu criei uma conta no provedor orcsweb que já hospeda .NET 4, fiz uma simples aplicação que inclusive lê um banco de dados e a url é http://173.46.159.126/Default.aspx Durante o Road Show, faremos o deploy ao VIVO e "com emoção", é claro :). O fato é que o ASP.NET permite vc criar diversos Web.Config para seus ambientes de deenvlvimento, testes, homologação, produção, etc, inclusive com características próprias de cada ambiente. Assim, ninguém mais precisa ter aquele Web.Config com toneladas de comentários para rodar em um outro ambiente. Bom, espero todos no road show. abração. Renatão

  hola gente soy nuevo en esto de linux. llevo unos dias estudiandole a el Ubuntu 14.04 64Bits. el tema es que quise bajar un programa y me daban varias obciones entre gnome o KDE. ¿ desconosco si tengo alguno de estos instalados? ¿y quisiera que me podrian decir cual es mejor para ustedes, y como instalarlo de paso?
