  • JAVA: how to load database url from web.xml?

    - by user357255
    I'm using persistence API and want to load jdbc URL from web.xml. URL should be a context parameter of servlet. I can't find how to construct EntityManagerFactory not using persistence.xml. May be I should create PersistenceUnit in servlet and set some parameters? Can you give me some short example? Thank you

  • Spring 3.0: Handler mapping issue

    - by Yaniv Cohen
    I am having a trouble mapping a specific URL request to one of the controllers in my project. the URL is : http://HOSTNAME/api/v1/profiles.json the war which is deployed is: api.war the error I get is the following: [PageNotFound] No mapping found for HTTP request with URI [/api/v1/profiles.json] in DispatcherServlet with name 'action' The configuration I have is the following: web.xml : <context-param> <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> <param-value>/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml,/WEB-INF/applicationContext-security.xml</param-value> </context-param> <!-- Cache Control filter --> <filter> <filter-name>cacheControlFilter</filter-name> <filter-class>org.springframework.web.filter.DelegatingFilterProxy</filter-class> </filter> <!-- Cache Control filter mapping --> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>cacheControlFilter</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> <!-- Spring security filter --> <filter> <filter-name>springSecurityFilterChain</filter-name> <filter-class>org.springframework.web.filter.DelegatingFilterProxy</filter-class> </filter> <!-- Spring security filter mapping --> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>springSecurityFilterChain</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> <!-- Spring listener --> <listener> <listener-class>org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener</listener-class> </listener> <!-- Spring Controller --> <servlet> <servlet-name>action</servlet-name> <servlet-class>org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet</servlet-class> <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>action</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/v1/*</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> The action-servlet.xml: <mvc:annotation-driven/> <bean id="contentNegotiatingViewResolver" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.ContentNegotiatingViewResolver"> <property name="favorPathExtension" value="true" /> <property name="favorParameter" value="true" /> <!-- default media format parameter name is 'format' --> <property name="ignoreAcceptHeader" value="false" /> <property name="order" value="1" /> <property name="mediaTypes"> <map> <entry key="html" value="text/html"/> <entry key="json" value="application/json" /> <entry key="xml" value="application/xml" /> </map> </property> <property name="viewResolvers"> <list> <bean class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.InternalResourceViewResolver"> <property name="prefix" value="/WEB-INF/jsp/"/> <property name="suffix" value=".jsp"/> <property name="viewClass" value="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.JstlView" /> </bean> </list> </property> <property name="defaultViews"> <list> <bean class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.json.MappingJacksonJsonView" /> <bean class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.xml.MarshallingView"> <constructor-arg> <bean class="org.springframework.oxm.xstream.XStreamMarshaller" /> </constructor-arg> </bean> </list> </property> </bean> the application context security: <sec:http auto-config='true' > <sec:intercept-url pattern="/login.*" filters="none"/> <sec:intercept-url pattern="/oauth/**" access="ROLE_USER" /> <sec:intercept-url pattern="/v1/**" access="ROLE_USER" /> <sec:intercept-url pattern="/request_token_authorized.jsp" access="ROLE_USER" /> <sec:intercept-url pattern="/**" access="ROLE_USER"/> <sec:form-login authentication-failure-url ="/login.html" default-target-url ="/login.html" login-page ="/login.html" login-processing-url ="/login.html" /> <sec:logout logout-success-url="/index.html" logout-url="/logout.html" /> </sec:http> the controller: @Controller public class ProfilesController { @RequestMapping(value = {"/v1/profiles"}, method = {RequestMethod.GET,RequestMethod.POST}) public void getProfilesList(@ModelAttribute("response") Response response) { .... } } the request never reaches this controller.   • WPF> Using RadioButtonList style. I want to display user friendly enum strings. how?

    - by Saghar
    Hi WPF lovers, I want to display all the possible enum values as Radio buttons. I am using popular RadioButtonList style to display the radiobutton from my enum using DataProvider in a Listcontrol. I can get all the radio buttons but the text appear with the radio button is not user friendly. I am using the following method. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/wpf/thread/5137aabc-bb3a-478a-9438-bc93dd9cc0ac/ I want to show "A ball" instead of "a" and "B ball" instead of "b" I thought about using converter. But where to use convert. Or any other way to display user friendly values? As this style is very common, thats why I am not writing whole code. If anything not clear, please ask. I have already invested about 5 hours on this problem.

  • PowerShell Script To Find Where SharePoint 2007 Features Are Activated

    - by Brian T. Jackett
    Recently I posted a script to find where SharePoint 2010 Features Are Activated.  I built the original version to use SharePoint 2010 PowerShell commandlets as that saved me a number of steps for filtering and gathering features at each level.  If there was ever demand for a 2007 version I could modify the script to handle that by using the object model instead of commandlets.  Just the other week a fellow SharePoint PFE Jason Gallicchio had a customer asking about a version for SharePoint 2007.  With a little bit of work I was able to convert the script to work against SharePoint 2007.   Solution    Below is the converted script that works against a SharePoint 2007 farm.  Note: There appears to be a bug with the 2007 version that does not give accurate results against a SharePoint 2010 farm.  I ran the 2007 version against a 2010 farm and got fewer results than my 2010 version of the script.  Discussing with some fellow PFEs I think the discrepancy may be due to sandboxed features, a new concept in SharePoint 2010.  I have not had enough time to test or confirm.  For the time being only use the 2007 version script against SharePoint 2007 farms and the 2010 version against SharePoint 2010 farms.    Note: This script is not optimized for medium to large farms.  In my testing it took 1-3 minutes to recurse through my demo environment.  This script is provided as-is with no warranty.  Run this in a smaller dev / test environment first. 001 002 003 004 005 006 007 008 009 010 011 012 013 014 015 016 017 018 019 020 021 022 023 024 025 026 027 028 029 030 031 032 033 034 035 036 037 038 039 040 041 042 043 044 045 046 047 048 049 050 051 052 053 054 055 056 057 058 059 060 061 062 063 064 065 066 067 068 069 070 function Get-SPFeatureActivated { # see full script for help info, removed for formatting [CmdletBinding()] param(     [Parameter(position = 1, valueFromPipeline=$true)]     [string]     $Identity )#end param     Begin     {         # load SharePoint assembly to access object model         [void][System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SharePoint")             # declare empty array to hold results. • django/python: is one view that handles two sibling models a good idea?

    - by clime
    I am using django multi-table inheritance: Video and Image are models derived from Media. I have implemented two views: video_list and image_list, which are just proxies to media_list. media_list returns images or videos (based on input parameter model) for a certain object, which can be of type Event, Member, or Crag. The view alters its behaviour based on input parameter action (better name would be mode), which can be of value "edit" or "view". The problem is that I need to ask whether the input parameter model contains Video or Image in media_list so that I can do the right thing. Similar condition is also in helper method media_edit_list that is called from the view. I don't particularly like it but the only alternative I can think of is to have separate (but almost the same) logic for video_list and image_list and then probably also separate helper methods for videos and images: video_edit_list, image_edit_list, video_view_list, image_view_list. So four functions instead of just two. That I like even less because the video functions would be very similar to the respective image functions. What do you recommend? Here is extract of relevant parts: http://pastebin.com/07t4bdza. I'll also paste the code here: #urls url(r'^media/images/(?P<rel_model_tag>(event|member|crag))/(?P<rel_object_id>\d+)/(?P<action>(view|edit))/$', views.image_list, name='image-list') url(r'^media/videos/(?P<rel_model_tag>(event|member|crag))/(?P<rel_object_id>\d+)/(?P<action>(view|edit))/$', views.video_list, name='video-list') #views def image_list(request, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode): return media_list(request, Image, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode) def video_list(request, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode): return media_list(request, Video, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode) def media_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode): rel_model = tag_to_model(rel_model_tag) rel_object = get_object_or_404(rel_model, pk=rel_object_id) if model == Image: star_media = rel_object.star_image else: star_media = rel_object.star_video filter_params = {} if rel_model == Event: filter_params['event'] = rel_object_id elif rel_model == Member: filter_params['members'] = rel_object_id elif rel_model == Crag: filter_params['crag'] = rel_object_id media_list = model.objects.filter(~Q(id=star_media.id)).filter(**filter_params).order_by('date_added').all() context = { 'media_list': media_list, 'star_media': star_media, } if mode == 'edit': return media_edit_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, context) return media_view_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, context) def media_view_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, context): if request.is_ajax(): context['base_template'] = 'boxes/base-lite.html' return render(request, 'media/list-items.html', context) def media_edit_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, context): if model == Image: get_media_edit_record = get_image_edit_record else: get_media_edit_record = get_video_edit_record media_list = [get_media_edit_record(media, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id) for media in context['media_list']] if context['star_media']: star_media = get_media_edit_record(context['star_media'], rel_model_tag, rel_object_id) else: star_media = None json = simplejson.dumps({ 'star_media': star_media, 'media_list': media_list, }) return HttpResponse(json, content_type=json_response_mimetype(request)) def get_image_edit_record(image, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id): record = { 'url': image.image.url, 'name': image.title or image.filename, 'type': mimetypes.guess_type(image.image.path)[0] or 'image/png', 'thumbnailUrl': image.thumbnail_2.url, 'size': image.image.size, 'id': image.id, 'media_id': image.media_ptr.id, 'starUrl':reverse('image-star', kwargs={'image_id': image.id, 'rel_model_tag': rel_model_tag, 'rel_object_id': rel_object_id}), } return record def get_video_edit_record(video, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id): record = { 'url': video.embed_url, 'name': video.title or video.url, 'type': None, 'thumbnailUrl': video.thumbnail_2.url, 'size': None, 'id': video.id, 'media_id': video.media_ptr.id, 'starUrl': reverse('video-star', kwargs={'video_id': video.id, 'rel_model_tag': rel_model_tag, 'rel_object_id': rel_object_id}), } return record #   • How to Achieve OC4J RMI Load Balancing

    - by fip
    This is an old, Oracle SOA and OC4J 10G topic. In fact this is not even a SOA topic per se. Questions of RMI load balancing arise when you developed custom web applications accessing human tasks running off a remote SOA 10G cluster. Having returned from a customer who faced challenges with OC4J RMI load balancing, I felt there is still some confusions in the field how OC4J RMI load balancing work. Hence I decide to dust off an old tech note that I wrote a few years back and share it with the general public. Here is the tech note: Overview A typical use case in Oracle SOA is that you are building web based, custom human tasks UI that will interact with the task services housed in a remote BPEL 10G cluster. Or, in a more generic way, you are just building a web based application in Java that needs to interact with the EJBs in a remote OC4J cluster. In either case, you are talking to an OC4J cluster as RMI client. Then immediately you must ask yourself the following questions: 1. How do I make sure that the web application, as an RMI client, even distribute its load against all the nodes in the remote OC4J cluster? 2. How do I make sure that the web application, as an RMI client, is resilient to the node failures in the remote OC4J cluster, so that in the unlikely case when one of the remote OC4J nodes fail, my web application will continue to function? That is the topic of how to achieve load balancing with OC4J RMI client. Solutions You need to configure and code RMI load balancing in two places: 1. Provider URL can be specified with a comma separated list of URLs, so that the initial lookup will land to one of the available URLs. 2. Choose a proper value for the oracle.j2ee.rmi.loadBalance property, which, along side with the PROVIDER_URL property, is one of the JNDI properties passed to the JNDI lookup.(http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28958/rmi.htm#BABDGFBI) More details below: About the PROVIDER_URL The JNDI property java.name.provider.url's job is, when the client looks up for a new context at the very first time in the client session, to provide a list of RMI context The value of the JNDI property java.name.provider.url goes by the format of a single URL, or a comma separate list of URLs. A single URL. For example: opmn:ormi://host1:6003:oc4j_instance1/appName1 A comma separated list of multiple URLs. For examples:  opmn:ormi://host1:6003:oc4j_instanc1/appName, opmn:ormi://host2:6003:oc4j_instance1/appName, opmn:ormi://host3:6003:oc4j_instance1/appName When the client looks up for a new Context the very first time in the client session, it sends a query against the OPMN referenced by the provider URL. The OPMN host and port specifies the destination of such query, and the OC4J instance name and appName are actually the “where clause” of the query. When the PROVIDER URL reference a single OPMN server Let's consider the case when the provider url only reference a single OPMN server of the destination cluster. In this case, that single OPMN server receives the query and returns a list of the qualified Contexts from all OC4Js within the cluster, even though there is a single OPMN server in the provider URL. A context represent a particular starting point at a particular server for subsequent object lookup. For example, if the URL is opmn:ormi://host1:6003:oc4j_instance1/appName, then, OPMN will return the following contexts: appName on oc4j_instance1 on host1 appName on oc4j_instance1 on host2, appName on oc4j_instance1 on host3,  (provided that host1, host2, host3 are all in the same cluster) Please note that One OPMN will be sufficient to find the list of all contexts from the entire cluster that satisfy the JNDI lookup query. You can do an experiment by shutting down appName on host1, and observe that OPMN on host1 will still be able to return you appname on host2 and appName on host3. When the PROVIDER URL reference a comma separated list of multiple OPMN servers When the JNDI propery java.naming.provider.url references a comma separated list of multiple URLs, the lookup will return the exact same things as with the single OPMN server: a list of qualified Contexts from the cluster. The purpose of having multiple OPMN servers is to provide high availability in the initial context creation, such that if OPMN at host1 is unavailable, client will try the lookup via OPMN on host2, and so on. After the initial lookup returns and cache a list of contexts, the JNDI URL(s) are no longer used in the same client session. That explains why removing the 3rd URL from the list of JNDI URLs will not stop the client from getting the EJB on the 3rd server. About the oracle.j2ee.rmi.loadBalance Property After the client acquires the list of contexts, it will cache it at the client side as “list of available RMI contexts”.  This list includes all the servers in the destination cluster. This list will stay in the cache until the client session (JVM) ends. The RMI load balancing against the destination cluster is happening at the client side, as the client is switching between the members of the list. Whether and how often the client will fresh the Context from the list of Context is based on the value of the  oracle.j2ee.rmi.loadBalance. The documentation at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28958/rmi.htm#BABDGFBI list all the available values for the oracle.j2ee.rmi.loadBalance. Value Description client If specified, the client interacts with the OC4J process that was initially chosen at the first lookup for the entire conversation. context Used for a Web client (servlet or JSP) that will access EJBs in a clustered OC4J environment. If specified, a new Context object for a randomly-selected OC4J instance will be returned each time InitialContext() is invoked. lookup Used for a standalone client that will access EJBs in a clustered OC4J environment. If specified, a new Context object for a randomly-selected OC4J instance will be created each time the client calls Context.lookup(). Please note the regardless of the setting of oracle.j2ee.rmi.loadBalance property, the “refresh” only occurs at the client. The client can only choose from the "list of available context" that was returned and cached from the very first lookup. That is, the client will merely get a new Context object from the “list of available RMI contexts” from the cache at the client side. The client will NOT go to the OPMN server again to get the list. That also implies that if you are adding a node to the server cluster AFTER the client’s initial lookup, the client would not know it because neither the server nor the client will initiate a refresh of the “list of available servers” to reflect the new node. About High Availability (i.e. Resilience Against Node Failure of Remote OC4J Cluster) What we have discussed above is about load balancing. Let's also discuss high availability. This is how the High Availability works in RMI: when the client use the context but get an exception such as socket is closed, it knows that the server referenced by that Context is problematic and will try to get another unused Context from the “list of available contexts”. Again, this list is the list that was returned and cached at the very first lookup in the entire client session.

  • Doctrine2 ArrayCollection

    - by boosis
    Ok, I have a User entity as follows <?php class User { /** * @var integer * @Id * @Column(type="integer") * @GeneratedValue */ protected $id; /** * @var \Application\Entity\Url[] * @OneToMany(targetEntity="Url", mappedBy="user", cascade={"persist", "remove"}) */ protected $urls; public function __construct() { $this->urls = new \Doctrine\Common\Collections\ArrayCollection(); } public function addUrl($url) { // This is where I have a problem } } Now, what I want to do is check if the User has already the $url in the $urls ArrayCollection before persisting the $url. Now some of the examples I found says we should do something like if (!$this->getUrls()->contains($url)) { // add url } but this doesn't work as this compares the element values. As the $url doesn't have id value yet, this will always fail and $url will be dublicated. So I'd really appreciate if someone could explain how I can add an element to the ArrayCollection without persisting it and avoiding the duplication? Edit I have managed to achive this via $p = function ($key, $element) use ($url) { if ($element->getUrlHash() == $url->getUrlHash()) { return true; } else { return false; } }; But doesn't this still load all urls and then performs the check? I don't think this is efficient as there might be thousands of urls per user.

  • Tinyurl API Example - Am i doing it right :D

    - by Paul Weber
    Hi ... we use super-long Hashes for the Registration of new Users in our Application. The Problem is that these Hashes break in some Email Clients - making the Links unusable. I tried implementing the Tinyurl - API, with a simple Call, but i think it times out sometimes ... sometimes the mail does not reach the user. I updated the Code, but now the URL is never converted. Is Tinyurl really so slow or am i doing something wrong? (I mean hey, 5 Seconds is much in this Times) Can anybody recommend me a more reliable service? All my Fault, forgot a false in the fopen. But i will leave this sample of code here, because i often see this sample, wich i think does not work very reliable: return file_get_contents('http://tinyurl.com/api-create.php?url='.$u); This is the - i think fully working sample. I would like to hear about Improvements. static function gettinyurl( $url ) { $context = stream_context_create( array( 'http' => array( 'timeout' => 5 // 5 Seconds should be enough ) ) ); // get tiny url via api-create.php $fp = fopen( 'http://tinyurl.com/api-create.php?url='.$url, 'r', $context); // open (read) api-create.php with long url as get parameter if( $fp ) { // check if open was ok $tinyurl = fgets( $fp ); // read response if( $tinyurl && !empty($tinyurl) ) // check if response is ok $url = $tinyurl; // set response as url fclose( $fp ); // close connection } // return return $url; // return (tiny) url }

  • Is there an MVVM-friendly way to swap views without value converters firing unnecessarily?

    - by DanM
    I thought what I was doing was right out of the Josh Smith MVVM handbook, but I seem to be having a lot of problems with value converters firing when no data in the view-model has changed. So, I have a ContentControl defined in XAML like this: <ContentControl Grid.Row="0" Content="{Binding CurrentViewModel}" /> The Window containing this ContentControl references a resource dictionary that looks something like this: <ResourceDictionary ...> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type lib_vm:SetupPanelViewModel}"> <lib_v:SetupPanel /> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type lib_vm:InstructionsPanelViewModel}"> <lib_v:InstructionsPanel /> </DataTemplate> </ResourceDictionary> So, basically, the two data templates specify which view to show with which view-model. This switches the views as expected whenever the CurrentViewModel property on my window's view-model changes, but it also seems to cause value converters on the views to fire even when no data has changed. It's a particular problem with IMultiValueConverter classes, because the values in the value array get set to DependencyProperty.UnsetValue, which causes exceptions unless I specifically check for that. But I'm getting other weird side effects too. This has me wondering if I shouldn't just do everything manually, like this: Instantiate each view. Set the DataContext of each view to the appropriate view-model. Give the ContentControl a name and make it public. Handle the PropertyChanged event for the window. In the event handler, manually set the Content property of the ContentControl to the appropriate view, based the CurrentViewModel (using if statements). This seems to work, but it also seems very inelegant. I'm hoping there's a better way. Could you please advise me the best way to handle view switching so that value converters don't fire unnecessarily?

  • Initial text and paperclipped-URL for action in UIActivityViewController & UIActivityItemSource?

    - by Benjamin Kreeger
    Finally been making it through Apple's (rather dismal) documentation on the new UIActivityViewController class and the UIActivityItemSource protocol, and I'm trying to send different data sets to different actions called from the activity view. To simplify things, I'm looking at two things. A Facebook posting action, which should say "Check this out!" and also attach a URL to the post (with that cute little paperclip). A Twitter posting action, which should say "Check this out, with #hashtag!" and also attach that same URL (with the same paperclip). Here's the code I've got implemented right now. - (id)activityViewController:(UIActivityViewController *)activityViewController itemForActivityType:(NSString *)activityType { if ([activityType isEqualToString:UIActivityTypePostToFacebook]) { return @"Check this out!"; } else if ([activityType isEqualToString:UIActivityTypePostToTwitter]) { return @"Check this out, with #hashtag!"; } return @""; } - (id)activityViewControllerPlaceholderItem:(UIActivityViewController *)activityViewController { return @""; } And then when I set up this activity view controller (it's in the same class), this is what I do. UIActivityViewController *activityView = [[UIActivityViewController alloc] initWithActivityItems:@[self] applicationActivities:nil]; [self presentViewController:activityView animated:YES completion:nil]; My dilemma is how to attach that NSURL object. It's relatively easy when calling the iOS 6 SL-class posting modals; you just call the individual methods to attach a URL or an image. How would I go about doing this here? I'll note that instead of returning NSString objects from -activityViewController:itemForActivityType, if I return just NSURL objects, they show up with that paperclip, with no body text in the post. If I return an array of those two items, nothing shows up at all.

  • Javascript function to add class to a list element based on # in url.

    - by Jason
    I am trying to create a javascript function to add and remove a class to a list element based on the #tag at the end of the url on a page. The page has several different states, each with a different # in the url. I am currently using this script to change the style of a given element based on the # in the url when the user first loads the page, however if the user navigates to a different section of the page the style added on the page load stays, I would like it to change. <script type="text/javascript"> var hash=location.hash.substring(1); if (hash == 'strategy'){ document.getElementById('strategy_link').style.backgroundPosition ="-50px"; } if (hash == 'branding'){ document.getElementById('branding_link').style.backgroundPosition ="-50px"; } if (hash == 'marketing'){ document.getElementById('marketing_link').style.backgroundPosition ="-50px"; } if (hash == 'media'){ document.getElementById('media_link').style.backgroundPosition ="-50px"; } if (hash == 'management'){ document.getElementById('mangement_link').style.backgroundPosition ="-50px"; } if (hash == ''){ document.getElementById('shop1').style.display ="block"; } </script> Additionally, I am using a function to change the class of the element onClick, but when a user comes to a specific # on the page directly from another page and then clicks to a different location, two elements appear active. <script type="text/javascript"> function selectInList(obj) { $("#circularMenu").children("li").removeClass("highlight"); $(obj).addClass("highlight"); } </script> You can see this here: http://www.perksconsulting.com/dev/capabilities.php#branding Thanks.

  • Is there an easy way to make `boost::ptr_vector` more debugger friendly in Visual Studio?

    - by Billy ONeal
    I'm considering using boost::ptr_container as a result of the responses from this question. My biggest problem with the library is that I cannot view the contents of the collection in the debugger, because the MSVC debugger doesn't recognize it, and therefore I cannot see the contents of the containers. (All the data gets stored as void * internally) I've heard MSVC has a feature called "debugger visualizers" which would allow the user to make the debugger smarter about these kinds of things, but I've never written anything like this, and I'm not hugely firmiliar with such things. For example, compare the behavior of boost::shared_ptr with MSVC's own std::tr1::shared_ptr. In the debugger (i.e. in the Watch window), the boost version shows up as a big mess of internal variables used for implementing the shared pointer, but the MSVC version shows up as a plain pointer to the object (and the shared_ptr's innards are hidden). How can I get started either using or implementing such a thing?

  • Is there any user-friendly way to deliver an In-app purchase subscription to multiple devices?

    - by mkvakin
    Hi everybody, Apple requires an in-app purchase subscription purchased on one device to be available on all devices associated with the user: “...subscriptions must be provided on all devices associated with a user. In App Purchase expects subscriptions to be delivered through an external server that you will provide. You must provide infrastructure to deliver subscriptions to multiple devices.” Is there any way to propagate a subscription to another device transparently without user having to create a server side user account and log in each time he needs to enable the subscription on another device? E.g. by reading a username from some kind of API and using it as a key on a server to store information about subscriptions. I tried to find an API for retrieving user account info but couldn't find any.

  • Any way for a server-side include to get the file name or URL of the file where it is being included

    - by mikez302
    Is there any way for a server-side include to determine what file it is being included in? I would like to do something like this: <ul id="menu"> <!--#if expr="$URL = index.html" --> <li><span>Home</span></li> <!--#else --> <li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li> <!--#endif --> <!--#if expr="$URL = about.html" --> <li><span>About us</span></li> <!--#else --> <li><a href="about.html">About us</a></li> <!--#endif --> <!--#if expr="$URL = contact.html" --> <li><span>Contact us</span></li> <!--#else --> <li><a href="contact.html">Contact us</a></li> <!--#endif --> </ul> I just need to know if it is possible using server-side includes, and if so, what the syntax would be.

  • Providing lat/long AND title in iOS Maps URL seems to cause zoom level to be ignored

    - by Ian Howson
    I'm writing an iOS app that shows a location in Maps upon a user action. I'd like to drop a pin with a description and zoom in to show map detail. If I invoke Maps with the url http://maps.google.com/maps?q=-33.895851,151.18483+(Some+Description)&z=19 I get a pin with 'Some Description', but the zoom level is ignored. This does work on the Google Maps website. If I use http://maps.google.com/maps?q=-33.895851,151.18483&z=19 the zoom works, but I get no pin. I've tried a few combinations of ?q=, ?ll= and ?sll=, but so far, nothing will change zoom and show a description. Any clues? Just so we're really clear, here are some screenshots. I want this to work on a real device (i.e. with iOS Maps). The simulator uses Google Maps through Safari. Here's what I see with URL 1 ([[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString: @"http://maps.google.com/maps?q=-33.895851,151.18483+(Some+Description)&z=19"]];) This is URL 2 ([[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString: @"http://maps.google.com/maps?q=-33.895851,151.18483&z=19"]];): This is relikd's suggestion ([[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString: @"http://maps.google.com/maps?z=19&q=-33.895851,151.18483+(Some+Description)"]];): I want the image I see in screenshot 2, but with a pin and a description.

  • How to deal with Unicode strings in C/C++ in a cross-platform friendly way?

    - by Sorin Sbarnea
    On platforms different than Windows you could easily use char * strings and treat them as UTF-8. The problem is that on Windows you are required to accept and send messages using wchar* strings (W). If you'll use the ANSI functions (A) you will not support Unicode. So if you want to write truly portable application you need to compile it as Unicode on Windows. Now, In order to keep the code clean I would like to see what is the recommended way of dealing with strings, a way that minimize ugliness in the code. Type of strings you may need: std::string, std::wstring, std::tstring,char *,wchat_t *, TCHAR*, CString (ATL one). Issues you may encounter: cout/cerr/cin and their Unicode variants wcout,wcerr,wcin all renamed wide string functions and their TCHAR macros - like strcmp, wcscmp and _tcscmp. constant strings inside code, with TCHAR you will have to fill your code with _T() macros. What approach do you see as being best? (examples are welcome) Personally I would go for a std::tstring approach but I would like to see how would do to the conversions where they are necessary.

  • Any ideas for developing a Risc Processor friendly string allocator?

    - by Richard Fabian
    I'm working on some tools to enable high throughput data-oriented development, and one thing that I've not got an immediate answer for is how you go about allocating strings quickly. On risc processors you've got another problem of implementation that the CPU doesn't like branching, which is what I'm trying to minimise or avoid. Also, cache coherence is important on most CPUs, so that's gotta be influential in the design too. So, how would you go about reducing the overhead for a generic string allocator? Sometimes it's easier to solve a more explicit problem, so any ideas for string sizes of 5-30?

  • curl_multi_exec stops if one url is 404, how can I change that?

    - by Rob
    Currently, my cURL multi exec stops if one url it connects to doesn't work, so a few questions: 1: Why does it stop? That doesn't make sense to me. 2: How can I make it continue? EDIT: Here is my code: $SQL = mysql_query("SELECT url FROM shells") ; $mh = curl_multi_init(); $handles = array(); while($resultSet = mysql_fetch_array($SQL)){ //load the urls and send GET data $ch = curl_init($resultSet['url'] . $fullcurl); //Only load it for two seconds (Long enough to send the data) curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 5); curl_multi_add_handle($mh, $ch); $handles[] = $ch; } // Create a status variable so we know when exec is done. $running = null; //execute the handles do { // Call exec. This call is non-blocking, meaning it works in the background. curl_multi_exec($mh,$running); // Sleep while it's executing. You could do other work here, if you have any. sleep(2); // Keep going until it's done. } while ($running > 0); // For loop to remove (close) the regular handles. foreach($handles as $ch) { // Remove the current array handle. curl_multi_remove_handle($mh, $ch); } // Close the multi handle curl_multi_close($mh);

  • HTTP POST with URL query parameters -- good idea or not?

    - by Steven Huwig
    I'm designing an API to go over HTTP and I am wondering if using the HTTP POST command, but with URL query parameters only and no request body, is a good way to go. Considerations: "Good Web design" requires non-idempotent actions to be sent via POST. This is a non-idempotent action. It is easier to develop and debug this app when the request parameters are present in the URL. The API is not intended for widespread use. It seems like making a POST request with no body will take a bit more work, e.g. a Content-Length: 0 header must be explicitly added. It also seems to me that a POST with no body is a bit counter to most developer's and HTTP frameworks' expectations. Are there any more pitfalls or advantages to sending parameters on a POST request via the URL query rather than the request body? Edit: The reason this is under consideration is that the operations are not idempotent and have side effects other than retrieval. See the HTTP spec: In particular, the convention has been established that the GET and HEAD methods SHOULD NOT have the significance of taking an action other than retrieval. These methods ought to be considered "safe". This allows user agents to represent other methods, such as POST, PUT and DELETE, in a special way, so that the user is made aware of the fact that a possibly unsafe action is being requested. ... Methods can also have the property of "idempotence" in that (aside from error or expiration issues) the side-effects of N 0 identical requests is the same as for a single request. The methods GET, HEAD, PUT and DELETE share this property. Also, the methods OPTIONS and TRACE SHOULD NOT have side effects, and so are inherently idempotent.

  • is it better to test if a function is needed inside or outside of it?

    - by b0x0rz
    what is the best practice? call a function then return if you test for something, or test for something then call? i prefer the test inside of function because it makes an easier viewing of what functions are called. for example: protected void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.FixURLCosmetics(); } and private void FixURLCosmetics() { HttpContext context = HttpContext.Current; if (!context.Request.HttpMethod.ToString().Equals("GET", StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase)) { // if not a GET method cancel url cosmetics return; }; string url = context.Request.RawUrl.ToString(); bool doRedirect = false; // remove > default.aspx if (url.EndsWith("/default.aspx", StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase)) { url = url.Substring(0, url.Length - 12); doRedirect = true; } // remove > www if (url.Contains("//www")) { url = url.Replace("//www", "//"); doRedirect = true; } // redirect if necessary if (doRedirect) { context.Response.Redirect(url); } } is this good: if (!context.Request.HttpMethod.ToString().Equals("GET", StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase)) { // if not a GET method cancel url cosmetics return; }; or should that test be done in Application_BeginRequest? what is better? thnx

  • How do I get the Mac OS X 'quick look' feature to be more programmer-friendly?

    - by Lee
    There are numerous text files that are always included in common downloads such as rails plugins: LICENSE, ChangeLog, Rakefile, etc. I know these files are plain-text, but Mac OS X refuses to acknowledge this automatically. If I hit the spacebar in Finder to activate "quick look", the icon becomes huge but the contents of the file are not shown, presumably because they have no file extension. How do I stop this madness so I can quickly look at READMEs just by hitting the spacebar? I've already got a ton of text editors installed on my mac: this question is purely about efficiency and making simple files accessible as quickly as possible.
