• The whole site is blocked while one page is waiting for blocking operation (PHP, ASP.NET). Why?

  Good day! I've found interesting behaviour for both LAMP stack and ASP.NET. The scenario: There is page performing task in 2-3 minutes (making HttpWebRequest for ASP.NET and curl for PHP). While this page is processed all other requests to this virtual host from the same browser are not processed (even if I use different browsers from one machine). I use two pages written in PHP and C#. I've tested with Apache+PHP in both mod_php and fast_cgi modes on Windows and Debian. For ASP.NET I use IIS6 (with dedicated app pool for this site and with default app pool) and IIS7 in integrated mode. I know that it is better to use async calls for such things, but I'm just curious why single page blocks the entire site and not only the thread processing the request? Thanks in advance!

  Hello, I had inserted two jQuery tabs on my site. One div container had the id - tabs and another had the id tabs-for-views. Both of them were working fine till sometime ago, until i made some changes. I don't remember what the exact changes were.. Right now, the first tab uses the jQuery UI theme I am using. As in, I can see the tab navigation and content panels - but on clicking the tabs nothing happens. But the second (tabs-for-views) is not even converted to proper tabs format. • How do I access the ASP.NET Configuration Tool when a site is live? This is ASP.NET MVC.

  I was wondering if it's possible to access the ASP.NET Configuration Tool once a site is live. To be able to create and edit users and roles is obviously very important, and from what I've been reading, once a site is deployed, the Configuration Tool is no longer accessible. If this is the case, HOW do I add users, etc.? By the way, I found a User Management plugin which brings a lot of the Configuration Tool's capabilities to the front end of a User Management section of the deployed website, but it DOES NOT offer the capability to add a new user. Help??? Thanks!!

• Debian crashed, file system is read-only and cannot backup - How Do I find/mount a USB drive?

  We have a Debian server (vm's) here at work and the server crashed after a power failure. I can only boot the system in maintenance mode, and the whole file system is set to read only. I can run fsck though maintenance mode, however I would like to get a backup of some files before I do. Problem: I cannot access the net since there is no network connectivity in maintenance mode, and for some reason I try to add a USB flash drive to the computer but I can't find it through the console. Question: how to you find/mount a usb drive on Debian? I have tried several resources from the internet but nothing worked. Is there any other way I could get a backup of my files? I cannot start networking since the filesystem is set to read only. Any help would be appreciated.

  Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.1 Group Fix 4 is available from My Oracle Support as Patch 13523301. This Group Fix contains a number of enhancements and keeps fixes up to date to the latest patch level. The enhancements included in this Group Fix include: UI Hints - In previous group fixes of the Oracle Utilities Application Framework the infrastructure to support UI Hints was introduced. This group fix completes the release of this functionality. Prior to this enhancement, products and implementers typically would build at least one UI Map per Business Object to display and/or maintain the object. Whilst, this can be generated using the UI Map maintenance function and stored, this enhancement allows additional tags and elements to be added to the Business Object directly to allow dynamic generation of the UI Map for maintenance and viewing the object. This reduces the need to generate and build a UI Map at all for that object. This will reduce maintenance effort of maintaining the product and implementation by eliminating the need to maintain the HTML for the UI Map. WCF Method : SaveProfile(ProfileDTO profile) Current Version 1.0 ProfileDTO have the following UserName Password FirstName DOB (In string yyyy-mm-dd) CreatedDate (In string yyyy-mm-dd) Next Version (V2.0) ProfileDTO have the following UserName Password FirstName DOB (In UnixTimeStamp) CreatedDate (In UnixTimeStamp) Version 3.0 ProfileDTO have the following (With change in UserName and Password length validation) UserName Password FirstName DOB (In UnixTimeStamp) CreatedDate (In UnixTimeStamp) In simple we have DataContract and Workflow change between each version 1. How do I name the methods in WCF Service and Main Class Lib1? 2. Do I have to go with any specific pattern for ease development and maintenance? 3. Do I have to have different endpoints for different version? In the above example I have a method named “SaveProfile”. Do I have to name the methods like “SaveProfile1.0”, “SaveProfile2.0”, etc. If that is the case when there is no change between Version “3.0” and “4.0” then there will difficult in maintenance. • Solution for installing the ADF 11.1.1.6.0 Runtimes onto a standalone WLS 10.3.6

  A few customers are hitting the following problem with regards to JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 so it's worth documenting a solution. As noted in my previous post the ADF Runtimes for JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 will work against a 10.3.5 and 10.3.6 WLS server.  In terms of the JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 download Oracle has coupled the 10.3.5 server with that release, not a 10.3.6 server. This has caught some customers out as they are attempting to use the JDeveloper installer to load the 11.1.1.6.0 ADF Runtimes into the middleware home of a standalone 10.3.6 WLS server.  When doing so the installer complains as follows: "The product maintenance level of the current server (WebLogic Server: 10.3.5.0) is not compatible with the maintenance level of the product installed on your system (WebLogic Server: 10.3.6.0).  Please obtain a compatible installer or perform maintenance or your current system to achieve the desired level." The solution is to install the runtimes using the standalone 11.1.1.6.0 ADF Runtime Libraries installer available from OTN (see the options under "Application Development Runtime").

  I have an discount asp.net account, which uses IIS 7 and I want to configure subdomains to point at specific applications on the site. For instance: 's1.site.com' would run the application at 'site.com/serverone'. I would like the subdomain to be opaque so that users do not have to deal with the /serverone part. There was a similar question on server fault, but it involves creating a whole new site for each subdomain, where as I would rather just create independent websites.

  We're sending out 1000's of mails per day from our site (mainly "click here to verify your subscription") and too many are getting flagged by spam (mainly hotmail). One of the things I noticed in the headers is X-Authentication-Warning: srv01.site.com: www-data set sender to [email protected] using -f Is this something I should be worried about, that may cause spam flags to raise?   I have 2 websites, site A running on port 80 and site B configured to run on port 8080. I can access site A no problem, but site B I can only access from the local web server machine. Externally it is not accessable, I have tried the url and ip and neither work. I have tried different configuring on port 8081 as a test and that didnt work either. What IIS settings should I look at?

• Changing Physical Path gives blank homepage

  I have two websites ASP Classic - www.company.com and www.companytesting.com. At this time of year, company.com is pointed to a folder called website2012 and companytesting.com is pointing to a folder called website2013. The contents of those two folders are almost identical, just minor changes for our season change (which I was supposed to do today - lol). Up until a couple of weeks ago, I was running Windows Server 2003. To update the "live" website, I'd make a copy of the test site folder, and rename it website2013R1, and point the test site there, then point the live site at website2012. We now have Windows Server 2008 R2 64. (I had someone migrate the websites to the new server for me.) The companytesting.com site, when I pointed it to website2013R1, worked fine. The company.com site, when I pointed it to website2013 (which worked just before, for the companytesting.com site) gives an empty page. (i.e. view source = nothing there.) There is nothing in the failed request log when this happens. I can use the Explore button/link (upper right) in IIS7.5 and see all of the files there. If I use the browse button (either in general or on the index.asp page) I get the blank page again. One weirdness about how these are set up is that companytesting.com uses a login (which I think is windows authentication - it's simply a single username and password for staff, and to keep the GoogleBots out of it). Obviously, company.com does not. But redirecting the to website2013r1 kept the login in place. (So I'm not absolutely clear whether that's attached to the folder or to the site. Hitting the company.com site after changing the path did not yield a password request.) The permissions on the folders all seem to be the same, but obviously, I'm missing something. Why isn't changing the physical path working? As is probably obvious, I'm not knowledgeable about servers. I did OK in 2003, but since it's not my main task and I'm buried right now, I have barely looked at 2008. So I may have really stupid questions when you ask me to check something.

Now I need a unique zip and then after unzip it I want to see this structure: - Site 1 --- public - Site 2 --- public - others Any suggestion how I can do that with linux commands zip/tar ? In the puppet manifests directory that I point Vagrant to (see below) I have two manifests that I want executed: site.pp and hierasetup.pp. config.vm.provision "puppet" do |puppet| puppet.manifests_path = "puppet_files/manifests" puppet.module_path = "puppet_files/modules" puppet.manifest_file = "site.pp" puppet.options = "--verbose --debug" end Currently I am having site.pp be the manifest that calls hierasetup.pp. My site.pp looks like this: File { owner => 'root', group => 'root', mode => '0644', } import "hierasetup.pp" include jboss But I get this error about the deprecation of "import": Warning: The use of 'import' is deprecated at /tmp/vagrant-puppet-1/manifests/site.pp:33. See http://links.puppetlabs.com/puppet-import-deprecation (at grammar.ra:610:in `_reduce_190') According to the referenced URL under "Things to try instead" it says "To keep your node definitions in separate files, specify a directory as your main manifest". Further this puppet doc on main manifests says: "Recommended: If you’re using the main manifest heavily instead of relying on an ENC, consider changing the manifest setting to $confdir/manifests. This lets you split up your top-level code into multiple files while avoiding the import keyword. It will also match the behavior of simple environments." It appears that Puppet can reference an entire directory instead of just a specific manifest file, such that I would expect that Vagrant would make a provision for this and allow me to drop the "puppet.manifest_file = "site.pp" line and point to the parent directory instead in which all the *.pp files there will be executed. However removing that line in Vagrant merely generates a complaint about an expected "default.pp" in its stead: puppet provisioner: * The configured Puppet manifest is missing. Please specify a path to an existing manifest: /some/path/puppet_files/manifests/default.pp So: Firstly, do I understand the "new" (non-import) way of calling multiple manifests correctly, in that a directory is to be pointed to in which all the *.pp files inside it will be executed? And secondly, has Vagrant "caught up" with this new change to accommodate the referencing of directories in conjunction with Puppet's deprecation of "import"? Update: Thanks to Shane the issue with #2 (Vagrant's code not being caught up to allow pointing to puppet manifest directories) was reported on Vagrant's GitHub issue tracker site and has since been patched: https://github.com/mitchellh/vagrant/issues/4169

The problem is little strange for me. Error pages are showing File not found only if they are .php files. Other error files are clearly calling the 404.php file site.com/test = calls 404.php site.com/test.php = File not found. I am searching and making changes. but it hasn't solved the problem.

• Security camera for HQ and remote sites?

  We want to install security cams at HQ site and 3 remotes sites. Basically: (1) Each site would have N cams (2) Each site should have DVR locally to record everything. What we want is that HQ to be able to see the live/recorded videos of each remote site and including itself. Preferably HQ would have 1 large screen, and display all cams of itself and remotes sites, say showing it in 32x32 cells. Does such system exists?
