Any alternative that you know? Because google docs really sucks, it wont let you upload powerpoint or any document file which is higher than 3 mb.
Please, thanks in advance.
I use Outlook 2007, and have a Hotmail/Live webmail account. Using Outlook Connector, I want them to be synced to Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 HP machine, however when I click on the folder name (e.g. [email protected]) in the 'Navigation Pane' under all the usual folders such as 'Inbox', 'Deleted Items', etc, it just shows a blank inbox stating that there are no items to be shown.
I've seen a number of neat iPhone apps recently that I'd like to use. In particular, there are a number of neat musical apps (metronome, tuner, etc.) that seem highly rated, and have no real Mac equivalent. I don't have a recent iPod/iPhone/iPad (I don't need portability or a phone and it seems silly to pay hundreds of dollars to run $15 worth of apps), but I do have an Intel (C2D) Mac.
Can the iPhone dev simulator, or any other emulator, download and run iPhone App Store apps?
I am looking for a free software to convert FLV videos to playable DVDs. I have tried several of the different tools from Google, but I do not want a watermark or time limit on my content.
Hi all,
I don't have mac installed on my macbook pro, but I have Ubuntu and Windows. I was following this website http://mac.linux.be/content/single-boot-linux-without-delay to boot faster into Ubuntu without a 30 second delay. But I can't even burn a rEfit cdr image. Do you know how to burn it?
Thanks
I have a bunch of rules in Outlook. Until last week they all worked fine, but now they don't get automatically applied upon incoming mail. When I manually apply rules now from Rules menu, they get executed. What might cause this?
I apologize if this is stupid question or not for this board... But I keep seeing acceptance rate on this forum. What is this and how is it calculated?
Just received new Apple Magic Mouse and tried to install it on my computer with Ubuntu 9.10.
Mouse was found as Bluetooth mouse, I entered PIN as 0000 (could not find it in user manual, so just googgled it). Now I have 2 buttons working well - left and right, but scrolling does not work.
I understand that there is no driver for Magic Mouse for linux, but maybe some enthusiasts already found way to enable scrolling. Without scrolling with only 2 buttons this mouse is just like my first mouse I bought in 1997, Mitsumi as I can remember =)
I've been using utorrent to download and upload torrents for a long time. Recently someone told me that I need to open port(s) for utorrent from my modem settings for better downloading and uploading performance. Is it true? If yes, how can I do that?
My utorrent version: 2.0 and the port used for incoming connections: 61829. My modem: Yaksu S200 ADSL router modem and I can reach its settings via web interface. I looked at the settings but they seem a bit complicated to me. Other info you may need to know: I have dynamic IP. I'm using Win7 x64.
I have a Belkin router, and about a year ago, I suddenly lost my internet connectivity from Comcast. The internet worked fine when I plugged it right into my laptop, so I just ignored it. When I moved to another apartmnet I eventually took the dive and called tech support. The tech told me to clone my MAC address which completely fixed the issue.
Now I know what a MAC address is and I've read what MAC cloning is. What has bothered me since is that I don't see how this fixed the issue. As I have understood MAC address cloning, it has the router pretend it has the same MAC address as my computer. Here is why I don't understand why this fixes my issue:
I have used several different computers with this router. Cloning the MAC address fixed it for ALL of my computers. The laptop I first used with my ISP was not the one that I eventually had connected when I cloned the address.
Furthermore, I didn't have any problems for quite some time after I stopped using the first computer. It wasn't like the internet suddenly stopped working when I changed which laptop I was using Now it occurred to me that maybe there was some sort of expiration? Except...
Which MAC address did it clone? It was just an option in the router administration page. Did it just pick whichever computer was connected to it? If my ISP still wanted the MAC of my first computer, how did some other computer's fix it?
As mentioned earlier, why did this problem seemingly stem from nowhere?
Anyway, I don't have any current problems so this is more just out of general curiosity. If anybody can explain it, it would be appreciated!

I'm pretty new to using Linux heavily, and I'm trying to learn more about file ownership and permissions. One thing that I stumbled on just now was exactly what the title says, running:
weee@my-server:~$ sudo echo "hello" > some-file.txt
weee@my-server:~$ ls -lh
total 4.0K
-rw-rw-r-- 1 weee weee 6 Dec 5 21:21 some-file.txt
The file is owned by me, whereas touch works like one would expect:
weee@my-server:~$ sudo touch other-file.txt
weee@my-server:~$ ls -lh
total 4.0K
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Dec 5 21:22 other-file.txt
How can I force the file to be created by root? Do I simply have to create the file in my homedir, then sudo chown root... and sudo mv ... move it to /var where I need it to be? I was hoping there'd be a single step to accomplish this.
I've been creating beautiful fillable PDFs using OOo Writer under Ubuntu for a few years. However, I've recently been asked to make them saveable rather than just printable. So, I go to my colleague's Windows computer which has Adobe Acrobat Professional 8, and following directions outlined in Save filled form in PDF file in Ubuntu.
I end up with an unreadable, unfillable document. Acrobat Reader opens it, but it's garbage. It looks like it might be a character encoding issue. The document was created using Arial under Ubuntu. I installed OOo on the Windows box and changed the font to Tahoma.
But with either font, the resulting file is a jumble of boxes and oddly placed random characters. Given that it fails with a fairly ubiquitous font, and a Microsoft specific font, I'm guessing it's not a font issue.
Until I enable the rights, the PDF is readable both with Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Pro.
Anyone else encounter the problem? If so, did you solve it?
Thanks.
I'm trying to setup remote access for my linksys 3200 so that I can configure it through the WAN port. I have turned on remote access, however when I try to connect I get a 404 error. The settings I have are:
When I try to access xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9999 I just get a 404 error. I have allowed RDP access to a computer behind the router and this works fine on the same IP address. Any idea's on what else I have to do to allow remote management access?
UPDATE:
I tried changing the port to 80 and it works. Change it back to any other number and it doesn't work. Modem is setup with a DMZ to the router's IP. Why does it only work on port 80? BTW I can't use port 80 because there is a website hosted behind the router.
I have a iMac G5 only with Gentoo installed on it and every time I turn it on, it plays the startup chime.
I already have my headset plugged in but this doesn't mute the sound.
Is there a way to turn it off using the Open Firmware or, if this isn't possible, could a script do this ?
I'm trying to shrink the main partition on my new pc with Windows Seven 64 bits preloaded from 500Gb to 100Gb.
Unfortunately, some files prevent any attempt to go below 290Gb.
See screnshot: http://i40.tinypic.com/14eccp3.jpg
I have already disabled restore points, as somebody had suggested, but nothing changes.
What have I to do to further shrink this partition?
I recently purchased a Seagate Barracuda 3TB drive (ST3000DM001). After installing it, my BIOS recognized it but reported the size as 801.6gb. I went ahead and booted into Linux anyway (Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit).
Linux saw it as a 2.7TB. Following some online instructions (don't have the link handy, unfortunately), it looks liked converting this drive to GPT was recommended. So I used gparted to do that, then formatted it to NTFS also using gparted. (I'm using NTFS because my machine is daul-boot and I want to have access to the drive in Windows too).
I rebooted to Windows (Windows 7 64-bit), and Windows also sees the drive with 2.7TB free. Everything seems to be working fine.
The only issue is that my BIOS is still reporting the drive as 801.6GB. My motherboard is an ASRock 770 Extreme3 and BIOS is the latest version.
Since everything seems to be working with the new drive anyway, I'm hoping that the fact that the BIOS is reporting the wrong size is not an actual problem. But honestly, I don't really know. Anyone out there more familiar with this know if this could potentially cause any problems in the future? Any way to get the BIOS to report the correct size?

By reading above message, you can easily understand that - it's a firewall message.
I also know that.
The problem is "Firewall" is allowing any kind of googling.
But when I google "email us" - above message is displayed.
My question is why does this happen ? ( means - why googling not allowed on this words ? )
( Please don't tell that - contact your system administrator. )
What does this mean - Weighted phrase limit exceeded. ?

Is there any way to use emoticons beyond the default drop down list in Office Communicator 2007 R2? Do you have install them or can you just type in different codes? Is this even possible or are the defaults the only ones you can use? Anyone?
I have a netbook with no CD drive, so I need ot install from USB stick. I need to install backtrack on my netbook for a wireless security project for school. How is this done? I only have a 4GB stick.
I'm also able to mount the .iso from on the netbook, but I'm not sure how to get it to install to a partition off of a virtual drive.
I moved, but have the same router and cable box. Now when I visit Google Maps it still shows my old location. I went to the SkyhookWireless update page to update my Mac Address with my new location. The process is you put in your Mac address and it shows you the current location, and then you adjust that location and submit it. When I got the Mac Address from the status page on my router Skyhook reported that location as in Pakistan, which isn't even the correct continent (as my old or new address).
I tried every other Mac address I could come up with: The cable router, the Wireless router's other Mac address, my PC's Mac address, etc. and none of them reported any location on the Skyhook page. So I am guessing that there is another Mac address, or some other bit of information that is used by Firefox when it reports to Google Maps my current location.
Now that you have the back story, how do I find the Mac address or whatever information it is that Firefox (or other browsers) use to determine my Geolocation? Everything I have read online is rather vague.
The next option I am considering is hooking a logging proxy onto Firefox and seeing what data it sends, but I'd rather find an easier method.

I use Debian 6 on a HP Elitbook 6930 with 2Gigs of RAM. I was copying two AVI files, 1.5 GB in total, and noticed that the data copying was done at the rate of 4MB/sec. When I copy same AVIs to my Western Digital Passport 25G USB plugin drive the data transfer speed is 11+MB/sec. This speed is different if I plugin the drive to different USB ports. Interestingly, at work I also downloaded a 16MB IE8 exe on my virtual xp, run inside Oracle Sun Virtual Box, and it was downloaded AND saved within a second. We have a high speed network at work. :-)
Why and how this difference in data speeds is possible?
Hai guys,
I have webdeveloper and firebug addon installed in my mozilla firefox... I was using these addons for a month or two... But now it cant be viewed in my browser... When i checked addons in tools i found these two addons... I dont know what is the reason....
I have a system in place where I back up my work files daily to a portable hard drive. I actually have two portable hard drives - one is stored off-site and I swap them regularly.
I also keep my family photos and other historical files backed up, but I only back the photos up occasionally (ie when I have new photos).
The backup media is for backup only, and it is unlikely I will ever read the files from the backup media unless a disaster occurs and I lose the master.
It worries me that my backed up files could become corrupt without me knowing it. It is also feasible that my master files could become corrupt, and eventually the corrupt files would be replicated to the backup media.
I'm currently using Cobian Backup, but I'm open to alternatives.
Is there a tool I can use to confirm that the backed up files are identical to the files that were first copied? I know it would be possible to generate a checksum and periodically validate the backup files against the original checksum, but I'm looking for a tool which will do this automatically.
