  I'm curious if it's common practice outside of the GAE platform to be able to defer tasks to background workers via webhooks. I find it particularly useful to speed up the front-end of webapps, by delegating any long process to background tasks. I'd like to hear about open source software allowing to implement a TaskQueue-like API, with webhooks preferably, if anyone has some experience in this area. Thanks!

• Anybody got a C# function that maps the SQL datatype of a column to its CLR equivalent?

  I'm sitting down to write a massive switch() statement to turn SQL datatypes into CLR datatypes in order to generate classes from MSSQL stored procedures. I'm using this chart as a reference. Before I get too far into what will probably take all day and be a huge pain to fully test, I'd like to call out to the SO community to see if anyone else has already written or found something in C# to accomplish this seemingly common and assuredly tedious task.

• Creating an empty Drawable in Android

  Creating a Drawable that is completely empty seems like a common need, as a place holder, initial state, etc., but there doesn't seem to be a good way to do this... at least in XML. Several places refer to the system resource @android:drawable/empty but as far as I can tell (i.e., it's not in the reference docs, and aapt chokes saying that it can't find the resource) this doesn't exist. Is there a general way of referencing an empty Drawable, or do you end up creating a fake empty PNG for each project?

The task is to add a mapping of a property of entity's type, for example, stored in table B, which would reference table A, and specify a rule how entity should be fetch from table B based on identifier from table A. (For example, to fetch latest version of an entity). It it possible with NHibernate?

  I'm trying to debug a program I wrote. I ran it inside gdb and I managed to catch a SIGABRT from inside calloc(). I'm completely confused about how this can arise. Can it be a bug in gcc or even libc?? More details: My program uses OpenMP. I ran it through valgrind in single-threaded mode with no errors. I also use mmap() to load a 40GB file, but I doubt that is relevant. Inside gdb, I'm running with 30 threads.   I'm trying to export 2 values from every single item from the combo box field. I have found two methods to insert items into a combo box: 1) insertItemAt http://www.verypdf.com/document/acrobat-forms-javascript/pg_0048.htm 2) setItems http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9/Acrobat9_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=Acrobat9_HTMLHelp&file=JS_API_AcroJS.88.748.html but neither method allows two parameters (im always get "missing ) after argument list" error from the Acrobat JavaScript Debugger) Does anyone know of a better solution for this problem? But most programs store their settings in the sub-folder "anwendungsdaten" (German, application data). Is there a way to get the direct path to this folder?   Ruby Enterprise Edition fails to compile from sources with GCC 4.5, but sucessfully compiles with 4.3.3. Actually, not sure if it's about GCC, but, in fact, i686 Arch linux system with laest updates won't compile RE.   Using Morph Labs' Appspace to deploy a site means no automated way to redirect 'myapp.com' to 'www.myapp.com' (and no access to .htacess). Is there an in-rails way to do this? Would I need a plugin like subdomain-fu? More specifically, I'm trying to do something like: 'myapp.com' = 'www.myapp.com' 'myapp.com/session/new' = 'www.myapp.com/session/new' Basically, I always want the 'www' subdomain prepended on every request (because the SSL cert specifically has a common name of 'www.myapp.com').
