• Microsoft launches IE9 preview – No support for XP

  Microsoft launched the developer preview version of Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) at MIX 10 web conference yesterday.This release is aimed getting the feedback from website designers , developers and other community to make IE9 development better from its previous versions. Microsoft will update the developer preview every eight weeks and the next update is expected on mid of march.So what is new and interesting  about IE9 Chakra Chakra (The new scripting engine of IE9) renders the Java script much faster compared to IE8 and other browsers thus improving the performance significantly.According to Microsoft Chakra renders the java script in background with a separate thread parallel to the main engine which is complete new way of rendering from the current browser technologies Standards Microsoft is desperate to make ( surprisingly!!!) IE9 compliance to  web standards by supporting the open standards such as Accelerated support for HTML5 video support for new web technologies such as CSS3 and SVG2. ACID3 Test IE9 scores (55/100) in its latest ACID3 test which is much better compared to the IE8 score (22/100) but not even  nearer to their rivals Chrome, Opera, and Safari which scores 100/100 in ACID3 testing I am little disappointed over not able to download the  developer preview on my XP machine. • Setting Up GLFW3 in Visual Studio

  I decided a couple of days ago that I was going to start trying to develop games in C++ with OpenGL, instead of C# Monogame like I have been doing for a while. I was looking around for libraries to use, to make OpenGL a little easier to use. I settled on GLEW and GLFW. GLEW was a super easy copy/paste, but GLFW3 was not. After looking around for a while and fighting with CMake, I got the GLFW2.lib file created, and I added the additional include directories, library directories, and linked my program to the glfw3.lib file I just created. The problem is, I get these linker errors when I try to run or build my program: Error 1 error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _glfwInit referenced in function _main C:\Codex Interactive\Projects\OGLTest\OGLTest\test.obj OGLTest Error 2 error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _glfwTerminate referenced in function _main C:\Codex Interactive\Projects\OGLTest\OGLTest\test.obj OGLTest Error 3 error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _glfwSetErrorCallback referenced in function _main C:\Codex Interactive\Projects\OGLTest\OGLTest\test.obj OGLTest and 10 other LNK2019 errors, all talking about some glfw method, as well as: Error 14 error LNK1120: 13 unresolved externals C:\Codex Interactive\Projects\OGLTest\Debug\OGLTest.exe 1 1 OGLTest at the very bottom of the error list. I've looked up most of these errors on their own, and the solutions that I find either do nothing to solve the problem, or are people commenting on how dumb people are for not being about to solve this linker problem. Any assistance to solve these errors would be greatly appreciated. Info: I built GLFW3 on Cmake for Visual Studio 11, 32 bit and 64 bit, and both threw the same errors. • iis7 .net webservice 404 error

  I have a webservice /test/Service1.asmx in the same folder as a page /test/test.aspx. the page works fine but I get the message bellow for the services in the same location. I know the file is there and the url is correct, added the script module and managed handler as well. If anyone knows what I'm missing here I'd appreciate it Server Error in '/' Application. • Using VLC as RTSP server

  I'm trying to figure out how to use the server capabilities of VLC. More specifically, how to export an SDP file when RTP streaming. In chapter 4 in the section related to RTP Streaming examples for server and client are given: vlc -vvv input_stream --sout '#rtp{dst=192.168.0.12,port=1234,sdp=rtsp://server.example.org:8080/test.sdp}' vlc rtsp://server.example.org:8080/test.sdp It's not very clear to me how to make it actually work. I have tried these two commands for server and client using two cmd instances: vlc -I rc screen:// --sout=#rtp{dst=127.0.0.1,port=4444,sdp=rtsp://localhost:8080/test.sdp} vlc -I rc rtsp://localhost:8080/test.sdp Invoking the second command causes the first one to crash. The second command shows the error message "could not connect to localhost:8080".

  I have a file server that exports as NFS. On an Ubuntu machine I mount that, then try to export it as an NFS volume. When I go to export it, I get the message: exportfs: /test/nfs-mount-point does not support NFS export How can I get this to work, or at least get more information as to what the problem is? • Apache is not interpreting .PHP files

  I recently downloaded OpenSUSE OS version 11.4 from the site to use it as a server..In order to do that I downloaded the server edition that has Apache/2.2.17 and PHP5 downloaded by default.....Ok till now it is fine Now I started the Apache successfully and put a test.php file in the documentRoot directory. test.php contain only <?php phpinfo() ?> Then using my browser I typed http://localhost/test.php and here was the problem the browser didn't display what phpinfo() should display, instead it asked me whether I want to open or save test.php...which is driving me crazy.... • Migrating a virtual domain controller for DR exercise

  Hello gurus, I have a question. I have a requirement where I have a virtual domain controller and I have to migrate it to another virtual server in a different location. It is for test purposes to test out a DR scenario and the test will be deemed successful if the users that authenticate using the production DC can do so in the backup DC. I don't know much about this and thus don't know why it was assigned to me. So any assistance will be greatly appreciated. What I had in mind was: 1) Taking a snapshot of the production server and then restoring it in the other server. But I was told that this is not the suggested way of doing it. I was not told why. Is that right?If a snapshot is to be taken then what is the best way to do it. Any ideas on where I can get the documentation for this? 2) Another way would be to build the test DC from ground up, match it to the specs of production DC and then perform the DR test. Is this a better option? What will be needed to perform such an activity? Where can I find documentation on that? I apologise for the length of this query. As I said I am quite a novice and hope to get a better resolution. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Regards,

• Debian Squeeze and exim4: cannot send mail

  Hello guys, Got this error after install and config of exim4-daemon-light and mailutils packages on Debian Squeeze. This package is aimed to send automatic messages from websites, like email confirmation and stuff. Configuration after package install: dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config You'll be presented with a welcome screen, followed by a screen asking what type mail delivery you'd like to support. Choose the option for "internet site" and select "Ok" to continue.   I've created a generic batch (or Windows Command) file that lets me loop through the contents of a directory and call a command for each item. I've tried pre-pending the directory variable onto the front, like %_COMMAND% %_DIR%\"%%f", but this leaves a quotation mark in the parameter I pass. For example, if I call my batch file exec_dir.bat, and call it with the following echo_test.bat, I see that all of the files have a quotation mark when echo_test.bat runs. echo %~dpn1.mp4 That batch script produces: > exec_dir.bat "C:\Users\User\Desktop\Test Folder" echo_test.bat *.txt C:\Users\User\Desktop\Test Folder\"Test File.txt C:\Users\User\Desktop\Test Folder\"Test2.txt My thought is that it has something to do with the \ as an escape character, but I can't seem to work around it.

• Apache mod_rewrite weird behavior in Internet Explorer

  I'm attempting to setup redirection for a couple of root domains. Firstly, here is the code in my httpd-vhosts.conf file: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin ****@example.com ServerName example.com ServerAlias example2.com RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^192\.168\.0\.1$ # This is our WAN IP RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^$ RewriteRule ^/?(.*) http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [L,R,NE] </VirtualHost> What this does is redirect the root domain of example.com or example2.com or any host other than www to www.example(2).com The part I'm having a problem with is the RewriteRule itself. the $1 is supposed to match the pattern of the RewriteRule and add it in the substitution. For example: "http://example.com/test.html" should rewrite to "http://www.example.com/test.html" It works in all modern browsers like it's supposed to except for IE8 or IE9 (I didn't test other IE versions). In IE, this works: "http://example.com" to "http://www.example.com" In IE, this does not work: "http://example.com/test.html" to "http://www.example.com/test.html" Does anyone have an explanation for this behavior? • Reverse DNS does not match SMTP banner vs Reverse DNS mismatch

  I have to make decision whether my Reverse DNS should match SMTP banner but Reverse DNS to DNS and vice versa stays different or vice versa. Which one to choose? I have an 2x Exchange 2010 server with one SMTP Sender with TMG 2010. TMG has 2 links connected so that we have 2 separate internet providers. The problem is I have no way to control TMG behavior on which link is used to send emails as it picks it randomly. I have 2 MX records: - mail.test.com which resolves to IP and IP resolves to mail.test.com - mail2.test.com which resolves to IP2 and IP2 resolves to mail.test.com This was done to prevent smtp banner issues but it provides problems with Reverse DNS if the server on the other side is eager enough to do comparison. But I've checked with Google and they also don't have that in perfect condition.

  If you need create Unit tests for internal methods within a assembly in Visual Studio 2005 or greater, then we need to add an entry in the AssemblyInfo.cs file of the assembly for which you are creating the units tests for. For e.g. if you need to create tests for a assembly named FincadFunctions.dll & this assembly contains internal/friend methods within which need to write unit tests for then we add a entry in the FincadFunctions.dll’s AssemblyInfo.cs file like so : 1: [assembly: System.Runtime.CompilerServices.InternalsVisibleTo("FincadFunctionsTests")] where FincadFunctionsTests is the name of the Unit Test project which contains the Unit Tests. However if the FincadFunctions.dll is a strongly named assembly then you will the following error when compiling the FincadFunctions.dll assembly :      Friend assembly reference “FincadFunctionsTests” is invalid. Strong-name assemblies must specify a public key in their InternalsVisibleTo declarations. Thus to add a public key token to InternalsVisibleTo Declarations do the following: You need the .snk file that was used to strong-name the FincadFunctions.dll assembly. You can extract the public key from this .snk with the sn.exe tool from the .NET SDK. First we extract just the public key from the key pair (.snk) file into another .snk file. sn -p test.snk test.pub Then we ask for the value of that public key (note we need the long hex key not the short public key token): sn -tp test.pub We end up getting a super LONG string of hex, but that's just what we want, the public key value of this key pair. We add it to the strongly named project "FincadFunctions.dll" that we want to expose our internals from. Before what looked like: 1: [assembly: System.Runtime.CompilerServices.InternalsVisibleTo("FincadFunctionsTests")] Now looks like. 1: [assembly: System.Runtime.CompilerServices.InternalsVisibleTo("FincadFunctionsTests, 2: PublicKey=002400000480000094000000060200000024000052534131000400000100010011fdf2e48bb")] And we're done. hope this helps

• IIS 6 ASP.NET default handler-mappings and virtual directories

  I'm having a problem with setting a default mapping in IIS 6. I want to secure *.HTML files with ASP.NET forms authentication. The problem seems to have something to do with using virtual directories to hold the html files. Here's how it's setup: sample directory tree c:/inetpub/ (nothing in here) d:/web_files/my_web_apps d:/web_files/my_web_apps/app1/ d:/web_files/my_web_apps/app2/ d:/web_files/my_web_apps/html_files/ app1 and app2 both access the same html_files directory, so html_files is set as a virtual directory in the web apps in IIS... sample web directory tree //app1/html_files/ (points to physical directory: d:/web_files/my_web_apps/html_files/) //app2/html_files/ (points to physical directory: d:/web_files/my_web_apps/html_files/) If I put a file called test.html in the root of //app1/ and then add the default mapping to the asp.net dll and setup my security on the root folder with deny="?", then accessing test.html works exactly as expected. If I'm not authenticated, it takes me to the login.aspx page, and if I am authenticated then it displays test.html. If I put the test.html file in the html_files directory I get a totally different behavior. Now the login.aspx page loads and I stuck some code in to check if I was still authenticated: <p>autheticated: <%=User.Identity.IsAuthenticated%></p> I figured it would say false because why else would it bother to load the login page? Nope, it says true - so it knows i'm authenticated, but it won't give me access to the test.html file. I've spent several hours on this and haven't been able to solve it. I'm going to spend some more time on google to see if I've missed something. Fingers crossed.

Using ruby 1.8 the following works fine however not with 1.9 it always results in Could not find rake-0.9.2.2 in any of the sources Run `bundle install` to install missing gems. i dont understand why, but it functions correctly with rvm. • Permissions problems with Apache / SVN

  I am installed a SVN server (v1.6) on a VPS contracted with CentOS 5, Apache 2.2 with WHM panel. I installed and configured all necessary modules and am able to create and access repositories via my web browser normally. The problem: I can not commit or import anything, always return permission errors: First error: Can not open file '/var/www/svn/test/db/txn-current-lock': Permission denied After fix the previous error: Can't open '/var/www/svn/test/db/tempfile.tmp': Permission denied And other... (and happends many others) Can't open file '/var/www/svn/test/db/txn-protorevs/0-1m.rev': Permission denied I've read and executed permissions on numerous tutorials regarding this errors, all without success. I've defined the owner as apache or nobody and different permissions for folders and files. I'm using TortoiseSVN to connect to the server. Some information that may find useful: I'm trying to perform commit through an external HTTP connection, like: svn commit http://example.com/svn/test SELinux is disabled. sestatus returns SELinux status: disabled Running the command to see the active processes of Apache, some processes are left with user/group "nobody". I tried changing the settings of Apache to not run with that user/group, but all my websites stopped working, returning this error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.   I currently have a test machine running Ubuntu server 9.10 with no GUI. I want to run my Selenium RC test suites which open Firefox and perform a series of operation. I could bloat my test server with Gnome or KDE to run those tests but I'm looking for a lighter solution. Does anyone have some suggestions on how to run GUI tests on an Ubuntu server?

• 127.0.0.1 is working but localhost is not working on mac XAMPP

  I installed XAMPP on my mac months ago and was working great. Now i get "Test Page For Apache Installation" when i try to browse /localhost and /localhost/xampp is not found. But when i browse /127.0.0.1 it just works as localhost used to be. I double checked my /etc/hosts file that i have 127.0.0.1 localhost and not commented. Also when i browse localhost/~username/test.php , i get contents of test.php: <?php echo 'ganim'; ?> but if i browse 127.0.0.1/~username/test.php , i get: ganim what could change redirecting of localhost or how can i get localhost work again?

• Failing to send email on Ubuntu box (Karmic Koala)

  I have a home network with an XP and Ubuntu (9.10) box. I have created a small test php script for checking that I can send emails from my machine. I am using the same php.ini file with the same [mail settings], yet the file works on my XP box, and fails on the Ubuntu box. However, the mail never arrives in my mail inbox (I've waited 1 day so far). Is there something else I need to be looking at?
