• Syntax to change the value of a cached object property

  In an ASP.NET 3.5 VB web app, I successfully manage to cache an object containing several personal details such as name, address, etc. One of the items is CreditNum which I'd like to change in the cache on the fly. Is there a way to access this directly in the cache or do I have to destroy and rebuild the whole object just to change the value of objMemberDetails.CreditNum? • Several appdomains calling the same unmanged dll

  Our .NET 3.5 C# application creates multiple appdomains. Each appdomain loads the same unmanaged 3rd party dll. This dll reads a configuration file upon initialization. If the configuration changes during runtime, the dll must be unloaded and loaded again. This dll is not in our scope to rewrite correctly. Does each appdomain have access to a separtate copy of this unmanaged dll, or does Windows keep one copy of the dll and maintain a usage count? If the latter is is the case, how do we get each instance of the unmanaged dll to reflect its unique configuration?

• to_xml with :only and :methods

  I'm calling to_xml on an ActiveRecord object with both :only and :methods parameters. The method that I'm including returns a collection for AR objects. This works fine without the :only param, but when that is added I just get the default to_s representation of my objects. i.e <author><books>#&lt;Book:0x107753228&gt;</books>\n</author> Any ideas?   I'm using the Google Adwords API libraries and I would like to receive the userinfo of the logged in user. • Accessing protected REST endpoint with JQuery

  I have a site where members login to their account (FormsAuth). I would like to set up a RESTful service that I can access using jQuery. I would like to protect these services using the same FormsAuth. How would a third-party site be able to access these services? They would need to pass in the Principal/Identity to the service, right? I've only seen examples of Basic Authentication (which Twitter uses and jQuery supports). I'm very new to WCT/REST, so not sure how this should be done.

• iPhone status bar orientation with opengl

  I have opengl only view that displays in portrait and landscape mode using projection matrix (view's transformation is identity all the time). I need to show status bar with proper orientation. I do this by setting status bar orientation property in UIApplication and changing frame of opengl view so the view won't go under status bar. When I change from landscape to portrait (landscape is the initial state) view's frame is set to (0, 20, 320, 460) and stays like this. However view appears to be translated by (-10, -10). It seems that I did change the size of view but couldn't move it. Weird things are: initialy view is full screen, I change it to (0, 0, 300, 480) (landscape with status bar) and it works then, it doesn't work when I try to chenge it for the second time (portrait with status bar) frame property of the view shows that view is placed correctly Any thoughts on what can by the problem?

  Is it posible to validate the uniqueness of a child model's attribute scoped against a polymorphic relationship? For example I have a model called field that belongs to fieldable: class Field < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :fieldable, :polymorphic => :true validates_uniqueness_of :name, :scope => :fieldable_id end I have several other models (Pages, Items) which have many Fields. So what I want is to validate the uniqueness of the field name against the parent model, but the problem is that occasionally a Page and an Item share the same ID number, causing the validations to fail when they shouldn't. Am I just doing this wrong or is there a better way to do this?

  I know the question is too open. All I want is someone to tell me how to convert a normal merge sort into an in-place merge sort (or a merge sort with constant extra space overhead). All I can find (on the net) is pages saying "it is too complex" or "out of scope of this text". "The only known ways to merge in-place (without any extra space) are too complex to be reduced to practical program." (from here) Even if it is too complex, can somebody outline the basic concept of how to make the merge sort in-place?

  Hi guys, I've got the scenario with two NSManagedObjects, Arm and Person. Between them is a many-to-one relationship Person.arms and inverse Arm.owner. I'd like to write a simple NSPredicate where I've got the NSManagedObject *arm and I'd like to fetch the NSManagedObject *person that this arm belongs to. I could make a textual representation and look for that, but is there a better way where I can look it up by identity? Something like this perhaps? • Seam cache provider with ehcache null

  Hi every one, I'm trying to configure seam/ehcache following the tutorial from jboss page: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.1.2/reference/en-US/html/cache.html I put the ehcache.1.2.3.jar in project.ear/lib and injected CacheProvider as especified, but the CacheProvider always return null. The documentation doesn't show any aditional configuration for ehcache, just for jboss cache.   Hi, I am trying to update a replica list on a Exchange 2003 public folder. I am using the WMI namespace exchange_publicfolder to try and add an Exchange server (using the servers DN) to the AddReplica procedure. Every time I run this I get an invalid parameter as an exception. Below is the code that I am using to do this. Say I have a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn, and want to switch the style of the ComboBox control between DropDownList and DropDown (mainly for the text field editing capability). I'd like to do this on a row-by-row basis (at the DataGridViewComboBoxCell level). How would I do that programatically? I have a vector v and I want to solve for a vector w such that for all i: digamma(sum(w)) - digamma(w_i) = v_i and w_i 0 I found the gsl function gsl_sf_psi, which is the digamma function (calculated using some kind of series.) Is there an identity I can use to reduce the equations? Is my best bet to use a solver? I am using C++0x; which solver is easiest to use and fast?

• SharePoint thinks new Server is offline?

  I added an index server to the topology, and tried to switch it from the front end to the index server but for some reason I get an exception every time in Central Admin saying the server is offline. I checked everything... IIS is running and is serving out correctly The App Pool Identity is valid I restarted IIS I restarted the Indexing server I had a wierd problem when installing SP2 for SharePoint, (WSS sp2 installed fine) where it got stuck and "Upgrading SharePoint Products and Technologies" and I had to run the following command to get it to continue: psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force After that it said it succeeded with no errors... The only thing I haven't done is reboot the Primary server cause I have to do it in off hours, but I want to make sure I have covered all my other bases first...Any ideas?

  I've got a web page where the user can add a new item to a category and that item is saved to the database. However, the ID of the item is an identity value for the database table, so I don't know what the ID will be, and I need this ID so that the user can edit the item later. I'm using ajax to make a POST submit: $.ajax({ url: 'TumourGroup/CreateSub', type: "POST", data: {'pos': index, 'text': text } }); This is linked to an MVC model with three fields, ID, pos, and text.   Hi all, Here is my question, I have a solution with 4 projects in it for a WCF Service : DLL Library : Service Interface. DLL Library : Service Code. Form Application : Service hosting application. Form Application : Service client application. I'd like to have certain properties of the service accessible for the hosting application but not for the client one. If I declare a property in the client interface they will both have access to it. In fact, my service manage user identity login and keep a list of all user currently logged in. I'd like to be able to show this list in the Hosting application, like a debugging tool. But I don't want the service client to be able to access to this list. How can I do ? Thank in advance.

• Forms authentication for users and Windows for Database?

  On our production servers, the admins created a WebUser active directory account which is users for anonymous access to IIS and is also used to authenticate database access with our SQL Server instances using Integrated Security=SSPI in the connection string and identity impersonate="true" in the web.config. I've often come across situations where I would like to or even need to use forms authentication. However, I using forms authentication, Integrated Security seems to use the logged in user's credentials to authenticate against the database. In these cases I have changed the connection string to use the credentials of a SQL Server users instead. I would prefer to not have a hard coded username and password in the connection string or rather worse in code. Is it possible to use forms authentication just for user authentication for users and windows authentication with the IIS user for database access? What would be the best practice in such a situation?

• Need to get back form controls' information externally

  Are there any tutorials or guides out there that anyone knows of that will show me how to read forms from an external program and get back information about the controls on the form? Currently, I can get the handle to the form, and I can get the class name, but I need to get more information such as a persistent name and contained data. Thanks. Edit: I now have a way to read the contained data (with the WM_GETTEXT message), however, I still need a persistent name/ID that I can be sure will not change from instance to instance. One way I can think of for doing this is to take the handle, find the position of the control on the window, and then get the handle from the position from then on. Another way is to determine a static ID for the control and then use that to get the handle from then on. The new scope of my problem is how to implement either of these. Any Ideas?

• Doesn't get into Debug Mode

  When I Press F5 on my VS2005 to debug the application, it launches the web app window but it is coming out of debug mode. When I tried to trace the Error in the EventViewer, this was the error: Failed in Token.vb(GetToken). The token was not in memory and the identity of the authenticated IIS caller was not permitted. The session may have unexpectedly terminated. The specific error message included: Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. Please also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the \\ section in the application configuration. I don't have any httpModules section in my config file and the sessionState mode="InProc"...
