• "No video with supported format and mime type found" - Firefox - HTML5

  I am working with django 1.6, python 2.7, firefox 30 and Mac OS 10.10 Beta. When I render the following code <video width="570" height="340" controls="controls"> <source src="/some/path/" type="video/mp4" /> </video> I get an error stating "No video with supported format and mime type found". The same code runs perfectly on Safari and Chrome (yes I still haven't checked IE). I have tried different formats for the uploaded files and looked into ad-ons which might prevent this or different coding mechanisms, though nothing has been helpful. Please help!!!!

• IIS mystery: "Deadlock detected" periodically makes site unavailable

  A few times a day, our vb.net (IIS 6.0) website is randomly throwing the following error and becomes completely unavailable for 5-15 minutes at a time while the application is recycled: ISAPI 'c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll' reported itself as unhealthy for the following reason: 'Deadlock detected'. The website ran for months on the exact same server in beta without problem - but the problem started over the weekend when we made the site live. The live site is under some load but less than many of our other production websites. How should I attack this problem? I've looked into orphaning the worker process and creating a dump file - but I'm not sure how to analyze that. Any advice or information is appreciated. Thanks, Shane

  I'm working on a S#arpArchitecture 1.5 project, which uses ASP.NET MVC 2. I've been trying to get areas to work properly but I ran into a problem: The ASP.NET MVC 2 routing engine matches the correct route to my area but then it generates an URL that belongs to the first registered area instead. Here's my request URL: /Framework/Authentication/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2fDefault.aspx I'm using the Route Tester from Phil Haack and it shows: Matched Route: Framework/{controller}/{action}/{id} Generated URL: /Data/Authentication/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2FDefault.aspx using the route "Data/{controller}/{action}/{id}" That's clearly wrong, the URL should point to the Framework area, not the Data area.   I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and for some time I had to keep a downgraded PHP 5.2 package because I need to run Zend encrypted scripts. Recently I noticed that Zend released beta version of their loader (http://forums.zend.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=1365&start=80#p22073) so I updated to the native PHP 5.3 package, downloaded the .so file, added this to php.ini ;zend_extension=/etc/php5/ZendOptimizer.so zend_extension=/etc/php5/ZendGuardLoader.so zend_loader.enable=1 zend_loader.disable_licensing=0 zend_loader.obfuscation_level_support=3 and restarted the server. Now I am getting this error: Fatal error: Incompatible file format: The encoded file has format major ID 1, whereas the Loader expects 4 in ... on line 0 Do you by chance know an easy fix for this? Or should I downgrade back and wait till when they release something more stable?

  I'm having the following problem. I'm installing SharePoint 2010 Beta so I need to activate the windows feature "Windows Communication Foundation Non-HTTP Activation". The problem is I cannot activate it, i get the message: "An error has occurred. Not all features were successfully changed" When i look at the log (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) I found this error: Process output: [l:186 [186]"SMConfigInstaller[Error]: Failed in calling 'StartService' for service 'NetTcpActivator'. Error code: 0x8007042c Anyone can give me a clue of what is happening here?

• Samba4 advice for production use

  I have an old Samba 3 + LDAP server installed that needs to be rebuilt. I'm weighting my options, and Windows Server seems too expensive at the moment, and Samba 4 appeared to be a nice option, coupled with the last Bind 9 that can dynamically add the computers to the DNS. I have about 30 workstations, so I still consider it a small network. My questions are: Is Samba 4 stable enough for production? It seems as if the Samba team is too cautious on when to call their version final, or even beta, as compared with other open source projects. What Linux distribution would you recommend to set it up? I usually use Ubuntu Server, but may use another one if installing / maintaining Samba 4 is better on that one.

• Handling multiple column data with Java

  I am writing an application that reads in a large number of basic user details in the following format; once read in it then allows the user to search for a user's details using their email: NAME ROLE EMAIL --------------------------------------------------- Joe Bloggs Manager [email protected] John Smith Consultant [email protected] Alan Wright Tester [email protected] ... The problem I am suffering is that I need to store a large number of details of all people that have worked at the company. The file containing these details will be written on a yearly basis simply for reporting purposes, but the program will need to be able to access these details quickly. The way I aim to access these files is to have a program that asks the user for the name of the unique email of the member of staff and for the program to then return the name and the role from that line of the file. I've played around with text files, but am struggling with how I would handle multiple columns of data when it comes to searching this large file. What is the best format to store such data in? A text file? XML? The size doesn't bother me, but I'd like to be able to search it as quickly as possible. The file will need to contain a lot of entries, probably over the 10K mark over time.

  I'm learning how unit testing is done in Rails, and I've run into a problem involving Authlogic. • Having trouble with instantiating objects in PHP & Ajax custom shopping cart

  This is my first time playing with both ajax and objects, so please go easy on me I have 3 pages that make up the tester shopping cart. 1) page with 'add' 'remove' buttons and ajax code to call the PHP functions on page 2. this is the actual user page with the HTML output. 2) page with PHP cart function calls, receives $_GET requests from ajax on page 1 and calls functions of the cart object from page 3, returns results to page 1. 3) page with cart object definition. Here's the problem I believe I'm having. Currently I have 'session_start()' on pgs 1 & 2, and the cart definition (pag 3) on pgs 1 & 2. I only define '$_SESSION[cart]= new Cart' on page 2. However, it seems like each time i hit an ajax function (eg each time pg 2 reloads) it seems like it's rewriting $_SESSION['cart'] over again, thus it's always empty at each new click (even tho it displays results of that click) However, if i don't define '$_SESSION[cart] = new Cart' on pg 2, i get an error: Fatal error: main() [function.main]: The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition "Cart" of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded before unserialize() gets called or provide a __autoload() function to load the class definition in /home3/foundloc/public_html/booka/carti.php on line 17 Any suggestions? How can i stop re-creating my cart each time my page 2 (php cart function page) is called by ajax?

• Setting up an efficient and effective development process

  I am in the midst of setting up the development environment (PHP/MySQL) for my start-up. We use three sets of servers: LIVE - the servers which provide the actual application TEST - providing a testing version before it is actually released DEV - the development servers The development servers run SVN with each developer checking out their local copy. At the end of each day completed fixes are checked in and then we use Hudson to automate our build process and then transfer it over to TEST. We then check the application still functions correctly using a tester and then if everything is fine move it to LIVE. I am happy with this process but I do have two questions: How would you recommend we do local testing - as each developer adds new pages or changes functionality I want them to be able to test what they are doing. Would you just setup local Apache and a local database and have them test locally on their own machine? How would you recommend dealing with data layer changes? Is there anything else you would recommend doing to really make our development process as easy and efficient as possible? Thanks in advance

• Getting Android drivers to work on Windows 8 Community Preview

  I made a post about this on android.stackexchange.com, and they referred me to here. I have an HTC Flyer and a Motorola Droid X, and for both, I've been unable to connect to USB debugging to do Android development. With the Motorola Droid X, the MotoHelper installer won't run, saying that I'm running an Unknown OS Version. With the HTC Flyer, HTC's Sync software installs successfully, but again the device doesn't connect. I realize that this is beta software, but is there anything that I can do to get this working? I've been relying on switching back to my laptop running Linux to test out my Android builds on the device. Of course, I'm not in any production environment - just playing around with the new OS, but not being able to write code on it makes less fun.

  Hello, I'm a newbie to StackOverflow so please be kind ;) I'm using Entity Framework in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 (.NET framework 4.0 Beta 2). I have created an entity framework .edmx model from my database and I have a handful of many-to-many relationships. A trivial example of my database schema is Roles (ID, Name, Active) Members (ID, DateOfBirth, DateCreated) RoleMembership(RoleID, MemberID) I am now writing the custom role provider (Inheriting System.Configuration.Provider.RoleProvider) and have come to write the implementation of IsUserInRole(username, roleName). The LINQ-to-Entity queries which I wrote, when SQL-Profiled, all produced CROSS JOIN statements when what I want is for them to INNER JOIN. Dim query = From m In dc.Members From r In dc.Roles Where m.ID = 100 And r.Name = "Member" Select m My problem is almost exactly described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/553918/entity-framework-and-many-to-many-queries-unusable I'm sure that the solution presented there works well, but whilst I studied Java at uni and I can mostly understand C# I cannot understand this Lambda syntax provided and I need to get a similar example in VB. I've looked around the web for the best part of half a day but I'm not closer to my answer. So please can somebody advise how, in VB, I can construct a LINQ statement which would do this equivalent in SQL: SELECT rm.RoleID FROM RoleMembership rm INNER JOIN Roles r ON r.ID = rm.RoleID INNER JOIN Members m ON m.ID = rm.MemberID WHERE r.Name = 'Member' AND m.ID = 101 I would use this query to see if Member 101 is in Role 3. • Finding and Printing all Links within a DIV

  Hello all, I am trying to find all links in a div and then printing those links. I am using the Simple HTML Dom to parse the HTML file. I printed what it was doing in each loop since it was too long to wait and I find that its going through things I don't need it to! This suggests my code is wrong. • Windows 7 / ATI CCC - Monitor limit?

  Hi all, I have a Ati 4850 X2 and back in the days when Windows 7 was in beta, I had this running with 4 monitors (Crossfire off). Now I have come to set this up again, with a RTM version of Windows 7 and the latest ATI drivers and it seems I can only have two monitors on at one time. If I try and set the monitors up in Control Panel, it simply disables the non-primary monitor, and if I attempt to do it in CCC, I get the message "To extend the desktop, a desktop or display must be disabled." Does anyone know why this is and/or how to fix it? I've currently tried using the latest ATI drivers and the drivers (i think) I was using over a year ago when I had this setup. Thanks - James

• Can I auto-forward Gmail to multiple addresses?

  Hi, I have set up a Gmail account with the intention of having it function as a mail hub, meaning it should forward every mail item to all of its contact list, in this case my friends and me. I created a simple filter for all incoming items (from:*), but the 'Forward it to' field will only allow me a single email address, and not even a contact group. Is there a way around this? And why is such a simple feature not available in Gmail? I thought they were out of beta...

• Receiving SSL certificate errors only from some clients

  I am receiving SSL certificate errors from Chrome (latest version (23.0.1271.52 beta-m) and Internet Explorer 6 (not used) on my home desktop machine (Windows XP SP2). In Firefox, it works fine on this PC. My laptop and work desktop (both Windows 7) work fine. Most SSL website checking sites report that the certificate and chain up to the root CA are setup correctly, but I have come across 2 that that say I have an invalid certificate but don't give much information on what part is failing. I know it used to work properly on this desktop (in Chrome and IE) in the past, but I'm not sure what has changed that is causing the site to fail in these browsers. • Possible to change the alpha value of certain pixels on iPhone?

  Is it possible to change just a portion of a Sprite's alpha in response to user interaction? A good example of what I mean is iFog or iSteam, where the user can wipe "steam" off the iPhone's screen. Swapping images out wouldn't be feasible due to the sheer number of possibilities where the user could touch and move... For example, say you have a simple app that has a brick wall in the background that has graffiti on it, so there'd be two sprites, one of the brick wall, then one of the graffiti that has a higher z value than the brick wall. Then, based upon where the user touches (assuming their touch controls a sandblaster), some of the graffiti should be removed, but not all of it, which could be accomplished by changing the alpha value on a portion of the graffiti sprite. Is there any way to do this in cocos2d-iphone? Or, do I need to drop down into openGL, and if so, where would be a good place to start my search on how to accomplish this? Ideally, I'd like to accomplish this on a cocos2d-iphone Sprite, but if it's not possible, where's the best place to start looking? Thanks in advance, Ben

• Re-ordering child nodes in django-MPTT

  I'm using Ben Firshman's fork of django-MPTT (hat tip to Daniel Roseman for the recommendation). I've got stuck trying to re-order nodes which share a common parent. I've got a list of primary keys, like this: ids = [5, 9, 7, 3] All of these nodes have a parent, say with primary key 1. At present, these nodes are ordered [5, 3, 9, 7], how can I re-order them to [5, 9, 7, 3]? I've tried something like this: last_m = MyModel.get(pk = ids.pop(0)) last_m.move_to(last_m.parent, position='first-child') for id in ids: m = MyModel.get(pk = id) m.move_to(last_m, position='right') Which I'd expect to do what I want, per the docs on move_to, but it doesn't seem to change anything. Sometimes it seems to move the first item in ids to be the first child of its parent, sometimes it doesn't. Am I right in my reading of the docs for move_to that calling move_to on a node n with position=right and a target which is a sibling of n will move n to immediately after the target? It's possible I've screwed up my models table in trying to figure this out, so maybe the code above is actually right. It's also possible there's a much more elegant way of doing this (perhaps one that doesn't involve O(n) selects and O(n) updates). Have I misunderstood something? Bonus question: is there a way of forcing django-MPTT to rebuild lft and rght values for all instances of a given model?

• Backup strategy for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Hyper-V

  I am in the process of planning a Hyper-V deployment with SCVMM 2008 R2. I have several VMs on VMWare Player (temporary solution) for stuff like Sharepoint 2007, 2010, and a couple of other server apps. I want to develop a resilient backup plan for this. On the software side, Data Protection Manager 2010 will support all of the server apps I run (sQL Server 2008 R2, Sharepoint, Exchange, etc). But on the hardware side (storage), what is the best way to go? Drobo seems to have issues with Hyper-V juding by a few threads on here and doesn't support DPM 2010 (which is in beta anyway) but not even the 2007 version (see http://www.drobo.com/support/best_practices.php). What storage device would work well? Do I need a home server or just an external usb drive? Capacity wise, 2tb will probably be best so I can have a small archive and implement a round-robin system.   How do I test the changes to the pam.d configuration files: Do I need to restart the PAM service to test the changes? Should I go through every service listed in the /etc/pam.d/ directory? I'm about to make changes to the pam.d/common-* files in an effort to put an Ubuntu box into an active directory controlled network. I'm just learning what to do, so I'm preparing the configuration in a VM, which I plan to deploy in metal in the coming week. It is a clean install of Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 server, so other than SSH daemon, all other services are stock.

  I'm working on a S#arpArchitecture 1.5 project, which uses ASP.NET MVC 2. I've been trying to get areas to work properly but I ran into a problem: The ASP.NET MVC 2 routing engine matches the correct route to my area but then it generates an URL that belongs to the first registered area instead. Here's my request URL: /Framework/Authentication/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2fDefault.aspx I'm using the Route Tester from Phil Haack and it shows: Matched Route: Framework/{controller}/{action}/{id} Generated URL: /Data/Authentication/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2FDefault.aspx using the route "Data/{controller}/{action}/{id}" That's clearly wrong, the URL should point to the Framework area, not the Data area. • Youtube videos all appear transparent in Chrome (I can see through to my desktop -- see pic!)

  MBP 6,2 :: Google Chrome 13.0.782.32 beta :: Adobe Flash Player 10,3,181,26 UPDATE: only Youtube is affected. Vimeo, other flash, etc. all works great. Hello. I recently had to hard reboot my MBP. After that, I could not watch Youtube videos or (I believe) other flash enabled content. The videos appear transparent, as if there were a "hole" in my browser (Chrome) such that I could see through the hole and see my desktop. I've attached a picture (just picked a random video) Thanks.
