• WPF custom BalloonTips problem with multithreading

  Hi, I have read other related question but i cant really get them to relate to this so I thought it were best to ask, Im pretty new to WPF and so on so please bear with me. I am using this http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/wpf_notifyicon.aspx api to work with custom WPF Windows (in particular FancyBalloon). However, i'm coming across the following problem, I seem unable to start off BalloonTips in a separate thread ( i need this because i'm parsing emails and hence if there are 3 emails for instance, it displays the first email (that works fine), but when it comes to the second email it crashes with a TargetInvocationException , {"Specified element is already the logical child of another element. Disconnect it first."}. Thing is, im supposedly working with the same instance and i have attempted calling it to close it before, disposing it etc but to no avail. (then again if i dispose it, i cant create another instance as apparently WPF UI components must be called from a static thread so throughout the looping of emails + displaying balloon, i am trying to use the same BalloonTip. Any suggestions please? I am really at a loss here and i've been on it for quite a while now :/ I was wondering if there was anyone

  Hello All, I'm trying to encrypt a incoming document in C#, and I'm using GnuPG with input redirection. I need to use -se(sign and encrypt) in a single step, which requires entering passphrase. But for some reason, input redirection is not working. Appreciate your help. Control is going to else block.   I have this code which sets up a "main" container into which other modules of the application will go. My problem is that the c (parent) container reports a height and width value which includes the value underneath the scrollbars. • Emacs recursive project search

  I am switching to Emacs from TextMate. One feature of TextMate that I would really like to have in Emacs is the "Find in Project" search box that uses fuzzy matching. Emacs sort of has this with ido, but ido does not search recursively through child directories. It searches only within one directory. Is there a way to give ido a root directory and to search everything under it? Update: The questions below pertain to find-file-in-project.el from Michal Marczyk's answer. If anything in this message sounds obvious it's because I have used Emacs for less than one week. :-) As I understand it, project-local-variables lets me define things in a .emacs-project file that I keep in my project root. How do I point find-file-in-project to my project root? I am not familiar with regex syntax in Emacs Lisp. The default value for ffip-regexp is: ".*\\.\\(rb\\|js\\|css\\|yml\\|yaml\\|rhtml\\|erb\\|html\\|el\\)" I presume that I can just switch the extensions to the ones appropriate for my project.   To learn databasing, I am creating a movie database. To associate multiple directors with a movie, I have the following schema: movie(m_ID, ....) m_director(dirID, dirName)//dirID is a autoincrement primary key m_directs(dirID, m_ID) //dirID, m_ID are set as foreign Keys in the mysql database(InnoDB engine) I have a program that connects to the db that needs to add a movie to the database. I can easily add a new entry to the movie table and the m_director table, but I am having trouble adding a entry in the m_directs table. INSERT INTO m_director (dirName) VALUES("Jason Reitman"); INSERT INTO m_directs (dirID, m_ID) VALUES(LAST_INSERT_ID(), "tt0467406"); I am using this sql statement to insert a new director and add the association to the movie. I know the primary key of the movie, but I don't know the dirID, so I use LAST_INSERT_ID() to get the last id of the director just inserted. The problem I am having is that I get the following error: MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlException (0x80004005): Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (`siteproducts`. `m_directs`, CONSTRAINT `m_directs_ibfk_2` FOREIGN KEY (`dirID`) REFERENCES `m_directs` (`dirID`) ON DELETE CASCADE ON UPDATE CASCADE) Any ideas?

• Castle MonoRail ARDataBind trying to bind to non-existent row

  I have a shopping cart application running on MonoRail and using Castle ActiveRecord/NHibernate, and there is a ShoppingCart table and a ShoppingCartItems table, which are mapped to entities. Here's the scenario: a user adds things to the shopping cart, say 5 items, and goes to view the cart. The cart shows all 5 items. the user duplicates the tab/window and gets another tab of the same cart (call it tab B). the user removes an item from the cart, so now there are 4 items in tab B, but in the original tab A, there are still 5 items. the user goes back to tab A, and updates something in the cart and clicks the "update" button which submits the changes. my MonoRail action tries to do an ARDataBind on ShoppingCartItems using the data from the view, which includes all 5 items. when it gets to the item that the user deleted from tab B, it throws a "No row with the given identifier exists" for that item. I can't figure out if there is a way to have it not bind that row, return null, return new instance, etc.? there is an AutoLoadBehavior parameter on the ARDataBind attribute, but that appears to only affect loading of child entities, and not the root entity. regardless of which option I choose, I get the exception before control even enters the action method (except AutoLoadBehavior.Never, but that doesn't really help me). instead, I have code that calls Request.ObtainParamsNode() to pull the form nodes and parse them manually into objects, and ignores the ones that no longer exist. is there a better way? thanks.

  Hi, I have a fairly simple Linq query (simplified code): dim x = From Product In lstProductList.AsParallel Order By Product.Price.GrossPrice Descending Select Product Product is a class. Product.Price is a child class and GrossPrice is one of its properties. In order to work out the price I need to use Session("exchange_rate"). So for each item in lstProductList there's a function that does the following: NetPrice=NetPrice * Session("exchange_rate") (and then GrossPrice returns NetPrice+VatAmount) No matter what I've tried I cannot access session state. I have tried HttpContext.Current - but that returns Nothing. I've tried Implements IRequiresSessionState on the class (which helps in a similar situation in generic http handlers [.ashx]) - no luck. I'm using simple InProc session state mode. Exchange rate has to be user specific. What can I do? • IE7 CSS bug aligning <img> with text in a <ul>

  I've been banging my ahead on this IE7 bug for the last few days and it's time to resort to the mind of the crowd. I have the following HTML and CSS: http://beerpla.net/for_www/ie7_test/test.html The goal is to have a <ul>, with each <li> containing a small icon and some text. Multiline text would be aligned to itself and not wrap under the image. I've tried using float:left on the image and a bunch of other things, and finally I thought the position:absolute would work for sure but in IE7 I consistently see the text pop off to the next line and get misaligned with the image: This is what I expect it to look like: I even tried to make the div display:inline which kind of worked but then started wrapping under the image for long lines, so it was no good. zoom:1 also produced a similar effect. I'm at a loss at the moment. This code works fine in all other browsers. IE7 is a special, very special child. Any ideas? Thank you. Edit: If you have IE8, you can emulate IE7 by pressing F12 and then Alt-7.

• Bulk Copy from one server to another

  Hi All, I've one situation where I need to copy part of the data from one server to another. The table schema are exactly same. I need to move partial data from the source, which may or may not be available in the destination table. The solution I'm thinking is, use bcp to export data to a text(or .dat) file and then take that file to the destination as both are not accessible at the same time (Different network), then import the data to the destination. There are some conditions I need to satisfy. 1. I need to export only a list of data from the table, not whole. My client is going to give me IDs which needs to be moved from source to destination. I've around 3000 records in the master table, and same in the child tables too. What I expect is, only 300 records to be moved. 2. If the record exists in the destination, the client is going to instruct as whether to ignore or overwrite case to case. 90% of the time, we need to ignore the records without overwriting, but log the records in a log file. Please help me with the best approach. I thought of using BCP with query option to filter the data, but while importing, how do I bypass inserting the existing records? If I need to overwrite, how to do it? Thanks a lot in advance. ~Joseph

  Hi Let's say I have some Control that has been disabled. It contains a bunch of elements, but I want one of those child elements to remain enabled. Something like this: <ContentControl IsEnabled="False"> <Border> <Button Content="Button" IsEnabled="True"/> </Border> </ContentControl> So in this example, the Button's IsEnabled="True" setting gets overridden by its parent. Is there a way of stopping this from happening? This seems like a strange thing to be doing, but I have a situation where, when a Control is disabled and a user mouses down on it, I still want an event to be triggered. I read in WPF Unleashed that wrapping something in a Frame control, "..isolates the content from the rest of the UI [and] properties that would normally be inherited down the element tree stop when they reach the Frame", but wrapping the Button in the example above in a Frame doesn't work. Am I on the wrong track here?

• extracting RDL data using LINQ

  I'm working with some SQL Report definition files (RDLs), using LINQ to extract component query statements for validation. I'm trying to extract the <DataSet> elements from under the <DataSets> element. I seem to be getting hung up with one of the elements under <DataSet><Fields><Field> which has a namespace qualifier <rd:TypeName> I've been using LINQ to XML for other parts of the files where there is no namespace qualifiers with no trouble, by specifying a default namespace. The RDL specifies two namespaces: xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2005/01/reportdefinition" xmlns:rd="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQLServer/reporting/reportdesigner"> When I try to get the <DataSets> element, however, I get the following error: System.Xml.XmlException - The ':' character, hexadecimal value 0x3A, cannot be included in a name. I know it has to do with the namespace qualifier (rd:) in one of the child elements, but I'm having difficulty getting a LINQ expression that works. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

• ASP.Net RadioButton loses ViewState

  I'm having trouble with a simple radio set of two radio buttons (I don't want to use a RadioButtonList [RBL] because RBL doesn't allow child controls, and in my case, if you select one option, I want to enable a textbox next to the button; yes you could hack this with jQuery to move the textbox, but that's dirty!). I would check one, submit the form (either explicitly or through AutoPostBack), and the CheckedChanged event would never fire. When the page was reloaded, both buttons would be unchecked, regardless of their initial state on non-postback load or the state before form submission. I took out the checkbox and stripped this down to the simplest example I could come up with. • Parsing an arithmetic expression and building a tree from it in Java

  Hi, I needed some help with creating custom trees given an arithmetic expression. Say, for example, you input this arithmetic expression: (5+2)*7 The result tree should look like: * / \ + 7 / \ 5 2 I have some custom classes to represent the different types of nodes, i.e. PlusOp, LeafInt, etc. I don't need to evaluate the expression, just create the tree, so I can perform other functions on it later. Additionally, the negative operator '-' can only have one child, and to represent '5-2', you must input it as 5 + (-2). Some validation on the expression would be required to ensure each type of operator has the correct the no. of arguments/children, each opening bracket is accompanied by a closing bracket. Also, I should probably mention my friend has already written code which converts the input string into a stack of tokens, if that's going to be helpful for this. I'd appreciate any help at all. Thanks :) (I read that you can write a grammar and use antlr/JavaCC, etc. to create the parse tree, but I'm not familiar with these tools or with writing grammars, so if that's your solution, I'd be grateful if you could provide some helpful tutorials/links for them.)

  I have a bash shell script that loops through all child directories (but not files) of a certain directory. The problem is that some of the directory names contain spaces. Here are the contents of my test directory: $ls -F test Baltimore/ Cherry Hill/ Edison/ New York City/ Philadelphia/ cities.txt And the code that loops through the directories: for f in `find test/* -type d`; do echo $f done Here's the output: test/Baltimore test/Cherry Hill test/Edison test/New York City test/Philadelphia Cherry Hill and New York City are treated as 2 or 3 separate entries. I tried quoting the filenames, like so: for f in `find test/* -type d | sed -e 's/^/\"/' | sed -e 's/$/\"/'`; do echo $f done but to no avail. There's got to be a simple way to do this. Any ideas? The answers below are great. But to make this more complicated - I don't always want to use the directories listed in my test directory. Sometimes I want to pass in the directory names as command-line parameters instead. I took Charles' suggestion of setting the IFS and came up with the following: dirlist="${@}" ( [[ -z "$dirlist" ]] && dirlist=`find test -mindepth 1 -type d` && IFS=$'\n' for d in $dirlist; do echo $d done ) and this works just fine unless there are spaces in the command line arguments (even if those arguments are quoted). For example, calling the script like this: test.sh "Cherry Hill" "New York City" produces the following output: Cherry Hill New York City Again, I know there must be a way to do this - I just don't know what it is...

• Winforms MVP with Castle Windsor - DI for subforms?

  I'm building a winforms app utilizing passive-view MVP and Castle Windsor as an IoC container. I'm still a little new to dependency injection and MVP, so I'm looking for some clarity... I have a main form which contains a number of user controls, and also will bring up other dialogs (ex. Login, options, etc) as needed. My first question is...should I use constructor injection to get the presenters for these other views into the main view, or should I go back to a Service Locator-type pattern? (which I've been told is a big nono!) Or something else? Second question...the user controls need to communicate back to the main form when they are "completed" (definition of that state varies based on the control). Is there a standard way of hooking these up? I was thinking perhaps just wiring up events between the main presenter and the child presenters, but I'm not sure if this is proper thinking. I'd appreciate any help, it seems that the combination of MVP and IoC in winforms isn't exactly well-documented.

• Site Security/Access management for asp.net mvc application

  I am trying to find a good pattern to use for user access validation. Basically on a webforms application I had a framework which used user roles to define access, ie, users were assigned into roles, and "pages" were granted access to a page. I had a table in the database with all the pages listed in it. Pages could have child pages that got their access inherited from the parent. When defining access, I assigned the roles access to the pages. Users in the role then had access to the pages. It is fairly simple to manage as well. The way I implemented this was on a base class that every page inherited. On pageload/init I would check the page url and validate access and act appropriately. However I am now working on a MVC application and need to implement something similar, however I can't find a good way to make my previous solution work. Purely because I don't have static pages as url paths. Also I am not sure how best to approach this as I now have controllers rather then aspx pages. I have looked at the MVCSitemapprovider, but that does not work off a database, it needs a sitemap file. I need control of changing user persmissions on the fly. Any thoughts/suggestions/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

• How do I encapsulate form/post/validation[/redirect] in ViewUserControl in ASP.Net MVC 2

  What I am trying to achieve: encapsulate a Login (or any) Form to be reused across site post to self when Login/validation fails, show original page with Validation Summary (some might argue to just post to Login Page and show Validation Summary there; if what I'm trying to achieve isn't possible, I will just go that route) when Login succeeds, redirect to /App/Home/Index also, want to: stick to PRG principles avoid ajax keep Login Form (UserController.Login()) as encapsulated as possible; avoid having to implement HomeController.Login() since the Login Form might appear elsewhere All but the redirect works. My approach thus far has been: Home/Index includes Login Form: <%Html.RenderAction("Login","User");%> User/Login ViewUserControl<UserLoginViewModel> includes: <%=Html.ValidationSummary("") % using(Html.BeginForm()){} includes hidden form field "userlogin"="1" public class UserController : BaseController { ... [AcceptPostWhenFieldExists(FieldName = "userlogin")] public ActionResult Login(UserLoginViewModel model, FormCollection form){ if (ModelState.IsValid) { if(checkUserCredentials()) { setUserCredentials() return this.RedirectToAction<Areas.App.Controllers.HomeController>(x = x.Index()); } else { return View(); } } ... } Works great when: ModelState or User Credentials fail -- return View() does yield to Home/Index and displays appropriate validation summary. (I have a Register Form on the same page, using the same structure. Each form's validation summary only shows when that form is submitted.) Fails when: ModelState and User Credentials valid -- RedirectToAction<>() gives following error: "Child actions are not allowed to perform redirect actions." It seems like in the Classic ASP days, this would've been solved with Response.Buffer=True. Is there an equivalent setting or workaround now? Btw, running: ASP.Net 4, MVC 2, VS 2010, Dev/Debugging Web Server I hope all of that makes sense. So, what are my options? Or where am I going wrong in my approach? tia!

• Debugger Visualizer, ElementHost, and Edit and Continue problems

  I recently wrote a custom Debugger Visualizer for Visual Studio 2008 for one of the custom types in my application. The UI for the visualizer is written in WPF and is hosted in an element host and shown using the IDialogVisualizerService windowService object. Everything works great, and my visualizer loads and shows the relevant information, but if try to "edit and continue" in my application after loading the visualizer, Visual Studio crashes with no useful error message. In trying to debug this I removed almost all of my code from the solution to the point where I was only serializing a string with the ObjectSource and displaying just an empty element host and I still get the crash on edit and continue. If I remove the element host and show a WinForms control or form there is no crash. • Proper way to implement IXmlSerializable?

  Once a programmer decides to implement IXmlSerializable, what are the rules and best practices for implementing it? I've heard that GetSchema() should return null and ReadXml should move to the next element before returning. Are these true? And what about WriteXml: should it write a root element for the object or is it assumed that the root is already written? How should child objects be treated and written. Here's a sample of what I have now. • like exec command in silverlight(save and load properties of Elements dynamically)

  i have some element in my container and want to save all properties of this elements. i list this element by VisualTreeHelper and save its attributes in DB, question is that how to retrieve this properties and affect them? i think that The Silverlight have some statement that behave like Exec in Sql-Server. i save properties in one line that delimited by semicolon.(if you have any suggestion ,appreciate) Edit: suppose this scenario: End-User choose a tool from Mytoolbox(a container like Grid) ,a dialog shown its properties for creation and finally draw Grid . in resumption he/she choose one element(like Button) and drop it on one of the grid's cell. now i want to save workspace that he/she created! My RootLayout have one container control so any of element are child of this.HERETOFORE i want create one string that contain all general properties(not all of them) and save to DB, and when i load this control, i create an element by the type that i saved and affect it by the properties that i saved; with something like EXEC command. is this possible ? have you new approach for this scenario(Guide me with example please).

• Container/Wrapper Div does not contain all content?

  Container/Wrapper Div does not contain all content (ie all the child Div's).I've tried overflow: hidden but still doesn't work. Can someone please tell me why this is happening and what are the possible solutions.
