• Can't modify XNA Vector components

  I have a class called Sprite, and ballSprite is an instance of that class. Sprite has a Vector2 property called Position. I'm trying to increment the Vector's X component like so: ballSprite.Position.X++; but it causes this error: Cannot modify the return value of 'WindowsGame1.Sprite.Position' because it is not a variable Is it not possible to set components like this? The tooltip for the X and Y fields says "Get or set ..." so I can't see why this isn't working.

• Communication between .net winform and webform

  Hi, I need to make a webform communicate with a winform and back to the webform. The reason for this is it exists a webform software already made, and now it's needed the behavior of a .net component only available for winforms. We've tried going with Process.Start and shell.execute but with this approach the software hangs or it takes too long to respond. The webform also needs to be called from client pcs in the network, I think this adds another problem due to the non possibility of calling the execution of a file from a webform remotelly, but I dont know much about this technical issue we've read some articles about embedding a winform in a webform, sending data from a winform to a webform, etc. and we would like to know what's the recommend approach (if there is any) for handdling a situation like this.

• How to create horizontal menu in android ?

  Hello Friends, I am working on horizontal menu that will open on top of the screen. Layout is something like following, || < || Menu Item1 || Menu Item2 || Menu Item3 || || I want to put this on top of the screen. It can have more than 3 menu item and it can traverse through previous and next arrow. I started with like this, RelativeLayout ( width - fill_parent) Gallery View ( Here i appended adapter ) There is two problem, - Gallery view contains the space before and after - While scrolling its item gets selected Though its not ideal solution for this. Let say I click on topic A in the west region, I want to replace (replace as in 'delete last topic') the center region with 'extjs' program code named topic_a.js I succeed in loading with this code: dynamicPanel = new Ext.Component({ loader: { url: '/www/file.htm', renderer: 'html', autoLoad: true, scripts: true } }); var oMainContainer = Ext.getCmp('maincontainer'); oMainContainer.show(); oMainContainer.add(dynamicPanel); But calling this the second time 'adds' things up in the center region and of course fails short in 'deleting', what would be a good approach?

• Flex: Problem with CollectionEvent on ArrayCollection

  Hi there, got a reference to an arrayCollection and add event listener like this: collection.addEventListener(CollectionEvent.COLLECTION_CHANGE, onCollectionChange); that´s fine. Now some other component does have the same reference and is adding items to and removing items from that collection. Each time the handler is called: private function onProjectPersonsChange(event:Event):void { if (event.kind == CollectionEventKind.ADD) { //do something } else if (event.kind == CollectionEventKind.REMOVE) { //do something //here is the problem: event.items.length = 0 } else { trace('CollectionEvent: kind not handled!'); } } Does somebody know why the removed item is not in 'items'?   I'm trying to figure out what this sort of thing is called, and eventually how I can create one in a web browser. It looks like this (screenshot of the first app that came to mind): The specific component/pattern I'm looking for is the two list boxes ("Included Gear" and "Excluded Gear") that represent inclusion/exclusion of items from a set. I'm not really looking for the WPF name (if there is one) but it might be helpful. I am looking for the name of this thingy, if there is one, and if you really want to make my day, you can point me toward a jQuery or YUI way of making one of these dealies in a browser. In case you were wondering, the screenshot is a World of Warcraft gear optimization program. Go figure why it was the first program that came to mind when I was trying to think of an example.

• Trying to re-create UI object from the native iPhone Calendar Notes

  Probably a lame question for a start but i'm trying to re-create the ui object that's used in Apple's native Calendar to create notes. It's the basic text-field but with multiple lines. Sort of a text-area. Now i know that anything from the calendar in terms of ui objects isn't available but i have seen this in quite few apps so i'm guessing it's some sort of standard component. I must be dumb but i just cannot find it. Help please... Thx :)

• Best way to use the same HTML on static web-pages

  If you use dynamic pages like JSP or asp.net, you can have your page template included, and then content added. But what if you have no server-side component and all pages are just HTML/JS? You can of course create a template then copy it for each page, but then if you want to change something you risk having to modify every page, even if you put most styling in CSS properly. Are there any non-awful ways to do this? I could see that an iframe could be used to load the content into the central page but that sounds nasty. Does HTML provide any way to include a base file and add to it?

  I am trying to write some google map functionlity and playing around with javascript closures with an aim to try organise and structure my code better. • C# Multi threading- Move objects between threads

  Hi, i am working with a winforms control that is both a GUI element and also does some internal processing that has not been exposed to the developer. When this component is instantiated it may take between 5 and 15 seconds to become ready so what i want to do is put it on another thread and when its done bring it back to the gui thread and place it on my form. The problem is that this will (and has) cause a cross thread exception. Normally when i work with worker threads its just with simple data objects i can push back when processing is complete and then use with controls already on the main thread but ive never needed to move an entire control in this fashion. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how? If not how does one deal with a problem like this where there is the potential to lock the main gui?

• Robust Way of Selecting All Text in Textbox

  I'm trying to have the content of the an HTML textbox be selected fully onFocus. I know the simple solution of putting a onfocus="this.select()" on the component but this is not a good solution because if a user double clicks into the area the selection is lost and in browsers like chrome it is rarely working like it should and just reverts into input form. I have searched on Google for a little while and can't find a good solution, most suggestions are of this simple solution. What I would like it is that the selection inside the textbox not change once selected and if possible the user should not be able to edit the content of the textbox, for example if you have used AdSense when you grab code from AdSense the selection never changes and your unable to alter the code in the textbox. Any solutions would be appreciated.

  The question pretty much says it all. I have an app with an older component that doesn't work right if runtime themes are enabled. But if I don't enable them, the app always ends up messing with the virtual store. Thanks! Update: Using Mark's solution below, the application no longer writes to the Virtual Store. But, now it won't access a tdb file (Tiny Database file) that it needs. This tdb file is the same file that was being written to the Virtual store. Any ideas on how I can give it access to the tdb file and still prevent writing the Virtual Store?

• How to mimic an excel spreadsheet on a website in vb.net?

  I am building a website to capture data. I have many spreadsheets that are used for data entry or capture. Now I want to mimic these complex spreadsheets on the web forms but I am unsure of the correct control to use. Data entry must be allowed and live calculations also need to be made similar to formulas on normal excel spreadsheets. Later on the data must be captured into an SQL table. What would be the best control to use or method to mimic that functionality, albeit that the spreadsheet component is no longer available in visual studio 2010. Is it a data grid? Thanks

• Do you have to pay for GNU GPL software that is "for sale"?

  I've seen some software (a Joomla component, to be exact) for sale on a web site. The web site says it is licensed under the GNU GPL2. However it also says you need to pay for every site you use the software on (with bulk discounts). I know it's perfectly acceptable to sell software under the GPL, however the license implies that the source code must be distributed at no cost. So is this a legitimate use of the GPL, or is it violating the license? Is it legal to download the software for free (say, from Bittorrent) and use it as I wish?

  I need to ask if any of you has any knowledge of creating file thumbnails on the fly. I have found a free component but it works only for PDF files, PDFThumbnailer. But my requirement is to convert DOC/RTF/PDF/XLS files to thumbnails on the fly, and if possible allow to save it as an image for later reference which currently PDFThumbnailer doesnt allow. PDFThumbnailer takes the pdf file and renders an image for it on browser, if that image can also be saved somehow to my machine that would be great too. • Creating a Pop up and setting its view state before it displays

  Hi, I am a beginner developer in Flex, and I have been using viewstates lately. I had a couple of custom popup titlewindow components that are initialized using: PopUpManager.createPopUp(this, ContentCreate, true); They both contain view states already, and are very similar so I wanted to combione them into one popup titlewindow and change view state on initialisation of the popup to either the Create version of the popup or the Update. I thought I was being smart haha, but I realized soon after refactoring my code that, I as far as I know I can't pass parameters to the popup to indicate which state I want, if it is created using the PopUpManager. Does anyone know how to pass parameters to the PopupManager, or create the ContentCreate component(TitleWindow) in mxml or code so I can specify the view state?

• What happens if you break out of a Lock() statement?

  I'm writing a program which listens to an incoming TcpClient and handles data when it arrives. The Listen() method is run on a separate thread within the component, so it needs to be threadsafe. If I break out of a do while loop while I'm within a lock() statement, will the lock be released? If not, how do I accomplish this? Thanks!   So what I want to do is, in my main layout, have a menu for logged in users, and a different for anon users. THe layout will be used on every page, so I'm not sure how to do this, as I've seen, the Auth Component can only be used in the controller, this would be nice if I had to do this in only one view, but for every view, how can I do this?   I have a flash banner ad (AS3) which uses a FLV Player component for a remove video. The Skin exports it's own SWF file for user with the video controls as I'm sure anyone familiar with Flash knows. Is there anyway to specify where this file is remotely? I have to provide 1 file to my advertiser, and do not want to have to create custom video controls for this. Is it possible to upload this swf file to a remote location and tell Flash to pull it from there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• How can I modify the application file of an application that is currently running (on Linux)?

  I have an application running called AppFS. This application has an ext2 filesystem just attached to the end of the file (it's positioned so that the application binary exists in a 1MB spacing area, followed by the ext2 data). Now I've got FUSE embedded in the program and I've managed to extract the filesystem out of the application data into a temporary file so that FUSE can mount / use it. The problem I have now is writing the temporary file back into the application file. I get "Text file busy" presumably because the application has locked itself and won't let writes occur. Is there a way I can force the file to become unlocked so I can write data to it? (It's important to note that I'm not changing the application binary area - just rewriting the ext2 component.) It needs to be unlocked without requiring root permissions (unlocked by the same user who started the application).

• Visual Studio adds a circular reference when I drag and drop a user control from the Toolbox

  I have a user control C that is defined inside project P. C is present as a ".NET Framework Component" in my Visual Studio Toolbox. I open a form F (also defined inside project P) and drop C onto F. Once I do that drop, Visual Studio adds a reference under P pointing to P's own DLL. This is unnecessary and causes tons of build errors like The call is ambiguous between the following methods or properties... after which it lists the exact same method twice. If I go into References and delete the added reference, it builds correctly. Can I prevent VS from adding this unnecessary reference?
