  My first question on here on SF so please forgive me if I manage to bork the post. :) Anyways, I'm using mod_rewrite on one of my machines with a simple rule that redirects to a webapp on another machine. I'm also setting the header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' on both machines. The problem is that when I hit the rewrite rule, I loose the 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header setting.   TLDR I want my treepanel from EXTJS to remember its previous settings. ExtJS-3.2.1 I have seen this done before for ExtJS-2.x.x :See here on the extjs forums. But as seen as they are pretty much lifeless, with threads on there asking this question or similar with no reply for up to 6months. I thought I would bring it here. I need to be able to get my treePanel to remember previous opened folders and which boxes are checked. It is async treePanel.   I'm trying to set up Jenkins in Tomcat7 on Ubuntu. I installed Tomcat7 and deployed jenkins.war, and I now see the Jenkins home page at http://myhost:8080/jenkins, but it's attempting to create the Jenkins directory at /usr/share/tomcat7/.jenkins, which it can't for security reasons. I've already created /srv/jenkins and given the tomcat7 group permissions, and want to set JENKINS_HOME to that path. I've tried adding it to the tomcat configuration in /etc/tomcat7/server.xml: <GlobalNamingResources> <Environment name="JENKINS_HOME" value="/srv/jenkins" type="java.lang.String" override="false"/> <!-- Default settings --> And I've also tried adding it to the automatically created context file in ROOT/META-INF/context.xml (there is no $CATALINA_HOME/conf as far as I can tell). <Context path="/" antiResourceLocking="false" > <Environment name="JENKINS_HOME" value="/srv/jenkins/" type="java.lang.String"/> </Context> But even after restarting tomcat7 I still get the same result (trying to use /usr/share/tomcat7/.jenkins). Opened page says I need browser supporting cookies (or turned on).   I am using Silverlight 3 on my website. I have a Login Page for role based authentication, that routes users with different privileges to different parts of the website. I want to use something analogous to the Session Variables available in standard ASP.Net applications. I intend to use Isolated Storage to achieve this. But I am skeptical about security in this option, as the Isolated Storage exists on the client side, and can be manipulated on client side. I am new to the Isolated Storage concept and don't know about the security options provided by it in terms of Encryption and server-side validation etc. If any of you have used it or are aware of the security provided in this case, could you please shed some light on the same.   I'm making a C Assessment Program through Java, which has a bunch of programming questions for C, and it lets the user input an answer in the form of C code, and then press a "Compile" button, which is linked to a bat file that runs the user input code through gcc. I've got the input and compiling working, but I need to get the output from the compiler and get that to print textarea within the program. Also, how would I get the output of the compiler if the compile fails because of an error? The way I've got it in my batch file at the moment doesn't put anything in a text file if it fails.

In the database each record gets an ID field. Now when the users clicks submit and goes to the next page, i want the ID's (they could be 1 to 1000+) from the DB that he just inserted and have them available on the second page. how can i take all the id's from page 1 to page 2? can i do it in session? or something else.   I've created a WCF service in which I would like it to maintain state between calls from the client. I figured the easiest way to do this was to add this attribute to the service: [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession)] since this is supposed to keep a separate service alive for each client over the life of the client proxy (or timeout in the extreme case). I also added a test function that tracks a list of user inputs, and spits out a concatenated string with all the inputs over the life of the service. When I run this in the test client generated by visual studio, I find that the list I was using to hold past data is reset with each call. Is there something else I need to do to maintain state per session?

  On a MVC 2 website what I want to do is get a list of products / CategoryId. From that list, create a list of distinct CategoryId's. Then randomly pick a categoryId from the second list and use it to get all the products for that categoryId. I then want to store that CategoryId so that I don't display those products on the next run. I don't need any code examples to start. What I'm wondering is that I think I would put this code in a class in my model (Dll) and store the list of displayed CategoryId's in session. Is this a good solution or should I go another way? Thank you for you help

  In the description of how to add a list of options to an AlertDialog the official Android documentation alludes to saving a users preferences with one of the "data storage techniques." The examples assume the AlertDialog has been spawned within an Activity class. In my case I've created a class that extends ItemizedOverlay. This class overrides the onTap method and uses an AlertDialog to prompt the user to make a multi-choice selection. I would like to capture and persist the selections for each OverlayItem they tap on.
