• haar transformation on an image

  hello, i need some help with haar transformation, i have to apply it on an image. My math is bad, my english not all that awesome and i find it hard to understand from articles on the internet. I found this page http://www.cs.ucf.edu/~mali/haar/haar.cpp where the haar transformation is applied on 2d matrix. I suppose if i give image pixels matrix in there, it should work? im confused about this stuff, could someone enlighten me a bit please? Thank you!

• Equal height divs with footer always at bottom of tallest div

  I was wondering if this were possible, and if it is the best way to go about this: example image (since I'm not allowed to post pics yet ^^) So, not only does each column have to be of equal height, but each column also has its own individual footer. I saw this post httx://stackoverflow.com/questions/1347366/div-at-bottom-of-window-and-adaptable-height-div (I also can't post more than one link....) - how could I rework this technique to apply to the bottom of the divs and not the bottom of the window? *edit - each column will have content that will constantly change and be of variable height. I'm thinking I could just figure out the equal height columns first, then just absolute position a footer div within those columns. Does its parent div then have to be position: relative?

• How to hide action bar before activity is created, and then show it again?

  I need to implements splash screen in my honeycomb app. I use this code in activity's onCreate to show splash: setContentView(R.layout.splash); getActionBar().hide(); and this code to show main UI after some time: setContentView(R.layout.main); getActionBar().show(); But before onCreate is called and splash appears, there is small amount of time when action bar shown. How can I made it not to show? I tried to apply theme to activity without action bar: <item name="android:windowActionBar">false</item> but in that case getActionBar() always returns null and I found no way to show it again.

• Solving the problem of finding parts which work well with each other

  Hi, I have a database of items. They are for cars and similar parts (eg cam/pistons) work better than others in different combinations (eg one product will work well with another, while another combination of 2 parts may not). There are so many possible permutations, what solutions apply to this problem? So far, I feel that these are possible approaches (Where I have question marks, something tells me these are solutions but I am not 100% confident they are). Neural networks (?) Collection-based approach (selection of parts in a collection for cam, and likewise for pistons in another collection, all work well with each other) Business rules engine (?) • Sorting a meta-list by first element of children lists in Python

  I have a list, root, of lists, root[child0], root[child1], etc. I want to sort the children of the root list by the first value in the child list, root[child0][0], which is an int. Example: import random children = 10 root = [[random.randint(0, children), "some value"] for child in children] I want to sort root from greatest to least by the first element of each of it's children. I've taken a look at some previous entries that used sorted() and a lamda function I'm entirely unfamiliar with, so I'm unsure of how to apply that to my problem. • Any way to add an observer to the head of the queue using Element#observe?

  This might not be possible but before I rewrite part of my application I wanted to ask... I have a JavaScript app which creates a submit <input> and observes that input's click event using Prototype's Element#observe function. For a few particular pages on one particular site which uses this app, I need to apply some additional business logic before the code which executes normally when the button is clicked. Is there any way I can use Elemen#observe to add my new event handler before the existing event handler, so I can stop the event if these new conditions aren't met? If not I'll probably solve this the "proper" way by having the application fire a specific beforeTakingAction event and add a listener for that which prevents the application from taking it's action, but that's more complicated than this simple problem requires, and requires rewriting part of a shared application for just one user...

• Scripting vim to Run Perltidy on a Buffer

  At my current job, we have coding-style standards that are different from the ones I normally follow. Fortunately, we have a canned RC file for perltidy that I can apply to reformat files before I submit them to our review process. I have code for emacs that I use to run a command over a buffer and replace the buffer with the output, which I have adapted for this. But I sometimes alternate between emacs and vim, and would like to have the same capabilities there. I'm sure that this or something similar is simple and had been done and re-done many times over. But I've not had much luck finding any examples of vim-script that seem to do what I need. Which is, in essence, to be able to hit a key combo (like Ctrl-F6, what I use in emacs) and have the buffer be reformatted in-place by perltidy. While I'm a comfortable vim-user, I'm completely clueless at writing this sort of thing for vim.

  Hi there, I am using phpQuery in order to apply some twaks to editorial content. As its syntax is the same as jQuery, I consider this a dom scripting issue. To get rid of elements which are not representing anything, but wrapping other stuff (like the div in <div><p>blah</p></div> I came up with this selector: ['div:not([align][class][id][style][title][dir][lang][onclick][ondblclick][onmousedown] [onmouseup][onmouseover][onmousemove][onmouseout][onkeypress][onkeydown][onkeyup])'] which looks quite monstrous for a selector simply aming on Divs which just do not have any (valid) attribute. I guess there must be a more straight-forward way to accomplish that, right? Edit: Oh, and I just noticed that it even doesn't do wat I intended to ...

  I'm a developer (and therefore a tester) of a website. Our site accepts any JavaScript or HTML from an user but I haven't been successful in explaining the danger of it, as obvious as it is. So I would like to prove it by logging in as my boss to prove to him that there is definitely a real danger here. I think this will put down any of his arguments and let us move onto filtering content like this.   Hello, I am developing an application which has several CRUD actions... I am using Java and i am forced to use Struts framework. My problem is: I have a search page which returns some results.The user can click at a result and then he goes to another edit-page... He may apply changes or not...What i need is a way to return at the result page again and at the same scroll position.Javascript must be enabled for this project however.. I am wondering which is the best practice to achieve this effect... A solution would be to save the last search URL but i know that this wouldnt work if the user has multiple results. I know how to do it but i am lloking for a good practice!

• Extended maxima transform in Matlab

  I use imtophat to apply a filter to an m x n array. I then find the local max using imextendedmax(). I get mostly 0's everywhere except for 1's in the general areas where I am expecting a local max. The weird thing is, though, that I don't get just one local max. Instead in these places I get MANY elements with 1's such as 00011100000 00111111000 00000110000 yet the values there are close but NOT equal so I would expect that there would be one that is higher than all of the rest. So I'm wondering a) if this is a bug and how I might fix it and b) how you would choose choose the element of these 1's with the highest value.

I find [snipplet 1] to be more visually pleasing than [snipplet 2], but what I mean is snipplet 2. Thanks!

  Hello! I've got some tables in an existing database and I want to map them to a Java object. Actually it's one table that contains the main information an some other tables that reference to such a table entry with a foreign key. I don't want to store objects in the database, I only want to read from it. The program should not be allowed to apply any changes to the underlying database. Currently I read from the database with 5 JDBC sql queries and set the results then on an object. I'm now looking for a less code intensive way. Another goal is the learning aspect. Is Hibernate suitable for this task, or is there another ORM framework that better fits my requirement?

• Can a variable like 'int' be considered a primitive/fundamental data structure?

  A rough definition of a data structure is that it allows you to store data and apply a set of operations on that data while preserving consistency of data before and after the operation. However some people insist that a primitive variable like 'int' can also be considered as a data structure. I get that part where it allows you to store data but I guess the operation part is missing. Primitive variables don't have operations attached to them. So I feel that unless you have a set of operations defined and attached to it you cannot call it a data structure. 'int' doesn't have any operation attached to it, it can be operated upon with a set of generic operators. Please advise if I got something wrong here.
