  • Delphi: How to respond to WM_SettingChange/WM_WinIniChange?

    i need to know when my application recieves a WM_SETTINGCHANGE message (formerly known as WM_WININICHANGE). Problem is that the message pump in TApplication sends it down a black hole (default handler) before i can get a chance to see it: procedure TApplication.WndProc(var Message: TMessage); ... begin Message.Result := 0; for I := 0 to FWindowHooks.Count - 1 do if TWindowHook(FWindowHooks[I]^)(Message) then Exit; CheckIniChange(Message); with Message do case Msg of WM_SETTINGCHANGE: begin Mouse.SettingChanged(wParam); Default; <----------------------*poof* down the sink hole end; ... end; ... end; The procedure CheckIniChange() doesn't throw any event i can handle, neither does Mouse.SettingChanged(). And once the code path reaches Default, it is sent down the DefWindowProc drain hole, never to be seen again (since the first thing the WndProc does is set the Message.Result to zero. i was hoping to assign a handler to a TApplicationEvents.OnMessage event: procedure TdmGlobal.ApplicationEvents1Message(var Msg: tagMSG; var Handled: Boolean); begin case Msg.message of WM_SETTINGCHANGE: begin // Code end; end; end; But the OnMessage event is only thrown for messages that come through the message pump. Since the WM_SETTINGCHANGE message is "handled", it never sees the PeekMessage TranslateMessage DispatchMessage system. How can i respond to the windows broadcast WM_SETTINGCHANGE?

Due to black being transparent color now (kinda stupid choice, why couldn't it be pink) anything that is clBlack becomes transparent, too. It means all labels, edits, button texts... even if I set text to some other color at design time, DWM still makes them that color AND transparent. Well, my question would be - whether it's possible to solve this somehow?

  • Scaling a CBitmap - what am I doing wrong?

    I've written the following code, which attempts to take a 32x32 bitmap (loaded through MFC's Resource system) and turn it into a 16x16 bitmap, so they can be used as the big and small CImageLists for a CListCtrl. However, when I open the CListCtrl, all the icons are black (in both small and large view). Before I started playing with resizing, everything worked perfectly in Large View.   • NETCF - Optimized Repaint (onPaint)

    Hi Guys, I want to ask for suggestions on how to optimize a repaint in Compact Framework? GetHashCode() didn't help because it always return a different hash code. Anyway, I have a program which you can drag and resize an object in run time. This object is a transparent object and it has a PNG image which also dynamically resize relative to object client size. Though I noticed, (e.g. I have 4 transparent object and I'm dragging or resizing one) all 4 of them triggers OnPaintBackground even if the 3 are not moving. Another one when am just tapping on the one object .. it sill triggers onPaintBacground(). Anyway, I don't have a problem when this events get triggered. What I like to do is optimization and that means I only have to repaint the object when it's necessary. As I see it, I have a mistake in my double buffering implementation. — I have doubt, where I must place function swapBuffers — before or after (as many sources says) the drawing? As you noticed, I use function swapBuffers (drawable.swapBuffers()) before drawing a rectangle. Otherwise, I'm getting a noise after resize. So what is an appropriate way to do that? Including or omitting the line capabilities.setDoubleBuffered(true) does not make any effect.

  • UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleNone does not hide blue separator line when selecting in UITableView

    Before describing the problem, let me first point out that this is a distinct issue from this question. The Problem This screenshot was taken with a break set at tableView:didSelectRowAtIndexPath:, and as you can see in the simulator (far right of the image), there's a single-pixel blue line at the bottom of the selected cell. This is not the design asked for by the client, nor is it how this app used to behave: there should be no separator, even on selection. How I Got Here I'd initially designed this table view using custom UITableViewCell classes with corresponding nib (.xib) files and had no trouble with selections: the separator was hidden as desired. Predictably, scrolling was sluggish due to all the overhead from the view hierarchy, so I reworked the custom cells to use Loren Brichter's fast scrolling solution. Now scrolling is much faster, but I can't get rid of the separator for the life of me. What I've tried At the time of the screenshot above... the table view has "Separator [None]" in IB. the UIViewController that contains the table view has this line in viewDid Load: self.tableView.separatorStyle = UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleNone; As you can see in the screenshot, I inserted some unused lines to prove that separatorStyle is set as desired. Other testing confirms that tableView and self.tableView are equivalent pointers at that same breakpoint. I've also tried setting tableView.separatorColor to black and to clear, all with the same result: the cells look right until a selection is made.

    Hi, I don't know exactly how to explain this problem, but I'll try. I have a ListView with several items. Each item has inside a TextView and two ImageView. I want the ImageView change when I click on them, and I want to open a context menu when I press for a long time into the ListView item. For the ImageView, everything works properly. For the whole item, I can show the context menu after a long press, but my problem is that the ImageView changes as well when I am pressing the TextView, for example.   • CGContextSetShadow() - shadow direction reversed between iOS 3.0 and 4.0?

    I've been using CGContextSetShadowWithColor() in my Quartz drawing code on the iPhone to generate the "stomped in" look for text and other things (in drawRect: and drawLayer:inContext:). Worked perfectly, but when running the exact same code against iOS 3.2 and now iOS 4.0 I noticed that the shadows are all in the opposite direction. E.g. in the following code I set a black shadow to be 1 pixel above the text, which gave it a "pressed in" look, and now this shadow is 1px below the text, giving it a standard shadow. ... CGContextSetShadowWithColor(context, CGSizeMake(0.f, 1.f), 0.5f, shadowColor); CGContextShowGlyphsAtPoint(context, origin.x, origin.y, glyphs, length); ... Now I don't know whether I am (or have been) doing something wrong or whether there has been a change to the handling of this setting. I haven't applied any transformation that would explain this to me, at least not knowingly. I've flipped the text matrix in one instance, but not in others and this behavior is consistent. Plus I wasn't able to find anything about this in the SDK Release Notes, so it looks like it's probably me. What might be the issue?

    Hi All, I'm not sure this is possible, but is there a syntax to be used in CSS when you want to style an element based on the combination of classes applied to it? I understand that I can check an element with jQuery or something and change it's style based on the classes it has, but is there a pure CSS way to do this? For example, if I have a class for bold and green: .bold_green { color:green; font-weight:bold; } And a class for bold and blue: .bold_blue { color:green; font-weight:bold. } Now, say I am using jQuery to add and remove classes dynamically and want any element that has both classes to turn italic pink. Something like: .bold_green AND .bold_blue { color:pink; font-style:italic; } Or, if I want to style an element that has aclass, and is a descendant of another element that has another class? Something like: .bold_green HAS_CHILD .bold_blue { color:black; background-color:yellow; } Thanks!

Is it possible to change the fontcolor for a specific component according the presence of data in the DB ?   • Hyphen vs Dash : Replace Dash with Hyphen

    Alright so we had a problem recently In reporting services some of the String Columns were appearing as gibberish Chinese characters. On further investigation we found it is the hyphen. Well that's what we though first. On further investigation we found it a dash (or en dash) . Basically the reason this has happened is people copy pasting values into this column from word which converts hyphens into dashes automatically. But if you look at the database they both look the same. Though on the application side you can see the difference. How do I replace the dash with a normal hyphen. If you copy the value in put it in SQL server. A hyphen is gray while a dash is black but they both look exactly the same (i.e not bigger or smaller). Problem is I can't write a REPLACE script then (they are the freakin same) REPLACE ('-' with '-') is there a way special characters like the dash can be identified in SQL server? SQL Server v 2005

If there is a better way of using doing flip animations with ScatterViewItem's, that'd be cool too! Thanks!

    Why does my UISearchDisplayController show "No results" even if the shouldReloadTableForSearchString method returns NO? Shouldn't it just do nothing and stay black?
