Sometimes integration tests are rather complex to write or developers have no enough time to check output - does it make sense to write tests that make sure "no exceptions are thrown" only? Such tests provide some input parameters set(s) and doesn't check the result, but only make sure code not failed with exception?
May be such tests are not very useful but appropriate in situations when you have no time?
I need to know the referring server for a page on my site.
Is there any safe method to check where the user "came" to the page FROM?
I tried uploading this to my server, but this wont output anything at all when I write the adress to the file in the browsers adress bar:
<?php echo $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']; ?>
I need to check this in order to display a link on the page or not...
Thanks
I have two tables:
info: ID, fee_id
and
fee: ID, amount
and a reference between them (SQL Server 2008):
ALTER TABLE info WITH CHECK ADD CONSTRAINT FK_info_fee FOREIGN KEY(fee_id)
REFERENCES fee (ID)
ALTER TABLE info CHECK CONSTRAINT FK_info_fee
GO
How to configure this reference that way so a record in fee will be deleted if info.fee_id becomes NULL

response = self.client.get('/user/login/')
I want a detailed check like input ids, and other attributes. Also, how about sessions that has been set? is it possible to check their values in the test?
What is the recommended way to zerofill a value in JavaScript? I imagine I could build a custom function to pad zeros on to a typecasted value, but I'm wondering if there is a more direct way to do this?
Note: By "zerofilled" I mean it in the database sense of the word (where a 6-digit zerofilled representation of the number 5 would be "000005").
Hey,
The question is pretty simple, but i'm not the big AJAX/JS coder, so I have no clue if it's possible.
Is there any way that I can check whether or not an alert() was executed on a remote site? Like if I inputted an alert("Welcome to this site"); through a get variable, is there any way to check if it that alert() was actually executed in the browser?
And not necessarily through AJAX/JS.
Another opinion question:
What is the proper (in your opinion) to check for nulls in an MVC controller. For instance, if you have an edit controller that fetches a record from the db based on an id, what do you do if that record is not found? I found this article, but I'm not sure I like that method. Do you just check for it with an if statement and redirect to a 404 page? What solution do you use?
i am making lan connection.afer all to do i have check all the setting of workgroup and all but if i am checking through ping command to check they are connected or not??only from one system reply is coming.from the secong system reply is not coming.and i m accessing the workgru=oup"the maessge\ pc2 is not accessible.the network path not found"what should i do??
I have spreadsheet with 50+ checkboxes from the forms toolbar. In a few instances you can only check 1 checkbox from a group i.e you check one checkbox from checkbox 1 to checkbox 5.
I'm trying to achieve this without any code if possible. Option button is not preferred since I want an uniformed spreadsheet.
How can you group the checkbox1 to checkbox5 so that they become mutually exclusive for a group.
Thank you
Hi all,
I have next situation. I need to choise source control system for my project. This scs must provide the API to my .net application to get information about check-in-s for specified user and date period and about changes which was done in this check-in-s (the number of added and updated lines).
What source control system provides this functionality?
P.S. I can't use the TFS, it's a limitation..
I have checked out now a local working copy of a codebase that lives in an svn repo. It's a big Java project that I use Eclipse to develop in. Eclipse of course builds everything on the fly, in it's own way with all the binaries ending up in [project root]/bin. That's perfectly fine with me, for development, but when the build runs on the build server, it looks quite a lot different (maven build, binaries end up in a different directory structure, etc).
Sometimes I need to recreate the build server environment on my local development system to debug the build or what have you, so I usually end up downloading an entirely new working copy into a new workspace and running the build from there (prevents cluttering my development workspace with all the build artifacts and dirtying up the working copy). Of course sometimes I'm interested in running the full build on code that I don't want to check in yet, so I will manually copy over the "development" workspace onto the "build" workspace. Besides taking a lot of extra time copying a lot of files that I don't actually need (just overlaying the new over the old), this also screws up my svn metadata, meaning that I can't check in changes from that "build workspace" working copy, and I often end up having to re-download the code to get it back into a known state.
So I'm thinking I make my svn working copy a local git repo, then "check out" the in-development code from the svn working copy/git master, into the local build workspace. Then I can build, revert my changes, have all the advantages of a version controlled working copy in the build workspace. Then if I need to make changes to the build, push those back into the git master (which is also a svn working copy), then check them into the main svn repo.
|-------------|
|main svn repo| <------- |---------------------|
|-------------| |svn working copy | <------- |--------------------|
| (svn dev workspace/ | | non-svn-versioned |
| git master) | | build workspace |
|---------------------| | (git working copy) |
|--------------------|
Just switching everything to git would obviously be better, but, big company, too many people using svn, too costly to change everything, etc. We're stuck with svn as the main repo for now.
BTW, I know there is a maven plugin for Eclipse and everything, I'm mainly interested to know if there is a way to maintain a workspace that is both a git working copy and an svn working copy. Actually any distributed version control system would probably work (hg possibly?). Advice? How does everybody else handle this situation of having a to manage both a "development" build process and a "production" build process?
I am trying to write a function to get a string from the uart1. Its for an embedded system so I don't want to use malloc.
The pointer that is passed to the getstring function seems to point to garbage after the gets_e_uart1() is called. I don't use pointers too often so I'm sure it is something really stupid and trivial that Im doing wrong.
Regards,
V
int main()
{
char *ptr = 0;
while(1)
{
gets_e_uart1(ptr, 100);
puts_uart1(ptr);
}
return 0;
}*end main*/
//-------------------------------------------------------------------------
//gets a string and echos it
//returns 0 if there is no error
char getstring_e_uart1(char *stringPtr_, const int SIZE_)
{
char buffer_[SIZE_];
stringPtr_ = buffer_;
int start_ = 0, end_ = SIZE_ - 1;
char errorflag = 0;
/*keep geting chars until newline char recieved*/
while((buffer_[start_++] = getchar_uart1())!= 0x0D)
{
putchar_uart1(buffer_[start_]);//echo it
/*check for end of buffer
wraparound if neccesary*/
if(start_ == end_)
{
start_ = 0;
errorflag = 1;
}
}
putchar_uart1('\n');
putchar_uart1('\r');
/*check for end of buffer
wraparound if neccesary*/
if(start_ == end_)
{
buffer_[0] = '\0';
errorflag = 1;
}
else
{
buffer_[start_++] = '\0';
}
return errorflag;
}
Update:
I decided to go with approach of passing a pointer an array to the function. This works nicely, thanks to everyone for the informative answers.
Updated Code:
//-------------------------------------------------------------------------
//argument 1 should be a pointer to an array,
//and the second argument should be the size of the array
//gets a string and echos it
//returns 0 if there is no error
char getstring_e_uart1(char *stringPtr_, const int SIZE_)
{
char *startPtr_ = stringPtr_;
char *endPtr_ = startPtr_ + (SIZE_ - 1);
char errorflag = 0;
/*keep geting chars until newline char recieved*/
while((*stringPtr_ = getchar_uart1())!= 0x0D)
{
putchar_uart1(*stringPtr_);//echo it
stringPtr_++;
/*check for end of buffer
wraparound if neccesary*/
if(stringPtr_ == endPtr_)
{
stringPtr_ = startPtr_;
errorflag = 1;
}
}
putchar_uart1('\n');
putchar_uart1('\r');
/*check for end of buffer
wraparound if neccesary*/
if(stringPtr_ == endPtr_)
{
stringPtr_ = startPtr_;
*stringPtr_ = '\0';
errorflag = 1;
}
else
{
*stringPtr_ = '\0';
}
return errorflag;
}
I want to create a simple clock using Java. The code is so simple that I will give an example:
for(int i=0;i<=60;i++)
jLabel11.setText( Integer.toString(i) );
The problem is while I'm running my program the result didn't show each update in sequence.
It show only the 60 digit immediately, without showing the change from 1 to 2 to 3 ...
How can i fix this problem?
Hi there,
I am in need of reorganizing a large CSV file. The first column, which is currently a 6 digit number needs to be split up, using comma's as the field separator.
For example, I need this:
022250,10:50 AM,274,22,50
022255,11:55 AM,275,22,55
turned into this:
0,2,2,2,5,0,10:50 AM,274,22,50
0,2,2,2,5,5,11:55 AM,275,22,55
Let me know what you think!
Thanks!
I have a legacy application that I inherited that passes a lot of XML around as Strings.
I often need the ability to check if a String will be valid XML. What is the fastest and least expensive way to check if a string is valid XML in .NET?
I'm working in .NET 3.5 and would most likely use this as an extension method (off of string) in this one project within the solution.
You need to use division and remainder by 10. Consider this example:
163 divided by 10 is 16 remainder 3
16 divided by 10 is 1 remainder 6
1 divided by 10 is 0 remainder 1
You'll notice the remainder is always the last digit of the number that's being divided. Now figure out a way to do this in C...
How do i do it in c Help :(
Does anyone know how to check in ASP.NET (C#) if Facebook is scraping a page? I'd like to be able to check on the server side if the "browser" hitting the page is actually Facebook (e.g. when it grabs details when a user is attempting to share a link).
In python 2.7, I have this function
from slacker import Slacker
def post_message(token, channel, message):
channel = '#{}'.format(channel)
slack = Slacker(token)
slack.chat.post_message(channel, message)
with mock and patch, I can check that the token is used in Slacker class
import unittest
from mock import patch
from slacker_cli import post_message
class TestMessage(unittest.TestCase):
@patch('slacker_cli.Slacker')
def test_post_message_use_token(self, mock_slacker):
token = 'aaa'
channel = 'channel_name'
message = 'message string'
post_message(token, channel, message)
mock_slacker.assert_called_with(token)
how I can check the string use in post_message ?
I try with
mock_slacker.chat.post_message.assert_called_with('#channel')
but I get
AssertionError: Expected call: post_message('#channel')
Not called

Some of the plugins I wrote (re)calculate various prices, and I used Math.Round to keep results accurate with the default 2 digit setting in CRM.
But I figured... what if a user decides to set his CRM to use a different precision?
So, I need to access the CRM settings programmatically, so that my functions can work with whatever setting the user chooses.
How would I go about accessing the General (and, possibly, other) CRM settings from my code?
