  • Virtualbox in Headless mode

    - by ask
I used the virtual machines in virtualbox in a "headless" mode instead of a GUI mode. what are the advantages of using it in a headless mode?? by headless does it mean that the server doesnt have a keyboard or monitor attached or does it mean that no window will "pop up" , denoting that it is ON(or any other status), when a virtual machine is worked with? what exactly does it mean? pls reply...

  • Monitoring for postbacks with PHP?

    - by Rebecca
Hi, I have a PHP page with content that my users can view. When this page receives a POST request from a certain external URL, I'd like to redirect the user to another page. The problems I'm' having are: How can I monitor the page for requests being sent in an efficient way? How can I actually redirect them since header() doesn't work. Thanks.

  • Detect when a new property is added to a Javascript object?

    - by UICodes
A simple example using a built-in javascript object: navigator.my_new_property = "some value"; //can we detect that this new property was added? I don't want to constantly poll the object to check for new properties. Is there some type of higher level setter for objects instead of explicitly stating the property to monitor? Again, I don't want to detect if the property value changed, but rather when a new property is added. Ideas? thanks

  • Can I get memory usage of processes running on the monitored server by newrelic REST API

    - by youlin
according to the newrelic faq https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/server/server-monitor-faq, The Server Monitoring agent can report Top 20 processes that are using significant memory or I/O and I can view the memory usage of the processes on the newrelic portal page. However, I do not find any clue about how to get this metrics by newrelic REST API (I can get the CPU usage of processes by REST API). Is it possible to do this?

  • How To Prevent Processes From Starting?

    - by Rob P.
I'm toying around with a very simplistic sort of process-monitor. Currently, it gets a list of the running processes and attempts to kill any process that is not white-listed. What I'm looking for is a way to prevent a process from starting that isn't on the white-list. If that's possible. My knowledge level in this area is pretty non-existent and my Google-fu only returns websites discussing Process.Start() :( Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Signs that a SQL statement is dangerous

    - by Matt
Hi, I want to develop a function in PHP that checks how dangerous a SQL statement is. When i say dangerous i mean, certain symbols, characters or strings that are used to get data from a database that the user shouldnt see. For example: SELECT * FROM users WHERE userId = '1' can be injected in several ways. Although i clean the params, i also want to monitor how safe the query is to run. Thanks in advance

    - by Saar
When the deubgger is attached to a process on remote server - What locations are searched for the pdb? In what order? (e.g. is it searched on the remote server (debuggee) or on the local client (deubger)) When I use the deubgger to manually load pdb file from specific location - is the deubbger looking for the file locally or is it the remote debugger monitor looking for the file on the? Is there any article that describes that process?

  • Script to parse emails for attachments

    - by Swanny
I am looking for a way to monitor a Linux mbox email account, when an email arrives I would like to download an attachment from the email and save the attachment (CSV file) so that it may be used by a PHP script. What would be the best way of going about this? I have looked at PHP's IMAP functions but this does not appear to be the most appropriate method when a simple bash script may be all that is required?

  • Ubuntu 12.04 KVM running Ubuntu 12.04 with linux-image-virtual crash on boot

    - by D.Mill
One of my VMs is stuck on "pause" in virsh. If I destroy and restart it, it will go to pause after a bit of time as "running". I can at best enter my username at login if I'm quick but it'll then shutdown. I don't know where to start with this so any help would be great!! I can access the VMs files via guestfish. the kern.log and syslog don't populate new lines. • xrandr shows two displays (LVDS1), but how can I use VGA1 only?

    - by Tom Fishman
    We're running Ubuntu 11 on this hardware: Foxconn R20-D2 Intel Atom D510 Intel NM10 Intel GMA 3150 Barebone There is no integrated display (it is a barebone box). I connected an external VGA to it. However xrandr shows two displays: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 4096 x 4096 LVDS1 connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 1024x768 60.0*+ 800x600 60.3 56.2 640x480 59.9 VGA1 connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 519mm x 324mm 1920x1200 60.0 + 1600x1200 60.0 1680x1050 60.0 1280x1024 76.0 75.0 72.0 60.0 1440x900 75.0 59.9 1152x864 75.0 1024x768 75.1 70.1 60.0* 832x624 74.6 800x600 72.2 75.0 60.3 640x480 72.8 75.0 66.7 60.0 720x400 70.1 But I don't have two displays. How can I get rid of LVDS1 and use only VGA1? The direct result is that I'm seeing a 1024x768 resolution on my VGA display, because the OS is using "mirror" mode which uses the lower resolution of the two. Turning off the mirror is not a solution. I want to fix it. Related logs: ... • Blank black screen with cursor after login -- RHEL5

    - by Sean O.
I have a RHEL 5 machine here which is a Dell Precision T3500. I'm an Ubuntu guy, but I'm having a heck of a time with this machine. After processing its first security update, we cannot log in via the gdm greeter. A new kernel was installed; then I installed the nVidia drivers for our Quadro NVS 295. I know the X configuration is valid because the gdm greeter does display; however, upon login all we can get is a blank, black screen with a cursor. I thought perhaps our python installation was corrupted but a reinstall via yum has not helped. I have searched & googled extensively for a potential fix for this and can find nothing. Below are outputs from uname, a tail of an error in /var/log/messages, and the Xorg.conf. Can anyone suggest a course of action? • Users loggin to 3Com switches authenticated by radius not getting admin priv and no access available

    - by 3D1L
Hi, Following the setup that I have for my Cisco devices, I got some basic level of functionality authenticating users that loggin to 3Com switches authenticated against a RADIUS server. Problem is that I can not get the user to obtain admin privileges. I'm using Microsoft's IAS service. According to 3Com documentation when configuring the access policy on IAS the value of 010600000003 have to be used to specify admin access level. That value have to be input in the Dial-in profile section: 010600000003 - indicates admin privileges 010600000002 - manager 010600000001 - monitor 010600000000 - visitor Here is the configuration on the switch: radius scheme system server-type standard primary authentication XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX accounting optional key authentication XXXXXX key accounting XXXXXX domain system scheme radius-scheme system local-user admin service-type ssh telnet terminal level 3 local-user manager service-type ssh telnet terminal level 2 local-user monitor service-type ssh telnet terminal level 1 The configuration is working with the IAS server because I can check user login events with the Eventviewer tool. • Synergy 1.4.2 Linux server, OSX client, Media/Function key mapping issues

    - by at165dB
I'm using an Apple bluetooth keybord to control my Linux synergy server. SSH tunneling, Mouse, Keyboard, and Copy&Paste all work. Linux sees all the media/app keys that are on top of the F# keys correctly. However if I press any of those keys while controlling my OSX client, nothing happens on the client. Running synergys with -d DEBUG1 I can see the following keycode info: Pressing the "dim monitor" key that also serves as F1 generates: new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyPress code=232, state=0x0010 new mask: 0x2000 If I press "fn" and the same key, I can see it sending what I'm assuming is an F1: event: KeyPress code=67, state=0x0010 onKeyDown id=61374 mask=0x2000 button=0x0043 send key down to "foo.cisco.com" id=61374, mask=0x2000, button=0x0043 new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyRelease code=67, state=0x0010 onKeyUp id=61374 mask=0x2000 button=0x0043 send key up to "foo.cisco.com" id=61374, mask=0x2000, button=0x0043 I'm guessing I need to tweak my synergy.conf so that the server sends keys that it currently isn't. I'm also not sure what I need to do to tweak the keys that it is sending, but are not working. Below are all the other keys I'm having issues with. Does anyone have any idea how I can enable their functionality? brighten monitor: new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyPress code=233, state=0x0010 new mask: 0x2000 expose: new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyPress code=128, state=0x0010 new mask: 0x2000 dashboard: new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyPress code=212, state=0x0010 new mask: 0x2000 dim keyboard: new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyPress code=237, state=0x0010 new mask: 0x2000 brighten keyboard: new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyPress code=238, state=0x0010 new mask: 0x2000 rewind: event: KeyPress code=173, state=0x0010 onKeyDown id=57521 mask=0x2000 button=0x00ad send key down to "foo.cisco.com" id=57521, mask=0x2000, button=0x00ad new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyRelease code=173, state=0x0010 onKeyUp id=57521 mask=0x2000 button=0x00ad send key up to "foo.cisco.com" id=57521, mask=0x2000, button=0x00ad play/pause: event: KeyPress code=172, state=0x0010 onKeyDown id=57523 mask=0x2000 button=0x00ac send key down to "foo.cisco.com" id=57523, mask=0x2000, button=0x00ac new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyRelease code=172, state=0x0010 onKeyUp id=57523 mask=0x2000 button=0x00ac send key up to "foo.cisco.com" id=57523, mask=0x2000, button=0x00ac fastforward: event: KeyPress code=171, state=0x0010 onKeyDown id=57520 mask=0x2000 button=0x00ab send key down to "foo.cisco.com" id=57520, mask=0x2000, button=0x00ab new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyRelease code=171, state=0x0010 onKeyUp id=57520 mask=0x2000 button=0x00ab send key up to "foo.cisco.com" id=57520, mask=0x2000, button=0x00ab mute: event: KeyPress code=121, state=0x0010 onKeyDown id=57517 mask=0x2000 button=0x0079 send key down to "foo.cisco.com" id=57517, mask=0x2000, button=0x0079 new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyRelease code=121, state=0x0010 onKeyUp id=57517 mask=0x2000 button=0x0079 send key up to "foo.cisco.com" id=57517, mask=0x2000, button=0x0079 volume down: onKeyDown id=57518 mask=0x2000 button=0x007a send key down to "foo.cisco.com" id=57518, mask=0x2000, button=0x007a new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyRelease code=122, state=0x0010 onKeyUp id=57518 mask=0x2000 button=0x007a send key up to "foo.cisco.com" id=57518, mask=0x2000, button=0x007a volume up: event: KeyPress code=123, state=0x0010 onKeyDown id=57519 mask=0x2000 button=0x007b send key down to "foo.cisco.com" id=57519, mask=0x2000, button=0x007b new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyRelease code=123, state=0x0010 onKeyUp id=57519 mask=0x2000 button=0x007b send key up to "foo.cisco.com" id=57519, mask=0x2000, button=0x007b eject: event: KeyPress code=169, state=0x0010 onKeyDown id=57345 mask=0x2000 button=0x00a9 send key down to "foo.cisco.com" id=57345, mask=0x2000, button=0x00a9 new mask: 0x2000 event: KeyRelease code=169, state=0x0010 onKeyUp id=57345 mask=0x2000 button=0x00a9 send key up to "foo.cisco.com" id=57345, mask=0x2000, button=0x00a9

  • rsyslogd not monitoring all files

    - by Tom O'Connor
So.. I've installed Logstash, and instead of using the logstash shipper (because it needs the JVM and is generally massive), I'm using rsyslogd with the following configuration. # Use traditional timestamp format $ActionFileDefaultTemplate RSYSLOG_TraditionalFileFormat $IncludeConfig /etc/rsyslog.d/*.conf # Provides kernel logging support (previously done by rklogd) $ModLoad imklog # Provides support for local system logging (e.g. via logger command) $ModLoad imuxsock # Log all kernel messages to the console. # Logging much else clutters up the screen. #kern.* /dev/console # Log anything (except mail) of level info or higher. # Don't log private authentication messages! *.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none;local6.none /var/log/messages # The authpriv file has restricted access. authpriv.* /var/log/secure # Log all the mail messages in one place. mail.* -/var/log/maillog # Log cron stuff cron.* /var/log/cron # Everybody gets emergency messages *.emerg * # Save news errors of level crit and higher in a special file. uucp, news.crit /var/log/spooler # Save boot messages also to boot.log local7.* /var/log/boot.log In /etc/rsyslog.d/logstash.conf there are 28 file monitor blocks using imfile $ModLoad imfile # Load the imfile input module $ModLoad imklog # for reading kernel log messages $ModLoad imuxsock # for reading local syslog messages $InputFileName /var/log/rabbitmq/startup_err $InputFileTag rmq-err: $InputFileStateFile state-rmq-err $InputFileFacility local6 $InputRunFileMonitor .... $InputFileName /var/log/some.other.custom.log $InputFileTag cust-log: $InputFileStateFile state-cust-log $InputFileFacility local6 $InputRunFileMonitor .... *.* @@10.90.0.110:5514 There are 28 InputFileMonitor blocks, each monitoring a different custom application logfile.. How can I fix this so that all the files are monitored?
