I found this PHP port of Markdown (see function doCodeBlocks()), but I don't want to use the entire Markdown file, I just want this one function. • python read utf8 text file problem

  I have a problem with python about reading and print utf8 text file. I have a test.txt in utf8 encoding without BOM. This file has two characters in it: ?? The first character "?" is Chinese and the second "?" is Japanese. Now, When I use Ulipad (a python editor) to run the following code to read the txt file, and print these two characters. import codecs infile = "C:\\test.txt" f = codecs.open(infile, "r", "utf-8") s = f.read() print(s) I got this error, "UnicodeEncodeError: 'cp950' codec can't encode character '\u58f0' in position 1: illegal multibyte sequence" I found it caused from the second character "?" . But when I use the same code to test in python default GUI IDLE, it works to print the two characters with no error. So, how can I fix the problem. My running environment is python 3.1 , windows xp traditional Chinese.

• Efficient JSON encoding for data that may be binary, but is often text

  I need to send a JSON packet across the wire with the contents of an arbitrary file. This may be a binary file (like a ZIP file), but most often it will be plain ASCII text. I'm currently using base64 encoding, which handles all files, but it increases the size of the data significantly - even if the file is ASCII to begin with. Is there a more efficient way I can encode the data, other than manually checking for any non-ASCII characters and then deciding whether or not to base64-encode it? I'm currently writing this in Python, but will probably need to do the same in Java, C# and C++, so an easily portable solution would be preferable.

• Multiple lines of text to a single map

  I've been trying to use Hadoop to send N amount of lines to a single mapping. I don't require for the lines to be split already. I've tried to use NLineInputFormat, however that sends N lines of text from the data to each mapper one line at a time [giving up after the Nth line]. I have tried to set the option and it only takes N lines of input sending it at 1 line at a time to each map: job.setInt("mapred.line.input.format.linespermap", 10); I've found a mailing list recommending me to override LineRecordReader::next, however that is not that simple, as that the internal data members are all private. I've just checked the source for NLineInputFormat and it hard codes LineReader, so overriding will not help. Also, btw I'm using Hadoop 0.18 for compatibility with the Amazon EC2 MapReduce.

  I am trying to automatically verify certain conventions, such as label/table column header text (Sentence Case, use of colons, etc). It would be nice if there was a way in FlexUnit, or other means, to Iterate over all views in the app Get all titles, labels, column headers Run some pattern checks and fail where needed. Does anyone have a suggestion on what the best way would be to achieve that? I suppose I could do this on a code level on the MXML files, but it would be nicer if it could be integrated into the overall unit test suits. Thanks for any suggestions

  I just tried a sample of retrieving and passing it to a textview. I am having some trouble wrapping my textview. The bottom part is not completely shown.   Hello, I am a newbi programmer and am having trouble with a measurement conversion program I am working on. What I would like to do is have several EditText boxes. When one is filled in and a calculate button is hit then the rest will be populated with a converted number. The part I am getting stuck on is outputting the answers to EditText widgets. ex: There are three EditText Widgets. a user inputs the number 6 into the first one (labeled inches) and presses calculate. I would like the next box to display .5 (labeled feet) and the last to display .1666 (this would be yards) .setText() apparently does not work to modify the text in an EditText any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I'm writing a Java TextComponent where the underlying document has some structure. It is very short, basically one line. I need to be able to override the response to inserting or deleting characters in some parts of the document. My initial approach was to implement javax.swing.text.Document, but this seems to involve developing many associated classes (Element, EditorKit, View) and there don't seem to be many examples or tutorials on how to do this. There are plenty on using the pre-defined implementations. Can anyone point me at tutorials or other aids for simple implementations of Document and what other classes I need to create to make this work.

  I'm writing a small shell script that needs to reverse the lines of a text file. Is there a standard filter command to do this sort of thing? My specific application is that I'm getting a list of Git commit identifiers, and I want to process them in reverse order: git log --pretty=oneline work...master | grep -v DEBUG: | cut -d' ' -f1 | reverse The best I've come up with is to implement reverse like this: ... | cat -b | sort -rn | cut -f2- This uses cat to number every line, then sort to sort them in descending numeric order (which ends up reversing the whole file), then cut to remove the unneeded line number. The above works for my application, but may fail in the general case because cat -b only numbers nonblank lines. Is there a better, more general way to do this?

What I want to know are the following: Is it a good idea to start requiring cellphones instead of emails now? How do I do it on my own website? And why is it accepted to give out your cell phone information freely? Do those big providers really pay per message to a gateway service?
