  Im trying to setup my rails server on OSX 10.8 but I can't get my rails server to run. - Currently Im using a Zend Server with mysql 5.1. - I also have istalled brew and brew mysql. - And I used: gem install mysql2 -- --srcdir=/usr/local/mysql/include --with-opt-include=/usr/local/mysql/include the server worked already but now, I always get this loadError below. • Using Linq to group a list of objects into a new grouped list of list of objects

  Hi, I don't know if this is possible in Linq but here goes... I have an object: public class User { public int UserID { get; set; } public string UserName { get; set; } public int GroupID { get; set; } } I return a list that may look like the following: List<User> userList = new List<User>(); userList.Add( new User { UserID = 1, UserName = "UserOne", GroupID = 1 } ); userList.Add( new User { UserID = 2, UserName = "UserTwo", GroupID = 1 } ); userList.Add( new User { UserID = 3, UserName = "UserThree", GroupID = 2 } ); userList.Add( new User { UserID = 4, UserName = "UserFour", GroupID = 1 } ); userList.Add( new User { UserID = 5, UserName = "UserFive", GroupID = 3 } ); userList.Add( new User { UserID = 6, UserName = "UserSix", GroupID = 3 } ); I want to be able to run a Linq query on the above list that groups all the users by GroupID. So the out pub will be a list of user lists that contains user (if that makes sense?). So the out put would be something like: GroupedUserList UserList UserID = 1, UserName = "UserOne", GroupID = 1 UserID = 2, UserName = "UserTwo", GroupID = 1 UserID = 4, UserName = "UserFour", GroupID = 1 UserList UserID = 3, UserName = "UserThree", GroupID = 2 UserList UserID = 5, UserName = "UserFive", GroupID = 3 UserID = 6, UserName = "UserSix", GroupID = 3 I've tried using the groupby linq clause but this seems to return a list of keys and its not grouped by correctly: var groupedCustomerList = userList.GroupBy( u => u.GroupID ).ToList(); Any help would be much appreciated.   I'm having difficulty getting OpenId authentication working with Authlogic. It appears that the problem arose with changes to the open_id_authentication plugin. From what I've read so far, one needs to switch from using gems to using plugins. Here's what I done thus far to get Authlogic-OpenID integration working: Removed relevant gems: authlogic authlogic-oid rack-openid ruby-openid * Installed, configured, and started the authlogic sample application (http://github.com/binarylogic/authlogic_example)--works as expected. I am using OSX 10.6.5 I have spent quite a while trying to find anyone else who has had this problem, and been unsuccessful. Do you have any idea why this might be happening?

Is using .Include to include all the users, and going through the UsersReference the best way to loop through all the users that are associated with the role? I noticed I could not do a foreach(User user in role.Users) but UsersReference seem to work, but is that how it's supposed to be done?   Its my first time to use web service in iOS. REST was my first choice and I use code igniter to form it. I'm a complete novice with programming and I'm trying to get started with this Ruby on Rails tutorial (http://ruby.railstutorial.org/ruby-on-rails-tutorial-book?version=3.2) I have been trying figure this out for about 7 hours now and since I don't have any hair left to pull out I'm turning to these hallowed pages. I have searched for solutions here again and again. System: Mac OS X 10.7.5 Leopard, Xcode 4.5.2 I installed homebrew and have updated it multiple times I used homebrew to install rvm and have updated it multiple times I installed git The standard ruby on the system (checking with $ ruby -v) is 1.8.7 My problem is that every time I try to use rvm to install a new version of Ruby ($ rvm install 1.9.3) I get the following error: Ruby (and needed base gems) for your selection will be installed shortly. I'd like to do a 'survey' of them to see what browsers our users are using, so that I can know what features I can use in future development. Is there a tool to parse and run statistics on user-agent strings, or a bunch of strings like this? Ideally, I'd like to see a hierarchical grouping of the stats. • Unselecting RadioButtons in Java Swing

  When displaying a group of JRadioButtons, initially none of them is selected (unless you programmatically enforce that). I would like to be able to put buttons back into that state even after the user already selected one, i.e., none of the buttons should be selected. However, using the usual suspects doesn't deliver the required effect: calling 'setSelected(false)' on each button doesn't work. Interestingly, it does work when the buttons are not put into a ButtonGroup - unfortunately, the latter is required for JRadioButtons to be mutually exclusive. Also, using the setSelected(ButtonModel, boolean) - method of javax.swing.ButtonGroup doesn't do what I want. I've put together a small program to demonstrate the effect: two radio buttons and a JButton. • Restore "lost" user after Active Directory removal?

  Is it possible to restore lost users after Active Directory unistallation ? (I forgot to switch users to local users) The computer run Windows Server 2008 R2 Entreprise, and all the registry linked to the user i want to restore seems to still be there, user's folder is still on the harddrive, and useraccount2 still show the user (But flagged as unknown user) Some folders still have rigts set to this lost user, and even the local default Admin account cannot open/delete the folder. (But the real problem here is to find how to recover users account, the folder can be deleted an other way) All users i want te restore was originaly local users, converted to domain users after Active Directory installation. I think that if i can change user's sid (choosing the sid manually) i'll be able to easily recover rights on folders Regards

But, in any case I could not find the image specified in the og:graph! MY QUESTIONS: https://developer.linkedin.com/documents/setting-display-tags-shares is saying one thing, and the personnel on the support forum is saying "over 300" Does anyone know What is the official minimum dimension of the image (both w and h)? Can an image be too large? Should I use the xmlns, should I not use xmlns or it doesn't matter? What are the maximum (and minimum) lengths for og:title and og:description tags? • Changing LDAP schema casts Confluence AD integration unoperable

  I have had our instance of Atlassian Confluence configured to be integrated with our Active Directory. In AD, all the users were being created under default Users folder in Active Directory Users and Computers. We have decided to introduce cleaner separation and have created an Organizational Units structure in AD. Under root we have created Managed OU, and under it - Users OU and all user accounts were moved under Users OU. Now I though that to let the Confluence AD integration engine "know" where to look for user accounts now, I only need to adjust the BaseDN and prepand it with ou=Managed so it is aware that it is looking for cn=Users but under ou=Managed. That didn't work. How should I adjust LDAP schema root in a client application for it to be able to look for users in OU that then in a default folder.

  Last night I gave a talk to the Portland Silverlight User Group. http://www.portlandsilverlight.net/Meetings/Details/15 And I survived (which you should have probably already figured out since you’re reading this post AND that’s what I titled it…) Really though it was a fantastic time and I had a lot of fun! I was a little nervous getting ready for it, but I’m always a little nervous getting ready for things. I had the game all written,  I knew the general flow for what the talk was going to be. I read over Scott Hanselman’s 11 Top Tips for a Successful Technical presentation (which has become something I do EVERY time I’m preparing for a talk). I gave myself a brief list of points I wanted to make sure I covered or worked into the talk. But then I was ready and I waited. I hate the waiting. It makes me nervous. Once I was up in front of the room though with my laptop open and some XNA code in front of me, my nerves go away. Then I’m ready. I know XNA, I love talking about XNA and I love sharing what I know and hearing questions that make me think. And hopefully that came through while I was talking. I had a freaking blast. The swag went quickly (and I was even able to hand out some XNA 2.0 books that have been around forever!) and the pizza was been gobbled down. I started the talk at about 6:10 and managed to cover a very brief intro to programming against the game loop (it’s a different concept and one that seems to trip a lot of people up getting started with game development) and then rolled into making a basic 2D game for Windows Phone 7 using XNA. And I finished the whole thing before 8:30. Wahoo! I’m planning on posting the source code and assets on my site so those should be coming soon. And to make things even better, they recorded the whole thing on video so everyone will get to see me pretend I can speak! Just wait till you hear the new song I wrote for this talk…

• Powershell script to append an extension to a file, input from CSV

  Hi All, All I need is to have an Excel list of file paths and use Powershell to append (not replace) the same extension on to each file. It should be very simple, right? The problem I'm seeing is that if I go input-csv -path myfile.csv | write-host I get the following output: @{FullName=C:\Users\jpalumbo\test\appendto.me} @{FullName=C:\Users\jpalumbo\test\append_list.csv} @{FullName=C:\Users\jpalumbo\test\leavemealone.txt} In other words it looks like it's outputting the CSV "formatting" as well. However if I just issue import-csv -path myfile.csv, the output is what I expect: FullName -------- C:\Users\jpalumbo\test\appendto.me C:\Users\jpalumbo\test\append_list.csv C:\Users\jpalumbo\test\leavemealone.txt Clearly there's no file called "@{FullName=C:\Users\jpalumbo\test\leavemealone.txt}" and a rename on that won't work, so I'm not sure how to best get this data out of the import-csv command, or whether to store it in an object, or what. • RoboCopy Log Files missing whitespace?

  So I'm working on a script to use RoboCopy to copy a bunch of files, and log what it's copied. It works reasonably well, except for the logfiles. They tend to look like this: C:\Users\Tech\Documents\desktop.initechscan1.jpgtechscan2.jpgtechscan3.jpgtechscan4.jpgtechscan5.jpgwsus.jpgwsus2.jpgC:\Users\Tech\Documents\My Music\C:\Users\Tech\Documents\My Pictures\C:\Users\Tech\Documents\My Videos\C:\Users\Tech\Documents\My Digital Editions\ As you can see, the log seems to be missing all whitespace and separators between entries. Is there something I can do to fix this? It's kind of frustrating. The commandline I'm using is this: C:\Users\Tech\Desktop>Robocopy.exe C:\Users\Tech\Documents c:\Temp /e /l /b /xj /xf ntuser.* desktop.ini *.lnk /np /njh /log:migratedfiles.txt /v I have the /l in there since I'm debugging, and it's the easiest way to keep from copying everything a million times.

  To implement reference counting we use an IUnknown-like interface and a smart pointer template class. The interface has implementation for all the reference-count methods, including Release(): void IUnknownLike::Release() { if( --refCount == 0 ) { delete this; } } The smart pointer template class has a copy constructor and an assignment operator both accepting raw pointers. So users can do the following: class Class : public IUnknownLike { }; void someFunction( CSmartPointer<Class> object ); //whatever function Class object; someFunction( &object ); and the program runs into undefined behavior - the object is created with reference count zero, the smart pointer is constructed and bumps it to one, then the function returns, smart pointer is destroyed, calls Release() which leads to delete of a stack-allocated variable. Users can as well do the following: struct COuter { //whatever else; Class inner;// IUnknownLike descendant }; COuter object; somefunction( &object.Inner ); and again an object not created with new is deleted. Undefined behavior at its best. Is there any way to change the IUnknownLike interface so that the user is forced to use new for creating all objects derived from IUnknownLike - both directly derived and indirectly derived (with classes in between the most derived and the base)?

  Is there any way to prevent users from launching and using remote desktop and to restrict it to only local admins or domain admins? The reason being is that we do not want users to remote desktop home, but at the same time we want it to be available to certain users like administrators or power users. Ideally there is a group policy that can be set to groups or users who have access to the remote desktop application from their machine. Clarifications: I need the machine to be able to still have remote desktop work, just only with a specific user or group. The point is that we allow certain users to use remote desktop and others to not have access to it. There are machines where there are multiple users, so we cant just block a whole machine or by IP. This needs to be done per a user account or login.

  I wish to set up a CPU-intensive time-important query service for users on the internet. A usage scenario is described below. Is cloud computing the right way to go for such an implementation? If so, what cloud vendor(s) cater to this type of application? I ask specifically, in terms of: 1) pricing 2) latency resulting from: - slow CPUs, instance creations, JIT compiles, etc.. - internal management and communication of processes inside the cloud (e.g. a queuing process and a calculation process) - communication between cloud and end user 3) ease of deployment A usage scenario I am expecting is: - A typical user sends a query (XML of size around 1K) once every 30 seconds on average. - Each query requires a numerical computation of average time 0.2 sec and max time 1 sec on a 1 GHz Pentium. The computation requires no data other than the query itself and is performed by the same piece of code each time. - The delay a user experiences between sending a query and receiving a response should be on average no more than 2 seconds and in general no more than 5 seconds. - A background save to a DB of the response should occur (not time critical) - There can be up to 30000 simultaneous users - i.e., on average 1000 queries a second, each requiring an average 0.2 sec calculation, so that would necessitate around 200 CPUs. Currently I'm look at GAE Java (for quicker deployment and less IT hassle) and EC2 (Speed and price optimization) as options. Where can I learn more about the right way to set ups such a system? past threads, different blogs, books, etc.. BTW, if my terminology is wrong or confusing, please let me know. I'd greatly appreciate any help.
