    I want to show terms and condition note on my website. I dont want to use text field and also dont want to use my whole page. I just want to display my text in selected area and want to use only vertical scroll-bar to go down and read all text.     "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" This is probably one of the most common run-time errors in .NET. Although the System.Exception has a stack trace, why does the exception not also show the name of the object reference field, or at least its type? Over the course of a year I spend hours sifting through stack traces (often in code I did not write), hoping there is a line number from a ".pdb" file, then finding the line in the code, and even then it is often not obvious which reference on the line was null. Having the name of the reference field would be very convenient. If System.ArgumentNullException instances can show the name of the method parameter ("Value cannot be null. Parameter name: value"), then surely System.NullReferenceException instances could include the name of the null field (or its containing collection).

    I have a simple script that will send out a bunch of emails but these take time to send and I want to show the user a scrolling window with the emails addresses as they are sent (or, a progress bar would be good too). I believe this is possible with the new User Interface Classes, but I can't get it to work. The documentation is kinda sparse. Specifically, the problem is that the GUI window that pops up appears blank until all the emails have been sent (the script ends) and then the text appears. This happens even if I call show(myapp) after every time I update the Label.

  • Using "Show values as" option in Excel 2007 pivot table when source is SSAS cube?

    I have an Excel 2007 pivot table showing "Year" across the top and "Month" down the side. What I am trying to do is represent the values as "% Difference" from the same month of the previous year. (Ex. If Jan-07 is $100,000 and Jan-08 is $120,000, I would like Jan-08 to show '20%'). However, every time I try to do this (using the "Show values as" tab of Value Field Settings) all of my numbers go to '#N/A'. Is there a way to do this using an Analysis Services cube as the data source? When I do this exact same thing using data on a different sheet as the data source for the pivot table, it works fine. Thanks in advance for any insight into this.

    Let's face it, programmers can be show-offs. I've seen a lot of code that was only done a particular way to prove how smart the person who wrote it was. What's the best example of pure show-off code you've seen (or been responsible for) in your time? For me, it'd have to be the guy who wrote FizzBuzz in one line on a whiteboard during a programming interview. Not really that impressive in the scheme of things, but completely unnecessary and pure, "look-what-I-can-do". I've lost the original code, but I think it was something like this (linebreaks for readability): Enumerable.Range(1,100).ToList().ForEach( n => Console.WriteLine( (n%3==0) ? (n%5==0) ? I've tried YAHOO.util.Dom.get('elementId').hide(), asked my co-workers, looked at the documentation, and searched Google, and I've found nothing helpful. From the documentation, it looks like this should work YAHOO.util.Dom.get('elementId').setStyle('display', 'none') but of course it does not. All I can think of is this, which sucks because then I'm not using a framework: document.getElementById('elementId').style.display = 'none';

If the row is not there, add it to the result with Amt = 0. For example: - PJ00001 have 2 rows of type 1,2 in 2012 -- OK.     I'm building what is essentially a web app. Every piece of data has to be fetched from a web API. So, every UITableView that I show takes some amount of time to fill with data and I'm struggling to find a good way to show the user a loading screen. Right now I'm popping up an action sheet, but that just seems a bit wrong. Ideally, I'd popup up a blank view over the tableview with "Loading..." on it, then fade it away when the data comes in, but I can't think of a way to do that in 8 places in my app without massive code duplication.

    I have a web application created with JSF and Tobago. The user types some date into a sheet and clicks a button (all within one sheet-row). Now my java class checks whether the data is correct or not. In case there are some problems, I would like to show up something like a messagebox containing the errormessage. I cannot use something like JDialog, since this would happen only server side. Every user independently of his location needs to get the message. I thought about setting the error information into a databean and having my jsp show up the message after reloading. But how can I achieve this? Is there something like a tag which can be used for this? Or can I use the "confirmation" facet for this? But how would I start it without having the user to do something? Thanks in advance!

  • Is there a non-blocking version of MessageBox.Show (or something like it)?

    Often you just want to notify the user that something has occurred, but there's really no need for any input from them. In this common scenario, I sometimes see code like this: MessageBox.Show("Something has occurred", "Something", MessageBoxButtons.OK); This code, as we all know, causes a little pop-up window to appear with only an OK button. Now here's the thing: this code blocks (the UI thread). But in the vast majority of cases, it seems to me, if you only have an OK button, there's very little need to block. (Isn't the purpose of blocking typically to receive some input from the user? And if the user's only choice is "OK," in this typical case, isn't blocking pretty pointless?) Obviously I could just write my own little form that does basically exactly what MessageBox.Show does, except that it returns nothing (no DialogResult) and doesn't block. But I was just wondering if something like this exists already that I didn't know about.

Given the above set of tables relating Users to Groups to Privileges, and then a set of Activities that can each require a Privilege to perform, how do you find out this: Show me all the Activities that can be performed by User X. That is: User X is a member of groups G and F; groups G and F correlate to privileges P, Q, R and S; show me all the activities that require privileges either P, Q, R or S. How do you do this?

  • What is the flag to show the nesting of views in a Mac app?

    I have just spet the last few hours trying to find the flag to use in Terminal to launch an app with the colored outlines around the various view elements to show how they are nested. I know that Matt Gemmell covered it during the Cocoa Face Off session of NSConference 2009 (at about the 13minute mark in the video). Unfortunately I can't actually read what he types and he doesn't speak the exact command. I know it has to be in the Apple docs somewhere but the search system is currently not being of any use. It looks like her just adds -showAllViews YES to the end of the command to open TextEdit but that command has no effect in 10.6.6. I have also tried every other capitalization I can think of as well as using view instead of views. Every command opens TextEdit just fine but doesn't show the colored outlines.

    I am trying to get a color to show up on screen just like the charging battery (shown here): After looking at the Apple Documentation on UIColor here, I have attempted using both colorWithHue:saturation:brightness:aplha: and colorWithRed:green:blue:alpha: to get a color to show up like that. For example when I use colorWithHue:.3 saturation:.84 brightness:1 alpha:.5 on a black background, it renders a color like this: or the colorWithRed:0 green:1 blue:0 alpha:.5 on a black background shows up like this: It doesn't have that translucent or glossy look to it. Is there a better method to use? Or do I just not have the values right? (I have tried many combinations)

    i have tested several UML applications for whether they could show composition relationships in the UML diagrams generated form the PHP source code or not, and the result is they can't. i know that this is a typical problem for PHP cause we don't declare a data type when we code, so it's difficult for the UML applications to know if an instance variable is a reference to an object or not. i also tested nWire with the same result. will there never be applications that could show us a complete map over all object relationships more than just inheritance? i think it's a pity that you can't have a good view over all the relationships for an application. cause when i use an open source solution, i always want to know how the objects are related to each other. maybe we could make comments for the instance variable telling the software that this is an reference to an object? but that would mean that the mapping software is using this solution. i feel its a pity nWire/visual paradigm can't give us a complete map:(
