  • Set Android Gallery widget to show specific starting image

    Hi all, I have a task where the user can select an image from a GridView representing a photo album, and from this I start a new activity which displays a Gallery widget to show the images of the photo album. However, I can't seem to get the Gallery widget to show the contents of the photo album with a given image as the starting point. Ideally I would like a Gallery#setStartingImage(int position) or something similar. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Best, Dalmazio

    I am currently saving viewstate of pages in cache. I can see that viewstate is rebinding values and controls on PostBack. It is working properly on postback. However, I need to recreate state on a non-post back page.The key i'm using for loading viewstate from cache is being passed in the querystring but I am unable to find a way to force viewstate to load on a non-post back page. Is there any way to force a load of viewstate on a Non-Postbacked Page?

  • Discover periodic patterns in a large data-set

    I have a large sequence of tuples on disk in the form (t1, k1) (t2, k2) ... (tn, kn) ti is a monotonically increasing timestamp and ki is a key (assume a fixed length string if needed). Neither ti nor ki are guaranteed to be unique. However, the number of unique tis and kis is huge (millions). n itself is very large (100 Million+) and the size of k (approx 500 bytes) makes it impossible to store everything in memory. I would like to find out periodic occurrences of keys in this sequence. For example, if I have the sequence (1, a) (2, b) (3, c) (4, b) (5, a) (6, b) (7, d) (8, b) (9, a) (10, b) The algorithm should emit (a, 4) and (b, 2). That is a occurs with a period of 4 and b occurs with a period of 2. If I build a hash of all keys and store the average of the difference between consecutive timestamps of each key and a std deviation of the same, I might be able to make a pass, and report only the ones that have an acceptable std deviation(ideally, 0). However, it requires one bucket per unique key, whereas in practice, I might have very few really periodic patterns. Any better ways?

    I normally use getter and setter methods on my objects and I am fine with testing them as mock objects in SimpleTest by manipulating them with code like: Mock::generate('MyObj'); $MockMyObj->setReturnValue('getPropName', 'value') However, I have recently started to use magic interceptors (__set() __get()) and access properties like so: $MyObj->propName = 'blah'; But I am having difficulty making a mock object have a particular property accessed by using that technique. So is there some special way of setting properties on MockObjects. I have tried doing: $MockMyObj->propName = 'test Value'; but this does not seem to work. Not sure if it is my test Subject, Mock, magic Interceptors, or SimpleTest that is causing the property to be unaccessable. Any advice welcome.

    In Magento I'm creating a custom module and would love to be able to filter automatically by the datetime column so that the intial grid listing shows only entities related to "todays" date. Here is my datetime column: $this->addColumn('ts', array( 'header' => $hlp->__('Activated'), 'align' => 'left', 'index' => 'ts', 'type' => 'datetime', 'width' => '160px', )); I'm think there should be a way for me to just add a filter to the collection like so: $now = Mage::getModel('core/date')->timestamp(time()); $dateTime = date('m/d/y h:i:s', $now); $collection = Mage::getModel('mymodule/items')->getCollection() ->addFieldToFilter('ts', $dateTime); But this doesn't work? Am I using the wrong filter? My "ts" field in the database is a "datetime" field, but the default magento "From: " - "To:" date range selectors don't use hours, minutes, seconds. Any ideas?     Hello, I have a SQL table with a whole load of records that look like this: | Date | Score | + -----------+-------+ | 01/01/2010 | 4 | | 02/01/2010 | 6 | | 03/01/2010 | 10 | ... | 16/03/2010 | 2 | I'm plotting this on a chart, so I get a nice line across the graph indicating score-over-time. Lovely. Now, what I need to do is include the average score on the chart, so we can see how that changes over time, so I can simply add this to the mix: SELECT YEAR(SCOREDATE) 'Year', MONTH(SCOREDATE) 'Month', MIN(SCORE) MinScore, AVG(SCORE) AverageScore, MAX(SCORE) MaxScore FROM SCORES GROUP BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) ORDER BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) That's no problem so far. The problem is, how can I easily calculate the percentiles at each time-period? I'm not sure that's the correct phrase. What I need in total is: A line on the chart for the score (easy) A line on the chart for the average (easy) A line on the chart showing the band that 95% of the scores occupy (stumped) It's the third one that I don't get. I need to calculate the 5% percentile figures, which I can do singly: SELECT MAX(SubQ.SCORE) FROM (SELECT TOP 45 PERCENT SCORE FROM SCORES WHERE YEAR(SCOREDATE) = 2010 AND MONTH(SCOREDATE) = 1 ORDER BY SCORE ASC) AS SubQ SELECT MIN(SubQ.SCORE) FROM (SELECT TOP 45 PERCENT SCORE FROM SCORES WHERE YEAR(SCOREDATE) = 2010 AND MONTH(SCOREDATE) = 1 ORDER BY SCORE DESC) AS SubQ But I can't work out how to get a table of all the months. | Date | Average | 45% | 55% | + -----------+---------+-----+-----+ | 01/01/2010 | 13 | 11 | 15 | | 02/01/2010 | 10 | 8 | 12 | | 03/01/2010 | 5 | 4 | 10 | ... | 16/03/2010 | 7 | 7 | 9 | At the moment I'm going to have to load this lot up into my app, and calculate the figures myself. Or run a larger number of individual queries and collate the results.

    In C++, I'm looking to implement an operator for selecting items in a list (of type B) based upon B being contained entirely within A. In the book "the logical design of digital computers" by Montgomery Phister jr (published 1958), p54, it says: F11 = A + ~B has two interesting and useful associations, neither of them having much to do with computer design. The first is the logical notation of implication... The second is notation of inclusion... This may be expressed by a familiar looking relation, B < A; or by the statement "B is included in A"; or by the boolean equation F11= A + ~B = 1. My initial implementation was in C. Callbacks were given to the list to use for such operations. An example being a list of ints, and a struct containting two ints, min and max, for selection purposes. There, selection would be based upon B = A-min && B <= A-max. Using C++ and templates, how would you approach this after having implemented a generic list in C using void pointers and callbacks? Is using < as an over-ridden operator for such purposes... <ugh> evil? </ugh> (or by using a class B for the selection criteria, implementing the comparison by overloading ?)

  • Can't set default value of string property to "" in the Xcode CoreData model designer

    I have an entity in my datamodel with a string property that is currently optional, and I'd like to convert this property to a required property with a default value of the empty string. As others have discovered, leaving the default value blank results in validation errors (since the designer interprets this as NULL), but trying '', "", or @"" as the default value results in those literal characters being interpreted as the default, rather than the empty zero-length string, as desired. I did find this thread on Google, however, apart from the solution being really ugly (model definition split between the .xcdatamodel and objc source), it also doesn't work for lightweight migrations because those migrations are done solely based on the .xcdatamodel files and the objc logic from your entity implementations isn't loaded. Is there any way to achieve this in the data model designer?

    In my JSF/Facelets application, I want to dynamically generate a breadcrumb trail from a list of page IDs using a custom tag: <foo:breadcrumbs trail="foo,bar,baz"/> This should generate something like: <h:commandLink action="foo" ... /> <h:commandLink action="bar" ... /> <!-- (etc.) --> My code looks something like this: <ui:repeat value="#{fn:split(trail, ',')}" var="key"> <h:commandLink action="#{key}" ... /> </ui:repeat> The problem with this code is that #{key} is interpreted as a method binding. However, I just want the string value of #{key} to be returned as the navigation outcome. How can I achieve this? The only thing I could think of was creating a dummy managed-bean that has an outcome field and an action handler, and invoke it like so: <h:commandLink action="#{dummy.click}" ...> <f:setPropertyActionListener target="#{dummy.outcome}" value="#{key}" /> </h:commandLink> with the dummy class defined like so: public class Dummy { private String outcome; public String click() { return outcome; } public void setOutcome(String outcome) { this.outcome = outcome; } public void getOutcome() { return outcome; } } That seems ugly though, and I don't know if it would work.

    Hello everyone, I am working on mobile/server security related project. I am now stuck in generating a Diffie-Hellman key agreement part. It works fine in server side program but it is not working in mobile side. Thus, I assume that it is not compactible with Android. I used the following class to get the parameters. It returns a comma-separated string of 3 values. The first number is the prime modulus P. The second number is the base generator G. The third number is bit size of the random exponent L. My question is is there anything wrong with the code or it is not compactible for android?What kind of changes should I do? Your suggestion and guidance would be very much help for me.   • Firefox fails to detect content type set by PHP

    Hi all, I want a php page to 'display' a pdf. Here is the code: <?php header("Content-type: application/pdf"); readfile('Reportage - Berlin.pdf'); //tried echo(readfile(...)) as well ?> Not very complicated I think, but somehow firefox cant detect that this is a pdf. This works in Safari but in firefox, i get a prompt to download the file, so i get like a pdftest.php file. I know im getting my file because if I rename the extension to pdf, i can open it. This seems too simple! am i missing something?

    Hi; sorry if I'm not clear, it's not really clear in my head too (especially after trying to find my way in other posts :p) What I'm willing to do is creating DataGrids in code, with zero to numerous columns containing a button, which will call one same function but with a "parameter" (different for each column). Here is what I got so far : DataGrid created in code DataTemplate defined in the xaml resources (with a button) DataGridTemplateColumn which uses the above DataTemplate Is it possible to bind the button's properties (in the DataTemplate), to the DataGridTemplateColumn properties (in my case, the column header would be ok), and how? Is there a way to get an access to the DataTemplate components (the button for example) in code, and modify their properties? Is it possible (and not hazardous) to create a DataTemplate in code? I declared mine in xaml because I found a post advising to do so instead of code. Thanks for your help.

    I am using vaadin in combination with navigator7 addon. In header and footer there are spacings between conponents That i would not have. I tried to remove the spacings using setSpacing(false) for header and footer component but it is not working probably becouse of the addon. So i tried to solve this using css.   • Flex AS3: ComboBox set visible to false doesn't hide

    I have a combobox in a view that receives information about application state changes, and then is supposed to show or hide it's children based on the whole application state. It receives state change messages, it traces the correct values, it does what it's supposed to do, however, it just doesn't seem to work. Essentially, all it needs to do is hide a combobox during one state, and show it again during another state.     I've been trying to select the User Defined Language programmatically unsuccessfully through various means, another problem is the files I need to apply the user defined language have no file extension, old DOS files; NPPM_SETCURRENTLANGTYPE (only enumerates built-in languages) Macros don't seem to sense changes with language selection, I was hoping to record a macro then trigger it with NPPExec. Notepad++ accepts only in-built languages for starting from the command line I can't select a UDL as the default language for a new document. ...and my attempts at overriding an in-built language seem to have failed. I've copied details from userDefinedLang.xml to langs.xml don't work. The highlighting doesn't change. Thanks for any help!!
