  • Easy to understand and interesting book on algorithms

    - by gasan
Please advise me a book on algorithms, that would be easier to read and understand than Cormen's book1. It may be not so big and deep in explanation. I even want it to not be that big, however it shouldn't contain misconceptions or errors or inaccuracies. It should be a some kind of pre-Cormen's book, that will help later to understand more sophisticated conceptions. A beginner book (but still worth to read). 1 Introduction to Algorithms by Thomas H. Cormen, Charles E. Leiserson, Ronald L. Rivest, and Clifford Stein

Most of my time on Friday 2 April was spent meeting with Rubicon, one of our Gold Partners based in Vienna. • SQL Excursions

    - by Grant Fritchey
Not everyone likes boats. Some people like hanging out, on dry land, maybe sipping a good wine. Interested in doing that AND learning some new stuff about SQL Server? Then you might want to check out SQL Excursions. Denny Cherry (blog|twitter), MVP and terribly sharp individual, has organized this new venture to supply small group training in combination with travel to interesting, and let's face it, comfortable, places. The first trip is already set for Napa Valley. The training will be by Denny and MVP, author, and all round great guy, Thomas LaRock (blog|twitter). Seats for this unique event are going fast. I'd suggest signing up soon. Oh, and did I forget to mention that Red Gate is sponsoring dinner at a fine restaurant? Well, consider it mentioned. Seriously, nice wine, great training, beautiful scenery, networking, all in one place. What are you waiting for?

  • New Content: Partner News and Workforce Management Special Report

    - by user462779
Two new bits of content available on Profit Online: Oracle partner Edgewater Ranzal worked with customer High Sierra Energy to integrate Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management solutions with Oracle E-Business Suite and simplify an increasingly complex financial reporting system. "They needed to eliminate the older processes where 80% of the time was spent on collecting data and only 20% on analyzing the data.” --Bob Sanders, business development manager, Edgewater Ranzal. In a special report about Workforce Management, Profit wraps up a collection of recent content on the subject and looks at Oracle's recent agreement to acquire SelectMinds. “By adding SelectMinds to Oracle’s Talent Management Cloud, Oracle can help customers with a complete talent management solution, enabling streamlined recruiting practices, more quality referrals, faster employee on-boarding, and better performance.” --Thomas Kurian, Executive Vice President, Oracle Development More updates to come as we continue to add content to Profit Online on a regular basis. • Grabbing all <a> tags in a specific div and displaying them

    - by Taylor Swyter
So I'v got a small problem with my portfolio site (you can see it at here) When you click on a portfolio piece, a top section opens up to reveal the details (Title, year, role, description) as well as the photos. I'v been able to get each project to replace all the text data, but I can't seem to get the images to load into the thumbnails. I have been able to get the last image i'm looking for in all of the images on the site, but not display each photo for each project. Here's the HTML i'm working with: <section id="details"> <div class="pagewrapper"> <section id="main-img"> <article id="big-img"> <img src="" alt="big-img" /> </article> <article class="small-img-container"> <a href="#"><img src="#" alt="smallimg" class="small-img" /></a> </article> </section> <section id="description"> <h3></h3> <h4></h4> <h5></h5> <p></p> </section> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </section> <section id="portfolio"> <div class="pagewrapper"> <h2 class="sectionTitle">Portfolio</h2> <div class="thumb"> <a class="small" href="#" title="David Lockwood Music" data-year="2010" data-role="Sole Wordpress Developer" data-description="David Lockwood is a musician and an educator based in New Hampshire who came to me needing a website for his musical career. • Coupling/Cohesion

    - by user559142
Hi All, Whilst there are many good examples on this forum that contain examples of coupling and cohesion, I am struggling to apply it to my code fully. I can identify parts in my code that may need changing. Would any Java experts be able to take a look at my code and explain to me what aspects are good and bad. Here is the latest in my link-listing series.  Also check out my Best of 2010 Summary for links to 100+ other posts I’ve done in the last year. [I am also now using Twitter for quick updates and to share links. Follow me at: twitter.com/scottgu] ASP.NET Introducing new ASP.NET Universal Providers: Great post from Scott Hanselman on the new System.Web.Providers we are working on.  This release delivers new ASP.NET Membership, Role Management, Session, Profile providers that work with SQL Server, SQL CE and SQL Azure.
