  • How to get Media Picker Field via proxy record of many-to-many in orchard

    - by Sergey Schipanov
    I need to access mediapickerfield in Widget view. This field is relative to 'ActionPart'. I have a problem, when I create many-to-many relationships to display my 'ActionPart' in the widget. When I mapped many-to-many I take an 'ActionPart' and but cannot access the mediapickerfield. • Facelet components layouts and javascript

    - by Java Drinker
    Hi all, I have a question regarding the placement of javascript within facelet components. This is more regarding best practice/style than a programming issue, but I feel like all the solutions I have thought of have been hacks at best. Ok here is my scenario: I have a facelet template like so (my faces, and apache Trinidad)... <ui:composition> <f:view locale="#{myLocale}"> <ui:insert name="messageBundles" /><!--Here we add load bundle tags--> <tr:document mode="strict" styleClass="coolStyleDoc"> <f:facet name="metaContainer"> <!--This trinidad defined facet is added to HTML head--> <tr:group> <!-- blah bal my own styles and js common to all --> <ui:insert name="metaData" /> </tr:group> </f:facet> <tr:form usesUpload="#{empty usesUpload ? 'false' : usesUpload}"> <div id="formTemplateHeader"> <ui:insert name="contentHeader" /> </div> <div id="formTemplateContentContainer"> <div id="formTemplateContent"> <ui:insert name="contentBody" /> </div> </div> <div id="formTemplateFooter"> <ui:insert name="contentFooter"> </ui:insert> </div> </tr:form> <!-- etc...---> Now, a facelet that wants to use this template would look like the following: <ui:composition template="/path/to/my/template.jspx"> <ui:define name="bundles"> <custom:loadBundle basename="messagesStuff" var="bundle" /> </ui:define> <ui:define name="metaData"> <script> <!-- cool javascript stuff goes here--> </script> </ui:define> <ui:define name="contentHeader"> <!-- MY HEADING!--> </ui:define> <ui:define name="contentBody"> <!-- MY Body!--> </ui:define> <ui:define name="contentFooter"> <!-- Copyright/footer stuff!--> </ui:define> </ui:composition> All this works quite well, but the problem I have is when I want to use a facelet component inside this page. If the facelet component has its own javascript code (jQuery stuff etc), how can I make it so that that javascript code is included in the header section of the generated html? Any help would be appreciated. Please let me know if this is not clear or something... thanks in advance

  • Why doesn't the default model binder update my partial view model on postback?

    - by bdnewbe
    I have a class that contains another class as one of its properties. public class SiteProperties { public SiteProperties() { DropFontFamily = "Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif"; } public string DropFontFamily { get; set; } private ResultPageProperties m_ResultPagePropertyList; public ResultPageProperties ResultPagePropertyList { get { if (m_ResultPagePropertyList == null) m_ResultPagePropertyList = new ResultPageProperties(); return m_ResultPagePropertyList; } set { m_ResultPagePropertyList = value; } } } The second class has just one property public class ResultPageProperties { public ResultPageProperties() { ResultFontFamily = "Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif"; } public string ResultFontFamily { get; set; } } My controller just grabs the SiteProperties and returns the view. On submit, it accepts SiteProperties and returns the same view. public class CompanyController : Controller { public ActionResult SiteOptions(int id) { SiteProperties site = new SiteProperties(); PopulateProperyDropDownLists(); return View("SiteOptions", site); } [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult SiteOptions(SiteProperties properties) { PopulateProperyDropDownLists(); return View("SiteOptions", properties); } private void PopulateProperyDropDownLists() { var fontFamilyList = new List<SelectListItem>(); fontFamilyList.Add(new SelectListItem() { Text = "Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif", Value = "Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif" }); fontFamilyList.Add(new SelectListItem() { Text = "Times New Roman, Times, serif", Value = "Times New Roman, Times, serif" }); fontFamilyList.Add(new SelectListItem() { Text = "Courier New, Courier, Monospace", Value = "Courier New, Courier, Monospace" }); ViewData["FontFamilyList"] = fontFamilyList; } } The view contains a partial view that renders the ResultPageProperties Model. <% using (Html.BeginForm("SiteOptions", "Company", FormMethod.Post)) {%> <p><input type="submit" value="Submit" /></p> <div>View level input</div> <div> <label>Font family</label><br /> <%= Html.DropDownListFor(m => m.DropFontFamily, ViewData["FontFamilyList"] as List<SelectListItem>, new { Class = "UpdatesDropDownExample" })%> </div> <% Html.RenderPartial("ResultPagePropertyInput", Model.ResultPagePropertyList); %> <% } %> The partial is just <div style='margin-top: 1em;'>View level input</div> <div> <label>Font family</label><br /> <%= Html.DropDownListFor(m => m.ResultFontFamily, ViewData["FontFamilyList"] as List<SelectListItem>, new { Class = "UpdatesResultPageExample" })%> </div> OK, so when the page renders, you get "Arial, ..." in both selects. If you choose another option for both and click submit, the binder populates the SiteProperties object and passes it to the controller. However, the ResultFontFamily always contains the original value. I was expecting it to have the value the user selected. What am I missing?

  • jQuery - Need help stopping animation on click command.

    - by iamtheratio
    With a few of your help I was able to get the jquery I wanted to work flawlessly, except for one thing.. the animation doesn't stop when i click on the buttons. Scenario: I have an Image, and 3 buttons underneath labeled "1","2", and "3". The jquery will automate the click function every 4500ms and switch from 1 to 2, then 2 to 3 and continuously loop. However the problem is, if I manually click on a 1,2,3 button the animation does not stop. Any ideas how I could accomplish this? jQuery: var tabs; var len; var index = 1; var robot; function automate() { tabs.eq((index%len)).trigger('click'); index++; } robot = setInterval(automate, 5500); jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery(".imgs").hide(); jQuery(".img_selection a").click(function(){ stringref = this.href.split('#')[1]; $(".img_selection a[id$=_on]").removeAttr('id'); this.id = this.className + "_on"; jQuery('.imgs').hide(); if (jQuery.browser.msie && jQuery.browser.version.substr(0,3) == "6.0") { jQuery('.imgs#' + stringref).show(); } else jQuery('.imgs#' + stringref).fadeIn(); return false; }); $('.img_selection a').removeAttr('id').eq(0).trigger('click'); tabs = jQuery(".img_selection a"); len = tabs.size(); }); I tried adding the below code, with a lot of help from this website, but to no avail.. CODE: jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery(".imgs").hide().click(function(){ clearInterval(robot); }); HTML: <!-- TOP IMAGE ROTATION --> <div id="upper_image"> <div id="img1" class="imgs"> <p><img src="images/top_image.jpg" width="900" height="250" alt="The Ratio - Print Projects!" border="0" /></p> </div> <div id="img2" class="imgs"> <p><img src="images/top_image2.jpg" width="900" height="250" alt="The Ratio - In The Works!" border="0" /></p> </div> <div id="img3" class="imgs"> <p><img src="images/top_image3.jpg" width="900" height="250" alt="The Ratio!" border="0" /></p> </div> </div> <!-- / TOP IMAGE ROTATION --> <!-- TOP IMAGE SELECTION --> <ul class="img_selection"> <li><a id="img1_on" class="img1" href="#img1">1</a></li> <li><a class="img2" href="#img2">2</a></li> <li><a class="img3" href="#img3">3</a></li> </ul> <!-- / TOP IMAGE SELECTION -->

  • Sidebar with CSS3 transform

    - by Malcoda
    Goal I'm working on a collapsible sidebar using jQuery for animation. I would like to have vertical text on the sidebar that acts as a label and can swap on the animateOut/animateIn effect. Normally I would use an image of the text that I've simply swapped vertically, and switch it out on animation, but with CSS3 transforms I'd like to get it to work instead. Problem The problem I'm facing is that setting the height on my rotated container makes it expand horizontally (as it's rotated 90deg) so that doesn't work. I then tried to set the width (hoping it would expand vertically, acting as height), but that has an odd effect of causing the width of my parent container to expand as well. Fix? Anyone know why this happens and also what the fix/workaround could be without setting max-widths and overflow: hidden? I've got a fairly good understanding of both html elements behavior and css3, but this is stumping me. Live Example Here's a fiddle that demonstrates my problem: Fiddle The collapse-pane class is what I have rotated and contains the span I have my text inside. You'll notice it has a width set, that widens the border, but also affects the parent container. The code: CSS: .right-panel{ position:fixed; right:0; top:0; bottom:0; border:1px solid #ccc; background-color:#efefef; } .collapse-pane{ margin-top:50px; width:30px; border:1px solid #999; cursor:pointer; /* Safari */ -webkit-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Firefox */ -moz-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* IE */ -ms-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Opera */ -o-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Internet Explorer */ filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.BasicImage(rotation=3); } .collapse-pane span{ padding:5px; } HTML <div class="right-panel"> <div class="collapse-pane"> <span class="expand">Expand</span> </div> <div style="width:0;" class="panel-body"> <div style="display:none;" class="panel-body-inner"> adsfasdfasdf </div> </div> </div> JavaScript (Thought not really relevant) $(document).ready(function(){ var height = $(".right-panel").height(); $(".collapse-pane").css({marginTop: height/2 - 20}); $('.collapse-pane').click(function(){ if($(".collapse-pane span").html() == "Expand"){ $(".panel-body").animate({width:200}, 400); $(".panel-body-inner").fadeIn(500); $(".collapse-pane span").html("Collapse"); }else{ $(".panel-body").animate({width:00}, 400); $(".panel-body-inner").fadeOut(300); $(".collapse-pane span").html("Expand"); } }); }); I hope this was clear... Thanks for any help!

  • Ajax post not posting email address ?

    - by jeitjet
    UPDATE: It will not work in Firefox, but will work on any other browser. I even tried loading Firefox in safe mode (disabling all plugins, etc.) and still no worky. :( I'm trying to do an AJAX post (on form submission) to a separate PHP file, which works fine without trying to send an email address through the post. I'm fairly new to AJAX and pretty familiar with PHP. Here's my form and ajax call <form class="form" method="POST" name="settingsNotificationsForm"> <div class="clearfix"> <label>Email <em>*</em><small>A valid email address</small></label><input type="email" required="required" name="email" id="email" /> </div> <div class="clearfix"> <label>Email Notification<small>...when a new subscriber joins</small></label><input type="checkbox" name="subscribe_notifications" id="subscribe_notifications"> Receive an email notification with phone number when someone new subscribes to 'BIZDEMO' </div> <div class="clearfix"> <label>Email Notification<small>...when a subscriber cancels</small></label><input type="checkbox" name="unsubscribe_notifications" id="unsubscribe_notifications"> Receive an email notification with phone number when someone new unsubscribes to 'BIZDEMO' </div> <div class="action clearfix top-margin"> <button class="button button-gray" type="submit" id="notifications_submit"><span class="accept"></span>Save</button> </div> </form> and AJAX call: <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function () { $("#notifications_submit").click(function() { var keyword_value = '<?php echo $keyword; ?>'; var email_address = $("input#email").val(); var subscribe_notifications_value = $("input#subscribe_notifications").attr('checked'); var unsubscribe_notifications_value = $("input#unsubscribe_notifications").attr('checked'); var data_values = { keyword : keyword_value, email : email_address, subscribe_notifications : subscribe_notifications_value, unsubscribe_notifications : unsubscribe_notifications_value }; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "../includes/ajax/update_settings.php", data: data_values, success: alert('Settings updated successfully!'), }); }); }); and receiving page: <?php include_once ("../db/db_connect.php"); $keyword = FILTER_INPUT(INPUT_POST, 'keyword' ,FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING); $email = FILTER_INPUT(INPUT_POST, 'email' ,FILTER_SANITIZE_EMAIL); $subscribe_notifications = FILTER_INPUT(INPUT_POST, 'subscribe_notifications' ,FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING); $unsubscribe_notifications = FILTER_INPUT(INPUT_POST, 'unsubscribe_notifications' ,FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING); $table = 'keyword_options'; $data_values = array('email' => $email, 'sub_notify' => $subscribe_notifications, 'unsub_notify' => $unsubscribe_notifications); foreach ($data_values as $name=>$value) { // See if keyword is already in database table $filter = array('keyword' => $keyword); $result = $db->find($table, $filter); if (count($result) > 0 && $new != true) { $where = array('keyword' => $keyword, 'keyword_meta' => $name); $data = array('keyword_value' => $value); $db->update($table, $where, $data); } else { $data = array('keyword' => $keyword, 'keyword_meta' => $name, 'keyword_value' => $value); $db->create($table, $data); $new = true; // If this is a new record, always go to else statement } } unset($value); Here are some weird things that happen: When I only enter text into the email field, (i.e. - abc), it works fine, posts correctly, etc. When I enter a bogus email address with the "." before the "@", it works fine When I enter a validated email address (with the "." after the "@"), the post fails. Ideas?

  • How to force a page refresh or reload in jQuery?

    - by TimMac
    The code below displays a google map and search results when you enter an address and hit the submit button. I've been playing with it to try and force the page to completely refresh or reload once you hit the submit button. But I can't get it to work right. It loads the results "in page," but I'd like the page to completely refresh when the results load, like when you hit the back button on your browser. Hope that makes sense. I think the answer lies in this line of code but I don't know jquery very well. It's near the bottom of the full code below. <script type="text/javascript"> (function($) { $(document).ready(function() { load();'; Here's the full code below. Any help would be greatly appreciated! <?php /* SimpleMap Plugin display-map.php: Displays the Google Map and search results */ $to_display = ''; if ($options['display_search'] == 'show') { $to_display .= ' <div id="map_search" style="width: '.$options['map_width'].';"> <a name="map_top"></a> <form onsubmit="searchLocations(\''.$categories.'\'); return false;" name="searchForm" id="searchForm" action="http://'.$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'].'"> <input type="text" id="addressInput" name="addressInput" class="address" />&nbsp; <select name="radiusSelect" id="radiusSelect">'; $default_radius = $options['default_radius']; unset($selected_radius); $selected_radius[$default_radius] = ' selected="selected"'; foreach ($search_radii as $value) { $r = (int)$value; $to_display .= '<option valu e="'.$value.'"'.$selected_radius[$r].'>'.$value.' • Partial view is not rendering within the main view it's contained (instead it's rendered in it's own page)?

    - by JaJ
    I have a partial view that is contained in a simple index view. When I try to add a new object to my model and update my partial view to display that new object along with existing objects the partial view is rendered outside the page that it's contained? I'm using AJAX to update the partial view but what is wrong with the following code? Model: public class Product { public int ID { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } [DataType(DataType.Currency)] public decimal Price { get; set; } } public class BoringStoreContext { List<Product> results = new List<Product>(); public BoringStoreContext() { Products = new List<Product>(); Products.Add(new Product() { ID = 1, Name = "Sure", Price = (decimal)(1.10) }); Products.Add(new Product() { ID = 2, Name = "Sure2", Price = (decimal)(2.10) }); } public List<Product> Products {get; set;} } public class ProductIndexViewModel { public Product NewProduct { get; set; } public IEnumerable<Product> Products { get; set; } } Index.cshtml View: @model AjaxPartialPageUpdates.Models.ProductIndexViewModel @using (Ajax.BeginForm("Index_AddItem", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "productList" })) { <div> @Html.LabelFor(model => model.NewProduct.Name) @Html.EditorFor(model => model.NewProduct.Name) </div> <div> @Html.LabelFor(model => model.NewProduct.Price) @Html.EditorFor(model => model.NewProduct.Price) </div> <div> <input type="submit" value="Add Product" /> </div> } <div id='productList'> @{ Html.RenderPartial("ProductListControl", Model.Products); } </div> ProductListControl.cshtml Partial View @model IEnumerable<AjaxPartialPageUpdates.Models.Product> <table> <!-- Render the table headers. --> <tr> <th>Name</th> <th>Price</th> </tr> <!-- Render the name and price of each product. --> @foreach (var item in Model) { <tr> <td>@Html.DisplayFor(model => item.Name)</td> <td>@Html.DisplayFor(model => item.Price)</td> </tr> } </table> Controller: public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { BoringStoreContext db = new BoringStoreContext(); ProductIndexViewModel viewModel = new ProductIndexViewModel { NewProduct = new Product(), Products = db.Products }; return View(viewModel); } public ActionResult Index_AddItem(ProductIndexViewModel viewModel) { BoringStoreContext db = new BoringStoreContext(); db.Products.Add(viewModel.NewProduct); return PartialView("ProductListControl", db.Products); } }

  • Adding Another Parameter to my Custom jQuery Gallery

    - by steve
    My website currently uses a custom jQuery gallery system that I've developed... it works well, but I want to add one capability that I can't seem to figure out. • jQuery Treeview – Expand and Collapse All Without the TreeControl

    - by Ben Griswold
    The jQuery Treeview Plugin provides collapse all, expand all and toggle all support with very little effort on your part. Simply add a treecontrol with three links, and the treeview, to your page…   <div id="treecontrol">     <a title="Collapse the entire tree below" href="#"><img src="../images/minus.gif" /> Collapse All</a>     <a title="Expand the entire tree below" href="#"><img src="../images/plus.gif" /> Expand All</a>     <a title="Toggle the tree below, opening closed branches, closing open branches" href="#">Toggle All</a> </div> <ul id="treeview" class="treeview-black">     <li>Item 1</li>     <li>         <span>Item 2</span>         <ul>             <li>                 <span>Item 2.1</span>                   <ul>                     <li>Item 2.1.1</li>                     <li>Item 2.1.2</li>                 </ul>             </li>             <li>Item 2.2</li>             <li class="closed">                   <span>Item 2.3 (closed at start)</span>                 <ul>                     <li>Item 2.3.1</li>                     <li>Item 2.3.2</li>                 </ul>             </li>         </ul>     </li> </ul> …and then associate the control to the treeview when defining the treeview settings. $("#treeview").treeview({     control: "#treecontrol",     persist: "cookie",     cookieId: "treeview-black" }); It really couldn’t be easier and it works great! But the plugin doesn’t offer a lot of flexibility when it comes to layout.  For example, the plugin assumes your treecontrol will include links.  If you want buttons or images or whatever, you are out of luck.  The plugin also assumes a set number of links and the collapse all handler is associated with the first link inside of the treecontrol, a:eq(0), the expand all handler is associated with the second link and so on.  So you really can’t incorporate the toggle all link by itself unless you manually hide the other options. Which brings me to the point of this post – making the collapse/expand/toggle layout more flexible without modifying the plugin’s source code. We will continue to use the treecontrol actions but we’re not going to use them directly. In fact, our custom collapse, expand and toggle links will trigger the actions for us.  So, hide the treecontrol links and associate the treecontrol click events with the click events of other controls.  Finally, render the treeview with the same setting definitions as usual. $(document).ready(function() {     // The plugin shows the treecontrol after the     // collapse, expand and toggle events are hooked up     // Just hide the links.     $('#treecontrol a').hide();       // On click of your custom links, button, etc     // Trigger the appropriate treecontrol click     $('#expandAll').click(function() {                 $('#treecontrol a:eq(1)').click();         });          $('#collapseAll').click(function() {         $('#treecontrol a:eq(0)').click();             });       // Render the treeview per usual.         $("#treeview").treeview({         control: "#treecontrol",         persist: "cookie",         cookieId: "treeview-black"     }); }); Since I’m not using the treecontrol directly, I move it to the bottom of the page but it doesn’t really matter where the treecontrol goes. <div>     <a id="collapseAll" href="#">Collapse All Outside of TreeControl</a> </div>   <ul id="treeview" class="treeview-black">     <li>Item 1</li>     <li>         <span>Item 2</span>         <ul>             <li>                 <span>Item 2.1</span>                 <ul>                     <li>Item 2.1.1</li>                     <li>Item 2.1.2</li>                 </ul>             </li>             <li>Item 2.2</li>             <li class="closed">                 <span>Item 2.3 (closed at start)</span>                 <ul>                     <li>Item 2.3.1</li>                     <li>Item 2.3.2</li>                 </ul>             </li>         </ul>     </li> </ul>   <div>     <input type="button" id="expandAll" value="Expand All Outside of TreeControl"/> </div>   <div id="treecontrol">     <a href="#"></a><a href="#"></a><a href="#"></a> </div> The above jQuery and Html snippets generate the following ugly output which shows the separated collapse/expand elements. If you want the toggle all option, I bet you can figure out how to put it in place.  I’ve made the source available below if you’re interested. • ASP.NET 4.0- Html Encoded Expressions

    - by Jalpesh P. Vadgama
    We all know <%=expression%> features in asp.net. We can print any string on page from there. Mostly we are using them in asp.net mvc. Now we have one new features with asp.net 4.0 that we have HTML Encoded Expressions and this prevent Cross scripting attack as we are html encoding them. ASP.NET 4.0 introduces a new expression syntax <%: expression %> which automatically convert string into html encoded. Let’s take an example for that. I have just created an hello word protected method which will return a simple string which contains characters that needed to be HTML Encoded. Below is code for that. protected static string HelloWorld() { return "Hello World!!! returns from function()!!!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>"; } Now let’s use the that hello world in our page html like below. I am going to use both expression to give you exact difference. <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <strong><%: HelloWorld()%></strong> </div> <div> <strong><%= HelloWorld()%></strong> </div> </form> Now let’s run the application and you can see in browser both look similar. But when look into page source html in browser like below you can clearly see one is HTML Encoded and another one is not. That’s it.. It’s cool.. Stay tuned for more.. • A Closable jQuery Plug-in

    - by Rick Strahl
    In my client side development I deal a lot with content that pops over the main page. Be it data entry ‘windows’ or dialogs or simple pop up notes. In most cases this behavior goes with draggable windows, but sometimes it’s also useful to have closable behavior on static page content that the user can choose to hide or otherwise make invisible or fade out. Here’s a small jQuery plug-in that provides .closable() behavior to most elements by using either an image that is provided or – more appropriately by using a CSS class to define the picture box layout. /* * * Closable * * Makes selected DOM elements closable by making them * invisible when close icon is clicked * * Version 1.01 * @requires jQuery v1.3 or later * * Copyright (c) 2007-2010 Rick Strahl * http://www.west-wind.com/ * * Licensed under the MIT license: * http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php Support CSS: .closebox { position: absolute; right: 4px; top: 4px; background-image: url(images/close.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; width: 14px; height: 14px; cursor: pointer; opacity: 0.60; filter: alpha(opacity="80"); } .closebox:hover { opacity: 0.95; filter: alpha(opacity="100"); } Options: * handle Element to place closebox into (like say a header). Use if main element and closebox container are two different elements. * closeHandler Function called when the close box is clicked. Return true to close the box return false to keep it visible. * cssClass The CSS class to apply to the close box DIV or IMG tag. * imageUrl Allows you to specify an explicit IMG url that displays the close icon. If used bypasses CSS image styling. * fadeOut Optional provide fadeOut speed. Default no fade out occurs */ (function ($) { $.fn.closable = function (options) { var opt = { handle: null, closeHandler: null, cssClass: "closebox", imageUrl: null, fadeOut: null }; $.extend(opt, options); return this.each(function (i) { var el = $(this); var pos = el.css("position"); if (!pos || pos == "static") el.css("position", "relative"); var h = opt.handle ? $(opt.handle).css({ position: "relative" }) : el; var div = opt.imageUrl ? $("<img>").attr("src", opt.imageUrl).css("cursor", "pointer") : $("<div>"); div.addClass(opt.cssClass) .click(function (e) { if (opt.closeHandler) if (!opt.closeHandler.call(this, e)) return; if (opt.fadeOut) $(el).fadeOut(opt.fadeOut); else $(el).hide(); }); if (opt.imageUrl) div.css("background-image", "none"); h.append(div); }); } })(jQuery); The plugin can be applied against any selector that is a container (typically a div tag). The close image or close box is provided typically by way of a CssClass - .closebox by default – which supplies the image as part of the CSS styling. The default styling for the box looks something like this: .closebox { position: absolute; right: 4px; top: 4px; background-image: url(images/close.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; width: 14px; height: 14px; cursor: pointer; opacity: 0.60; filter: alpha(opacity="80"); } .closebox:hover { opacity: 0.95; filter: alpha(opacity="100"); } Alternately you can also supply an image URL which overrides the background image in the style sheet. I use this plug-in mostly on pop up windows that can be closed, but it’s also quite handy for remove/delete behavior in list displays like this: you can find this sample here to look to play along: http://www.west-wind.com/WestwindWebToolkit/Samples/Ajax/AmazonBooks/BooksAdmin.aspx For closable windows it’s nice to have something reusable because in my client framework there are lots of different kinds of windows that can be created: Draggables, Modal Dialogs, HoverPanels etc. and they all use the client .closable plug-in to provide the closable operation in the same way with a few options. Plug-ins are great for this sort of thing because they can also be aggregated and so different components can pick and choose the behavior they want. The window here is a draggable, that’s closable and has shadow behavior and the server control can simply generate the appropriate plug-ins to apply to the main <div> tag: $().ready(function() { $('#ctl00_MainContent_panEditBook') .closable({ handle: $('#divEditBook_Header') }) .draggable({ dragDelay: 100, handle: '#divEditBook_Header' }) .shadow({ opacity: 0.25, offset: 6 }); }) The window is using the default .closebox style and has its handle set to the header bar (Book Information). The window is just closable to go away so no event handler is applied. Actually I cheated – the actual page’s .closable is a bit more ugly in the sample as it uses an image from a resources file: .closable({ imageUrl: '/WestWindWebToolkit/Samples/WebResource.axd?d=TooLongAndNastyToPrint', handle: $('#divEditBook_Header')}) so you can see how to apply a custom image, which in this case is generated by the server control wrapping the client DragPanel. More interesting maybe is to apply the .closable behavior to list scenarios. For example, each of the individual items in the list display also are .closable using this plug-in. Rather than having to define each item with Html for an image, event handler and link, when the client template is rendered the closable behavior is attached to the list. Here I’m using client-templating and the code that this is done with looks like this: function loadBooks() { showProgress(); // Clear the content $("#divBookListWrapper").empty(); var filter = $("#" + scriptVars.lstFiltersId).val(); Proxy.GetBooks(filter, function(books) { $(books).each(function(i) { updateBook(this); showProgress(true); }); }, onPageError); } function updateBook(book,highlight) { // try to retrieve the single item in the list by tag attribute id var item = $(".bookitem[tag=" +book.Pk +"]"); // grab and evaluate the template var html = parseTemplate(template, book); var newItem = $(html) .attr("tag", book.Pk.toString()) .click(function() { var pk = $(this).attr("tag"); editBook(this, parseInt(pk)); }) .closable({ closeHandler: function(e) { removeBook(this, e); }, imageUrl: "../../images/remove.gif" }); if (item.length > 0) item.after(newItem).remove(); else newItem.appendTo($("#divBookListWrapper")); if (highlight) { newItem .addClass("pulse") .effect("bounce", { distance: 15, times: 3 }, 400); setTimeout(function() { newItem.removeClass("pulse"); }, 1200); } } Here the closable behavior is applied to each of the items along with an event handler, which is nice and easy compared to having to embed the right HTML and click handling into each item in the list individually via markup. Ideally though (and these posts make me realize this often a little late) I probably should set up a custom cssClass to handle the rendering – maybe a CSS class called .removebox that only changes the image from the default box image. This example also hooks up an event handler that is fired in response to the close. In the list I need to know when the remove button is clicked so I can fire of a service call to the server to actually remove the item from the database. The handler code can also return false; to indicate that the window should not be closed optionally. Returning true will close the window. You can find more information about the .closable class behavior and options here: .closable Documentation Plug-ins make Server Control JavaScript much easier I find this plug-in immensely useful especial as part of server control code, because it simplifies the code that has to be generated server side tremendously. This is true of plug-ins in general which make it so much easier to create simple server code that only generates plug-in options, rather than full blocks of JavaScript code.  For example, here’s the relevant code from the DragPanel server control which generates the .closable() behavior: if (this.Closable && !string.IsNullOrEmpty(DragHandleID) ) { string imageUrl = this.CloseBoxImage; if (imageUrl == "WebResource" ) imageUrl = ScriptProxy.GetWebResourceUrl(this, this.GetType(), ControlResources.CLOSE_ICON_RESOURCE); StringBuilder closableOptions = new StringBuilder("imageUrl: '" + imageUrl + "'"); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(this.DragHandleID)) closableOptions.Append(",handle: $('#" + this.DragHandleID + "')"); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(this.ClientDialogHandler)) closableOptions.Append(",handler: " + this.ClientDialogHandler); if (this.FadeOnClose) closableOptions.Append(",fadeOut: 'slow'"); startupScript.Append(@" .closable({ " + closableOptions + "})"); } The same sort of block is then used for .draggable and .shadow which simply sets options. Compared to the code I used to have in pre-jQuery versions of my JavaScript toolkit this is a walk in the park. In those days there was a bunch of JS generation which was ugly to say the least. I know a lot of folks frown on using server controls, especially the UI is client centric as the example is. However, I do feel that server controls can greatly simplify the process of getting the right behavior attached more easily and with the help of IntelliSense. Often the script markup is easier is especially if you are dealing with complex, multiple plug-in associations that often express more easily with property values on a control. Regardless of whether server controls are your thing or not this plug-in can be useful in many scenarios. Even in simple client-only scenarios using a plug-in with a few simple parameters is nicer and more consistent than creating the HTML markup over and over again. I hope some of you find this even a small bit as useful as I have. • SharePoint 2010 Single Page Apps without a Master Page

    - by David Jacobus
    Originally posted on: http://geekswithblogs.net/djacobus/archive/2014/06/06/156827.aspxWell, maybe a stretch, but I am inclined to believe it is so.  I have been using  the JavaScript Client Object Model (JCSOM) for about 6 months now and I believe it can do about 80% of my job quickly without much fanfare.  When building sites in SharePoint no one wants the OOTB list views, etc. They want a custom look and feel!  I used to think in previous engagements that this would mean some custom server code or at least a data-form web part.   Since coming on-board in my current engagement, I have been forced because we don’t own the hosting site to come up with innovative ways to customize the UI of SharePoint.  We can push content via sandbox solutions and use JCSOM from within SharePoint Designer to do almost all customizations.  I have been using the following methodology to accomplish this: 1. Create an HTML file, which links CSS and JavaScript Files 2. Create and ASPX Web Part Page, Include a Content Editor Web Part and link to the HTML page created above.   So basically once it was done, I could copy , paste,  and rename those 4 items: CC, JS, HTML. ASPX and using MVVM just change the Model, View, and View-Model in the JavaScript file.  in about 5 minutes, I could create a completely new web part with SharePoint data.  Styling would take a little longer.  Some issues that would crop up: 1.  Multiple(s) of these web parts would not work well together on the same page (context). 2.  To separate the Web parts and context I would create a separate page for each web part and link them to a tabs layout via a Page Viewer web part or I frame.  Easy to do and not a problem but a big load problem as these web part pages even with minimal master had huge footprints.  (master page and page web part zones)   I kept thinking of my experience with SharePoint 2013 and apps!  The JavaScript was loaded from within the app, why can’t we do that in 2010 and skip the master page and web part zones. I thought at first, just link to sp.js but that didn’t work so I searched the web and found a link which did not work at all in my environment but helped me create a solution that would kudos to (Will). <!DOCTYPE html> <%@ Page %> <%@ Register Tagprefix="SharePoint" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls" Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %> <%@ Import Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint" %> <html> <head> <link rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../CSS/smoothness/jquery-ui-1.10.4.custom.min.css"> </head> <body > <form runat="server"> <!-- the following 5 js files are required to use CSOM --> <script src="/_layouts/1033/init.js" type="text/javascript" ></script> <script src="/_layouts/MicrosoftAjax.js" type="text/javascript" ></script> <script src="/_layouts/sp.core.js" type="text/javascript" ></script> <script src="/_layouts/sp.runtime.js" type="text/javascript" ></script> <script src="/_layouts/sp.js" type="text/javascript" ></script> <!-- include your app code --> <script src="../scripts/jquery-1.9.1.js" type="text/javascript" ></script> <script src="../Scripts/jquery-ui-1.10.3.custom.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../scripts/App.js" type="text/javascript" ></script> <div ID="Wrapper"> </div> <SharePoint:FormDigest ID="FormDigest1" runat="server"></SharePoint:FormDigest> </form> </body> </html> Notice that I have the scripts loaded within the body! I discovered this by accident in trying to get Will’s solution to work, it made this work just like normal JCSOM from the master page.  I am sure there are other ways to do this, but I am a full time developer, so I’ll let someone else investigate the alternatives.  I have an example page showing an Announcements list as a Booklet which is a JQuery Plug-In.  Here is the page source notice the footprint is light.   <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <link rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../CSS/smoothness/jquery-ui-1.10.4.custom.min.css"> <link href="../CSS/jquery.booklet.latest.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen, projection, tv" /> <link href="../CSS/bookletannouncement.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen, projection, tv" /> </head> <body > <form name="ctl00" method="post" action="BookletAnnouncements2.aspx" onsubmit="javascript:return WebForm_OnSubmit();" id="ctl00"> <div> <input type="hidden" name="__REQUESTDIGEST" id="__REQUESTDIGEST" value="0x3384922A8349572E3D76DC68A3F7A0984CEC14CB9669817CCA584681B54417F7FDD579F940335DCEC95CFFAC78ADDD60420F7AA82F60A8BC1BB4B9B9A57F9309,06 Jun 2014 14:13:27 -0000" /> <input type="hidden" name="__VIEWSTATE" id="__VIEWSTATE" value="/wEPDwUBMGRk20t+bh/NWY1sZwphwb24pIxjUbo=" /> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ var g_presenceEnabled = true;var _fV4UI=true;var _spPageContextInfo = {webServerRelativeUrl: "\u002fsites\u002fDemo50\u002fTeamSite", webLanguage: 1033, currentLanguage: 1033, webUIVersion:4,pageListId:"{ee707b5f-e246-4246-9e55-8db11d09a8cb}",pageItemId:167,userId:1, alertsEnabled:false, siteServerRelativeUrl: "\u002fsites\u002fdemo50", allowSilverlightPrompt:'True'};//]]> </script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/_layouts/1033/init.js?rev=lEi61hsCxcBAfvfQNZA%2FsQ%3D%3D"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ function WebForm_OnSubmit() { UpdateFormDigest('\u002fsites\u002fDemo50\u002fTeamSite', 1440000); } function onQueryFailed(sender, args) { alert('Request failed. ' + args.get_message() + '\n' + args.get_stackTrace()); } The idea behind this post is that this could be used to: 1.   Create landing pages that are very un-SharePoint like! 2.   Make lightweight pages that could be used in page viewer web part or I Frame. 3.  Utilize Deep Zoom Composer and Sea-Dragon/or Silver light I will be using this for much of my development work!

  • Repeat use of Schema / Rich Snippets Markup i.e LocalBusiness Data

    - by bybe
    I am unable to find official wording and I'm hoping that some Rich Snippets/Schema Guru can give me some insight into proper usage of repeated content when it comes to using markup. I'm building a site that wants to use Schema as the markup type and the owner would like as much usage as possible. The business name, telephone and address will appear on every page now is it valid or even useful to use Rich Snippets on every page where this information is displayed. For example this information appears in the header, and footer of every page of the site and too give you an example of my current markup see below: <body itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/LocalBusiness"> <header> <a itemprop="url" href="http://www.domain.co.uk/"> <img itemprop="logo" src="image.png" alt="Company Name Logo" /> </a> <span itemprop="telephone">01202 000 000</span> </header> <div> This is where the content will go</div> <footer> <span itemprop="name">Company Name</span> <span itemprop="description"> A small little bit about this company</span> <div itemprop="address" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/PostalAddress"> <span itemprop="streetAddress">Address Goes here</span> <span itemprop="addressLocality">Area Here</span>, <span itemprop="addressRegion">Region Here</span> </div> </footer> </body> !-- Local Business Schema Now Closed --> So as you can see above this information will be displayed on every single page.... Is this valid or bad to repeat usage of this information in schema format...
