  • Blackberry keeps sending notifications of FB and emails [closed]

    Here is the problem I got with my blackberry : I have received and sent multiple mails this week-end from my home computer. As usual, I received the notifications of sent and received emails on my blackberry, and archived / deleted them. But, I still receive the notifications of new mails several times a day, for emails I already have deleted in my Gmail account. I tried rebooting the blackberry (alt+shift+del) and removing the battery, but nothing helps, the notifications are sent and re-sent, no matter what I do. Anyone has an advice on how to stop this spam, as it is becoming very annoying ?

    I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to a VPS. I successfully installed a WordPress NGINX setup but I am lost when it comes to downloading plugins from the WordPress dashboard. What credentials do I use? I am still using root on the VPS, although I have disabled root login and am using value key pairs to login. do I have to change to another user from root or can I use root as the ftp credentials from the dashboard to download plugins?   • What is a good replacement for StumbleUpon's Share feature?

    I've been using Firefox + StumbleUpon's Share feature with my friends for years now. It is a perfect way of sharing links directly with your friends. You first need to be Following each other and then on the SU toolbar, you can "Share" with your list of friends. You can even include a personal message. The friend will receive a notification with # of pending shares in their toolbar (bold & red). They click the stumble button and it will navigate to the site plus show a yellow bar with your message. I literally use it daily. But then Chrome came along and beat the tar out of Firefox (and other browsers) in terms of usability and performance. But it doesn't (and never will according to Google) allow toolbars. StumbleUpon's solution in Chrome is a fake toolbar (html) that gets injected into the page you're viewing. It's buggy and performance is low. Overall it's not an acceptable solution. I'm looking for a replacement with something that is just as easy to send/receive links. I was thinking of Twitter DM's and using a bookmarklet, but I wanted to survey the collective for other options Thanks in advance for your input!

    I have added the social links in my html page. When I added, the top nav of my pages is gone. Tats appeared in firefox but not in IE. Any one help me how can i resolve tis?   • URL encoding for document.location.href

    Hello - I am building an iFrame and am using document.location.href - my exact code is: <script type="text/javascript"> document.write("<iframe src='http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=" + document.location.href + "&layout=standard&show_faces=false&action=like&font=verdana&colorscheme=light' frameborder=0></iframe>"); </script> This is working great for all of my pages except one. I believe the issue with the one page is caused by a dash "-" being in the page name. My questions is - is there a way to encode my src differently so that the link works? The CORRECT URL I want it to pull is: []/products/Product%252dExample.html But what it IS pulling in is: []/products/Product-Example.html And this is causing the page to not work correctly. Thanks!

We need reliable messaging between our clients and the server, preferably over HTTP protocol. Besides the multiplayer functionality, we’ll also need a content delivery service. Could you please recommend a server-side technology for us, so we’ll start searching for the right people to hire?   • Organize array in PHP from mysql

    Hi i have a social networking website. what i want it to do is pull out my friends status updates. basically what it does is i have a mysql query that pulls out all of my friends and in that while loop there is another mysql query that pulls out the status's from my friends. i want it to be in order of date but since its one while loop in another what it does is pull out all status's from friend 1 then 2 then 3 and not in order by date. i even tried ORDER BY DATE but that just ordered it by date within the friend.. my thought is that i could putt it all in an array and friends is one thing and the values is the stats. then just sort by values would this work and how could i do it. I've read abstract articles and papers describing trust metrics but haven't seen any actual implementations. My goal is to create a system that allows users to vote on other users and the content of other users and with those votes and related meta-data, determine if those votes can be applied to a users level or popularity. Have you used or seen some sort of trust system within a social graph? How did it work and what were its areas of strength and weaknesses?

  • What is a good measure of strength of a link and influence of a node?

    In the context of social networks, what is a good measure of strength of a link between two nodes? I am currently thinking that the following should give me what I want: For two nodes A and B: Strength(A,B) = (neighbors(A) intersection neighbors(B))/neighbors(A) where neighbors(X) gives the total number of nodes directly connected to X and the intersection operation above gives the number of nodes that are connected to both A and B. Of course, Strength(A,B) != Strength(B,A). Now knowing this, is there a good way to determine the influence of a node? I was initially using the Degree Centrality of a node to determine its "influence" but I somehow think its not a good idea because just because a node has a lot of outgoing links does not mean anything. Those links should be powerful as well. In that case, maybe using an aggregate of the strengths of each node connected to this node is a good idea to estimate its influence? I'm a little confused. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • FBConnect for iPhone: sessionDidNotLogin, sessionDidLogout, session didLogin not called the second t

    My problem is very similar to this question, however I am posting a new one, as the answer to the aforementioned does not seem to solve my problem. I have a multiview application - the first view is where the user logs in to Facebook, and the second where he picks an image and uploads it there. The first time the app runs, everything works fine, however if I return to the login view and press logout, then any calls to sessionDidNotLogin, sessionDidLogout or session didLogin don't seem to work. I found out that the first time, if I NSLog(@"%@",session.delegates); I have 2; my LoginViewController and the FBLoginButton. However, apart from that first time, the same log prints only the LoginViewController and not the FBLoginButton. I guess this is connected somehow, but I don't know how to solve it. Do I have to manually add the FBLoginButton to the session delegates, or I'm doing something else wrong here? Thank you for any help/suggestion.

  • How do I automate navigation to a website that requires authentication?

    Here's what I'm trying to achieve. I would like to write a script that will navigate to a website that requires me to be authenticated as myself, say Facebook, Live Spaces, Twitter or any other, and then have that script search for certain information on one of the pages of the website. I've done something similar in the past with the Windows.Forms WebBrowser control, which is a full blown implementation of IE that can be controlled through code and will store whatever cookies you get once you're authenticated, but it was very unfriendly to modify and I was hoping to use a scripting language instead, maybe Powershell or something of that sort. Are there maybe some good tutorials about this out there on the web? Thanks!

    I'm currently building a facebook application. Lets say I have a variable $uid that identifies the user so I can store this in my database along with their submitted data. I pass $uid and $data via json encoded values using $.post. However, this doesn't prevent someone changing $uid to save data as someone else. I have been thinking about how to overcome this, so far I haven't found a solution apart from: create database with $uid $secretkey on first page load. When $.post send $secretkey with the post and then retrieve the $uid from the database. Would this be the correct approach to use?

  • Getting empty result within PHP when in browser I get the JSON exception

    I have this code: $url="https://graph.facebook.com/me/friends?access_token=".$access_token."&fields=id,first_name,last_name&limit=10"; $content=file_get_contents($url); Whenever I use this on a non authenticated user I should get feedback of OAuthException, which doesn't show up in the PHP the $content is empty. While if I copy the URL to the browser I get the result and I see the exception. I want to detect if the user is logged in and the session data is valid. What might be wrong?
