• Recursive wildcards in Rake?

  Follow up to this question about GNU make: I've got a directory, flac, containing .FLAC files. I've got a corresponding directory, mp3 containing MP3 files. If a FLAC file is newer than the corresponding MP3 file (or the corresponding MP3 file doesn't exist), then I want to run a bunch of commands to convert the FLAC file to an MP3 file, and copy the tags across. The kicker: I need to search the flac directory recursively, and create corresponding subdirectories in the mp3 directory. The directories and files can have spaces in the names, and are named in UTF-8. It turns out that this won't work in make, because of the spaces in the directories and filenames, so I'm wondering how to do it in rake instead...

• What's the best way to access Neo4j from Django?

  it seems that i found something that let me confused; i've found two Neo4j to download to python, the first one is: http://pypi.python.org/pypi/neo4j-embedded and the second one is: https://svn.neo4j.org/components/neo4j.py/trunk/ what's the difference between the two? the first one seems to be big (size), so does this mean that if i use it i'll not need the neo4j community release (milestone)? when i've installed the first one, and tried to test a django example, it seems that the directory named "model" https://svn.neo4j.org/components/neo4j.py/trunk/src/main/python/neo4j/model/ is missing? so what's the difference, and who will be better to use with Django? and what about that one? http://pypi.python.org/pypi/neo4django/

• Python script shows different pythonpath

  Attempting to run runsnake gives ImportError: No module named wx Opening an ipython or python session seems to work fine: >>> import wx >>> import sys >>> print [p for p in sys.path if 'wx' in p] ['/usr/local/lib/wxPython-2.9.4.0/lib/python2.7/site-packages', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-2.9.4.0/lib/python2.7/site-packages/wx-2.9.4-osx_cocoa', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-2.9.4.0/lib/python2.7/site-packages/wx-2.9.1-osx_cocoa/tools'] as does putting that code in a script and calling python script.py. But putting that code at the beginning of runsnake.py prints an empty list (printing the whole sys.path prints a path quite different from my $PYTHONPATH). Why would it be different, and how to I get it to recognize wxPython?

• Problem with "write" function in linux

  I am trying to write 2 server/client programs under Linux, in which they communicate through named pipes. The problem is that sometimes when I try to write from the server into a pipe that doesn't exist anymore (the client has stopped), I get a "Resource temporarily unavailable" error and the server stops completely. I understand that this is caused by using a O_NONBLOCK parameter when opening the fifo chanel, indicating the point where the program would usually wait until it could write again in the file, but is there a way to stop this behavior, and not halt the entire program if a problem occurs (shouldn't the write command return -1 ad the program continue normally)? And another strange thing is that this error only occurs when running the programs outside the ide (eclipse). If I run both programs inside eclipse, on error the write function just returns -1 and the programs continues normally.

I have written a class file (which contain a function to render the graph,a function for entering data named insertdata(string[] s,double[] d)) in App_code folder. I pass the value into the insertdata during page load_event. I saw a feature of googlechart.when you pass the value in url address bar it will create a graph according to that passed value. how can i pass the value into the insertdata() function through url address? can anybody help me?

  Hi, I am using data grid view to display items as excel spread sheet in VB.NET. I got a table named CostTypes with column names [CostTypeID, CostType] and values [1,External] and [2,Internal] (These are constant but more values can be added to table). I want to create columns with names of the values[External , Internal] in DataGridView. If I use databiding directly I get columns [CostTypeID,CostType] which is not what I am looking for. If some one could explain how to create columns at runtime in datagridview or how to retrieve data from data base using LINQ so that [External , Internal] turn out to be columns that would be great.   I have a file named AttachmentDownload.aspx and inside Page_Load method have such code wich offers to download file. All names work correctly in IE except names which include ";" or "#". They offer user to save the file under name "AttachmentDownload.aspx". Is there a workaround for this? • Is search and replace the only way to rename an asp control in the code behind file?

  Is search and replace the only way to rename as asp control in the code behind file? I find this extremely annoying, but it is the only way I can find. Scenario: I'll find a variable that needs renaming (Usually to meet naming convention) I'll rename the variable in the aspx/ascx file. I'll have to go in the code behind files and search and replace. I get annoyed Are there any better ways - preferably that would not touch a similarly named variable in another scope in the project. I'm on VS2008 with resharper -- does VS2010 address this perhaps?

• eclipse wont include/identify user .h files and .o files

  i'm new to eclipse CDT, and try to use an existing .o file that was supplied with the proper .h file. eclipse just wont include it in the compilation process. i tryed drag&drop to the eclipse project browser, and the files did show there, but no use, still "No such file: No such file or directory". i tryed defining the .o file in the: project properties tool settings MinGW C Linker Miscellaneous other objects. didn't work either. as for the header file, i did try a workaround: created a new file in the project and named it after the file i want to include as header, then copied the content. and yet, the compiler/linker didn't recognize the object file. perhaps you can help?thank you

  Hi, I have an interface named IHarvester. There are 3 implementations of that interface, each under their own namespace: Google Yahoo Bing A HarvesterManager uses the given harvester. It knows the interface and all 3 implementations. I want some way of letting the class user say in which harvester it wants to use. And in the code select that implementation, without a switch-case implementation. Can reflection save my day?   I am trying to find some information on data limits related to stdout on Windows. I can't seem to find the information on MSDN. Is there a limit to how much data can be written to stdout? If so, what happens if the limit is reached? Is the data lost? If stdout is redirected (for example, by launching the process from .Net and using the ProcessStartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput property), does that have any effect on how much data can be written? As I read from the stdout stream in the calling process, does that affect the limitations? Are these limits related in any way to named pipes?

  Been searching around for a bit and cannot find a solution for this one. I guess I'm looking for a leaf-directory by name. In this example I'd like to get a list of directories call 'modules' that do NOT have a subdirectory called module. modules/package1/modules/spackage1 modules/package1/modules/spackage2 modules/package1/modules/spackage3/modules modules/package1/modules/spackage3/modules/spackage1 modules/package2/modules/ The list I desire would contain modules/package1/modules/spackage3/modules/ modules/package2/modules/ All the directories named module that do not have a subdirectory called module I started with trying something this with no luck find . -name modules \! -exec sh -c 'find -name modules' \; -exec works on exit code, okay lets pass the count as exit code find . -name modules -exec sh -c 'exit $(find {} -name modules|grep -n ""|tail -n1|cut -d: -f1)' \; This should take the count of each subdirectory called modules and exit with it. No such love.

• Method of getting text on a windows form ( unmanaged C++ project )

  I'm in the process of learning C++. I've created a boilerplate Win32 app within VC++ 2008. I've studied through the code and am ready do do a bit of experimenting. I thought it would be cool to print all the windows messages received in the message loop to the form created via the boilerplate code. I for the life of me, can't figure out the method of getting text onto that form. I can't seem to identify and named object that I can use to reference that damn form. The best I can figure is I need to use the handle to reference the form somehow. Still, even if I did know how to reference the form, I'm not sure I know how I would create a label to display the text. Anyway, if someone could just point out what methodology I need to learn to make this happen it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Donovan

• Controller with same name as an area - Asp.Net MVC4

  I have a Contacts controller in the main/top area, and I have an area named "Contacts". I get POST 404s to the Contacts controller if I register my areas before I register my top-level routes: protected void Application_Start() { AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas(); ModelBinders.Binders.DefaultBinder = new NullStringBinder(); RouteConfig.RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } And, if I register my areas after my routes, my 404s to the Contacts controller goes away, but my routes to the Contacts area are now 404s. ...lots of duplicate controller name questions logged, but I haven't found a specific scenario where the area is the same name as the controller. ...probably an easy fix. Would appreciate help. :-D

What I am looking for, in short, is some gcc command for recursive compilation in sub-directories and their subdirectories and so on... This command should be invoked from the home directory of the code project.

• Does Msbuild recognise any build configurations other than DEBUG|RELEASE

  I created a configuration named Test via Visual Studio which currently just takes all of DEBUG settings, however I employ compiler conditions to determine some specific actions if the build happens to be TEST|DEBUG|RELEASE. However how can I get my MSBUILD script to detect the TEST configuration?? Currently I build <MSBuild Projects="@(SolutionsToBuild)" Properties="Configuration=$(Configuration);OutDir=$(BuildDir)\Builds\" /> Where @(SolutionsToBuild) is a my solution. In the Common MsBuild Project Properties it states that $(Configuration) is a common property but it always appears blank? Does this mean that it never gets set but is simply reserved for my use or that it can ONLY detect DEBUG|RELEASE. If so what is the point in allowing the creation of different build configurations?

  I want to allow hotlinking only from a list of referrers (paying customers, probably a few hundred). I am on Apache 1.3 and I do not have access to the configuration (only .htaccess). What is the fastest way to implement this? My thoughts so far: PHP with database and readfile() (SSI with) Perl and database the list implemented as symlinks named after the allower referrer, then RewriteCond using HTTP_REFERER everything in .htaccess, lots of RewriteCond's everything in .htaccess, lots of SetEnvIf's Any better (faster) ways to do this? In this function if I say mycomponent._urlRequest ="http://mysite.com" the httpservice throws a null url error but if I say mycomponent.srv.url="http://mysite.com" it works fine. Why is this?

  I have a XML file that I want to load into an unknown object type. (I say unknown object type because I am not sure what direction to go) Once I have the data loaded I need to do some processing on certain elements that are now loaded into the new object. For sake of example, we can say that the xml file is full of elements named <car> and within the car element I need to process the <mileage> element. • JavaScript helper libraries? No DOM or AJAX stuff

  As I'm writing JavaScript I'm always missing some fairly basic language features that JavaScript just don't have. So is there any library that would bring such features as trim, sprintf, str.endwith and etc. functions to JavaScript ? I just have written those functions too many times and I'm also tired of copy/pasting them from my old code. It would be nice to have some library which has those implemented and tested in one place. Note that I'm not talking about Ajax/DOM-libraries like jQuery or Dojo and such. I know that those libraries bring some of the features that I'm talking here, but not all. And I would like to have also an environment independent library so that same library could be used with server side JavaScript . Best library so far that I've found is php.js, but I don't like how it is polluting the global namespace. I'm also not too fond of how PHP-functions are named.

  I am getting this error in my sys.transmission_queue table whenever I attempt to send a SQL Service Broker message between two different SQL Server servers. (i.e. the databases are on two different physical machines) Dialog security is unavailable for this conversation because there is no security certificate bound to the database principal (Id: 5). Either create a certificate for the principal, or specify ENCRYPTION = OFF when beginning the conversation When this error refers to "database principal" what is it referring to? (the "master" database? dbo user?) I've used the CREATE CERTIFICATE command, backed up the certificate and created a same named certificate on the other server with the backup .cer file from the first server, but I keep getting this message. Any help would be appreciated in getting me pointed in the right direction. I must be missing something obvious. FYI, in my development environment, both the initiating and target databases were on the same physical server, and same SQL instance, and everything was working fine.

When I try to do a JPA query like this: "SELECT p FROM Participant p WHERE p.party.id = :partyKey AND p.name=:participantName" I get the following error Caused by: org.datanucleus.store.appengine.FatalNucleusUserException: SELECT FROM Participant p WHERE p.party.id = :partyKey AND p.name=:participantName: Can only reference properties of a sub-object if the sub-object is embedded. I gave the key of the Party object as a parameter to the "partyKey" named parameter. The model is like this: Party has multiple Participants. I want to query a participant based on the party and the name of the participant. I just can't figure out how to filter using the party. What options do I have?
