    Hi, I am learning some embedded programming. I am using Linux as my platform and I want to create a daemon program that will check if a particular device(magstrife, keypad, etc) is active. Like for example, my daemon program is running in the background, then when I make a keypress event, my deamon app will do something. What implementation should I do to create this app? And how can I check the event of the devices? Thanks.

    I am currently building a small visual designer using the Netbeans Platform. All my components that can be placed on the JPanel show correctly in the Palette Window. What I am struggling to do at the moment, is to let the property window show the properties of the component that was either just dragged and dropped or showing the currently selected component in the JPanel in the Properties window.     Hey guys, im pretty new to android platform and have a really simple question. Im putting buttons as layouts with text boxes, but im running out of room. How would i make it possible for the user to scroll down to view more buttons and stuff. For example, if i have 6 buttons, and 3 are in the field of view, i wanna be able to scroll with my finger and be able to see those buttons as I scroll. Thanks for the help guys -Localgamer

I'm using Qt for symbian. my problem is that Qt doesn't provide ready to use API for bluetooth.Only Qt extended(which runs on embedded linux) has API for bluetooth.   • How does porting between Linux and Windows work?

    If a particular piece of software is made to be run on one platform and the programmer/company/whatever wants to port it to the other, what exactly is done? I mean, do they just rewrite linux or windows-specific references to the equivalent in the other? Or is an entire rewrite necessary? Just trying to understand what makes it so cost-prohibitive that so many major vendors don't port their software to Linux (specifically thinking about Adobe) Thanks
