  • Does using a country domain (TLD) negatively effect a site's search ranking if the site content isn't country specific?

    I have a website in which the content is not country specific. The TLD is currently .it but the company is hosted and based in the United States. I'm wondering if a .it domain will negatively effect the site's search rankings. Is it better to use a .com TLD? For example (I don't actually own these domains), would the domain love.it have a worse ranking than loveit.com? (Assuming the content of the sites is the same) I've been searching everywhere for an answer with not much luck. Any advice would be very helpful.

    I have my website, we'll say it's "www.mysite.com" and I want to redirect it to my mobile site, which I am going to set up at "www.mobile.mysite.com." Both sites are with the same account at 1and1.com. I don't know what I am doing wrong. It says I have too many redirect loops. I put the javascript code in my head tag of my index.html home page that detects the screen size and I put in the URL of "www.mobile.mysite.com" and it gives me the redirect error.

    Possible Duplicate: Does Google penalize .me or .tv sites? I see a lot of people now opting to use myname.im or myname.me But after doing some checking, i found that .im domain names are meant to be Isle of Man endings. Is this correct, and does it matter that people opt to use this domain ending if they are not even based anywhere near the Isle of Man. It is Ok to use a domain ending purely for how good it sounds is what I'm really after. Or is it bad practice to do this.

    The title attribute is an HTML standard element available across most tags. e.g. <li><a title="Widgets listed by household function" href="/widgets/by-function.html">by Function</a></li> I've used this attribute on some sites for usability; many browsers pop up a "tooltip" over the link with the more detailed description of what is on the other side. I've been wondering if doing so is having a negative effect on my rankings (hidden text?) or if it has any effect at all on onsite or offsite keyword relevance calculations.     I just installed SharePoint 2010 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 server with SQL Server 2008. Everything is installed on this single server, and I configured SharePoint 2010 as described here: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blogs/fromthefield/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=112 Everything installed correct, and the SQL databases were created. But when I visit HTTPS-sites then IE shows popup: "To help protect your security, IE has restricted ......". I pressed allow button, my pictures were displayed. However IE shows it again. And it happens again and again. What have I done wrong? Have I registered my plugin incorrectly ?

As Word is loading, I see a little Opening dialog which says, Opening: http://myserver/sites/testsite/Shared%20Documents/Forms/Document/MeetingMinutes.docx, to which Word responds: "Word was unable to read this document. It may be corrupt." So the Document Template works correctly in the Site Content Type (where it does me no good), but is not working in the List Content Type (where I really need it). Now, I know I could put this in _layouts, but from what I've read, _cts is the way to do it. What am I doing wrong?

  • Why meta refresh followed by 2 redirects?

    I have encountered several websites where the initial visit by a user results in a http-equiv refresh to another (usually gibberish) url, which then promptly redirects (302) to another gibberish url, which in turn immediately redirects to yet a fourth url that actually displays the landing page for the site. My question is: what the heck? Why would a server be set up to behave this way?
