• Recovery Harddisk for windows 7 (Details inside)

  I want to create recovery media (DVD or HDD) for my Windows 7 running on my VAIO laptop. I noticed that my HDD is already having 13.51 GB partition which is labelled as "Recovery Partition" (not visible in My Computer but visible in Computer management tool in control panel). Can you please suggest me how to use this Recovery partition as a recovery media for my windows? I don't want to create DVDs as recovery media.

  I have set the Mail app from Microsoft (WinRT) as the default application for mail in Default Programs. However, when I right-click on a file, and select Send to Mail recipient I get a message box saying:There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. Is there a way to get this action working with Mail?

• Outlook 2007 - Cannot start Outlook - Cannot open the Outlook window.

  I went to open Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 32bit machine and it came up with this error: Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. I have deleted and created a new profile in Control Panel Mail but it still doesn't want to work properly but it still comes up with this message. • unlock-bde application not found error prevalent in Windows 8

  I have encrypted a drive with BitLocker in Windows 8 Pro, but the drive will not auto-unlock. I can manually unlock the drive from BitLocker in the Control Panel. However from Windows Explorer, I keep seeing the "unlock-bde" command that reports the error "application not found." Anyone know how to permanently fix this issue so it will auto-unlock the encrypted drive upon login to Windows 8 and it does not reoccur?

• XAMPP won't start because I'm already running MySQL on port 3306

  I'm trying to start XAMPP, but it fails with only the word 'Busy' in the Control Panel console. I ran xampp/install/portcheck.bat to see if the ports were available, and I see that port 3306 is busy (because I'm running MySQL as a service on it). I suppose that XAMPP wants to take over and run MySQL on that port. Can anyone tell me how to get XAMPP to just make use of the existing server and not try to control it itself?

• Can I force my video card to work in a certain refresh rate?

  I have a GeForce GT 640 video card, but by default the screen flickers badly. And if I change the refresh rate to 59 Hz in NVIDIA Control Panel manually, everything is OK. I don't know why. Now the problem is, if the system restarts, the refresh rate become 60Hz, then the screen flicker is flickering. I need to change the refresh rate again. Can I keep the refresh rate to 59 Hz? Or it would be better if the screen doesn't flicker at 60 Hz.

• iTunes video black screen until select computer output

  I don't remember this happening before, but now whenever I play any video in iTunes (podcast video, movie, TV show, iTunes extras stuff but the menus work) it just shows a black screen with the sound playing. If I stop it, select "Computer" in the little output control on the iTunes video control panel that pops up, then play again, it works fine. What the heck? Tried rebooting, updating, with and without external monitor. OSX 10.6.6

  I Backed up my site then totally re-did my server with a different Control Panel which created a different directory structure /var/www/vhosts/user/site.com/httpdocs I put the files into the httpdocs folder and put the database back correctly (I think) I can see the main page but clicking on any links gets me a Not Found Message I have tried running update.php and I cannot access /user/login either.

Occasionally I need to update the software and to do so I need to see what I am doing so I plug a monitor in locally. • Will installing the CCCP make any difference in MKV handling in Win7/WMP12?

  I've found that MKV files play just fine on WMP12 (Win 7 64-bit). However, no thumbnails for such files are there and in the information panel at the bottom, no information about the length of the video is shown. I wonder if installing CCCP would fix these 2 issues and/or improve the playability of MKV even further. Or do I not need that pack? What do you think?

  I have antivirus service (Kaspersky) that occasionally becomes unresponsive to the normal stop/stop gui interface provided by said vendor. I would like to find a way to kill the service for a restart without rebooting, however all attempts I have tried result in failure with an 'Access is Denied' error. In the admin panel, I use single-port forward Internal Port External Port IP 80 80 to 192.168.1.100 (Web Server) Basically, I'm not on site, and there is a local IT person who is supposed to have this ready. This is first time I see something like this happen to shell in Windows 7, as you can see, tabs and buttons in some programs, or control panel (see screenshot) are like those in basic Windows theme. Of course, there is selected 'Adjust for best appearance' in System Properties, so it's not making a problem, also Aero theme is enabled, which is obvious. What could be solution for this?

  I'm trying to remove the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (x64). It says it's uninstalled when I try to remove it from Control Panel->Programs and Features, but the list item is still there, and if I try to remove it again, it brings up the prompt to install it. How do I get rid of this program completely (or at least remove it from the add/remove list)? I don't have Microsoft Office installed (or Visual Studio).

• With a node.js powered server on EC2, how can I decrease the TCP connection time?

  While profiling my application I've noticed that in the Firebug Net panel, the "Connecting" time—that is the time waiting for a TCP connection—is consistently around 70–100ms. See image below: Of course in the grand scheme of things, 100ms is not long, but I have seen other services that respond with 0ms Connect time. So if other servers can, I should be able to as well. Any thoughts on how I might even beging to troubleshoot this?
