  • Rendering PDFs from a database inside MVC views?

    I was wondering if it's possible to do this without using 3rd party compnents in MVC 3. (I am open to free components though.) There are a couple of links out there but they seem to be mostly concerned with reporting and other code samples that do claim to do this sort of thing don't seem to compile. I'm not having any trouble saving and retrieving the PDFs to and from my database, but when I return the PDF as a File or a FileStreamResult the user is prompted with a download. A more desirable approach would be to actually render the PDFs inside the browser. I've had a look at iTextSHarp, it does the job to an extent, but it's not a complete solution. For example it will display the PDF inside the view if and only if the client has Adobe Reader installed, otherwise it prompts for a download. So technically, I'm mostly looking for a PDF viewer. Any ideas?

  • Rendering performance in FlasCC + UDK when compared to Stage3d and UDK on Windows?

    Adobe recently released the Flash C++ Compiler, which UDK uses to target Flash Player. Developers can now access UDK for browser applications. Does this mean greater performance than using a Stage3D engine (Away3D 4) and how much of a noticeable difference in performance would it make in rendering speeds? Is there any benchmark you could propose that would allow to compare them fairly? I am asking this to help myself understand the consequences in performance for deciding to use UDK in a browser based game. I would also like to know how it compares with UDK running natively in Windows? I am not asking which technology to use or which is better. Only interested in optimizing rendering speed in a 3d browser game with flash.

  • TempData and ViewData not rendering in a deployed ASP MVC app

They do work as expected in the development environment but not in production. Any ideas of what setting I need to be looking at?   • Right way to center a <div> in xhtml?

    Im working with a XHTML 1.0 Transitional doctype html file, and I want to have a main div with 800px width and make it appears centered (not the div content, but the div itself).   • IE8 Inconsistent Rendering when Reloading

    I am working on fixing a website that doesn't work in the new release of IE8. After a bit I found out that you can force IE8 to render as IE7 with the following meta tag: <!-- Meta tag for IE8 so that it always displays the site in IE7 Compatibility mode --> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" /> I have found that although the page loads fine when you specify this meta-tag; However, when you click or press the refresh button after the initial load of the page, the page renders completely wrong (see bellow): This really seems like an IE8 bug to me, as I've never seen any other browser render inconstantly on a page refresh. As anyone else noticed this? Update! This was cause by having CompanionJS installed in IE8.

    Hi, I've recently upgraded Polish from 2.0.7 to 2.4.2, which causes a problem with the extended toolbar. Before everything works fine. I've run into a problem with the ExecuteResult call used to process the View.   • Image rendering on browser or temporary images?

    I'm trying to make a statistics page where it will show several data and charts. The charts need to be pictures so that the user can save it/drag-and-drop to his/her personal reports. I'm using Gruff Graphs for Ruby to produce the charts but I don't know the best way to display the results safe and protected. Some of my ideas/tries are: save the chart to a file (jpg, png)? problem: data is available to anyone (don't have access to cron, to delete data from time to time) render in the browser (has to work on IE)? Use javascript (Raphaël—JavaScript Library) or Google API and output a PDF report (need plugin or gem, right)? use send_data? i've tried to output other way than inline, because I needs to show other data, is it possible?     I have to draw a small finite state machine that has some reflexive transitions (meaning the start and the end state of the transition are equal.     I'm starting to learn about 3D rendering and I've been making good progress. I've picked up a lot regarding matrices and the general operations that can be performed on them. One thing I'm still not quite following is OpenGL's use of matrices. I see this (and things like it) quite a lot: x y z n ------- 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 1 So my best understanding, is that it is a normalized (no magnitude) 4 dimensional, column-major matrix. Also that this matrix in particular is called the "identity matrix". Some questions: What is the "nth" dimension? How and when are these applied? My biggest confusion arises from how OpenGL makes use of this kind of data.

  • Page zoom slows down page rendering

    I'm building a map viewer much like Google maps and i've run into an interesting performance problem when a page is zoomed (i.e ctrl + OR ctrl -). It seems to affect all major browsers but Firefox has the worst problems as far as I can tell. The problem is that when the page is zoomed panning by dragging the mouse seems really sluggish. This can even be seen on Google maps. Pan the map left and right and note how smooth it is. Now press ctrl+ (3 or 4 times). Now pan the map left and right in the same way. Notice the difference? Does anyone know how I can minimize this problem?

Doing it that way, I don't need to use any external library and, as the data I'm exporting is just a table, I don't need nothing complex to handle it. My question is: there is a way to create an AutoFilter by just modifying the HTML tags? I mean, like if a put a < bColumn Name in the HTML, when exporting to Excel it will become Bold, it is possible to do the same thing with the AutoFilter?

  • Disable MathML output of eLyXer

    eLyXer is a standalone LyX to HTML converter. In the resulting file, equations are formatted as MathML, and the file itself starts with an XML tag. This causes two problems: LibreOffice does not read the XML file (it can read HTML files, but not XHTML). I am unable to copy and paste the equations into a document editor such as LibreOffice with the goal of subsequent conversion into .doc, because .doc files do not support MathML. The eLyXer help page mentions an option to only use simple math, but there is no option to set math equations to output as images. And I already set Document Settings Output Math equations Format: images in LyX, which presumably is saved in the lyx document somewhere. A web search did not come up with any solutions.

I don't care mouch about old IE support and I think Html5/css3 will give a slicker/more elegant solution.
