• Update Windows Defender schedule via command line or gpo?

  I'm looking to find a way to update some Windows Defender settings via command line, gpo etc. From my research it looks like windows defender creates a hidden scheduled task named 'MP Scheduled Scan', but modifying this task does not seem to make a difference as to what shows up in the Windows Defender UI. I have also done some process monitoring to see what data Windows Defender uses and I can see that it reads/writes to the 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scan' ScheduleDay key, but if I attempt to modify this key, I get an "Error Writing the new values contents" error message.

Basically I need help first on HOW to create functions, and general tips on making it adjustable for varying number of columns etc. This may be a very complicated task, as I have no previous experience making SQL functions, so please let me know if this is a difficult task for an SQL noobie working with MS SQL 2005.

  I have a group of users on my server, "Developers", and I would like an environment variable to be set for them whenever they login. More specifically, when anyone in this group logs in, I would like the equivalent of: setenv ANDROID_SDK_HOME /Developers/Android/User to be set at login. I can do this with a login script if necessary, but what I'm asking is: is it possible to set this type of thing in Profile Manager, Workgroup Manager, Directory Utility, etc? • Windows 8 black screen with mouse pointer after login

  I restarted my system today and after logging in, i could see see nothing but a black screen with mouse pointer. I can start task manager via alt+ctrl+del, Task manager and msconfig show fine but when i try to run 'explorer' nothing happens. In safe mode everything seems fine. I do not have any system restore points and repair options from the DVD show "this option is not available for the selected OS" I've also updated my graphic drivers. Didn't help

  I have a Server running Ubuntu 10.10 Server-Edition kvm, and libvirt (both ubuntu-native packages) HDD-Partitioning was done with LVM. Then I created some VMs with Virt-Manager and assigned LVM-Volumes to the VMs. Now the VMs do not boot. Virt-Manager shows a CPU-Usage of 100% for this Guest and the VNC-Connection states Booting from Hard Disk The VM-specific logfiles do not show any abnormality only syslog shows a warning warning : qemudParsePCIDeviceStrs:1422 : Unexpected exit status '1', qemu probably failed What can I do to find the error?

• Fix static ip address problems in Ubuntu 10.04

  I used Network Manager in Ubuntu 10.04 to set a static ip address and assigned one that was already in use. Now my computer will not boot (nfs crashes). I booted from a live cd to change the configuration on the file system in /etc/network/interfaces but the file looks to be the default. Where does the network manager (the gui from system- preferences) store it's configuration so I can overwrite it and enter the correct ip addresss and have a happy working computer again. thanks!!

  Is there a possibility to store nginx locations in DB instead of the config to serve them dynamically? The task is to create dynamic URLs for video files based on user's IP and video ID. The idea is when the user visits my website such an dynamic URL is created and added to the db as a new nginx location that exists just for this user and not for others. Or nginx doesn't fit my task and I need to use another tool? Thanks.

  Is there a way to manage a Hyper-V cluster that runs on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter from a Windows 8.1 Pro workstation? I've downloaded and installed the Remote Server Admin Tools for 8.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39296), but when I enable the Hyper-V manager, it tells me that I can't manage Hyper-V servers on 2K8 or 2K8R2. Related, the Failover Cluster Manager barfs with a similar error. How do I manage my old servers with my new workstation?

  With Adobe Framemaker XI, We could use Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition v3.1 to embed the serial number and pre-validate the sign-in option. An MSI was generated, and then an automatic installation could be performed, for enterprise deployments for example. It seems Adobe Application manager v3.1 is not working with Adobe Framemaker 12.   I am running Gnome 3 on Ubuntu 11.10. In the file manager, when I click a drive under 'Devices', Gnome 3 always pops up a dialog with the choices 'open with files' and 'eject' and then I need to click 'open with files' to get rid of that dialog. Is there a way to configure Gnome 3 not to do that? I am in file manager already, clicking a drive should show the content in the right pane. Why does it still ask me to 'open with files'?

  I have Windows Server 2008 r2 with static ip address on WAN interface. I connecting to the server from home from my laptop. Laptop at home is behind nat box. When i connecting to the server from home in Remote Desktop Session Manager i see in client status dialog a local ip address of client behind the nat box not WAN ip address of nat box. I suppose i must see the WAN ip address of the nat box in Remote Desktop Session Manager, isnt it?

  I'm waiting for Excel to finish a recalculation and I notice that the CPU usage as reported by Task Manager occasionally spikes to 51% or 52% on a Pentium 4 with hyper-threading. How is a single-threaded application like Excel 2003 doing this? Is it just a rounding/estimation error on the part of Task Manager? Or is it something to do with HT allocation i.e. I wouldn't see this happening on a genuine dual-core or dual-CPU machine?

• Roll up project-level tasks to the project collection portal in TFS2010

  I have a Project Collection setup in my TFS2010RC deployment. I have two Projects setup under this collection with their own task lists, which are populated with data. I fully expected the tasks from these individual projects to "roll up" and appear in the task list at the Project Collection level, but they do not. The Project Collection task list is empty. Basically, I'm looking to provide a view so a supervisor could see all tasks across projects quickly and easily. I'm sure I could write a reporting services report, but it seems like this is something so basic that it would have been included and it just need to be turned on or something. I'm sure I'm probably missing something really simple here. Thanks.
