  • Auto-creating User details with Grails and LDAP

    I'm using the Acegi Security plugin for Grails, and authentication via LDAP. The application logs show that on login, we can authenticate the user and get their roles via LDAP, but the login fails because the User Details cannot be found in the application's database. Is there a way to auto create and save a basic User Details domain object if one doesn't already exit?

  • C# application per-machine/per-user licensing

    Hi, I am about to implement a very basic licensing feature for my application. A serial number may be granted per-machine (or per-operating-system) or per-user (as for CAL in Windows Server: if my application is used by several users on one machine or if it is used by one user on several machines). For per-operating-system licensing, I use SerialNumber of Win32_OperatingSystem. For per-user licensing, I use: WindowsIdentity currentIdentity = WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent(); if (currentIdentity != null) { SecurityIdentifier userSid = currentIdentity.User.AccountDomainSid; Console.WriteLine(userSid); } A hash of an obtained OS serial number or SID is then stored in the database, associated with application serial; each time the program starts, it queries the server, sending hash of OS SN/SID and application serial. Is it a right thing to do it or is it completely wrong? Will it work on every Windows machine? (For example, using motherboard serial is wrong)

    Hello. I have two question: I'm developing an iPhone application and I want to know when it is the first time the application is executed. I want to check some extended permissions from facebook the first time. How can I know that? (first question) Another way to solved this problem is to store the extended permissions granted in some configuration file. I don't want to make visible this file through app settings icon.     Hi Everyone, i m developing an application in .NET mvc2. i m using aspnetMembershipProvider for User registration and related activities. i need some custom information about user that i stored in a separate table (sysUser for example) and linked it to aspnetUser table through foreign key. after Login i need to fetch user's credentials from sysUser table and push it to the session.     I'm developing an application using Java, Tomcat, Spring Framework and Spring LDAP 1.2.1 for LDAP access. According to our LDAP administrator, it is not possible to find out programmatically, if a specific user is locked out in the directory - the user is just not returned. This makes life difficult for me, as I need to identify locked out users. Is our administrator right, or is it possible somehow to find out, if a particular user is locked out? If yes, how?

  • Can Log4net have multiple appenders write to the same file?

    I'm using a RollingFileAppender to log some info to a file with a conversionPattern (in the web.config) that looks like this for the header of each log section: <conversionPattern value="%date - %property{userId} - %property{method}%newline--------------------------------%newline%message%newline%newline"/> I'd like to log details under this header as bullet points. I'm currently trying to use another RollingFileAppender that logs to the same file with a simple conversionPattern of just a dash, like this: <conversionPattern value="- %message%newline"/> But these messages aren't making it into the log file. I'm using Log.Info() for the header and Log.Debug() for the bullet points and filtering each appender on their respective log levels. Is what I'm trying to do possible? Or is there a better way to get header and detail information into a log file from log4net?

  • iPhone current user location coordinates showing as (0,0)

    I'm trying to get the users current latitude and longitude with this viewDidLoad method.   • Can I turn off an Apache Directive then turn it on in an include?

    I have a VirtualHost block that includes common configuration items, one directive is ProxyPreserveHost. Can I "procedurally" turn off ProxyPreserveHost for a Rewrite directive then have the include turn it back on? For example: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.blah.com ... ... ProxyPreserveHost off RewriteRule /somepath http://otherhost/otherpath [P] Include /path/to/file/turning-on-ProxyPreserveHost </VirtualHost> The otherhost is on a CDN and preserving the host is creating some name resolution issue that is not allowing the proxying of content in the host namespace. ProxyReserveHost is only allowed in a Server Config or VirtualHost. It doesn't look like I can selectively turn it off for the ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse directives (encapsulated in the proxy flag of mod_rewrite).

  • Rails: Multi-Step New User Signup Form (FSM?)

    I've read the "Create Multi-Step Wizard" in Advanced Rails Recipes. I've also read and re-read the documentation for the updated FSM I'm using called Workflow, and looked here and here. The Advanced Rails Recipe focuses on records (quizzes) that already exist, and doesn't cover creating new ones. The Workflow docs don't cover any code for controllers or views, so I've no idea what to do with all this model magic, and the last two links barely touch on implementation either. From the aforementioned resources, I have a good understanding of what a FSM in Rails is and how to play with it in the console or IRB, but I've got very little direction or understanding how to implement one into my Rails app. What I would like is this: a simple, multi-step user signup process. Step 1: User enters in their critical details (with validations). Step 2: User enters in their search criteria, for their profile (with validations). Step 3: User agrees to the Terms of Service (with validations). Step 4: User is greeted by a confirmation page, including a link that takes them to their newly created account. I'd also like full navigation between the steps and full capture (saves to the database) with each transition. Can someone please give me a clear implementation of something similar to this? I would LOVE an example app that includes a multi-step signup process where I can look at the code (FULL source code--models AND controllers and views) under the hood, but I've been unable to find anything like that.     This is what I see when I visit my web site. How do I instead get the Yellow Screen of Death so I know what the error is? I have GoDaddy shared hosting and I think the problem is that I don't have the correct MVC binaries in the /bin folder. I've got like 8 of each file--which version is which?!

  • Apache 13 permission denied in user's home directory

    Hi, My friend's website was working fine until he moved the document root from /var/www/xxx to /home/user/xxx Apache give 13 permission denied error messages when we try to access the site via a web browser. The site is configured as a virtual directory. All the Apache configurations were unchanged (except for the directory change). We tried to chmod 777 /home/user/xxx, chown apache /home/user/xxx. But they didn't work. Is there some kind of security feature set on the user's home directories? The server OS is CentOS (Godaddy VPS). Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
