w3 validation - Page 146

Need some help with my XML Schema.

I'm using Qt C++ and am reading in an XML file for data. I want to ensure the XML file contains valid elements, so I began to write an XML Schema to validate against (Qt doesn't support validating against a DTD). The problem is, I'm not sure if my Schema itself is valid, and I can't seem to find an actual XSD validator. I tried using the official w3c validator at http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv, but it's giving me blank output. Cross Browser Issue

My background is in WinForms programming and I'm trying to branch out a bit. I'm finding cross-browser issues a frustrating barrier in general, but have a specific one that I just can't seem to work through. I want to display an image and place a semi-transparent bar across the top and bottom. This isn't my ultimate goal, of course, but it demonstrates the problem I'm having ina a relatively short code fragment so let's go with it. The sample code below displays as intended in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. In IE8, the bar at the bottom doesn't appear at all. I've researched it for hours but just can't seem to come up with the solution. I'm sure this is some dumb rookie mistake, but gotta start somewhere. Problems with show hide jquery

Why do jQuery fadeIn() and fadeOut() seem quirky in this example?

I've been playing with jQuery in an ASP.NET project and am finding some odd behavior with the .fadeIn() and fadeOut() functions. In the below example, a click on the button (ID Button1) is supposed to cause both the span of text with ID Label1 and the the button with the ID TextBox1 to do the following things: Fade Out Change the text of both the text box and the span of text to be You clicked the button Fade In Based on the browser I'm using, I get 3 different scenarios, and each element functions differently in each situation. Here's what happens when I actually click the button: TextBox1: In IE8, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in In IE8 Compatibility View, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in. However, the text in the box looks a little different than before the button was clicked. In FireFox 3.5.8, the text box doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. Label1: In IE8, the label doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. In IE8 Compatibility View, the label does fade out, change text, and fades back in, but the text looks a little different than before the button was clicked. Am i not understanding the scopes of JSF? or are they not testing it properly? Further, if you remove c:forEach and replace it with ui:repeat, then it works fine. Waiting for replies to confirm whether it is bug or it is intentional to stop the programmers from using jstl?

xforms: how to prevent xxforms:default value from over-writing user input

I have a dropdown to display status, which can be Enabled(true) or Disabled(false). So I have set it in binding as follows. <xforms:bind nodeset="./status" xxforms:default="true()" /> When user chooses Disabled in the dropdown, the status should get saved as false. Here is the xml that gets saved when I save the form. <page> <file-name>StatusDisabled.xml</file-name> <status>false</false> </page> When I open the form in edit mode, this is the xml I get in the XML inspector widget. <page> <file-name>StatusDisabled.xml</file-name> <status>true></status> </page> Status gets set to true because of xxforms:default, even though the xml is saved with a false value for status. How can I fix this? Simple PHP upload form not working

Difference between SQL 2005 and SQL 2008 for inserting multiple rows with XML

I am using the following SQL code for inserting multiple rows of data in a table. The data is passed to the stored procedure using an XML variable : INSERT INTO MyTable SELECT SampleTime = T.Item.value('SampleTime[1]', 'datetime'), Volume1 = T.Item.value('Volume1[1]', 'float'), Volume2 = T.Item.value('Volume2[1]', 'float') FROM @xml.nodes('//Root/MyRecord') T(item) I have a whole bunch of unit tests to verify that I am inserting the right information, the right number of records, etc.. when I call the stored procedure. All fine and dandy - that is, until we began to monkey around with the compatibility level of the database. The code above worked beautifully as long as we kept the compatibility level of the DB at 90 (SQL 2005). When we set the compatibility level at 100 (SQL 2008), the unit tests failed, because the stored procedure using the code above times out. The unit tests are dropping the database, re-creating it from scripts, and running the tests on the brand new DB, so it's not - I think - a question of the 'old compatibility level' sticking around. Using the SQL Management studio, I made up a quick test SQL script. Using the same XML chunk, I alter the DB compat level , truncate the table, then use the code above to insert 650 rows. When the level is 90 (SQL 2005), it runs in milliseconds. When the level is 100 (SQL 2008) it sometimes takes over a minute, sometimes runs in milliseconds. I'd appreciate any insight anyone might have into that. EDIT The script takes over a minute to run with my actual data, which has more rows than I show here, is a real table, and has an index. I am working on designing an IT Asset database. Here I am working on a page used to view details on a specific asset determined by an asset id. Here I grab $id from $_GET["id"]; When $id is null, the page does not load. When $id does not match any entry within the database, the page loads but no asset table is printed. [BEGINNER] Javascript Pop Ups

Hey All, My boss has asked for a page that will not change to have two timed pop ups load. I have found code and edited it to what I had thought it should do, but it is only loading the last onLoad event. I am a designer and I have helped with making webpages, but Javascript is so far outside of what I can understand. Styling definition lists - IE clear:both bug

Hi guys, I'm trying to style a definition list properly. So far I've got the style that I wanted in Firefox 3.5 and IE 8 but I couldn't get IE6 and IE7 to behave properly... I've already tried any kind of hack and trickery I could possibly think of. It seems like the "clear:both" on the dt doesn't work in IE<=7... Below is the "test page" that I'm using. Am i not understanding the scopes of JSF? or are they not testing it properly? Further, if you remove c:forEach and replace it with ui:repeat, then it works fine. Waiting for replies to confirm whether it is bug or it is intentional to stop the programmers from using jstl?

Ensuring a divs content has changed over time in Selenium

I have a div that contains a slideshow. ( http://film.robinhoodtax.org/issues/education ) I am using Selenium to test it. So far I have been using the HTML/Selenium script below to validate that the slideshow is actually working. But my assertEval is failing. How can I correctly detect the slideshow and make sure it is moving?. How to use JAXB to process messages from two separate schemas (with same rootelement name)

Hi We have a client that is sending xml messages that are produced from two separate schemas. We would like to process them in a single application, since the content is related. We cannot modify the client's schema that they are using to produce the XML messages... We can modify our own copies of the two schema (or binding.jxb) -- if it helps -- in order to enable our JAXB processing of messages created from the two separate schemas. Unfortunately, both schemas have the same root element name (see below). Iteration, or copying in XSL, based on a count. How do I do it?

I'm trying to create an inventory list (tab-delimited text, for the output) from XML data. The catch is, I need to take the line that I created, and list it multiple times (iterate ???), based on a number found in the XML. So, from the XML below: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <library> <aisle label="AA"> <row>bb</row> <shelf>a</shelf> <books>4</books> </aisle> <aisle label="BB"> <row>cc</row> <shelf>d</shelf> <books>3</books> </aisle> </library> I need to take the value found in "books", and then copy the text line that number of times. The result looking like this: Aisle Row Shelf Titles AA bb a AA bb a AA bb a AA bb a BB cc d BB cc d BB cc d So that the inventory taker, can then write in the titles found on each shelf.
