  • Getting PHP to work with apache to run .php files through browser

    I have VPS running Debian 5.0 (I think) and I would like to get it to run PHP files. I was told it needed to be configured with Apache. I tried entering the command apt-get install apache2 php5 libapache2-mod-php5. But there was no change. How can I fix this?

  • Mercurial browser on Windows 2003 takes several refreshes before displaying repositories

    When attempt to browse my Mercurial repositories it usually takes several refreshes before the repository list is displayed. The configuration is as follows: Windows Server 2003 (Dedicated machine hosted by http://www.server4you.com/. Site has anonymous password protection with self-signed SSL. Mercurial 1.5.3 Python 2.6.5 Python for Windows 32 extensions 214 py2.6 isapi-wsgi 0.4.2 The repositories are being served via ISAPI using the standard hgwebdir_wspi.py file (copy to follow). Other problems with the repository server: Before doing a clone/push/etc I have to browse the repositories first otherwise hg on my local machine can not locate the site. I have one a repository with a large changeset that after a minute or so throw error "abort: error: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". Will be asking another question for this problem.   • Can Windows logoff events be tracked?

    I'm working on an application to track network user logon/logoff events in an Active Directory domain; the application will work by auditing security logs on domain controllers. Auditing logon events can get somewhat tricky, but it can succesfully be done. My problem: how can I track logoff events? Based on some research I've done, it looks like these events are only logged locally on workstations, but not on DCs; also, the "lastLogoff" attribute exists on AD user objects, but it's not actually used by anyone. This is a very specific question: is something logged on DCs when a user logs off from a domain workstation? To clarify: I'm not intereseted in other auditing mehods, I can't deploy logon/logoff scripts and I can't install anything anywhere; I also know opened and closed network sessions are logged, but this is not what I'm looking for. I need to audit interactive logons and logoffs to domain workstations, and I can do this by only reading domain controllers security logs; reading each workstation's local event logs is out of question. If this can't be done, it's ok; but I need a clear answer on that. Can this be done? If yes, how?

  • Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.4 getting connection reset errors in the browser

    In the weekend I upgraded my development web server to Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.4. In my web application which was previously working great on Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.3 it now starts getting these messages saying the "connection was reset" in Firefox. See screenshot. I am connecting to the linux machine via local LAN. I'm assuming it might be something to do with the new version of Apache or PHP, or the new LAMP stack which I downloaded from BitNami? It would seem to happen every 5-10 requests and throw this error, perhaps more likely to trigger it is if I send a POST request from a page. Is it timing out the script or something? These are just basic dynamic pages I'm loading and they worked perfectly in Apache 2.2 and PHP5.3. Here are my httpd.conf and PHP.ini if that has any clues. Any ideas? Any help much appreciated.

  • Browser pollution / Pop Up request

    From time to time, when I browse the internet , after entering a site's URL , I get a warning message that a pop up has been blocked , then a question mark and a set of numbers appends itself after the URL. It doesn't matter what site I want to navigate to, it can be a site I have developed, a well know site like drupal.org for instance. Here's what happens: enter url: example.com warning: pop up blocked url change to: example.com/?1347628900 After checking the pop up ( which of course turns out to be an unwanted ad ), i deducted that the request and the pop up were linked. This has never happened to me before, I'm not sure how this got started, how can I get rid of this? Clearing the cache , cookies etc... doesn't solve the issue. I'm using a Macbook Pro OS10.6.7 , Chrome 13.0.782.24 beta. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Messages were transferred in to Exchange by copying them from the old Apple Xserve, accessed using IMAP. So my question, finally: 1. Is there any way to get the IMAP Exchange connector to rebuild its cache of messages since it doesn't seem to be pulling them directly from the MAPI store? 2.   • Win-XP Browsers Hang on page load - (waiting for...)

    Hello, I’m having problems with my browsers hanging on loading pages on my desktop machine. I’m using Windows XP Pro with SP3 and fully updated except for IE 8. All three of my browsers, IE 7, Chrome and Firefox are having the same problems. Pages are not being loaded and are hanging on “waiting for …”. The browsers are waiting for the page being loaded or ad servers. Sometimes a page will load but the loading graphic continues to be displayed as if the page were still loading when the page appears to be fully loaded. The problem is bad enough that I can’t really use any of my browsers. I can eventually get most pages to load by stopping and restarting the page load. I have DSL modem with a wireless router and I have been able to eliminate the modem and router from being the source of my problem. My laptop doesn’t have any problems even when hardwired to the router and with the wireless connection disabled. I deleted the NIC and let XP re-install. Also tried a different network cable. Tried the same router port used in the laptop test. One clue that may be important is that I can’t connect to my router using the desktop machine…the page hangs while trying to connect. I can ping the router and I can quickly connect to the router using the laptop. I also can’t use the Windows update process – the page never fully loads. The problem affects other user accounts and even happens in safe mode. I am convinced the problem is with part of the O/S…some layer able to affect all of the browsers. The purpose of this post is to see if anyone has some ideas before I do a XP repair. I have done quite a bit of trouble-shooting: Ran a full anti-virus scan with AVG – no problems. Ran full scans with Spybot, MalwareBytes and Sophos anti-rootkit – no problems. Ran Chkdsk with both options checked. Ran Disk Clean up Defragged RE-installed IE7 Cleared all the browser caches Ran Ccleaner (registry tool) Ran HijackThis – nothing unusual (problem happens in safe mode too) Ran Process Explorer – no unusual processes Used System Restore and fell back several days – no change in the problem Booted to last known good configuration – no change in the problem Ran MicrosoftFixit50199.msi – no change in the problem Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated…I’m not looking forward to doing a repair on XP. Or in particular, I can't get these things: I really can't get the mechanism of action of LDAP and its role. Should I think of Active Directory LDS as of its superset? What're the other roles of AD and why this term is nearly a synonym of term "domain"? What's the role of LDAP in the remote login sequence? Does it store roaming user profiles? Does it store anything else? How it is called (are there any upper-level or lower-level services that use it in the course of NetLogon)? How do I join a domain. On the client machine I just use the Domain Controller admin credentials, but how do I prepare the Domain Controller for a new machine to join it. What's that deal of Machine trust accounts? How it is used? Suppose, I've just configured a machine to join a domain, created its machine trust, added its data to the domain controller. How would that machine find WINS server to query it for Domain Controller NetBIOS name? Does any computer name, ending with <1C type, correspond to domain controller? In what cases Kerberos and LM/NTLM are used for authentication? Where are password hashes stored in, say, Windows2000 domain controller? Right in the registry? What is SAM - is it a service, responsible for authentication and sending/storing those passwords and accompanying information, such as groups policies etc.? Who calls it? Does it use Active Directory? What's the role of NetBIOS except by name service? Can you exemplify a scenario of its usage as a "datagram distribution service for connectionless communication" or "session service for connection-oriented communication"? All I would need to do would be to enter first letter and it would pick up the rest. Now it has stopped doing this. I can still type the whole login (if I remember it) and the password and get in.     I'm remotely investigating issue with my friend's WIN XP computer. The browsers (Chrome and IE) won't show any pages but message with err_connection_reset in details. I've tried to perform "telnet google.com 80" and send there "HEAD / HTTP/1.0" from console and everything went fine, but browsers refused to give me anything. I've checked for presence of firewalls and proxy servers in the settings, but nothing seems to be there. What else to check?

    I have a bunch of home movies that don't have useful filenames because they came straight off the camera. (I'm using Vista 64, by the way.) Picasa is pretty good for browsing through them and watching them, but it doesn't use my video card for rendering the videos. My CPU gets pegged at max usage, and full screen barely works. Windows Media Player or Quicktime works fine. Is there another application (like Picasa) that can be used for browsing through movies that both uses my video card and shows thumbnails of all the movies in my collection? I'd rather have something nicer than Windows Explorer. (The movies are h.264 AAC 1280x720.)

    I've recently upgraded from XP Pro to Windows7 Pro - In XP Pro (and previous OS versions) you could move Thumbnails around in a window and they would snap/shuffle up/re-order themselves and be viewable as a slide show - it was unbelievably useful - I used it EVERY day, Windows 7 doesn't do this? Is there some setting I can change or is it just not there anymore? I use it for organising photo libraries for archiving - I haven't found any other way of doing this that suits my work. Does anyone know a way to get this feature back? Thanks

    The question says it all. Inside of the file explorer under Windows XP, I lost all menu items from the top, as well as the toolbars. And right-clicking only gives me the file/directory context menu, nothing to restore the toolbar or the menu. Help. I don't use Windows so much (I much prefer linux), so I don't know all the latest tricks and hacks. Merci :-)
