  • 10 gigabit or 1 gigabit switch

    We are planning to move mysql to dedicated box. At this moment we have web servers and mysql is running on each. Question is: cheaper is to buy 10G switch and put 10G network card into mysql server. Or buy normal gigabit switch and connect mysql box to switch with multiple network cables. In 1G scenario then we give each web server different mysql IP address. I don't think, that mysql box with one 1G link is enough to to satisfy multiple web box mysql traffic. At this moment we have 3 servers witch are running mysql/web. Plan is to add fourth server for mysql only. Thanks. Edit: if we buy 1G switch with mini-GBIC ports. Can we put in mini-GBIC 10G connectors and then connect mysql box to that port?

  • iPhone "touchesBegan" and "touchesMoved" message ... do not move to centre of touch

    I am modifying the "MoveMe" example from the apple web site. When I get the "touchesMoved" message I move the centre of the target view to the centre of the touch. Is there a way that when the touch starts ("touchesBegan" message) I can remember the offset from the target view and keep that offset. Let me know if this is hard to understand and I will try to explain it a bit better.

  • Why don't all XSLT templates get executed at once?

    Refer to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1613454/retrieving-one-element-and-filter-by-another In the above linked posting, I don't understand why the two template blocks don't get executed upon in the incoming XML at the same time. As far I can can see, the XSL risks the second template executing for every Document element whether it is called with apply-templates or not. Could someone explain this to my stifled brain, please?     The pattern is "dd-MM-yyyy" I think the string "01-01-2010mwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" does not satisfy the pattern, but the following code shows the contrary.     I am planning to deploy a NetFlow server (using NfSen/NfDump) for harvesting data from Cisco devices; Are there standard calculations or guidelines I can use to calculate my server requirements, specifically I need to plan for storage. Is there a way of knowing how much data I will collect per day for example, given N flows? Lets say one device has 10k flows per day, this is typically XYZ MBs, so I can scale this up? If not, how many flows are you guys and girls recording per day, and how much data is this generating? Hopefully we can generate an estimate from everyone else's figures! P.S. If it makes a difference, I'll be collecting from <= 50 devices max (non more than 50Mbps each).

  • Compile/use unrar C++ source for iphone app?

    Writing an app that will include the ability to decompress zip and rar files. I think I'm OK on how to handle the .zips but .rars seem a little more trouble. I noticed that rarlabs has source available but it's C++. Is there a way to compile, wrap or otherwise use this code within an iPhone app?   • Apache configuration: choose a site to display according to visitor's IP address

    Hi all. I would like to set a special configuration in our apache web server. I would like to display sites to the users according their IP addresses. We plan to upgrade our web sites. During the upgrade we'll put a maintenance site: so all the users which will connect to our web sites will get this site. but in order to test the upgrade i need to set apache to let only my IP address to access to asked site. If my IP address is a.b.c.d and if i ask for test_dot_com i want to see it. but all other users, having a different IP address, should get the maintenane site even if they look for test_dot_com. Is there a way to do this? PS: sorry As i'm a new user i can't use more than one link. so test_dot_com = test.com Thank you.

  • Are periodic full backups really necessary on an incremental backup setup?

    I intend to use an old computer I have as a remote backup server for myself and a few other people. We are all geographically separated, and the plan is to do incremental daily backups using rsync and ssh. My original idea was to make one initial full backup then never again have to deal with the overhead of doing it, and from that moment on only copy the files changed since the last backup. I've been told that this could be bad, but I fail to understand why. Since each snapshot is comprised of hard links to the unchanged files plus the original changed ones, isn't it going to be identical to a new full backup? Why would I want to make another full backup?

    I installed both Turtoise SVN and SubWeaver, I now have a SubWeaver drop down menu on the top of dreamweaver. I read a lot of the help files which basically explains how the system works and explains Copy-Modify-Merge.     My group inherited several 2008 R2 servers with single 70GB RAID 1 boot/system disks. No other disks in the servers. We need larger boot / system disk. Plan is : to replace one disk with new 500 GB drive wait for resync replace other smaller disk with 2nd 500 GB drive wait for resysnc Now I should have 500 GB RAID 1 with original 70 GB partition Then I would like to extend the 70 GB partition to 200 GB and add D: drive partition with remaining 300 GB Can the above be done using Windows Disk Management and / or Windows DiskPart ?
