  We're stuck with using buffers on the SocketAsyncEventArgs object. With the old socket method we'd cast our state object, like this: clientState cs = (clientState)asyncResult.AsyncState; However, the 3.5 framework is different. With have strings arriving from the client in chunks and we can't seem to work out how the buffers work so we can process an entire string when we find a char3. However, this is not the case, the message is logged twice (one in each log file). Looks like the ERROR logging level for the parent category is not taken into consideration when the event is sent as part of additivity... is my observation correct or am I missing something ? how should I alter the configuration in order to achieve only ERROR level loggings in server.log ? thanks, GBa.

  I want my Python script to be able to read Unicode command line arguments in Windows. But it appears that sys.argv is a string encoded in some local encoding, rather than Unicode. How can I read the command line in full Unicode? Example code: argv.py import sys first_arg = sys.argv[1] print first_arg print type(first_arg) print first_arg.encode("hex") print open(first_arg) On my PC set up for Japanese code page, I get: C:\temp>argv.py "PC·??????08.09.24.doc" PC·??????08.09.24.doc <type 'str'> 50438145835c83748367905c90bf8f9130382e30392e32342e646f63 <open file 'PC·??????08.09.24.doc', mode 'r' at 0x00917D90> That's Shift-JIS encoded I believe, and it "works" for that filename. But it breaks for filenames with characters that aren't in the Shift-JIS character set—the final "open" call fails: C:\temp>argv.py Jörgen.txt Jorgen.txt <type 'str'> 4a6f7267656e2e747874 Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\temp\argv.py", line 7, in <module> print open(first_arg) IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'Jorgen.txt' Note—I'm talking about Python 2.x, not Python 3.0. I've found that Python 3.0 gives sys.argv as proper Unicode. But it's a bit early yet to transition to Python 3.0 (due to lack of 3rd party library support). Update: A few answers have said I should decode according to whatever the sys.argv is encoded in. The problem with that is that it's not full Unicode, so some characters are not representable. Here's the use case that gives me grief: I have enabled drag-and-drop of files onto .py files in Windows Explorer. I have file names with all sorts of characters, including some not in the system default code page. My Python script doesn't get the right Unicode filenames passed to it via sys.argv in all cases, when the characters aren't representable in the current code page encoding. There is certainly some Windows API to read the command line with full Unicode (and Python 3.0 does it). I assume the Python 2.x interpreter is not using it.

• Android -- How to position View off-screen?

  Hello all, I'm trying to animate a simple ImageView in my application and I want it to slide in from the bottom of the screen and come to a resting position where the top 50px of the view is off the top of the screen (e.g. the final position of the ImageView should be -50px in X). I've tried to use the AbsoluteLayout to do this, but this actually cuts off the top 50px of the ImageView such that the top 50px is never rendered. I need to have the top 50px of the ImageView visible/rendered while it's animating and then simply have it come to a rest slightly off-screen. I hope I've explained that well enough. • CSS for toolbar with UI Slider centered between left and right buttons

  I'm attempting to create a 100% width toolbar. This toolbar needs to have a variable number of buttons aligned to the left side, as well as a variable number of buttons aligned to the right. That's the easy part. But now I want to put a jQuery UI slider in the center that takes up the full remaining space between the buttons on the left and the buttons on the right. I'm having troubles figuring out a pure-CSS way of doing this. I've tried something like below, but I really don't want to have fixed percentage widths. If there is only one button on the left and one on the right, then I want the centered slider to take the full space between them, not just 33% of the full width. .toolbar {width: 100%;} .toolbar .toolbar-left {float: left;width: 33%;} .toolbar .toolbar-right {float: right;width: 33%;} .toolbar .toolbar-center {margin: 0 auto;width: 33%;} I'm using UI Buttons for my buttons and styling -- see an example. In that example, there is a toolbar that is the full width of the page. Imagine the two right most sets of buttons being aligned to the right of the toolbar. Then in the middle empty space, I want to put a UI Slider, and use all the space between buttons (minus some padding). Is there a way to do this with CSS, or will I need to whip up some javascript to position things properly?

  I've got an image on the page (class='image') within the div (class='galleria_wrapper') and want to place a caption (class='caption') at the lower right corner under that image. The image could be vertical or horizontal, and making a fixed padding-right value let's say .caption<{float:right;padding-top:5px;padding-right:90px;} is not working for one or another. I need to switch on the fly padding-right value depending on horizontal or vertical image is currently on the page. I can theoretically access image's width through document.getElementByName('image').width although don't understand where to put that code. So, I probably need something like that: document.getElementByClass('caption').padding-right = (document.getElementByName('galleria_wrapper').width - document.getElementByName('image').width)/2 Where do I put this code? I do have that in my css file: .caption{float:right;padding-top:5px;} which places the caption below the image, but to far to the right (div 'galleria_wrapper' is wider than most of the images supposed to be displayed within that area). I have an img tag in the html: <img src=image title='this is caption' /></li> ...and some JavaScript which makes title displayed styled by the "caption" css definition. How do I assign variable value for the padding-right without in-advance knowledge of particular image's width?

  I am using csv.DictWriter to output csv files from a set of dictionaries. I use the following function: def dictlist2file(dictrows, filename, fieldnames, delimiter='\t', lineterminator='\n'): out_f = open(filename, 'w') # Write out header header = delimiter.join(fieldnames) + lineterminator out_f.write(header) # Write out dictionary data = csv.DictWriter(out_f, fieldnames, delimiter=delimiter, lineterminator=lineterminator) data.writerows(dictrows) out_f.close() where dictrows is a list of dictionaries, and fieldnames provides the headers that should be serialized to file. Some of the values in my dictionary list (dictrows) are numeric -- e.g. floats, and I'd like to specify the formatting of these. For example, I might want floats to be serialized with "%.2f" rather than full precision. Ideally, I'd like to specify some kind of mapping that says how to format each type, e.g. {float: "%.2f"} that says that if you see a float, format it with %.2f. Is there an easy way to do this? I don't want to subclass DictWriter or anything complicated like that -- this seems like very generic functionality. How can this be done? The only other solution I can think of is: instead of messing with the formatting of DictWriter, just use the decimal package to specify the decimal precision of floats to be %.2 which will cause to be serialized as such. • android app working on simulator but not on phone

  i have this app that i developed and it works great on the simulator with no errors what so ever. but the moment i try to run the same on the phone for testing, the app crashes stating filenotfoundexception. it says the file /res/drawable/divider_horizontal.9.png is missing. but actually speaking, i have never referenced that file through my code. i believe its a system/os file that is unavailable. i have a custom list view, i guess its the divider there... could somebody please suggest what is wrong here. i believe this is a similar issue discussed here..but i am unable to make • Strange xml/html accent issue

  I have an XML file that contains a message with html tags in it. The XML file is read by a java class that mails it to people. When the mail is received, the accents do not show. For example é doesn't show. I have tried &eacute; in the xml but it gives an error in eclipse saying that the entity has not been declared. I also tried simply inserting &#233; but that shows nothing in the final output. The 3rd thing I tried was using <![CDATA[é]]> but that broke the parser since it didn't output anything after it. However I noticed something weird. When i put something like this in the xml and added UTF-16 encoding <message>text bla bla blaa é&lt; it did ouput the é at the end like this bla bla blaa blaa é. EDIT <message>text bla bla blaa éé&lt; outputs ?é or just one é The file looks something like this: <?xml version="1.0"? encoding="UTF-16"> <message> &lt;b&gt;hello é &lt;/b&gt; </message> </xml> What gives?

• Binary to strings as binary? C #/.NET

  Redis keys are binary safe. I'd like to mess around and put binary into redis using C#. My client of choice doesn't support writing binary keys it uses keys and it make sense. However i am just fooling around so tell me how i can do this. How do i convert a raw byte[] into a string? At first i was thinking about converting a byte[] to a utf8 string however unicode has some checks to see if its valid or not. So raw binary should fail. Actually i tried it out. Instead of failing i got a strange result. My main question is how do i convert a raw byte[] to the equivalent string? • Why isn't the background image showing up on my webpage?

  okay, so I'm trying to set up a webpage with a div wrapping two other divs, and the wrapper div has a background, and the other two are transparent.
