• ASP.NET MVC - Add XHTML into validation error messages

  Hi, Just starting with ASP.Net MVC and have hit a bit of a snag regarding validation messages. I've a custom validation attribute assigned to my class validate several properties on my model. When this validation fails, we'd like the error message to contain XHTML mark-up, including a link to help page, (this was done in the original WebForms project as a ASP:Panel). At the moment the XHTML tags such as "< a ", in the ErrorMessage are being rendered to the screen. Is there any way to get the ValidationSummary to render the XHTML markup correctly? Or is there a better way to handle this kind of validation? Thanks

• How do I start a XUL Runner application maximized?

  I've started developing my first app with XUL and I've run into a problem that I can't seem to solve. All I want to do is have my app start maximized. I've set the sizemode attribute to maximized on my top level window element but that has no effect. My prefs.js file has the following line: pref("toolkit.defaultChromeFeatures", "chrome,centerscreen,menubar,resizable,status,toolbar,scrollbars"); This also does not work. My window appears and it only has a close button (X) and does not have a minimize or maximize button. Any ideas???

• Set date format in ruby model (sinatra/datamapper)

  Hi, I have a ruby model that contains a date attribue which I'd like to be able to pass in as a parameter in the format dd/MM/yyyy. However, my sqlite3 db stores the data in yyyy-MM-dd format so when a date like 20/10/2010 gets passed in, it will not be read to the database. I am using the Sinatra framework and using haml for the markup creation. Do I need to write a helper that takes the date string and converts it to the correct format for the db? Or can I set a format type on the models attribute? Thanks.

• jQuery Validation Plugin + equalTo Not Working

  Hey guys, Here is what I am currently using to attempt to validate a form. When I press submit with no values entered into the form, I get the error messages for each of the inputs as expected. However, no matter what I put in newpassword2 or newemail2 they never 'pass' validation. I've tried everything from copy and paste to making them one letter each to no success. Perhaps I am not using the equalTo attribute correctly... I've also verified that all the names of the selectors agree with the input id's on the form. Also, all of the inputs are contained within the form, so there aren't any outside of the form tags (I read that was an issue with someone else). $(document).ready(function() { $("#account_data").validate({ rules: { newpassword1: { required: true }, newpassword2: { equalTo: "#newpassword1" }, newemail1: { required: true, email: true }, newemail2: { equalTo: "#newemail1" } } }); }); Any help would be extremely appreciated! • How to combine 2 or more querysets in a Django view?

  Hi, I am trying to build the search for a Django site I am building, and in the search I am searching in 3 different models. And to get pagination on the search result list I would like to use a generic object_list view to display the results. But to do that i have to merge 3 querysets into one. How can i do that? Ive tried this: result_list = [] page_list = Page.objects.filter(Q(title__icontains=cleaned_search_term) | Q(body__icontains=cleaned_search_term)) article_list = Article.objects.filter(Q(title__icontains=cleaned_search_term) | Q(body__icontains=cleaned_search_term) | Q(tags__icontains=cleaned_search_term)) post_list = Post.objects.filter(Q(title__icontains=cleaned_search_term) | Q(body__icontains=cleaned_search_term) | Q(tags__icontains=cleaned_search_term)) for x in page_list: result_list.append(x) for x in article_list: result_list.append(x) for x in post_list: result_list.append(x) return object_list(request, queryset=result_list, template_object_name='result', paginate_by=10, extra_context={'search_term': search_term}, template_name="search/result_list.html") But this doesnt work I get an error when i try to use that list in the generic view. The list is missing the clone attribute. Anybody know how i can merge the three lists, page_list, article_list and post_list?

I set up everything according to http://wcfextras.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=HowToUse&referringTitle=Home My WCF client works but throws NullReferenceException on both: client.InnerChannel.SetHeader("myHeader", new local.Header()); and var header = client.InnerChannel.GetHeader<local.Header>("myHeader"); I wonder if web.config element <wsdlExtensions location="noidea" singleFile="True"/> might cause a problem because I don't know what type in location attribute. I simply tried to type service address but it didn't fix anything.

However, the xDate attribute can only store dates, e.g. dd/MM/yyyy. How do I refactor the above to store a full date object using just one field, i.e. dd/MM/yyyy HH24:mm?

• Making sure unsigned int/long always execute in checked context in C#

  Has anyone found it strange that the default context for uint and ulong is unchecked rather than checked considering that they are meant to represent values that can never be negative? So if some code is trying to violate that constraint it seems to me the natural and preferred behaviour would be to throw an exception rather than returning the max value instead (which can easily leave important pieces of data in an invalid state and impossible to revert..). Is there an existing attribute which can be applied to either class/assembly so that it always performs arithmetic operations in a checked context? I was thinking of writing one myself (as an aspect using PostSharp) but would be great if there's one already. Many thanks,

  I have a dimension (SiteItem) has two important facts: perUserClicks perBrowserClicks however, within this dimension, I have groups of dimensions based on an attribute column (let's call the groups AboveFoldItems, LeftNavItems, OnTheFlyItems, etc.) each have more facts that are specific to that group: AboveFoldItems: eyeTime, loadTime LeftNavItems: mouseOverTime OnTheFlyItems: doesn't have any extra, but may in the future Is the following fact table schema ok? DateKey SessionKey SiteItemKey perUserClicks perBrowserClicks eyeTime loadTime mouseOverTime It seems a little wasteful since only some columns pertain to some dimension keys (the irrelevant facts are left NULL). But... this seems like it would be a common problem, so there should be a common solution for this, right?

How can I give these dynamically create mc's a name or custom property? ideally I would like to use a custom property called portfolio.id but would use the name property or another default property if it works.

  I have a Visual Studio Setup project and have followed the steps mentioned in this link to load the Shared Add-in Support Update for the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB908002) to the prerequisites list. The entry appears but there is this following warning shown No 'HomeSite' attribute has been provided for 'Shared Add-in Support Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB908002)', so the package will be published to the same location as the bootstrapper. I use the Download component from the component vendor's website option. How do I set a homesite for this update so that the update is directly downloaded and installed. I do not want to distribute the update along with my setup. Thanks

  I have htmlAttributes generated - originally for the purpose of creating a link with the attribute using Html.ActionLink. Now, based on some condition, I would like to create a <span> tag instead and put the attributes in there. Is there anyway it can be done easily ? Eg: something like: <span <%= htmlAttributes.Unpack() %> > Some txt </span> OR <%= Html.SpanTag("Some txt", htmlAttributes) %> OR anything similar without wresling too much with the already generated htmlAttribues? • Table Disobeys W3C Box Model, Ie8 Ignores Fixed Table Width !

  Hi, I'm having hard time with tables and column widths. Update: I'm using XHTML Strict 1.0. The page is: http://www.pro-turk.net/try The first problem I have is, I have a column with a fixed width of 100px and 4px padding, but it disobeys my padding depending on the value. The column width (as the distance between two borders according to W3C Box Model) is 156 px even if padding is 0 or 4. Only the position of the text changes. According to W3C Box Model ( available at www.pro-turk.net/box_model.png ), borders and paddings aren't included in WIDTH attribute, so why does it render wrongly ? The second problem is, when you look the page I gave with IE8, the first cell in the second row has 150px fixed width, but ie shows it about 50% of the total table width regardless of what i say.

  I am trying to output a XML file using Python and lxml However, I notice one thing that if a tag has no text, it does not close itself. An example of this would be: root = etree.Element('document') rootTree = etree.ElementTree(root) firstChild = etree.SubElement(root, 'test') The output of this is: <document> <test/> </document I want the output to be: <document> <test> </test> </document> So basically I want to close a tag which has no text, but is used to the attribute value. How do I do that? And also, what is such a tag called? I would have Googled it, but I don't know how to search for it.

• MySQL triggers cannot update rows in same table the trigger is assigned to. Suggested workaround?

  MySQL doesn't currently support updating rows in the same table the trigger is assigned to since the call could become recursive. Does anyone have suggestions on a good workaround/alternative? Right now my plan is to call a stored procedure that performs the logic I really wanted in a trigger, but I'd love to hear how others have gotten around this limitation. Edit: A little more background as requested. I have a table that stores product attribute assignments. When a new parent product record is inserted, I'd like the trigger to perform a corresponding insert in the same table for each child record. This denormalization is necessary for performance. MySQL doesn't support this and throws: Can't update table 'mytable' in stored function/trigger because it is already used by statement which invoked this stored function/trigger. A long discussion on the issue on the MySQL forums basically lead to: Use a stored proc, which is what I went with for now. Thanks in advance!

  Hi, It will get a error to define a dtd as follow: <!ELEMENT line (property*)> <!ATTLIST line showType (1|?|+|*) "1" > The error: The name token is required in the enumerated type list for the "showType" attribute declaration. It seems the value can't be special characters,such as "?","+","*". To change the characters to Latin-1 characters, like "& #42;"(add a blank before '#') , get the same error. I've seen many articles, that show example with IAsyncResult and BeginMyWebServiceMethod and EndMyWebServiceMethod, some using ThreadPool etc. I would just like to know what is the simplest way to make an asynchronous web service method call (ideally without having to implement other classes, if possible). To me it should be as simple as adding an attribute to the method (but I think that is wishful thinking), e.g. public SomeWebService : WebService { [Asynchronous] public static bool SomeCheck() { // code } } I'm open to using WCF if that makes it easier (we converted to ASP.NET 3.5 around Christmas time). Once I have the asynchronous web service created, what is the best way to call it from client-side script? Via jQuery's $ajax or ASP.NET's auto generated class for a web service that is script method?

• Getting value from key pair value into appended property using jQuery

  How do I get the value from a key pair value into the rel property of an anchor tag? When I split the code to put the value in the correct place it doesn't work, the end of the a tag would appear on screen instead value wouldn't be applied. When I look at the resulting code in console in Firebug the rel and href swapped order so the rel is first. The 'key' should be and is in the correct location but the 'value' needs to be applied to the rel attribute. • Cast/initialize submodels of a Backbone Model

  I think I have a pretty simple problem that is just pretty difficult to word and therefore hard to find a solution for. Setup: PathCollection is a Backbone.Collection of Paths Path is a Backbone.Model which contains NodeCollection (which is a Backbone.Collection) and EdgeCollection (which is a Backbone.Collection). When I fetch PathCollection paths = new PathCollection() paths.fetch() obviously, Paths get instantiated. However, I'm missing the spot where I can allow a Path to instantiate its submodels from the attribute hashes. I can't really use parse, right? Basically im looking for the entry point for a model when its instantiated and set with attributes. I feel like there must be some convention for it.

  Hello, I've been thinking for a while on what to store at the Project Settings, objects or numeric/string representations of those objects to set a rule and avoid thinking on this at the future so I want to take the best approach. On one side storing object representations grants you that what is stored is valid and saves you from doing conversions each time you access them. You only need objects with the attribute. At the other side storing the numeric/string representation of an object eases the editing of the setting because at the end the user will be entering numeric or string information. What do you do with this issue?

  Hi Stack Overflow users, I've encountered a frustrating problem, can't find the answer to it. Yesterday I was trying to find a way to HIDE a subprocess.Popen. So for example, if i was opening the cmd. I would like it to be hidden, permanently. I found this code: kwargs = {} if subprocess.mswindows: su = subprocess.STARTUPINFO() su.dwFlags |= subprocess.STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW su.wShowWindow = subprocess.SW_HIDE kwargs['startupinfo'] = su subprocess.Popen("cmd.exe", **kwargs) It worked like a charm! But today, for reasons I don't need to get into, I had to reinstall python 3 (32bit) Now, when I run my program I get this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Python31\hello.py", line 7, in <module> su.dwFlags |= subprocess.STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW' I'm using 32bit, python3.1.3 ... just like before. If you have any clues/alternatives PLEASE post, thanks. NOTE: I am looking for a SHORT method to hide the app, not like two pages of code please
