  We need to configure LDAP for login to different servers and applications. We have created all users and different groups as follows: dn: dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local ou: people dn: uid=geo,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: uid=user,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: cn=server,ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local member: uid=geo,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: cn=website,ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local member: uid=user,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local We need scenario in such a way that the users that are member of server need only login to server (that is geo) and users that are member of website need only login to websites (That is user “user”). Please let me know how we can configure it. For login site we tried by giving DN as cn=website,ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local and Login Attribute as uid and also member but it is not working.   well, since greasemonkey cant read/write files from local hard disk. I've heard people suggesting Google gears but i've no idea obout gears :( So, what i've decided is to add a script type="text/javascript" src="file:///c:/test.js"/script Now, this test will use FileSystemObject to read/write file. Since, the "file:///c:/test.js" is a javascript file from local hard disk, so it should probable be able to read/write file on my local hard disk. I tried it but firefox prevented the "file:///c:/test.js" script to read/write files from local diak :( What i want to know is: Is there any setting in firefox about:config where we can specify to let a particular script, say from localfile or xyz.com, to have read/write permission on my local disk files??

  I think that running this code you will get excactly what I mean. I want to register 5 names to a register(people). I loop 5 times and in each loop I have a variable newPerson which is supposed to save all information about a person and then be added to the people register. In this example only the names of the people are being registered for simplicity. The problem is that in the end all people turn to have the same name: "Petra". I playied a bit with this but can't get a reasonable reason for this behaviour. • Easiest solution to sync an offline (local desktop application) database with a central server and multiple pc's?

  I have a desktop application which uses a local database. (This can be SQLite, SqlCe, PostgreSQL or any other database I will be able to install locally, I haven't decided which one to use yet.) The plan is to achieve the following: A user can subscribe to some kind of cloud service. If he does his local database should be synced with the online database (one for all users, or one per user, whatever the easiest solution is) so he will be able to sync his local database data between multiple PC's, can access his data online. (Much like dropbox does for files.) What is the best, easiest (and preferably cheapest) solution to achieve this? I am looking into DataObjects.net but I can't find much documentation about their Sync feature. Or, are there other alternatives? For example, I start with some kind of cloud service which allows local caching and use the local caching for users who do not subscribe to the service. Any pointers, tips or experiences are welcome.

• How can I have it to where "git push" pushes to local repositories?

  I can do "git remote add origin x@x:~/blah" and "git push" will work. But if I create a local copy "git clone ~/blah" inside /var -- then "git remote add local /var/blah" inside ~/blah, when I try "git push" it doesn't push the updates. How can I make git push updates to local copies? I have a shared library I use in a bunch of projects. I use "git clone" inside other folders to get a local copy of the library. When I update the main library I have to go to each local copy and type "git pull" to get the updates? How can I say "git push" to push code to all libraries?

• Getting uninitialized constant error when trying to run tests

  I just updated all my gems and I'm finding that I'm getting errors when trying to run Test::Unit tests. I'm getting the error copied below. That comes from creating new, empty Rails project, scaffolding a simple model, and running rake test. Tried Googling "uninitialized constant" and TestResultFailureSupport. The only thing I found was this bug report from 2007. I'm using OS X. • How to read STDIN into string variable until EOF in C?

  Hi, im getting "Bus Error" trying to read stdin into a char* variable. I just want to read whole stuff coming over stdin and put it first into a variable, then continue working on the variable. My Code is as follows: char* content; char* c; while( scanf( "%c", c)) { strcat( content, c); } fprintf( stdout, "Size: %d", strlen( content)); But somehow i always get "Bus error" returned by calling "cat test.txt | myapp", where "myapp" is the compiled code above. My question is how do i read stdin until EOF into a variable? As you see in the code, i just want to print the size of input coming over stdin, in this case it should be equal to the size of the file "test.txt". I thought just using scanf would be enough, maybe buffered way to read stdin?

  How does one get the value of environment variable whose name contains parentheses in a PowerShell script? To complicate matters, some variables names contains parentheses while others have similar names without parenteses. For example (using cmd.exe): C:\>set | find "ProgramFiles" CommonProgramFiles=C:\Program Files\Common Files CommonProgramFiles(x86)=C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files ProgramFiles=C:\Program Files ProgramFiles(x86)=C:\Program Files (x86) We see that %ProgramFiles% is not the same as %ProgramFiles(x86)%. My PowerShell code is failing in a weird way because it's ignoring the part of the environment variable name after the parentheses. Since this happens to match the name of a different, but existing, environment variable I don't fail, I just get the right value of the wrong variable.   I have a local ActiveMQ broker which is on an unreliable internet connection, and also a remote ActiveMQ broker in a reliable datacenter. I have already sorted out a "store and forward" setup so that outgoing messages are sent to the remote broker when the Internet connection is available. That alone works great, but when messages are outbound. However, now I have to do the reverse. Here is the scenario: A new message appears in the remote ActiveMQ broker. The message is put into a specific queue. In a few minutes, the Internet connection becomes available to the local ActiveMQ broker. The local broker should then be able to pull the message from the remote broker, and place it in its own local queue. Local consumers will then be able to see the message. So in essence, I need the local broker to become a subscribed consumer to the remote queue. I have looked through the ActiveMQ documentations but I can't find anything yet about how to do this in the .xml configuration file. Is this what I should be looking for?   I am not sure if there's an answer for this already -- couldn't find one for this (hopefully common) setup: I recently converted one of my ColdFusion projects to deploy via ANT. I have a local ant script that instructs a remote server to check out the code, and run the application's specific build file, remotely on the server. I have a few endpoints: Live - production (on the production server) Staging - on the production server, different datasource, etc. dev - on the local box. What I have run into it seems is a simple and common problem. I now need ANT to create any build, even locally. Fine, created a local endpoint and it configures for my box. Issue? How do I get it to show up as a project (automatically if possible) in Eclipse/ColdFusion builder. What I envision is instead of checking out a branch via the subversion plugin in CFBuilder/Eclipse, I now use ANT to do that for me. Since I use ColdFusion Builder (Eclipse + Adobe's plugin), I have all of eclipse's tools and plugins available to solve the problem of : how can I best call ANT from within Eclipse/ColdFusion Builder, to setup the local build as a project that I can develop and work on? I think when I check the code back in from the local box, I'd have to be sure not to check in any files with local config paths, etc. I hope this is a detailed and clear enough explanation, if not, please ask. • Can I rename LOCAL, REMOTE and BASE as used in git mergetool?

  Lets say I'm doing a rebase B of a branch onto master and there's a conflict. git opens up the default merge tool with 3 files as input : file.LOCAL, file.BASE, file.REMOTE (they're named a little differently, but LOCAL, BASE and REMOTE are in the file names and is how they are distinguished). Now, according to the mergetool man page: $LOCAL is set to the name of a temporary file containing the contents of the file on the current branch; $REMOTE set to the name of a temporary file containing the contents of the file to be merged, and $BASE set to the name of a temporary file containing the common base for the merge. That really does not make sense to me. LOCAL is the current state of the branch. Where I get lost is BASE and REMOTE. So my question is : Is it possible to make git use the branch name instead of LOCAL and similarly more meaningful names other than BASE and REMOTE? For example, if the branch name is FeatureX and the BASE = the file as it exists in master, is there a way to get git to substitute FeatureX for LOCAL and master for BASE, so that it is more apparent where the source is coming from? This is especially a problem when doing a rebase.

The first thing that I wanted to know then was whether or not the variable in this code contains the HTML code of a web-page: from google.appengine.api import urlfetch url = "http://www.google.com/" result = urlfetch.fetch(url) if result.status_code == 200: doSomethingWithResult(result.content) The answer that I received was "yes", i.e. the variable "result" in the code did contain the HTML code of a web page, and the programmer who was answering said that I needed to "check the Content-Type header and verify that it's either text/html or application/xhtml+xml". I've looked through several Python tutorials, but couldn't find anything about headers. So my question is where is this Content-Type header located and how can I check it? Could I send the content of that variable directly to my mailbox? Here is where I got this code. It's on Google App Engines.

• Python: How do I pass a variable by reference?

  The Python documentation seems unclear about whether parameters are passed by reference or value, and the following code produces the unchanged value 'Original' class PassByReference: def __init__(self): self.variable = 'Original' self.Change(self.variable) print self.variable def Change(self, var): var = 'Changed' Is there something I can do to pass the variable by actual reference? Update: I am coming to the conclusion that while Andrea answered my actual question (Can you... No but you can...), on the subject of pass by reference Blair Conrad is more technically correct. As I understand it the crux is that a copy of a reference is being passed. If you assign that copy, as in my example, then you lose the reference to the original and it remains unchanged. If, however, you 'use' that reference, for example append on a passed list, then the original is changed. I will see how the comments and votes go before choosing the answer people think is the best

• Why would Visual Studio 2010 say it can't show a variable during debug?

  In Visual Studio 2010 sometimes when I want to get the value of a variable while debugging, it tells me that it "does not exist in this context" when it obviously does. I have found that if I use the variable, as in the screenshot below, then it is able to show it. Has anyone experienced this? Visual Studio 2008 never did this. How can I get Visual Studio 2010 to always show me variable values while debugging?

• Passing a outside variable into a <asp:sqldatasource> tag. ASP.NET 2.0

  I'm designing some VB based ASP.NET 2.0, and I am trying to make more use of the various ASP tags that visual studio provides, rather than hand writing everything in the code-behind. I want to pass in an outside variable from the Session to identify who the user is for the query. <asp:sqldatasource id="DataStores" runat="server" connectionstring="<%$ ConnectionStrings:MY_CONNECTION %>" providername="<%$ ConnectionStrings:MY_CONNECTION.ProviderName %>" selectcommand="SELECT THING1, THING2 FROM DATA_TABLE WHERE (THING2 IN (SELECT THING2 FROM RELATED_DATA_TABLE WHERE (USERNAME = @user)))" onselecting="Data_Stores_Selecting"> <SelectParameters> <asp:parameter name="user" defaultvalue ="" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:sqldatasource> And on my code behind I have: Protected Sub Data_Stores_Selecting(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSourceSelectingEventArgs) Handles Data_Stores.Selecting e.Command.Parameters("user").Value = Session("userid") End Sub Oracle squaks at me with ORA-01036, illegal variable name. Am I declaring the variable wrong in the query? I thought external variables share the same name with a @ prefixed. from what I understand, this should be placing the value I want into the query when it executes the select. EDIT: Okay, thanks for the advice so far, first error was corrected, I need to use : and not @ for the variable declaration in the query. Now it generates an ORA-01745 invalid host/bind variable name. EDIT AGAIN: Okay, looks like user was a reserved word. It works now! Thanks for other points of view on this one. I hadn't thought of that approach.
