• Mavericks: Safari does not login in into web services

  Since when I upgraded ML to Mavericks Safari is no longer able to log me into Facebook. When I go to the login page it suggests me the correct credentials, I hit the Login button, the page refreshes but nothing happens, like if the credentials where empty. Firefox works perfectly, I even logged out and back in to make sure the credentials are the same that Safari suggests, and so they are. Needless to say for a different user on the same Mavericks Safari logs in correctly. The same happens with most web pages that need a login, web mails for instances, I have tow accounts on different webmail providers and none of them works. Of course using the same mail services with POP3 works fine. Even on this very site I cannot post a thing with Safari, I'm going to switch to Firefox to be able to post this question. Again, Firefox or a different user are OK. Do you have any idea/suggestion?

• Copy file to WebDAV via Command Line on Windows 2003

  I need to copy a file from a Windows 2003 server to a WebDAV folder (on the same server, if it matters). This operation will be performed via a batch script executed via Scheduled Tasks. I've enabled the WebClient service on the server. So far I've determined that I can do it like this: net use x: http://host/path copy c:\path\myfile.txt x: net use x: /delete 1) Is there a simpler way than creating a temporary mapped drive? Will it work via a batch file when no user is logged in? 2) Is there anything I should know about enabling the WebClient service on my server? Previously it was disabled, which I assume is default.

• Monitor Windows Terminal Sessions from Linux/Mac

  I'm writing some scripts to make remote connections to a Windows 2003 server a bit more user-friendly, and in doing this I want to see who's logged in already. In Windows, I could use qwinsta.exe to do this, even for remote servers. So it is exposed somehow, but I couldn't find a matching command line tool for Unix. Lacking such a tool, I could install an ssh server on the machine and call it remotely, parsing the output or write a small service of my own that would expose this via http, if I don't want full-blown ssh access. Do I have to do this, or is there already a tool for querying terminal services remotely?

• Ftp freezes despite connection seems allright

  I am trying to connect to a an ftp through command line using ftp ftpperso.free.fr I am then prompted for username and password. I get this message 230 User username logged in. Remote system type is UNIX. Using binary mode to transfer files. and status confirm that I am connected to the server. However when I then try any command, for instance ls the console freezes and nothing happens. Do you have any idea of what is going on?

• Are Ext JS files necessary in a working site?

  I've inherited a high-traffic site that loads some Ext javascript files and I'm trying to trim some bandwidth usage. Are Ext libraries necessary for development only or are they required for the finished site (I've never used Ext.) The site loads ext-base.js, ext-all-debug.js, expander.js, exteditor.js. It appears that expander.js and exteditor.js have some site specific code, so they should stay? But what about ext-base.js and ext-all-debug.js? Am I reading this correctly - are base and debugging libraries necessary for a live site?

• Win XP shut down window very slow to appear

  Hi all, I click Start-Shut Down and the Shut Down window takes 5 minutes to appear. This problem doesn't happen after a fresh boot, it only happens after I have been logged on for awhile. I am using a MacBookPro with Bootcamp. The machine actually shuts down quickly, its just really slow to bring up the shut down window. Basically I would like to know if: 1) Anyone has any ideas why this would happen 2) Who owns the "Shut Down" window (i.e. what happens on the OS after I click the Shut Down icon in the start menu) I've tried perusing the task manager to try and see if any processes look suspicious, but to no avail. thanks, H

• Executing a command as apache

  This script keeps outputting a 1. and I cannot understand why. <?php passthru("nohup sudo rndc reload sd.example.com",$op); print_r($op); ?> I have also tried the above code without the nohup. I have the following line in my sudoers file apache ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/rndc reload sd.example.com Just to test, temporally, I allowed apache a shell, logged in as apache by sudo su apache and successfully managed to execute sudo rndc reload sd.example.com. I do not see any error message in my log files wither. What could I be possibly doing wrong? None of the similar threads have pointed me to anything that solved my problem or debug it.

• Authentication error in LTSP client

  I am building a LTSP server with LDAP authentication for LTSP Clients. I have configured LDAP server also. When I try to login from LTSP client in GUI, I am getting No response from server, restarting. Then, It's restarting the GUI and comes to the login screen again. I thought that there could be a problem with LDAP authentication. But, When I try to login from Alt+Ctrl+F1 terminal in LTSP client, it is logged in successfully with LDAP user. LDAP Server and authentication is working fine. Even, after executing the below commands, still I am getting the same error. ltsp-update-sshkeys ltsp-update-kernels ltsp-update-image --arch i386 Whether I need to configure anything for GUI login from LTSP Client? How to fix this issue?

• How can I keep a div's scrollbar at the bottom of the div using jQuery?

  I have a div called #output, styled with overflow: scroll;. Using jQuery.ajax, it's being updated every x second. I'd like to have it so that when the scrollbar appears (after the divs filled up), it should continously stay at the bottom of the div instead of the top, like most chat clients do. I'm sure there's a way to do this, I just can't seem to find it. • Convert long number as string in the serialization

  I have a custom made class that use a long as ID. However, when I call my action using ajax, my ID is truncated and it loses the last 2 numbers because javascript loses precision when dealing with large numbers. My solution would be to give a string to my javascript, but the ID have to stay as a long on the server side. Is there a way to serialize the property as a string? I'm looking for some kind of attribute. • What could be causing MsiInstaller to continuously reconfigure applications(EventID 1035)?

  I have a brand-new machine that we just installed Windows Server 2008 Enterprise on about two months ago. In the event log, I am seeing thousands of EventID 1035 logged. This is MsiInstaller reconfiguring about a dozen products over and over, looping about every half-hour. Has anyone seen this? As a beginning, I did a general web search, and most solutions revolved around Dell System Center or Google toolbar being installed as the culprit. We have neither of those products installed. • Automatically "upgrade" user settings from previous version of app.config file?

  Every time I compile my app and the version number changes (I have an auto-incrementing build number), I lose the user-configured app.config settings, since they're stored in the AppData folder for a specific version. Essentially, every release of my application starts from scratch as far as user settings go. While this is a mild annoyance in development, it raises the question as I approach deployment/release - if I use the app.config to store my user settings, will the user's personalized settings be hosed every time they install a patch that changes the version number of my app? If so, is there an easy way to "upgrade" the settings from the previous release? I know that using HKCU in the registry is another option, but I like the ease of the My.Settings namespace, and I'd like to stay with app.config. Another SO question asks something similar, though the answer doesn't seem that clear. Will setting my MSI so it asks the user to upgrade be enough to preserve these user-level settings?

  A scroll follow effect is when a part of the web design is always visible, even when the window is scrolled. There are animated and static versions of this. The animated is ok http://robertomartinez.info/cobra/index.html But I prefer the fixed version, however I have some bugs: http://robertomartinez.info/cobra/index_fixed.html -In Firefox, when you scroll the page, you will see a kind of vertical cut in the lorem ipsum text (below the HERE indication). This is caused by the image tiles of the map, then if you drag and drop the map, the cut will appear in another side. -In Safari, when you scroll the page, the div follows, but the map images stay in the same position. • "Device not ready" on a network share in Windows 7

  I have two computers C1 and C2 runing Windows 7 and both of them are members in a domain. On C1 I have an USB hard-disk which I shared for the users U1 and U2 giving them Read-Only permissions on the entire drive. However, even if I can see and browse the hard-disk localy (IOW from C1), from the other computer (C2) where I'm logged with U1, trying to access the C1's shared device, the C2's Windows 7 throws an error saying "Device Not Ready". Why? How can I fix this? PS: Tried to un-share and re-share again. No luck.

• SVN Active Directory authentication with ProxyPass redirect in the mix

  We have a BitNami SVN stack running on a Windows machine which holds our SVN repository. It's set up to authenticate against our AD server and uses authz to control rights. Everything works perfectly if Tortoise points at http://[machine name]/svn However - we need to be able to access it from http://[domain]/svn. The domain name points to a linux environment that we're decommissioning, but until we do, other systems on that box prevent us from just re-pointing the domain record. Currently, we've got a ProxyPass record on the linux machine to forward requests through to http://[machine name]/svn - it seems to work fine, and the endpoint machine asks for credentials, then authenticates: but when that happens, the access attempt is logged as coming from the linux box, rather than from the user who has authenticated. It's almost like some element of the credentials aren't being passed through to the endpoint machine. Has anyone done this before, or is there other info I can give to try to make sense of this problem, and figure out a way to solve it? Thankyou!

• Windows Server R2 Task Scheduler - Open Programs On Startup

  I want Fiddler and some other programs to run on startup, so it's there and running every time I bring up an instance of my test server on EC2. There's a few questions about running scripts on Startup with Task Scheduler, but this needs to work slightly differently. I have set this up to run on startup but when I RDP into the server I can see Fiddler is running in Task Manager (so I can't manually run a second instance of the program), but it's not viewable on the task bar? So I can't actually see the interface? Here's my setup: General Tab Running with highest privileges Run whether user is logged on or not Configure for Windows 2008 server R2 Triggers Tab At startup Others are obvious and defaults.. What am I doing wrong?

• Server freeze restarted quickly so how do I fiond what went wrong?

  I have a SQL SERVER DB running on a windows server 2008 (VMWare) Yesterday I could not RDP to it so I ended some RDP sessions which were left logged in. This seemed to solve the problem. However last night I learned that the DB was inaccessible and unresponsive to customers. My colleague checked the server but again is unable to create an RDP connection. He then restarted the server and since it has been fine. Looking at the CPU Readings of the Server it spiked up to 100% before the original RDP problem .After I ended the extra seeions uit again dropped down to normal levels however before the time of the customer complaint it had rose to 100% again - before it had to be restarted. Is there anyway I can investigate which processes may have caused the problem in the first place. Would there be some kind of memory dump from when it was restarted. I would prefer to find out what is wrong now instead of waiting until it happens again.

When the Popover is dismissed and presented again, it sometimes resets the Picker in the view because hidden views are unloaded when a memory warning occurs. This is the part displaying the view: endCompareDateTimePicker.picker.maximumDate = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:0]; [endCompareDateTimePopover presentPopoverFromRect:sender.frame inView:self.view permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionAny animated:YES]; The picker (IBOutlet UIDatePicker) does not stay initiated. Adding a [endCompareDateTimePicker loadView] helped out and got me the picker initiated to set the correct date values before displaying the view. While this is working, I dont think this is the proper way doing this. What would be the correct way to handle this situation?

• Improving MySQL Update Query Efficiency

  In our database tables we keep a number of counting columns to help reduce the number of simple lookup queries. For example, in our users table we have columns for the number of reviews written, photos uploaded, friends, followers, etc. To help make sure these stay in sync we have a script that runs periodically to check and update these counting columns. The problem is that now that our database has grown significantly the queries we have been using are taking forever to run since they are totally inefficient. I would appreciate someone with more MySQL knowledge than myself to recommend how we can improve it's efficiency: update users set photos=(select count(*) from photos where photos.status="A" AND photos.user_id=users.id) where users.status="A"; If this were a select statement I would just use a join but I'm not sure if that is possible with update. • How to "flick" a UIImageView?

  I've got some UIViews that I'd like the user to be able to "flick" across the screen. They're not scroll views. They simply contain a raster image (png). Can anyone point me to some sample code, etc to help get me started? Something a little more heavyweight than "MoveMe" out there that helps detect a "flick" (vs a "nudge" or a drag and drop) and then carries the view off in the direction of the "flick"? OpenGL probably overkill. If possible I'd like to stay w/in the realm of Core Graphics/Animation.

• Custom add_action('save_post') causes html markup to disappear!

  I've added a custom "save_post" action to my theme (code is below). However, when I place images or video code in the post, its stripped away. The only way I can get it to stay is to comment out the add_action line.
