• Rails with passenger only runs in development

  Hey, I have a problem on one of our webservers. I'll try to explain it as clear as possible, but I'm not 100% aware of all the configuration of the server. There are 2 sites running next to eachother (blcc_preprod and blcc_prod), so in the 'sites-enabled' of apache this i have a file 'blcc' like this: <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /opt/dn/blcc/www RailsBaseURI /blcc_preprod RailsBaseURI /blcc_prod RailsEnv production </VirtualHost> My config/environments/production.log (from both) looks like this(I removed all comments, because it messes with the layout) config.cache_classes = true config.action_controller.consider_all_requests_local = false config.action_controller.perform_caching = true config.action_view.cache_template_loading = true config.log_level = :debug The weird thing is, that my production log dates from months ago, so something is really wrong. Could someone help? If you need more info, just ask. Thanks!   Hi! If I have one website and I want to rotate its logs, there's one instance of logrotate that is launched. There are as many logrotate instances launched as they are virtual websites. Here you can find mod_log_rotate, with a 1.3 version and (only) 2.0 version: http://www.hexten.net/wiki/index.php/Mod-log-rotate It's 6 years old. Is there something new, or maybe is there something like that in recent Apache versions? • Can Apache httpd be made to log errors to console instead of log files under Windows?

  I'm doing infrequent development with Apache/PHP on my Windows machine so I've opted to run apache as a console process instead of a service. It would be nice if errors could be logged to the console window instead of a logfile so I can see them immediately. Can this be done somehow? It doesn't seem that apache has such a capability built in and I can't find a mod that would do this either.

• Cannot Call WordPress Plugin Files Under wp-content

  I have a client who has many blog customers. Each of these WordPress blogs calls a plugin that provides a product link. The way that link is composed looks like this: {website}/wp-content/plugins/prodx/product?id=432320 This works fine on all blogs except two. On those two, when you try to call the URL, you get a 404. So, I disabled all plugins except prodx and reverted the theme to default (Kubrick), thinking perhaps a plugin intercept with add_action() API was doing this, such as intercepting URLs and redirecting them. However, this did not help. So, I upgraded the WordPress to the latest version. Again, didn't fix. So, I checked permissions, comparing with a blog that worked just fine. Again, didn't fix. So I replaced the .htaccess, using one from a working blog. Again, didn't fix. So I replaced all the files using some from a working blog that was identical to this one, and then restored the wp-config.php file back so that it talked to the right blog database. Again, didn't fix. Again I checked permissions meticulously, comparing to a perfectly working blog. Again, didn't fix. So, I created a test.php that looks like so: <?php print_r($_GET); echo "hello world"; I then copied it into another plugin folder and used my browser to get to it -- again, 404. So I copied it into the root of wp-content/plugins and tried to call it there -- again, 404. So I copied it into wp-content -- again, 404. Last, I copied it into the root of the WordPress blog website, and this time, it worked! Doesn't make sense. I started to think that perhaps something was going on with /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf for this customer, but the only thing I saw different in their for this customer was the IP address was different than the customer's blog that worked. Each customer gets their own IP in this environment my client has built. My client sysop is baffled too. What do you think is going on? Is there something wrong in the WP database for this customer? Is there something wrong in httpd.conf?

  Hi, i'm deploying a ror application and now i have to rewrite the url (in apache) to add a prefix www to the url add / to the end of the url So i took the following approach: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/[^\.]+[^/]$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1/ [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^foo\.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.foo.com/$1 [R=301,L] The problem is that it is appending two trailing slash to my url So for example a resource /question/ask are becoming: http://foo.com//question/ask I tried to add the following Rule before all my Rewrite rules to try to remove the double //: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^// RewriteRule ([^/]*)/+(.*) http://www.foo.com/$1/$2 [R=301,L] but it didnt work.. any idea to rip off all extras "//" added to the url?

  If I point to: mywebsite.com/search and there is a file called search.php or search.html or search.inc.php or search.whatthehell.php in website's directory, Apache will point to that file instead of 404'ing. What is even more annoying is that if I point to: mywebsite.com/search/string?also=whatever Apache will still display any file with filename that begins with "search.". Also, all RewriteRules with patterns containing filenames existing in directory are ignored/useless. I'm using Apache 2 on Mac, unmodified httpd.conf. How do I prevent it from redirecting my urls so freely?

• PHP for loop isn't looping after APC installation

  So I installed APC and i all of the sudden my for loops only run once and increment the value then stops. I dont get what's going on, it worked fine before APC was installed. Any Suggestions? EDIT: I managed to narrow it down to the increment. for some reason if I have an array let's say string[], and have the for loop list through the values like with string[$i] It only does it for the first one, I can manually echo/print out the array elements to check if the array is the problem but all elements have the appropriate data/values. Currently, if the user visits a directory level URL, (Ex: http://localhost/design or localhost/css) , my .htaccess file above make sure to show him the "Access Forbidden" page. But if he visits the file level URL, (Ex: http://localhost/design/css/site.css), it shows him the CSS file or the js file or PHP file.. How can I make sure to lock file level access for the above file types, if accessed directly from the URL? Since my application is JS intensive, I want to protect it from users looking at it. Thanks

Technically /blah doesn't exist, but I was hoping to have the server redirect before it gets to that point. Has anyone had to do this before? What was the solution?

• Windows 7 - XP Mode - Apache

  I've setup Virtual PC and XP Mode on my Windows 7 Pro. Using Apache 2.0.52 I have no problems having my website up and running on the Windows 7 machine. But Under VPC/XP Mode the best I can do is Localhost mode. What do I need to do to enable http connections? I need the XP Mode as besides the website I also run a Web BBS and a Dos based (via telnet) BBS. Some of the apps in the Dos BBS just won't work under 64 bit, no matter what setting (capability) are used. Thanks in advance...
