  • Aruba Wireless Controller 200 and AP70 manual

    - by techie
I have an Aruba wireless system that is currently in use but there is no documentation from the previous person in charge. I have no manuals or login information for the wireless controllers and APs. I checked the Aruba website and you need to register to access the support information but registration isn't instant and takes several days. I've waited for quite a while now and have tried googling and checking the Aruba forums but have found no indication of a manual. What I really need is the ability to reset the controller and APs so I can access the device with the default username and password. There is no reset button on this device so I have no idea how you go about resetting the controller and APs. Hm it seems I can't create a new tag as a new user. If possible can someone add an "Aruba" tag?

  • 1Tb disk formatted on Linux won't mount on windows nor mac

    - by Pedro MC
I have an external HD (western digital) with 1Tb. I use Linux but I wanted to reserve a cross platform partition on the disk. I decided to create two partitions and used the "disks" application to do it. I created one partition with the LUKS (version 1) encryption and the other one, cross platform, in NTFS filesystem. Things work fine on my OS but when I try to use the disk (the cross platform partition) on both windows and mac the device is not recognized. What could it be? Next, output of "sfdisk -l /dev/sdb": Disk /dev/sdb: 121600 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors/track Units = cylinders of 8225280 bytes, blocks of 1024 bytes, counting from 0 Device Boot Start End #cyls #blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 0+ 36473- 36473- 292968750 83 Linux /dev/sdb2 36473+ 121600- 85128- 683789062+ 83 Linux /dev/sdb3 0 - 0 0 0 Empty /dev/sdb4 0 - 0 0 0 Empty

  • How do I execute a command before kickstart parses ks.cfg?

    - by Crazy Chenz
How do I execute a command before kickstart parses ks.cfg? My specific problem is that I want to install redhat into a tmpfs by telling kickstart: part / --fstype ext3 --size 1000 --maxsize 4000 --ondisk loop1 I've tried doing: %pre #!/bin/sh mkdir /tmp-root mount -t tmpfs tmpfs /tmp-root dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp-root/tmp-root.img bs=4096 count=1000000 losetup /dev/loop1 /tmp-root/tmp-root.img but that is not done early enough. Ugh! Update: I'm beginning to think it has nothing to do with being done early enough. I believe it has to do with anaconda and kudzu not thinking that a loopback device is a valid device. I'm not a python guy, so the idea of hacking up the kickstart code sucks! -Vinnie

  • Ubuntu server 10.04 doesn't boot into installed Gnome desktop automatically

    - by Tong Wang
I've installed Ubuntu server 10.04 and then installed Gnome desktop on top of it, because I am new to Linux and its command line, I need the GUI desktop to help me get around. However, the problem I got is that the server doesn't boot into the GUI desktop when powered on. It's booting into a shell like this: Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems: - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline) - Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enought?) - check root= (did the system wait for the right device?) - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev) ALERT! /dev/mapper/cecdata-root does not exist. Dropping to a shell! BusyBox v1.13.3 (Ubuntu 1:1.13.3-1ubuntu11) built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. (initramfs) result of (cat /proc/cmdline) BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.32-28-server root=/dev/mapper/cecdata-root ro quiet Then I have type "exit" to exit the shell and then it boots into Gnome. Any idea what's wrong? Edit: add output for the following commands wt@cecdata:~$ ls /dev/mapper/ cecdata-root cecdata-swap_1 control wt@cecdata:~$ fdisk -l wt@cecdata:~$ wt@cecdata:~$ cat /etc/fstab # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid -o value -s UUID' to print the universally unique identifier # for a device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name # devices that works even if disks are added and removed. • Logitech Optical Mouse Frozen In Middle of Windows XP Pro Screen

    - by Code Sherpa
I have a Logitech Optical Mouse/Keyboard. I have been using them just fine with the system drivers for almost a year now. I recently updated my Kaspersky software and rebooted. Now the mouse is frozen in the middle of my screen. I am not able to login to the Windows XP Pro box that has the frozen mouse (because i can't work the mouse) but am able to remote desktop to this computer. Things I know / have tried: When I boot on the problem computer, I am able to use the keyboard, but not the mouse. I have installed the latest version of Logitech's SetPoint (with the updated drivers) on the problem computer (via remote desktop) and that didn't seem to matter. I bought new batteries for the mouse and that didn't matter. I have tried the mouse/keyboard on another computer and the mouse works just fine there. My suspicion is that the Kaspersky install has overwritten a driver of some sort. Things I have not done (and would appreciate detailed steps if you feel this is the way to go): 1) Uninstalled all the mouse drivers on the machine and reboot. Then, reinstall. Note: When I get to the Device Manager I don't see an option for Human Interface Devices (where the mouse device is). Here are my options: Computer, Disk Drives, DVD/CD-Rom drives, Floppy controllers, IDE ATA/ATAPI, Imaging devices, Network Adapters, Other devices, Ports, Processors, Sound, video, and gaming, System devices, USB controllers. Also, I should point out that Video Controller is the only thing under Other devices and it has a yellow exclamation mark. The same is true for all the items under Universal Serial Bus controllers. I think this means I have to update my BIOS but, since my mouse was working just fine without doing that, I don't think that is my problem. So, how do I get to my Mouse Device? 2) Update my BIOS. Note: As pointed out above, I don't think this matters as my mouse was working just fine under my computer's current BIOS version. Thanks for your help.

    - by Kaushik Gopal
I'm looking for good, detailed instructions on how to build a DIY NAS (Network Access Storage). I'm planning on doing it cheap (old PC config + open source software). I would like to know: What hardware I need to built one What kind of hard-drive setup I should take (like RAID) Or any other relevant hardware related advices (power supply, motherboard etc...) What software I should run on it, both what OS and software to manage the contents effectively So the NAS is recognizable and accessible to my network I can make sure my Windows computers will recognize it (when using Linux distro's) I can access my files from outside my network I already did a fair bit of searching and found these links, but while these links are great they delve more on the hardware side. I'm looking for more instructions in the software side. • Netgear Wireless-n 150 wrn1000v2

    - by Jordan
I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this question, move it if it's not. I'm trying to fix a wireless network. It only connects to a few devices and when it does work the connection is spotty. The router is a netgear wireless-n 150 wrn1000v2. Connecting to the router isn't a big problem, but connecting to the internet via WiFi is. I can't upgrade the firmware becuase it is from Comcast and it seems as though they only allow their versions of the firmware. I've monitored the network with wireshark and I see that the devices that are having trouble connecting are constantly asking "who is 192.168.1.1 tell 192.168.1.x" where x is the ip for the device. 192.168.1.1 is the router. This is from running wireshark on the wireless device. What does this mean. At this point I feel like buying a new router is the only option.

  • second ip address on the same interface but on a different subnet

  • Create mirror software raid with bad blocks hdd. How to check data integrity?

    - by rumburak
There is error in System event log like this one: "The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block." Because of above I created Raid 1 on this disk and other one. I'm using Windows Server 2008 R2 software RAID volumes. Volume in Disk Manager is marked as "Failed Redundancy" and "At Risk". I could command to "Reactivate Disk" and it's starts to re-sync, but after a while it stops and returns to previous state. It stops re-sync on bad block on old disk and creates same error in System event log. Old disk status is Errors, new disk status is Online. How can I check that there is exact copy of the old disk on new one ? It is server machine so I would prefer to keep it running during this check.

  • Archlinux/atheros WLAN configuration troubles

    - by GrinReaper
I'm trying to config archlinux to use my wireless network adapter. It's quite troublesome. From what I've gathered, it's an atheros network adapter, using the ath5k driver/module... I can't get it to work; any ideas? Here's some of the output from my tinkering: # lspci | grep -i net 00:0a.0 Ethernet controller: nVidia corporation MCP67 Ethernet (reva2) 03:00.0 Ethernet controller: atheros communications inc. Sorry, first time using a linux distro... EDIT: So I just tried this: I actually just did this twice. (I can't tell which setting is on/off for my wireless adapter. The lights are blue all the time now.) #rfkill list 0: hp-wifi: wireless lan softblocked: no hardblocked :yes 1: hp-bluetooth: bluetooth softblocked: no hardblocked :yes 3: phy1: wireless lan softblocked: no hardblocked :yes #rfkill list 0: hp-wifi: wireless lan softblocked: no hardblocked :no 1: hp-bluetooth: bluetooth softblocked: no hardblocked no 3: phy1: wireless lan softblocked: no hardblocked :yes 7: hci0: bluetooh 0: hp-wifi: wireless lan softblocked: no hardblocked :no I've dug around some other articles and it seems like ath5k is supposed to be preferable to madwifi, so should i be using madwifi? I'm 99% sure I disabled the hardblock (by turning it ON) but, as shown above, phy1 wireless lan is STILL hardblocked. What gives? Maybe I've made some more fundamental error in a basic config file? EDIT: I've fixed the hardblock. I've tried pinging www.google.com, but to no avail. I get: ping: unknown host www.google.com In the arch wiki: Edit /etc/hosts and add the same HOSTNAME you entered in /etc/rc.conf: 127.0.0.1 archlinux.domain.org localhost.localdomain localhost archlinux To my understanding, hostname is just a user-specified and based on preference(?) • What is the purpose of a boot priority sequence or order in BIOS

    - by rbeede
A BIOS provides multiple options for specifying an order/priority to search for boot devices. Is there really much of a purpose now to have to specify more than one possible boot device? It would seem to me it is only useful when popping in an CD/DVD to install an OS after which the common scenario is to always boot from the hard drive unless something is broken. I'm curious as to why not simply have 1 option/device to set in the BIOS and expect the user to press a key to do alternate boot instead? Is there still a scenario for having the BIOS try multiple devices in a configured order?

  • How to define a layered model for Storage Architecture ?

    - by Berkay
i don't have enough knowledge about storage systems but have to tell my audiences about how storage works in organization data centers. For this purpose to keep things simple, first i want to show them a layer model then from top to bottom and then i want to explore all these layers. What i mean by layered model in storage architecture? i want to start my presentation something like that, first layer can be applications, application request a data from storage and then ... ... (the topics i want to cover are file sytems, metadata, the physical implementation of storage (das, nas etc.) ... the request comes to the storage device and storage device (depends on the technology) goes through the disk and disk send back the data using iscsi protol, we can say that the iscsi protocol managing the path between... ... if you help me explain these steps layer by layer by examples and key technologies to be defined, really appreciate it. thanks.

  • One codec to rule them all

    - by AngryHacker
I am streaming videos in my house via Windows Media Player Streaming, which is basically DLNA. So theoretically any DLNA compliant device can pick up the stream. However, I've quickly found that this is only one part of the solution. Over the years I've accumulated a ton of video-capable devices. While all these devices can see the Windows Media Player stream, they all speak in different codecs. And frankly, I am confused by codecs. In the beginning, I thought that the codecs were defined by the filename extension they carried (e.g. avi, mp4, wmv, etc...), but after further research, it looks like the extensions are simply containers. Inside an .avi file could reside several different codecs. So my question is this: is there a format/codec that plays equally well on any device.

  • Program shortcuts disappearing in Windows Mobile 2003, any way to get them back?

    - by Carlisle White
I have a WM2003 device with some programs installed on it and a full backup created and saved to a SD card. If the device runs out of charge for some time (or the battery removed) everything is reseted back to defaults, so the custom programs and configs are gone. When this happens I used to restore the full backup to put everything back to normal again. But I've recently installed TomTom Navigator 7 and for some reason, its shortcut in the "Programs" section is not saved when creating a full backup (with the eBackup app provided) and the installation doesn't create a shortcut in the main screen (as version 6 used to do). Is there any way to make this shortcut persistent? Is there any way to create custom shortcuts in the programs section or in the main screen (preferably)? Thank you very much for your help, anything is welcomed.

  • How to prevent hard drive from spinning down Windows 7?

    - by JL.
I had a Western Digital External 1TB drive, which I was accessing via USB. I decided one day, that I would prefer to mount the HDD in my case, and access it via SATA interface. So I took it apart, and the actual mounting was a breeze. The only thing is, I think the device has some default power saving features, which means the device tends to stop spinning when idle for (x) amount of time. This creates delays when I am accessing the HDD. Is there anyway I can turn off these power saving features for this HDD?

  • Error installing Arch Linux

    - by Garethj94
So, I am trying to install Arch Linux on my Acer Aspire 4830tg, but I keep running into problems. Some background knowledge, I am trying to install Arch off a usb stick and I got the iso image using bittorrent. I am also trying to install it alongside of Windows 8 (which is already installed). So when I boot into Arch linux I get this error: :: Mounting '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201212' to 'run/archiso/bootmnt' Waiting 30 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201212 ... ERROR: '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201212' device did not show up after 30 seconds... Falling back to interactive prompt You can try to fix the problem manually, log out when you are finished sh: can't access tty; job control turned off I know that it will work if I run it on a virtual machine but whenever I try to install it on my laptop I keep getting this error. And since you can't register for the Arch forums without a Arch terminal to run their captcha command I can't ask this on their forums.

  • Disabling a touchpad in Windows

    - by Shamaoke
I want to permanently disable a touchpad in Windows running on my laptop, since firstly, I use a mouse, and secondly, when I work, I often touch it accidentally what causes definite inconviniences. I tried the following approaches to disable it but with no result: Turned it off through BIOS — there's no such function there; Turned it off through the touchpad configuration utility — there's no such function there; Turned it off through the device manager — the disable button is inactive; Turned it off through a hotkey (Fn + F1 in my case) — the hotkey doesn't work; Uninstalled the proprietary driver — Windows automatically downloaded the standard driver; Uninstalled the standard driver and turned off the automatic driver download function (Win + R ? "systempropertiesadvanced" ? Hardware ? Device Installation Settings) — all the same, Windows downloaded and installed the driver. How can I disable a touchpad? Windows 7; the Alps touchpad.

  • DHCP over WiFi on CentOS 6 [closed]

    - by dongle26
Using CentOS 6 I cannot get my WiFi interface to configure over DHCP. Here is my ifcfg-wlan0: This does not work (although it is correct): DEVICE=wlan0 BOOTPROTO=dhcp ONBOOT=yes HWADDR=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx TYPE=Wireless This works: DEVICE=wlan0 BOOTPROTO=none ONBOOT=yes IPADDR=192.168.0.253 NETMASK=255.255.255.0 DNS1=192.168.0.99 GATEWAY=192.168.0.99 HWADDR=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx TYPE=Wireless I don't want a static IP address, I want a DHCP assigned address. Update: Both of the above configs are correct. Please don't downvote, this really didn't work for me. It must be a bug in CentOS or my wireless driver. See my answer for details.

  • Is the field BusID necessary in XF86Config?

    - by Greg
Hello, I am using a cluster of machines running on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS which are supposed to be homogeneous, but apparently they are not. In particular, I am configuring the X server on these machines, and I pushed a /etc/X11/XF86Config that includes the following section: Section "Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation" BusID "PCI:5:0:0" EndSection The problem is that the BusID of the graphic card is PCI:5:0:0 for some machines, and PCI:3:0:0 for others. Is there a way that the X server automatically detects the appropriate Device (based on the name for instance)? Thanks,

  • Bug in CDP implementation

    - by Suraj
We are developing a Linux based ethernet switch which has 6 ports. We are done with CDP protocol. I have connected a Cisco device to port 2. When I quiery for the Cisco device, I get the reply and instead of getting lan1 (port 1 - lan0 .. port 6 = lan5), I always get the interface name as eth0. The same is the case for all the ports. What changes are required to get the correct interface name? I will be very thankful for the information. The snap packet is received in the routine snap_rcv() in the file "linux._2.6.XX/net/802/psnap.c"; Regards, Suraj..

  • How to copy directories using debugfs?

    - by tjbp
The debugfs manpage gives the impression that the command 'rdump . .' will recursively copy all files found on the specified filesystem from the debugfs cwd to the native filesystem's cwd. Instead I seem to receive a syntax error, and no copy is initiated? These are the commands I run: cd /path/to/transfer/destination debugfs /dev/sda1 -R rdump . . My task is to copy the entire contents of a clean yet unmountable USB storage device to its host machine's HD. The host machine does not support the inode size used by the USB device's filesystem (256) and its software is not upgradeable, so my intention was to use debugfs to transfer the files. If anyone has any other suggestions for this task I'd be grateful.

  • How could I easily pack a directory to an ext4 loop partition image?

    - by Alvin Wong
I would like to pack the content of a directory into an ext4 partition image easily, without mounting a loop device. Background: I am building a version of Android which will mount system partitions as a loop device for ARM. Though I can create those partition images by hand using loop devices, it is very troublesome. I want to use an sh script to automatically do the work, and without needing to loop mount the dd-created image and use cp -rp. The best is to directly pack the files into an image file. Question: Is there any simple command-line tools without needing loop mount and root permission that can pack files into an ext4 partition image?

So - how can I clean up this unprocessed orphan list to be able to mount the filesystem again without rebooting the computer?
