  • How does the setup bootstrapper detect if prerequisites are installed?

    Trying to solve this problem. I would like to learn how the bootstrapper detects if prerequisites (specifically .NET 3.5) are installed. According to this reference, a way to detect if .NET is installed is to check the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v3.5 Using process monitor, I have inspected registry queries done by the bootstrapper (setup.exe) and it did not show any access to this registry key. Does anybody know how the bootstrapper determines whether the prerequisites are installed on the target system?

    Can I write code against .Net 4 and its libraries using VS2008? If so how should I configure it? I realise that VS2008 will probably struggle with language changes such as the dynamic keyword but can I install the version 4 and target it anyway? My only real interest is in being able to use some of the new libraries, in particular I'm interested in the TPL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_Extensions)

  • Dojo Tooltips missing the mark sometimes

    Hi everyone, I'm using tooltips for icons that are displayed in a dijit.Dialog. Sometimes they work just fine, but other times they get placed around 25 to 50 pixels further away from the target than they should be. I can't see any pattern to when this happens.   • Including hibernate jar dependencies in ant build

    Hi, I'm trying to compile a runnable jar-file for a project that makes use of hibernate. I'm trying to construct an ant build.xml file to streamline my build process, but I'm having troubles with the inclusion of the hibernate3.jar inside the final jar-file. If I run the ant script I manage to include all my library jars, and they are put in the final jar-file's root. When I run the jar-file I get a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/hibernate/Session error. If I make use of the built-in export to jar in Eclipse, it works only if I choose "extract required libraries into jar". But that bloats the jar, and includes too much of my project (i.e. unit tests). I've also tried to set the manifest classpath to ".", "./" and only the library jar, but to no difference at all. I'm hoping there's a simple remedy to my problems...

    I downloaded the .NET 4 framework from miscrosoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9cfb2d51-5ff4-4491-b0e5-b386f32c0992&displaylang=en I installed and rebooted. When I go to compile options -- target framework... .NET 4 isn't on the list. Is .net 4 not compatible with VS2008? It would be nice if Microsoft stated that somewhere...

It's easy to schedule automated check-in's into svn from a folder, but scheduling the export from SQL in SQL Management Studio is Right click target database, choose Tasks Generate Scripts. Follow the wizard and presto you've got scripts in a folder. Is it possible to extract a single script that the wizard generates, and stuff that into a stored proc which I can run nightly? Ideas?

    How can a dynamic programming solution for the unbounded knapsack decision problem be used to come up with a dynamic programming solution to the subset-sum decision problem? This limitation seems to render the unbounded knapsack problem useless. In the unbounded knapsack, we simply store true or false for if some subset of integers sum up to our target value. However, if we have a limit on the frequency of the use of these integers, the optimal substructure at least appears to fail. How can this be done?

  • Problems using FluentNHibernate + SQLite with .NET4?

    I have a WPF application running with VS2010 .Net3.5 using Nhibernate with FluentNHibernate + SQLite, and all works fine. Now I want to change to use .Net4, but this has turned into a more painful experience then I expected.. When setting up the connection a FluentConfigurationException is thrown from FluentConfiguration.BuildConfiguration saying: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more details. The inner exception gives us more information: Could not create the driver from NHibernate.Driver.SQLite20Driver, NHibernate, Version=2.1.2.4000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4. It has an InnerException again: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Which again has an InnerException: The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found. Ensure that the assembly System.Data.SQLite is located in the application directory or in the Global Assembly Cache. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly. Now - to me it sounds like it doesn't find System.Data.SQLite.dll, but I can't understand this. Everywhere this is referenced I have "Copy Local", and I have verified that it is in every build folder for projects using SQLite. I have also copied it manually to every Debug folder of the solution - without luck. Notes: This is exactly the same code that worked just fine before I upgraded to .Net4. I did see some x64 x86 mismatch problems earlier, but I have switched to use x86 as the target platform and for all referenced dlls. I have verified that all files in the Debug-folder are x86. I have tried the precompiled Fluent dlls, I have tried compiling myself, and I have compiled my own version of Fluent using .Net4. I see that there are also others that have seen this problem, but I haven't really seen any solution yet. After @devio's answer I tried adding a reference to the SQLite dll. This didn't change anything, but I hope I made it right though.. If the behavior I wanted was that each Compile/Debug I do is for the target Debug area to be clear, so that the program would exercise the code that builds the database file, how would I organise this? thanks

    I am trying to get one of my developers set up to work on a fairly large .NETCF project. When we try to simply deploy the solution and all of its projects to a target device, deploying one of the projects triggers several assemblies from the desktop framework to be copied from the GAC to the device. What on earth could cause this? The assemblies from the "big" framework are ones like System.DirectoryServices, System.Design, and a bunch of others.

    Hi, I'm developing a Work item Custom Control and I need to use the standard VS's Merge Wizard for items in source control from my code to allow to user choose the target branch, resolve conflicts etc. I'm pretty sure it's possible in some way (even through the reflection), but I just can't find the proper class in any of VS client assemblies (Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Controls.dll, Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Client.dll).     Visual Studio 2010 seems to insist on having this import in web application projects <Import Project="$(MSBuildExtensionsPath32)\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" /> What does this import give us and is it really required? On a side note if you remove this import with a text editor Visual studio will re-add it. The reason i am asking is when the project is compiled on a build server that target does nor exists because visual studio is not installed.
