• How to set a management IP on a Dell powerconnect 5524/5548 switch?

  When you first power on a 5524, connected via the serial console, you are offered a setup wizard where you can enter the management IP/Net/Gateway and enter the admin password. HOWEVER, if you dont do this in 60 seconds, the wizard dissapears, and there seems to be no way to run it again - even if you reboot the box. No commands work in the CLI, it just gives you this prompt: If you type say enable, or login, it gives: >login Unknown parameter May be one from the following list: debug help So no commands seem to work. The CLI reference guide does not seem to have any way to run the wizard, or to set the management port or admin passwords. So by not responding in 60 secons after boot, the unit is bricked. Any ideas?

I know one of the sample applications is called jpetstore in spring 2.0. I did search in these folders and can't find anything useful. By the way, I also download the basic release which is spring-framework-3.0.2.RELEASE.zip. In the readme.txt of the basic release I found the following text: GETTING STARTED Please consult the blog examples at http://blog.springsource.com as well as the sections of interest in the reference documentation. Sample applications and related material will be provided as separate downloads. But I still don't know where to download the sample applications. Anyone can help? Thanks in advance.

• Issues with ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse when proxying to localhost and a different TCP port

  I am attempting to use ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse to proxy requests through Apache to another server instance that is bound to the localhost on a different TCP port that the Vhost exists (VHost is bound to :80, when the target is bound to :5000). However, I am repeatedly receiving HTTP 503 when accessing the Location. According to the ProxyPass documentation... <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName apacheserver.domain.local DocumentRoot /var/www/redmine/public ErrorLog logs/redmine_error <Directory /var/www/redmine/public> Allow from all Options -MultiViews Order allow,deny AllowOverride all </Directory> </VirtualHost> PassengerTempDir /tmp/passenger <Location /rhodecode> ProxyPass http://127.0.0.1:5000/rhodecode ProxyPassReverse http://127.0.0.1:5000/rhodecode SetEnvIf X-Url-Scheme https HTTPS=1 </Location> I have tested binding the alternate server to the interface IP address, and the same issue occurs. The server servicing request is an instance of python paste:httpserver, and it has been configured to use the /rhodecode suffix (as I saw this to be mentioned in other posts about ProxyPass). The documentation from the project itself, Rhodecode, reports to use the above. The issue is persistent if I target another server that is serving on a different port. Does ProxyPass allow proxying to a different TCP port? [update] I won't delete this, in case someone comes across the same issue. I had set an ErrorLog, and in that ErrorLog the following error was reported: [Wed Nov 09 11:36:35 2011] [error] (13)Permission denied: proxy: HTTP: attempt to connect to 127.0.0.1:5000 (192.168.100.100) failed [Wed Nov 09 11:36:35 2011] [error] ap_proxy_connect_backend disabling worker for (192.168.100.100) After some more research, I attempted to set SELinux to permissive (echo 0 >/selinux/enforce), and try again. It turns out the SELinux boolean httpd_can_network_connect must be set to 1. For persistence on reboot: setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect=1

• Reconfigure RAID on Dell PowerEdge T710

  I have a Dell PowerEdge T710 under my feet at this very moment, with RedHat Enterprise Server 5.3. I have 6 1TB disks and two 500GB. parted reports two devices, one 500 GB and the other 4 TB. So I assume the RAID has been setup as mirror for two disks, and I assume as RAID 5 the remaining ones. I say "I assume" because it does not make sense. Having 6 disks in RAID 5, I should obtain a total space of 5 TB, not 4TB. It's not even RAID 10: I would end up with a 3 TB unit. How can I check and eventually modify the RAID array definition? In the Fujitsu Siemens I played with some time ago, at boot I had the chance to enter the controller BIOS, but here I don't see a clear way to perform this operation.

  I currently have an iMac 27" and am considering purchasing another to run in target display mode. My desk space is a little limited. Is there a dual monitor arm solution that can support the weight of two iMac 27" units (30.5 pounds (13.8 kg)) as well as their width (25.6 inches (65.0 cm)) in a side-by-side landscape configuration? I looked at the Ergotron LX Dual Side by Side but the iMacs appear to exceed the width and weight limit this device is rated for.   Hello, I have been able to use my Canon LiDE 600F scanner under Snow Leopard to scan paper sheet, after installing Canon's latest driver software. However, I cannot find a way to make the FAU (Film Adaptor Unit) to work: Canon's software want to calibrate it first and gives an error message "Calibration cannot be performed. Pull out the film. 182.0.0". (of course there is no film). Hamrick's VueScan doesn't seem to support the FAU Apple's Image Capture doesn't propose a film option either Did I miss something? Did somebody manage to scan film (positive or negative) using the LiDE 600F under Snow Leopard? Many thanks

• Rails3 environment running very slow on Windows XP, Ubuntu 9.04, Ubuntu 9.10

  I've tried all three (granted the Ubuntu versions were via VirtualBox with XP as a host, but I gave the images all the available RAM my system has). Loading the rails environment is taking 30-60 seconds. rails console, rake test:units - anything that requires rails to load up. And not just on the first go - every time. I've even used autotest to see if it helps with execution time for unit tests, but it doesn't. Any time I change one test, it still takes 30 seconds to load them, and then about 4 seconds to execute. Has anyone else come across this issue? Has anyone figured out any way to fix this?

I want to configure it so that all the devices connected to ports in the same VLAN as ge-0/1/0 can access the Internet. I have done some research, and I haven't gotten anywhere really.   Does anyone know if there are any USB network adapters out there that have both wired and wireless networking capability? Far-fetched, I know, but thought I'd ask. Background: Some of our users have locked down laptops that we also include unlocked virtual machines running on VMware Player. Sometimes the users have a need for network connectivity with their VMs where NAT and bridged networking from the host won't work. To supplement this, we want to supply them with adapters that they can use VMware USB pass through capabilities to provide appropriate connectivity. They will need both wired and wireless capability. Rather than carrying around 2 adapters, was hoping we could get a combination unit so that we can reduce it to 1. Thanks

However, it inexplicably shuts down after being idle for 5 minutes. If I start this process manually in bash console by executing, as web user:- source ~/.bash_profile workon myproject uwsgi --ini /var/www/prod/myproject/releases/current/myproject/uwsgi_prod.ini my process does not die after being idle. What could the problem be?

We run CentOS 6, Varnish+Apache, PHP, MySQL, Typo3 CMS for most of websites. Here's a hardware we want to buy: SuperMicro X9SCA-F-O (we need to have a remote management capability) (or better X9SCM-F?) Intel Xeon E3-1220 v2 2*4Gb DDR-III 1600MHz Kingston ECC (KVR16E11/4) (currently we have 4gb, and it feels like enough, so no reason for 16gb yet). Procase EB140-B-0 (1 unit) PSU 350W Procase MG1350, Active PFC We already have: Intel 335 120GB SSD (for OS, databases and important websites). 2*2tb WD Green RAID1 (for other data and backups). Does it look like a reasonable choice for our needs? Any issues with hardware compatibility? Any other notes?

  Recently I bought a new GPU: GeForce GTX 550 Ti, and after installing it I get a strange buzzing sound. It's not always there, just sometimes (mostly when I open some game, but sometimes also in browsers etc.). It's not a capacitor or a fan, as unplugging speakers from sound-card makes the 'bzzzzzzz' go away. However, muting windows doesn't mute this sound. I'm pretty sure it is fault of the new GPU, but how is this happening and can I fix it? Can it be a low power supply? I thought of buying a stronger unit, but as everything works, and computer doesn't shut down, I hesitate.

• Why no "da-doomp" (disconnect notification sound) sometimes when unplugging wireless mouse receiver?

  Sometimes (maybe one case in 3), when I unplug the wireless mouse receiver on my Sony VGN-CS215J laptop, there is no "da-doomp" sound, even after a minute or two. And if I plug the receiver back in there is no corresponding "du-dump" sound and the mouse is still (immediately) "live". This can happen when the activity light is out and there's nothing obviously going on -- it's not simply that the box is too busy. Other times one gets the expected behavior (and usually I get the correct behavior if I plug the receiver back in a few seconds and then unplug it after a "failure"). The reason this is significant is that if I get no "da-doomp" then the laptop will not sleep properly -- it will go to sleep initially, but then reawaken a few minutes later inside my laptop case and proceed to run the battery down (and no doubt overheat the unit). Any ideas?

  Hi, I have this server which has it's physical disks in RAID 5 controlled by a 3com raid controller. size of the stripe unit is unknown for the moment (Can check tomorrow in the office). I need to install windows server 2003 ENT and create 2 partitions (OS, Data). I'd like to create the partitions before the installation on windows server. They have to be aligned properly. I have the newest version of gparted on a disc but I have no clue if this is the right tool. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

  I have big problem with creating service in new way - by systemctl (systemd.service) in Fedora 16. I wonna to create very simple service for minidlna server. I have created new file called minidlna.service in /lib/systemd/system/ and here is how it's looks like: [Unit] Description=Mini DLNA [Service] Type=oneshot ExecStart=/usr/sbin/minidlna [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target Unfortunately systemctl status minidlna.service prints: Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/minidlna.service; enabled) Active: inactive (dead) since Sat, 03 Dec 2011 20:49:23 +0100; 9s ago Main PID: 1580 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) CGroup: name=systemd:/system/minidlna.service Any ideas how to fix it? • How to prevent recursive windows when connecting to vncserver on localhost

  I have a VNCServer (vino) configured on my Ubuntu 8.10 box. I would like to connect to this server from a vncclient running on this same machine (the reason for doing this strange thing is mentioned below). Understandably, when I connect to a vncserver on the same box, my vncclient shows recursive windows. Is there a way I can connect to the vncserver on the same machine and not have the recursive windows problem? Perhaps if I could start the vncserver on one display and the client on another display then will it work? How can I do something like this? Note - Reason for running vnc client and server on the same machine: When I start our Java Swing unit test suite, a bunch of swing UI's are created and destroyed as the tests run. These windows fly in the foreground making it impossible to work while the test suite is running. I am hoping to start the test suite within a vncclient so that I can continue working while the tests run.

• System shuts down immediately after few sconds

  I have a computer with following specification and was working fine after re-installing the system and refitting sink fan unit. Recently it shuts down automatically after a few seconds. I checked PSU by shorting pin no.s 13 & 14 as well as 14 & 15. It worked well means the PSU fan moves. But I never checked the voltages at different wires. I refitted the heat sink fan by applying thermal paste. but it behaved the same. Again I refitted the Heat Sink Fan, then it worked for 2 minutes and again shut down. Now it shuts down immediately after switching on. Mother board : M26GTM-3VP CPU : AMD athlon PSU : 450 watt Can anyone help?
