The Linux/Free Software/Open Source world is cram-full of first-class security applications. Best of all, they're not just for Linux, but protect Mac and Windows too. Cynthia Harvey collects 75 to share with us.
When a full-blown commercial WAFS implementation is more than you need, consider open source alternatives using FreeBSD, Linux and a number of helpful tools.
We can all recognise good-quality database code: It doesn't break with every change in the server's configuration, or on upgrade. It isn't affected by concurrent usage, or high workload. In an extract from his forthcoming book, Alex explains just how to go about producing resilient TSQL code that works, and carries on working.

I'm on an AMD graphics card. When I use the open source xserver-xorg-video-radeon driver, Gnome shell works fine but my screen resolution can't be set higher than 1024x768.
However, when I'm on the closed source fglrx drivers, the screen resolution works fine, but gnome shell doesn't (it goes to gnome classic for some reason).
Does anyone know how I can either get gnome shell to work with fglrx, or how I can set my screen resolution with xserver-xorg-video-radeon?
