  • editText not centering

    - by Will Nasby
I have a large editText that no matter what I try, won't center. I have tried putting it in a horizontal and vertical linear layout and then setting that gravity to center because setting the imageText's gravity to center, it still hugs the left of my activity. <EditText android:id="@+id/editText1" android:layout_width="250dp" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:ems="10" android:gravity="center" android:lines="8" android:maxLines="8" android:minLines="8" > </EditText> And here is what it is doing:

  • Enable Media Volume Slider in Android application.

    - by user300972
Some Android programs trigger the "media volume" slider when the hardware volume up/down buttons are pressed. My application seems to set the ringer volume when the hardware buttons are pressed. How would I enable the media volume slider? I would hate for users to have to go into their settings to change the media volume when they use my application.

  • How to create "floating TextViews" in Android?

    - by Sotapanna
Hi stackies, I'm programmatically putting various TextViews into a LinearLayout with a horizontal orientation. After 2h of research I couldn't find out how to tell Android not to squeeze all the TextViews in one line but instead to "float" non-fitting TextViews into the next line. I know there isn't something like actual "lines" in a LinearLayout, but how can I tell the TextViews to actually behave like floating DIVs from the HTML world? Thanks alot! Be well S.

  • Quitting application in Android

    - by Danail
I want to quit application in Android. Just put a "quit" button, which kills my app. I know I shouldn't do this. I know that this is not the philosophy of the OS. If you know how it can be done, pls share. In the app, I have many opened activities, so "finish()" will not do the job. Thank you for your information in advance. Danail

  • android get URL path

    - by Tom91136
I've got a string: public://imageifarm/3600.jpg How can I extract the imageifarm/3600.jpg Part out using android? What I've tried so far: URL drupalQuestionNodeImageURI = new URL("public://imageifarm/3600.jpg"); Log.d("TAG", drupalQuestionNodeImageURI.getPath()); but it throws this exception: 09-16 17:24:39.992: W/System.err(3763): java.net.MalformedURLException: Unknown protocol: public How can I solve this? I know I can use regular expressions but that seems to defeat the purpose of URL(URI) in this case.

  • Android - What is mediarecorder's maximum maxfilesize?

    - by andy_spoo
Android - What is the maximum file size that setMaxFileSize can be set to in respect to Androids mediarecorder? I know it's somewhere between 4147483650 and 5147483650. Why is there a limit in the first place? I'm recording on to a SDCARD, detecting the size of the cards space before we run. "ERROR/AuthorDriver(31): setParameter(max-filesize = 7270309850) failed with result -5" "ERROR/AuthorDriver(31): Ln 903 handleSetParameters("max-filesize=7270309850") error" "ERROR/AndroidRuntime(409): java.lang.RuntimeException: setMaxFileSize failed."

  • I cannot get mlocManager.removeUpdates(mlocListener); to work

    - by Colin
I have an app that uses the LocationManage functions which works well until the app is stopped or paused. The location listener function is still carrying on in the background. Relevant bits of code follow. When I click home or back the onstop() function is being triggered correctly. package uk.cr.anchor; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Context; import android.location.Location; import android.location.LocationListener; import android.location.LocationManager; import android.media.MediaPlayer; import android.media.RingtoneManager; import android.net.Uri; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.TableRow; import android.widget.Toast; import android.widget.ToggleButton; import android.content.SharedPreferences; import android.graphics.Color; public class main extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ private LocationManager mlocManager; private LocationListener mlocListener; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); LocationManager mlocManager = (LocationManager)getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); LocationListener mlocListener = new MyLocationListener(); mlocManager.requestLocationUpdates( LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER, 0, 0, mlocListener); } @Override protected void onStop(){ stoplistening(); super.onStop(); } /* Class My Location Listener */ public class MyLocationListener implements LocationListener { @Override public void onLocationChanged(Location loc) { loc.getLatitude(); loc.getLongitude(); etc etc etc } private void stoplistening() { if (mlocManager != null) { Toast.makeText( getApplicationContext(), "kill", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT ).show(); mlocManager.removeUpdates(mlocListener); } else { Toast.makeText( getApplicationContext(), " not kill", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT ).show(); } } } I always get the "not kill" message.
