  • Hardware Lossless Compression for Hard Drives?

    I happened across this article about hardware based hard drive encryption and realized that not only would this give a great way to protect your data but it would also speed up the applications that we use to encrypt that data. This lead me to wonder... Would it be possible to do the same thing for compression so that all of the data is compressed or uncompressed appropriately as it is read and written to the drive? I haven't done any firmware programming in quite some time so I'm not even sure this is technically possible. If it were, however, it could probably give quite a bit more storage space to folks. What are the pros and cons of programming such an approach to be used in the firmware? G-Man

I tried googling for some solution on how to merge those two, but I found only projects using some external libraries using json services. Could anyone give me some advice on how to build such project so I wouldn't have to use them? I would like to use django auth system, but I don't know how to build it all without django templates and rendering.

  • Installshield cannot find Vista Network drive : Recommended solution

    Our installer writes common files, shared betweeen users, to a user-selectable location. However, in Vista (and maybe in win7 too), the installer does not see any network drives or network locations. This is because in Vista, the drive is mapped to the current user, and the installer starts elevated, as administrator. I can't imagine i'm the first to experience this problem, so what's the recommended solution for this ? Just ignore it, and provide your own "Copy database folder to network" method in the software ?

    I have a project that I would like to add external libraries to (and have them packaged with the application) but I am not sure it is happening. I read on this link: http://developer.android.com/intl/fr/guide/appendix/faq/commontasks.html how to, but they do not show up in any of the /data/data/project directories. Does anyone know how I can confirm that the libraries were in fact added to the project for use at runtime? Thanks.

I know I could modify the original, but is there a way to without needing to pollute the library?     On MOSS2007, I have a webpart that display the content of a xml feed. I use a xslt with parameters for transforamtions. There is a situation when I receive a 401 Authorisation exception. I realize that this happen when a document() function from my xslt try to open an external xml. If I try to open this xml in browser all work ok. I provided my admin credentials to the web part and to the XmlSecureResolver. Same problem. The webpart is on server1 and the xml feed and external xml required by xslt is on server2.   • My linux server takes more than an hour to boot. Suggestions?

    I am building a CentOS 5.4 system that boots off a compact flash card using a card reader that emulates an IDE drive. It literally takes about an hour to boot. The ultra-slow part occurs when Grub is loading the kernel. Once that's done, the rest of the boot process only takes about a minute to get to a login prompt. Does anyone have any suggestions? I suspect that it may have to do with UDMA. Everything IDE-related in my BIOS seems to checkout. The read performance hdparm is telling me 1.77 MB/s. Ouch!   • Showing Dynamic Content within a Facebook Page

    Hi all, I need to have some content displayed in a Facebook Page (I believe these are also referred to as Business Pages?). However, some of these content will be dynamic. What I mean by that is, some of the content will be taken from an existing web application. I've looked into using Static FBML (which allows us to have tabs in the profile page with FBML in it). These no longer allow iframes. Does work in this instance (as I've not been able to get it to work either). Are there any other tags which can be used for this purpose? In short, is there a way to obtain data from an external source and display those content within a Facebook Page (Tab)? Thank you very much in advance for any light that you can shed on this issue. We are working on getting the authors of the dll to fix the memory leaks, but in the mean time I was wondering what is the best way to use the dll without having to deal with the memory leaks?
